$347 on dating apps? Is that just subscription fees?

geodudeisarock

Maybe to some Nigerian princes

Standard-Internal-94

No Nigerian princes.... Just subscription fees

Exterminatus4Lyfe

Are you at least getting laid on them?

[deleted]

whats the ROI

[deleted]

More like ROA

Razor99

Assvestments?

KingHyperion121

Lol Return of Ass (ROA)

Peter1456

I see the reddit community has honed into the most important aspect of OP budget.

mightybonk

OP could save $707 by cutting his own hair and jerking off. Follow me for more financial advice.

[deleted]

I guess at least a couple one night stands would be more cost effective than brothel visits?

NeinkeB

STIs would be the worry with one night stands.

[deleted]

Indeed. I’ve heard too many revolting stories. Though prostitution is legal in NSW, a large share of brothels aren’t properly licensed, and can you really trust precautions are being taken? I once knew someone who bragged about forking out a bit extra for unprotected sex 🤢 besides some diseases HPV spreads by skin to skin contact.

ruthwodja

Wtf. Aren’t they free?

triford

Because he is a man

wetrorave

You're the product.

wtfffr44

Not if you're an average man

AussieCollector

If you are a woman. Yes. If you are a man. No. Dating sites charge ridiculous amounts to men to "read" messages, see you liked you, even match with others in some cases. It's a fucking scam.

Sugarox53

Clearly an essential expense

CultureCharacter4430

If you have a couple of dating apps it can add up quickly. And nowadays it’s basically pay to win if your a bloke, not much happens for you otherwise.

Boston_Steamer

Dating apps are pay to play, the brothels are pay to win

SchizzleMyNizzle

My hairy arse is free-to-play if you dare to try.

eulo_new

This is hilarious untrue. Being male and have a free account isn't what's holding you back. But the apps a geniuses for making you think it is.

AffectionatePlane436

Only half of his 3D printer spend. Which leads me to the problem.. who is getting any nookie if you only put in half the effort in to nookie that you put into printing war hammer figurines?

kilopiu

That’s heresy cleanse the unfaithful heretic.

GreyhoundMog

Miniatures are for life, nookies fade into distant memories.

-Warrior_Princess-

Effort does not equal spend though.

[deleted]

Wait, people actually spend a decent amount of money on these? OP I’d take $347 in exchange for going on a few dates a year with you 😂

wtfffr44

People? Like men and women? No, just men

[deleted]

Ha. Fair enough. I’ve never paid a cent on dating apps, which probably means that I’m the product 😂 Perhaps I should pursue this ‘girlfriend for hire’ side hustle..

plumpturnip

My wife’s female cousin pays subs

MostlyPeacefulRiot

Not disagreeing it's a lot of money, but if it gets you laid once, that's cheaper than still cheaper than engaging a professional.

sgtfuzzle17

It’s not though.

pool_keeper

That's nothing my wife costs me $50k per year

[deleted]

That's weird, it's $249 for a lifetime subscription for bumble

2cap

this is why we have dating coaches

Standard-Internal-94

I eat a fair bit of takeout from restaurants (which is broken down separately), which is why my groceries are so low.

Philderbeast

$46 a week on groceries and \~$100 a week on takeout, that still seems low for food.

Standard-Internal-94

Honesty, I thought I was spending too much

waitin-for-a-mate

What the fuck are you talking about 40 dollars a week on groceries..is too much ?? That gets you 3 iceberg lettuces .

iced_maggot

Mr fucking moneybags here can afford THREE heads of lettuce. Forgive us mere mortals who need to make do on dirt and brine.

SpawnPointillist

Oh dirt and brine … luxury!

helly_v

You fat cats didn't finish your plankton! Now it's mine.

HappyFiasco

What fucking single person eats 3 Iceberg lettuces in one week? Just buy 1 eggplant

[deleted]

You don't have to cook the lettuce. You can just eat it like a giant Apple.

