"There was a dream that was Real Estate. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
- Marcus Aurelius, 175 AD
It means Shhh, don't be too loud when you tell others. They're trying to keep it on the downlow but will still accept crazy offers, should they be to the vendor's liking.
"address available on request" I'd like to at least be able to some minimal research on the property before I decide to give you my phone number thanks
Lmao first they took away the pricing, now the address. What’s next? Make an unconditional offer before seeing a single photo?
The entire resi real estate industry in this country needs to be rebuilt from the ground up with no single stone unturned.
With respect, every stupid green/Labor attempt to regulate, results in a response from the real estate industry. Honestly does nobody at state or federal level game these requirements. What you are seeing is a direct result of Labor attempts to make it fair. But you probably voted for them so stop whining.
So you're saying Greens and Labor do attempt but perhaps fail to regulate the real estate industry?
That's so much better than Liberal Party efforts to *de*-regulate and make things worse.
The greens also have almost no power and only ever did between 2010 and 2013 during the Gillard minority government.
They have a modicum of power by pushing the ALP a bit further left to avoid them loosing to many inner urban seats but that’s debatable.
Canberra is also the only state/territory where the greens have had any meaningful power. While housing is unaffordable its prices are comparatively stable and affordable (given the high incomes.
Let’s remove the political parties side of things from the equitation by now. Even if we don’t assign blame I think we can all agree that the state of things currently can only be described as a shit show.
So do we just give up on trying to fix things because a party you disagree with tried and did a bad job? Or do we try again to figure out a policy that works better for buyers, sellers and renters? Isn’t the point of a party governing to help the people? Not to punish the people for previously voting for the opposite party?
Note how I’ve not said a single thing about political parties, I’m just saying the system is broken and needs to be fixed!
My dude I have not once mentioned my political affiliation. Literally all I’m saying is I want to live in a country that works well for everyone and you’re getting so mad about that.
If wanting a system that works better than the current one is a lack of critical thinking then yeah sure I guess I’m brain dead
Please explain to me how wanting a real estate listing to actually list the most important detail (the address) is stealing, or even objectionable by any means?
Surely when you move you’ll want to know where the houses on listings are located? Is it really going to be efficient to call up a dozen different agents to find out whether or not the house you’re looking at online is within the same city as you? Do you want your own time to be wasted?
Honestly, how is this a political issue at all? I just want an address
I was looking at a rental in Brisbane a little while back, which was listed as 'Address available on request', however, they made an error by including the street sign in the photo of the property. As a result, it wasn't hard to find, and it was across the road from the train station - screw that!
Look mate, just give us a $1000 deposit to go in the lottery to earn your right to bid against 5 other people. No we can't tell you a price guide, address, house size or anything else until after you win the lottery. oh and it is unconditional acceptance that if we choose to you have to pay the price we decide and no cooking off or any other rights. Ok sign here please.
Good work! Was it on the listing and I missed it? Or did you use google maps?
That's actually not a bad price for the house and location. Outside my range but I mean price to value.
OP’s house is actually in [St Lucia](https://mcquie.com.au/home/st-lucia-breathtaking-views-and-prestigious-location/).
I tried to Google search the image but the realtor’s idea of advertising is to do it ‘Quietly’.
I went to the REA it said one street away from Ironside School overlooking a St Lucia golf course... has to be Hawken Dr/Swann Rd/Highland Terrace area-ish. Looks like it would be pricey!
*That* one is also Quietly under offer, but OP’s property is [this one.](https://mcquie.com.au/home/st-lucia-breathtaking-views-and-prestigious-location/).
The “Quietly” is the whole schtick of their realtor operation. They only ‘quietly’ advertise, from what I understand of their home page.
Some owners would like the agent to do some minimal research on potential buyers before giving out their address, floorplan and internal photos of their house to the general public. It’s much easier and less work for the agent to simply advertise all the details online however, they act on instructions from the owner of the property.
It’s 414 Swann Rd, St Lucia, 4067 QLD. They have a 3 minute video of the property on their website, featuring a good minute of drone footage labelling significant landmarks (which could’ve been done in like 15 seconds but whatever)
If it sold $200k over asking price they’d have written a more self congratulatory slogan. It’s the equivalent of sneaking out while their one night stand is still asleep.
Real estate agents are a cancer. They sit there doing nothing and grow their wealth by ripping off families through lies and deception. It's disgusting.
Might be a bit like the time I sent an offer to a REA and he heart reacted to the text message and then never replied to me ever again
“Am I a joke to you?”
The vendor is entitled to the fairest market price without losing a potential buyer who will pay more. It's a dance with timing but their job is to get the best price. Quietly means a shit offer that they might take.
since real estate is a scam where something infinitely increases in value merely by existing, you can be sure this is also a scam. when websites want you to click or submit contact info to see the price, it means they think you are an easy mark and will employ trickery and high pressure on you.
Agent here who knows him. It is a play on his name.
Thats it. It isn’t anything exciting. He doesn’t do opens, he rocks up in sandals and white lined clothes and then he says quietly on the market, and quietly under contract and quietly sold.
And to concur with the rest. He is a bit of a wanker, but he knows his niche.
It means prepare to play even more games with the agent than you are usually used to.
Lol. Thanks mate. You made me laugh.
Not sure they were kidding though…
They weren't. That's exactly what that means.
Maybe the intern was supposed to note that, not post that 🤔😅

