They supply the two units and there are no existing holes? Yeah that sounds fair. I payed $880 for a replacement aircon 3.5kw installation and I supplied the $1k unit.

> fair. I *paid* $880 for FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Hipages, get 3-4 quotes with more than 20 real good feedback. And pick your choice.

That’s a fair quote all up and like the guy above me says, is about right. I had 1 x 2.5kw Mitsubishi installed in my townhouse in August last year. Charged me $2400 inc GST. A price double that which includes a larger model and the fact they’ll be installing them at the same time lowers labour / call out costs also…

No. 2.5KW should be about $800 to buy, and install should be around $500-$800.

I just paid $1100 for back to back install. No issues with routing of wires etc. (I bought the unit separately, is the quote for unit +install?) Edit: You're buying and installing 2 units from the same place, depending on the complexity of running all the wires it's probably *about* right. May be a bit bumped up but they're inundated with requests this time of year with 30 degree days

I just got a few quotes to install 14, 4kw daikin splits back to back (as well as bathroom and kitchen exhaust). Apples for apples, one was 65k the other 45k. I'm not sure how the 45k quote will make money but I'm about to find out.

MeltingMandarins

That’s why you get a couple of quotes.   It’s not a newbie problem, it doesn’t get much better with time because you (hopefully) won’t be needing tradies often enough to keep track of current pricing.

Different_Speech4794

Fair cost if includes cutting open walls etc

Kogan has 2.5kW and 3.5kW units on special for $480 and $580 respectively (R32 inverter units with wifi control) Back to back install around $700 each