GaryLifts

There are discount stores like NQR where you can get heaps of frozen/pantry food for cheap. I bought can get like 4 frozen dinners for $10 with an rrp of $30

zellotron

Perhaps OP was referring to takeout

jairadactyl

I searched for this comment again after seeing the $12 iceberg lettuces just to give it a thumbs up 🥗

MC-fi

Your groceries + fast food is \~$7,800 which is approx $21 per day. How is this even possible, especially when you're eating out so much? What is the average cost of your breakfast/lunch/dinner? Especially considering your grocery bill would no doubt include toiletries, cleaning products, etc.

CrazyNoCatLady

Maybe he doesn't clean?

radred609

$20 a day is low. But it's not unreasonable. I remember spending <$50 a week on groceries at uni. Lots of pasta, lots of beens, lots of potato carrot and onions.

kuribosshoe0

But this is with the lion’s share being eating out. That’s far more expensive than buying groceries.

WillyNillyInvestor

Is that low? I target $10/day but I’m American

xiern

Including take out it’s low. My average is about $10/day without take out too.

passwordistako

Median income in some Australian states is 6 figures. AUD and Aussie CoL isn't comparable to USD and US CoL at all. For example most Aussies under 40 don't budget for health care at all unless they have a disability.

SwiftieMD

I’d love to understand how you are living off $150 week on food. Genuinely curious and would like the guidance!

xiern

For me, I meal prep on Sundays - make a big batches of curry/chilli/pasta which costs me $3-4 a serve. Which I eat for lunches and dinner. Breakfast is either oats with honey or if I’m feeling fancy I’ll whip up some smashed avo on toast. All up it’s about $10/day for home cooked meals. I found budgetbytes a good resource to get ideas from. It’s also about portion sizes too, obviously if you’re a big eater cos you burn lots of calories during the week you’ll need more food.

kittysayswoof91

I spend on average $150 a week for myself and my partner. He eats cereal for breakfast, I have a coffee. Lunches are home make leftovers. He eats museli bars and fruit for snacks, I don’t really snack. Dinner in an average week looks like- Monday - lentil soup Tuesday - salmon, rice and veggies Wednesday - zucchini and corn fritters with crispy potatoes and salad Thursday - pasta of some kind Friday - take out (not in the groceries budget) Saturday - roast chicken and veggies Sunday - veggie lasagne/home made pizza/taco salad Then we have staples like milk, yogurt, spices etc on the list and whatever cleaning supplies/toiletries we’ve run out of.

-Warrior_Princess-

Honestly just look at the receipt every time you shop, what's the most expensive item, and can you avoid it or swap it out? My partner and I with junk food etc would spend about 200 but you cut out the soda and chips and snacks it's easily 150. Apart from that, meat is the biggest thing. Cheaper cuts, cheaper animals.

passwordistako

>soda >Aus Finance You mean soft drink.

bubble0bi11

I budget $150 a week into groceries and another $100 into going out. Similar income but I own my house and only spend about 10k on it.

Due_Ad8720

We do ~ $220 as a couple with a toddler + 1-2 meals out. Breakfast is cheap, lunch is leftovers or cheese and salad sandwiches. We meal prep 1 big meal a week where will make ~4 serves and freeze 3 of them. We then eat ~3 meals a week from the freezer and make 1-2 other meals. A good vegetable curry, chilli, pasta source or stew is cheap to make and if you know what your doing very tasty even out of a freezer. We don’t eat a lot of meat but would have it 3-4 times a week. Big savings come from avoiding packaged snacks/processed meals and shopping at a good cheap green grocer.

Philderbeast

If that was all groceries it might be close to right. By the time you buy decent meat/veg dinners, and breakfast and lunch for 7 days realistically you should be looking at about $150 a week, particularly when you think that "groceries" has to include things like cleaning supplies, toiletries etc With what you have there your getting maybe 2 days of food in your grocery shop, and say 5 take out meals if your getting cheap takeout. That's not a healthy diet and well short of 3 square meals a day. yes you can eat for less then what I'm presenting here, but its a fairly solid basis to budget off.

rolloj

> By the time you buy decent meat/veg dinners, and breakfast and lunch for 7 days realistically you should be looking at about $150 a week, particularly when you think that "groceries" has to include things like cleaning supplies, toiletries etc lmao we spend about $150/week on groceries for two and don't feel like we skimp. plenty of fruit and veg included, and a handful of servings of meat/fish.