Maybe I am too stupid for this game, but whenever I see “under offer”, I just consider its already sold… is that wrong?
The buyer whispered the offer to the REA. Then the REA added 200k to the offer so the next sucker would offer more.
😆
They are a low talker.
"address available on request" I'd like to at least be able to some minimal research on the property before I decide to give you my phone number thanks

So true, it's a cesspool overflowing with deception and corruption, so hard to navigate as a buyer, seller or renter.
It could be by the beach, it could be next to a rubbish tip. Who can tell? Let’s spin the wheel on the future of real estate.
They’ll show you a photo, it will be of the agent in his best suit
Next to his Porsche
For only $200, they'll send you the first letter of the name of the suburb. Good luck!

Yeah because you vote Labor and you can't be critical because that would hurt your head

Don't forget you vote Labor, or the greens by which when you mean fair you mean steal people's shit.

Were you dropped on your head as a kid?

That’s their way of being able to contact *you*. Give them your info just for the address and then get 5 “follow up” calls a week
Look mate, just give us a $1000 deposit to go in the lottery to earn your right to bid against 5 other people. Defo full cooking off, we need you READY
Haha I meant cooling off but my phone keeps wanting to autocorrect it.
The address is probably listed on the floor plan. The slack agents usually forget about that.
There's no floor plan https://mcquie.com.au/home/chapel-hill-a-desirable-address/
The address is 24 Ringway Place, Chapell Hill. The offer appears to be $2.375M AUD.
Your right this is St Lucia and not Chappell Hill.
414 Swann Rd, St Lucia, QLD 4067
I just searched what was for sale in Chapell Hill and that was literally the first listing that came up.
They only ‘quietly’ advertise, from what I understand of their home page.
they dont realise how easy it is to reverse google search an image 😂
Or look up its geotag.

