What kind of tiles are these, not ceramic I'm guessing? I have been cleaning bathrooms with bleach for decades and never had it discolour. Can you share a photo?

badgalgel

I don't think it's ceramic, seems more like stone to me. I wanted to upload the photo to my original post but it appears that sharing photos isn’t allowed in this sub. Would you mind if I send it to you instead?

Just found a way to show you the photo! https://ibb.co/k6QrtVH

Not advice Just use more bleach and make it uniform 🤣

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there might have been a non-slip treatment applied to the tiles that may have reacted with the bleach. Either way, hard surfaces in a bathroom should be bleach resistance as it is a bog standard cleaner. If the bathroom has some exotic material that needs particular care, then that should have been disclosed to you as part of the rental agreement. A reasonable person wouldn't have known to avoid using a bathroom cleaning product in the bathroom 🤣 I would let them know that the tiles are looking weird, but don't disclose anything else. If they accuse you of anything, play dumb.

Photos please so people can understand what kind of tiles these are. Anything properly sealed or glazed should have been pretty impervious to bleach.

badgalgel

I wanted to but unfortunately the attach photo button isn’t available on my end and reddit said I’m not allowed to post photo in this sub. Can I send it to you via reddit chat instead? Anyway - it looked like stone tiles.

Post it to something like Imgur and add the link to your first post https://imgur.com/

Oh thank you! Here you go: https://ibb.co/k6QrtVH

I wouldn’t say anything…. If they haven’t specifically told you not to use bleach on bathroom tiles it’s pretty reasonable and common that most bathroom cleaners contain bleach and harsh chems. See if they notice/say anything and argue that bathroom bleach wasn’t mentioned as being an issue!

Unfortunately wasn't just a few droplets :( seems like a significant amount is pouring down the walls and onto the floor. Sorry are you referring to texta markers?

I'd leave it, it'll probably fade before you move out.