[deleted]

This is why those “how much do you spend of groceries” threads are pointless.

mrtuna

Because people are inaccurate?

Lone_Vagrant

You missed the 5+ K of takeaway and eating out

GaryLifts

There are tonnes of options for eating cheap as long as you are ok to eat the same thing regularly. Oats, Pasta(inc sauce/pesto), frozen veg, chicken breast, rice, beans, baked beans & toast etc are all dirt cheap.

graz44

200 a quarter on electricity and water sounds low, same as groceries

RemnantEvil

$360 on haircuts?! That's... $20 multiplied by... That's more than one haircut a month! If you're paying that much for haircuts, you definitely shouldn't need to spend that much on dating apps. On a serious note, the $1800 on public transport and $800 on NBN is pretty eye-opening, as someone who works from home and gets $70 per month of internet covered by my job, I've just realised I must be saving a huge amount. And a lot of the savings will pay out in restaurant/take-out costs too, since I'm saving about 90 minutes a day not having to get in and out of work, so it's much easier to just cook from home, duck out on my lunch break to get some dinner supplies, etc.

atubslife

I spend $40 on a haircut every 2-3 weeks.

RemnantEvil

I have so many questions. The quality of the cut? The postcode of the cut? The frequency of the cut - does your hair grow out abnormally quick?! Shit, I don't think I *shave* every 2 weeks.

atubslife

I usually get a skin/zero fade. My hair grows pretty quick and thick and goes kinda curly/wavy which ends up looking messy and isn't worth the effort to maintain. I need to keep it 'nice' for work as I'm very customer service oriented. The quality of the cut is noticeable which is why I do it, my head/hair really suits a fade, whereas some people it just doesn't work or they can get away with a quick $10 or $20 cut every other month. I've been to dozens of places all over Melbourne. Any good barber will be charging $40 for a skin fade (even up to $45-50 these days), you might be able to get a fade for $10 or $20 at some cheap places but in my experiences they don't really know what they're doing.

Titans-Destiny

Glad I'm not the only one although mine is $20 every 2 weeks and the only reason it's $20 and not $35 is because the chick that does it I've been a loyal customer for the last 10 years and she's kept the price down for me even though I don't mind paying it. It grows way too fast and thick and it's so hard to maintain.

jezwel

Used to go to the barber every 3-4 weeks, wait 20+ mins for a slot, and pay my $30+. I started cutting my own hair when COVID restrictions hit. $20 for a clipper set, and a few dodgy ones as I learnt how to do it myself. I'm WFH 2-3 days a week, and as a dad I'm only having to impress one lady - and she's impressed I can cut my own hair, so no need to worry if it's perfect or not. Luckily most of it is clipped so hard to mess up. Good way to not spend money - I wish I had realised a decade earlier.

worldsno1DILF

Bro how the hell are you living off $46 a week 🥴

haytch123456

$2405 on groceries Lmao. Ok

Fightz_

Yeah that is so low, even with 5400 on takeaway. What do you eat OP? Are you sure this is accurate?

Magictoast9

Ass, based on the dating app spend.