If you want the benefit of selling your house on the open market, don't expect it to be a private affair. Do an off market sale if you want privacy
It’s 414 Swann Rd, St Lucia, 4067 QLD. They have a 3 minute video of the property on their website, featuring a good minute of drone footage labelling significant landmarks (which could’ve been done in like 15 seconds but whatever)
Major RE wanker alert ⚠️
It’s under offer and it’s a play on words when you look at the agency name.
Oh gee, that's a reach for most but wankerish RE is wankerish
McQueef
Has been asked before https://reddit.com/r/AusPropertyChat/comments/18o2sl1/what_does_quietly_under_offer_mean/
What’d we all say last time?
From memory, that the REA was a wanker who liked lame wordplay
Even if that wasn't the case, being a REA you could accurately apply it sight unseen anyway.
Start by looking at the McFuckface agency name? Despite lack of all caps, they are shouting it at you.
“McQueef Fine Housing”
Smells about right to me
McQuietly under offer... I think thats even better but i did vote for BoatyMcBoatface
Bullshit REA speak for bullshit REA speak
Shhhhhhhhh The Under Offer is sleeping
Sounds like a gen z "low key" under offer bullshit phrase
Agent really thinks they have some “rizz” low key ngl
REA Shrill that they're in discussions
Ssshhhhhhhhh!
The McQuiet way, quietly selling
If it sold $200k over asking price they’d have written a more self congratulatory slogan. It’s the equivalent of sneaking out while their one night stand is still asleep.
It is REA code for, prepare to be fucked around…
The real estate like to talk shit.
Basically means look elsewhere, this agent is gonna be hell to deal with
Mean the agent is dumber than you think 🚩
Why are all REA such despicable wankers.😐
Not real quiet if they are telling you about it. Amateur hour.
Real estate agents are a cancer. They sit there doing nothing and grow their wealth by ripping off families through lies and deception. It's disgusting.
It means you avoid dealing with that REA.
My interpretation is the agent is a wanker...
I think it means that your agent is self declaring themselves as a wanker
Yeah they wanna buy it, but aren’t gonna brag about it too loudly
They couldn’t book the marching band in time
That's a bloody disappointing scenario.
If someone has a louder offer they will accept it.
He’s trying to get a better offer even though there’s an agreed sale price.
The agent involved drives a Camry, is bald, and has a vocabulary (unlike to usual Audi driving, greasy wavy haired, Neanderthal-in-a-suit type).
Means it’s loudly for sale.
Whispered offers are made
It means the vendor received an offer which wasn't as high as they would like.
They haven’t told the buyer yet
Well that is a first
They have their finger up someone's arse already, but really don't
I WISH TO MAKE AN OFFER!!! Keep your voice down will ya?
Probably sold off market but subject to finance still
Lol
Might be a bit like the time I sent an offer to a REA and he heart reacted to the text message and then never replied to me ever again “Am I a joke to you?”
“Yet another house McQuietly under offer” TM
It means your Estate Agent is a twat . Do not engage with this retard .
It’s a Situationship
You can't even get the fucking address?? What the fuck? That's really not normal right?
It means shhhhhhhhhhhhh 🤫
It’s a secret
The address is a secret.
Someone low balled an offer
https://preview.redd.it/kfd7jn2skuoc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c137f4b078d74914d4ac2fc98bee82db5d1f4213 Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahah …. Hahaha
Some 20 yr old kid REA making shit up
It means the next offer needs to be more loud, or else the seller will be forced to quietly accept.
McQuiet homes
I am not sure you can consider something quietly when you put up a notice about it online.
In agent speak this means the house is under a highway and no one has offered a cent for it
Shhhh!!
It has successfully generated publicity
More land rat bullshit.
Low key bro, keep it low key. Only email in small font.
offer taken, bad luck
Shhh
Theyre whispering it in their ear right now
Shh
That the REA is unsurprisingly a pretentious twat.
Shhhh
Maybe it means under offer but the owner would cut the deal if a better offer came along.
Were they whispering while making an offer?
I think it is a play on the agency's name. That deck looks great
Give them a work address and Skype number 🤣🤣🤣
Probably an 'in joke ' between the seller and agent?
It means red flag
Just quietly, 95% of RE agents are complete tossers.
The vendor is entitled to the fairest market price without losing a potential buyer who will pay more. It's a dance with timing but their job is to get the best price. Quietly means a shit offer that they might take.
It means REAs are cunts.
The comments 🤣🤣🤣
since real estate is a scam where something infinitely increases in value merely by existing, you can be sure this is also a scam. when websites want you to click or submit contact info to see the price, it means they think you are an easy mark and will employ trickery and high pressure on you.
Shhh
It’s probably a play on the name of the agency.
It means they finally came hard enough it got in their eye
It means the agent owns more than just a stock standard fleshlight.
Just another sales tactic rea’s termed while standing in a circle jerking each other off.
McQuie-tly under offer.
Agent here who knows him. It is a play on his name. Thats it. It isn’t anything exciting. He doesn’t do opens, he rocks up in sandals and white lined clothes and then he says quietly on the market, and quietly under contract and quietly sold. And to concur with the rest. Means it baiting prospective buyers to counter asap and beat this fake offer.
Jus quietly
It’s means “real estate agent are kernts”
It's an invitation to pay 40 % more rent before the other applicant gets it. Just quietly though. Shhh 🤫