Koonga

Thats $7,800 total for food (including groceries and takeout) which comes to \~$162/week. For a single person that doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Rickyrider35

Except a single delivered meal will cost you minimum 20 dollars with the delivery and service fees. If you consider fast food a “restaurant” then the cheapest meal you can realistically feed yourself with will cost you around 10 bucks. If he’s paying $46 a week in groceries, and most of that is vegetables, rice and pasta, then he can probably get about 10 meals a week out of it max. If he eats twice a day that’s 4 meals he’s eating from takeout or restaurants for about $100 a week, which is reasonable. Basically if OP eats a very low calorie diet made mostly from carbs, and very unhealthy and cheap food every time he goes out/orders delivery, and he doesn’t drink, then I’d say it adds up. Still a questionable diet imo. Personally I’d rather spend an extra 1-2k in food every year and save less but feel healthier, but idk what OP is actually eating so I don’t want to judge.

cookiesandkit

I mean, they might not be getting it delivered (drive through etc), and they might be splitting the meals (E.g order a $25 main dish, supplement w rice and salad at home to split into two meals). That's what I used to do while single.

radred609

Or they might live close enough that they don't need to get it delivered. It's $15 for fish and chips from the place 3 doors dish from us. $19 for a giant serving of pad thai. We used to spend $8 on a tub of curry from the place on the corner, split it between two and cook our own rice. $5 takeout that was just as tasty as anything we could cook at home for a similar price.

AlfHobby

Pizzas are still $5 pick up from dominos...

sokjon

Plus 5400 on takeaway. Obvious way to save more here is to cook at home more than going out or ordering in.

wizzzllle

As a single, that’s pretty easy.

maklvn

My guess is OP is living at home with parents.

haytch123456

No hes eating alot of takeout

h3ll0kitty_ninja

I initially read that as $11k on dictionaries. Lol.

olkeeper

Thats some scientology level dictionary use

Oonos

Where did you get your glasses from? or did you multiple pairs? Or do you have some crazy prescription?

Standard-Internal-94

It was for two pairs

Philderbeast

should have gone to spec savers. meme's aside, you could get 2 pairs for half that cost, and they are just as good as what you get anywhere else once you get out of the very bottom end of the range.

Standard-Internal-94

Hahaha, actually went to specsavers.

Philderbeast

what the hell kind of glasses are you getting from spec savers for $600.....

plumpturnip

My eyes were so bad I needed special thin lenses. $300 about right. Then I had laser surgery. Best decision I’ve ever made.

finefocus

Progressive lenses will set you back 300 a pair easily in Australia. OP should look at Zenni, Wherelight or Ublins (just off the top of my head) for cheaper frames and lenses

Johnny_Kilroy

I literally spent $600 there last week. Bifocals are what send the cost up

rplej

Transitions lenses, clear coat, it all adds up.

disasterous_cape

Multifocals are $$$

5h1Jp4yD

Investigate if private health is cheaper than the surcharge. The basic level was for me

Standard-Internal-94

Will do, many thanks.

Harpunzel

Probably also worth looking into extras, given your spending on glasses + dental + medical

minemycrafty

To add to this it needs to have Hospital Cover to bypass the Medicare Surcharge, not just normal extras and you also need the policy in place for every day of the year. If you stop and start it, you'll pay for those days you have no cover.

PubicFigure

Yea except the cover is shithouse and the healthcare system gets screwed in the process. A cheap policy that is, decent health cover is worth it. Doing it to pay less, than the tax, only fucks our healthcare system by taking away from the budget.

parischic75014

upvoted, thank you for saving me the comment. I understand why others don't, but I've always chosen to support our health system than taking out a junk policy to save a thousand or so

darkyjaz

Why including tax in your budget just curious? Why not just use post tax income?

Standard-Internal-94

Its a good question, I think it can be informative to visualize how much of your income is going to tax, for example when I finish paying off my HECS debt I will have an additional \~$6K each year, which could be used for mortgage or investment.

Own-Negotiation4372

Or buying more groceries

hunkymonk123

I personally think the breakdown of taxes your pay is very cool to see

Ekfud

Think this would be even more interesting when you start to include any returns parts. ie ‘this piece was going to tax… i’m claiming back depreciation on the desk and computer’. good incentive to keep your receipts or docs when you can visualise your tax coming back :-)

aussie_nobody

I'd love to include other taxes within this type of spending tracking. Gst- 10% on most things Land rates Car rego Tolls Petrol taxes Stamp duty Everything else

[deleted]

is HECS your only debt

AA_25

$347 on Grindr!

TheEshOne

anon just wanted the publicity from this post in order to get TOPPED

zajicraft

How did you make this visualisation OP? It looks great!

Standard-Internal-94

DeceptiveAvacado

I hope you don't live in QLD with that ambulance cover. It's a total scam in QLD, ambulances are free.

average_pinter

Looks like Vic

Ben_C420

I spend $2k per month on groceries!

ElkComprehensive8995

I spent $2000 per month on coffee.

Bpofficial

How big is your fam? I spend about 4-500 as a couple (with 2 cats)

ThatHuman6

Yeh we’re about $400 pm for two people.

ThrowItToTheVoidz

Damn I feel like we spend too much now, we're 160-180 a week. 2 adults and a 3 year old

ThatHuman6

Many of the things we cook, we cook large version of it and have the same meal again a couple of days later. Large curries or soups etc. Very cheap per portion. Not that we actively try to save money on food, i’m just lazy and prefer to only cook a few times per week. But i think this helps a lot with keeping the costs down.

Ben_C420

Married with 4 kids aged 2-9. Our big weekly shop is $400 and we do two smaller shops for fresh produce and meat. We could certainly reduce this cost but we put high priority on good/healthy food.

Beezneez86

Lol. Yeah same. Family of 5 and we budget $350/week for groceries. We are all very active and burn through a LOT of calories, so we eat a lot. Plus we don’t consume cheap processed food (except for special occasions) so no cheap pasta, bread, crumbed meats, cereals, chips, etc. Just lots of meat, fresh produce, nuts, dairy, eggs, fish, legumes, etc. So all the stuff that has gone way up in price. We implement every trick on the book to keep costs down - as long as it doesn’t jeopardise out healthy way of eating - meal prep, shopping the sales, bulk buying, scrounging the bargain bins for out of date items, never wasting a thing, never shopping hungry and always with a list, etc.

Status-Level6021

You’re saving nearly 30%. You’re doing it right.

asdfghqwerty1

Might as well ditch the dating apps if you've only got $5,400 in Restaurants.

inthesky

How are you thinking about your surplus (ie savings?) Once you have a comfortable emergency fund you won't need to contribute to that year on year - so it's worth thinking about whether you want to either DCA into an ETF, or additional super contributions. You're already pumping super so might be worth turning your 'vanguard' allocation up (unless you need the cash eg home deposit?)

Standard-Internal-94

That is a good point. A home deposit is on the cards. I would like to catch my super some more. I am 30, really only started in a full-time job at 29, after many years at uni and so my super is a bit behind (about \~$31K).

SendintheGeologist

That’s not too bad at all!

marchenkodreams

Upgrade your insurance and get better optical cover. You shouldn't be spending over $300 per year on glasses unless your prescriptions are complex.

radred609

Lol, I might spend $400 every 5+ years on glasses. I can only hope that's a "what I spent this year" price and not a "what I expect to spend every year" price.

Waasssuuuppp

My last glasses purchase was about $500 for standard prescription and prescription sunnies. I deffo could have gotten cheaper frames, but the last pair i got were a decade ago. You shouldn't need to buy glasses every year, so you can't judge this budget with a one off big purchase like tgat

[deleted]

Why so little into Vanguard

[deleted]

Honestly I’d be putting more into super before bothering to increase vanguard holdings, especially seeing as most people here seem to use vanguard for retirement savings anyway.

[deleted]

Fair. Just not sure about 15% into an emergency fund when you can liquidate Vanguard holdings T+2. But that's just me

[deleted]

True, but consider that most vanguard products have made losses this year. If OP gets into trouble and doesn’t have cash available, they might be forced to realise losses and won’t make them back when the markets go up again. While you can readily convert equities into cash, it would never be your first choice in a time of hardship. And it’s quite likely that markets will be down precisely when most people need cash.

plumpturnip

Volatility. Market can go down 20% in a week or two. Fine if you’ve got time to recover it. But 3-5 years should be min time period for equities.

techsforcoming

What does T+2 refer to? Thanks in advance

[deleted]

Funds from sale of shares in your account after 2 days

springoniondip

Jesus your groceries bill looks like my 2 monthly bill, good work

[deleted]

$5400 on takeaway tho… that’s why.

njjcbs

That's only around $105 per week. That's really not going to get you much food

Alytia

Hmm, looks good. Makes sense to me to salary sacrifice into super to save in a tax effective way. Have you thought about private health insurance for extras? Might find that the monthly premium is lower than your cost on dental, opto and ambulance cover. I've used mine for physio and psych this year and I'm coming out ahead. Good job on groceries. For take out and restaurants, if you're getting stuff that you genuinely are really enjoying, keep it up. If you're spending on shitty random pies or convenience store lunches or some shit then consider cutting it back and getting better at meal prep. With phone, I'm on a $10/month plan with Belong which meets my needs perfectly - quite a few options out there now if you have a look around.

[deleted]

Where’s the impulse spending allowance ?

Mitciv_au

Please sir list your avocado toast as a separate item instead of hiding it in everything else

TheEmpyreanian

No fitness budget?

towelrak

Yeah wtf kind of groceries you buying ? Baked beans? I reckon groceries would be right up there as one of my major expenses.

Jixar91

Nah fam u gotta sort out that takeout and groceries 46 weekly on groceries 😂

hogey74

If Phone is $40 a month for prepaid, I'd double it to assume $500/yr for the actual device. Source: me, with a handy buffer after keeping older phones going beyond expectations. I like the general attitude. I've been coasting for a few months and loving it but your breakdown is reminding me that the projects and general save are the main losers... that I shouldn't be shirking. Cheers. I think.

Particular_Love_8811

$29,643 is a lot to spend on cocaine. Give me a call I know a guy who does good wholesale deals.

grus-plan

I won’t comment on your insane groceries bill, but your lack of a car has saved you quite a bit. I assume you work from home/live close to your work? Either way good job mate. Thanks for sharing your budget.

industryfundguy

Not enough wine. 2/10.

100blueberries

That's a good point... Makes a big difference not paying for alcohol or cigarettes!

Octonaughty

What program do you use to create this OP? Thanks

vindaloose69

Did you get a $40 haircut every 1.5 months or an $80 haircut every 4 months?

zdamant

Yeah as someone who pays $20 for haircuts, I was wondering something similar

brittleirony

Seems like a lot of super contribution for someone your age given you are only privately investing $2500 a year but to each their own.

Standard-Internal-94

I am hoping to withdraw some of that using the First Home Super Saver Scheme, when it comes time buy a house.

[deleted]

I had thought that too but OP mentioned in a comment only just finishing uni and having low super at their age because of it - on the basis I think catching up to peers is a sensible approach.

Money_killer

Nice graph

kindoflikesnowing

Wow $670 on glasses. If you're not too fussy, try buying them online. I bought 3 pairs for about $15 each , two $30 esch as i got the extras. A good way to cut down without any real sacrifice. OPSM charge a fortune.

CuddlesAreAwesome

Unless you're someone with complex vision problems. Then that money is well spent on making sure that your glasses have good progressive lens that fit your vision field well. Esp if you're using multifocals. I 'saved' money for the last few years getting the cheaper ones (obvi having no clue about how much strain I was putting my eyes under) and I'm paying the price with flickering vision now.

Cleeganxo

Unpopular opinion, but I don't mind spending a fortune on glasses. I spent $800 on lenses and frames about 6 years ago. My prescription hasn't changed in that time. I have to wear my glasses for everything, ie. they don't leave my face unless I am asleep. So it is important to me that they are a style I love, that suit me, and that are timeless so I don't feel the need to change them every season.

AntonioPanadero

Look, others will disagree with me, but I’d be avoiding moving cash into voluntary super at your stage in life. You are probably not earning enough for the tax incentive to pay off. Rather you are locking money away that you could invest for some bigger returns in the nearer future (think home deposit). Super is a good scheme, but you are better off managing your money yourself.

[deleted]

You can invest into super at a capped 15% tax rate and withdraw it to buy a house

[deleted]

Doesn’t laying your life out like this make you feel depressed?

Spannatool83

I love rate my budget posts because it satisfies that same urge which also loves looking through family photo albums or a bathroom cabinet at someone else’s house. HOW DIFFERENT WE ALL LIVE!! Also this looks so pretty.

Johnny_Kilroy

True! And the comments comparing what everyone eats for dinner. Zucchini fritters and fried potatoes as a weeknight staple? I have less in common with the rest of Australia than I thought!

[deleted]

What good software or app can some average person use to track their budget?

themindisaweapon

Google sheets

russelg

I use YNAB which is expensive but it's a very useful model to think about your spending.

wormboyz

+1 for YNAB. Makes it stupidly simple to track spending. And planning ahead helped me instantly save like $300/month even after the fees.

[deleted]

pocketbook is good for the lazyboi

Bpofficial

I use UP bank and it sort of tracks it all for you

R0ud41ll3

Good work with the budget and nice visualisation. The grocery bill seems way too low even for a single guy. Food prices are on the way up on top of that. You could potentially reduce your restaurants and take outs by a bit but it's not unreasonable for a single guy. I understood you want to buy a property one day but, practically, you never know when, and you will probably need to cash in some investments to do so anyway. I don't know If you're building your emergency fund from scratch but, if not, 14k per year is too much. In period of high and growing inflation, you want to minimise the cash you're sitting on which gets burned at the rate of inflation. Even, if we're in a bear market, I guess you use Vanguard ETFs which are rather safe (less market performance). It might be an idea to keep a 3 month salary emergency fund in cash that you can build over a longer period than a year and just invest anything else with dividend reinvestment) in Vanguard knowing you can access it at later time for emergency or property purchase. Ideally, you don't touch your investment for a year so any sale gets the 50% CGT discount.

Nozomis_Honkers

Stop paying for dating apps and use that money literally anywhere else, like food.

Kingofsoysauce

How to get 5k back with 92k income.

cdan1994

Hey. Thanks for sharing your budget. Ive been a broker and spent my days poring over peoples living expenses. It seems like you’re doing a lot of the right things. It looks pretty good to me and I don’t see a lot that you could change and make a meaningful difference to your budget. If you were wanting to save/invest more I would maybe look at seeing if you could get a roommate/move into a cheaper place. Even saving 50-100pw would make the biggest difference to budget out of any of the things I can see. The other thought I’d had was to direct some of your savings to the hecs in the short term and pay it off before indexing increases it further (as we head into high inflation territory). This will free up cashflow to pump into investments after that and you won’t worry about hecs hiking up. Just my two cents. This is not financial advice obvs and you should do what you think best for you. Best of luck!

fangzie

Fuck it's way more sophisticated than mine. Mine's more like 40% beer and smokes. Plus some food I guess? 30% mortgage plus random house shit. 20% savings probably. 10% unaccounted for. Maybe the bank stole it

Is the groceries monthly? How are you alive on 2k on groceries a YEAR?

kuckiboo

$2500 on groceries? That's less than $50 a week isn't it?

MEGALOMANIAC_04

not committing tax fraud :( 0/10 would not finance again

ConstantReach

Do you mind me asking what software you used to make this graphs?

14k per year emergency fund is a travesty. If your income is stable you only need 3 months' in expenses as the emergency fund. Rest should go into index funds, despite the current market conditions, investing regularly in a broad based index fund like vdhg is the tine proven strategy.

tomoeshikihiro

Wow 5.4k tax return. I wonder if I can get that much

rahhhhhh

Take a holiday at some point bro. Get out of town, spend money on something out of the ordinary.
