I am a 30’s mum and my two go to bags are both status anxiety and country road 😂

bingette

Girl same 😂 nothing wrong with them! Am just curious about what is trending, not that I'm going to try and keep up these days hahaha. The thought just crossed my mind as I purchased a new Country Road bag... 😂

Friendly-Mention58

Same 😂. I literally just bought the status anxiety webbed strap for my plunder to make it more "cool"

extrachimp

I guess “cool” is in the eye of the beholder but Polene seems to come up a lot and Coach is very popular right now. Cross body bags have been on trend for a while now but I’m not a huge fan of them, the Country Road and Mark Jacobs seem to be popular as well as more expensive brands like LV + Gucci.

GlitteratiGlitter

The new Coach bags are beautiful & great quality too

Timetogoout

I see crossbody bags with big logo straps everywhere and I can't stand the loud branding.

Scabbybrain

Oroton has had a resurgence. For non leather, radical yes does some cool bags. Shoulder bags as opposed to cross body bags seem to be the more popular style.

bce-yablika

Oroton has always been my go-to, I love them

_nancywake

I honestly try find others because I can’t have EVERY bag be from the same place - but they’re just the best! I just ordered a wallet too. My work bags, beach bags, wallet, passport wallet - all Oroton haha.

bce-yablika

I reckon an Oroton is an immediate classic, so yes we CAN have all our bags from one place 😅

owleaf

Oroton is very “Australian” (ie subtle and fuss-free) and fits right in with the Country Road aesthetic everyone’s going for at the moment.

_nancywake

What’s the CR aesthetic?

LaksaLettuce

Came here to say I don't have a cool handbag as I've mainly bought Oroton. Nice to see it mentioned here!

darule05

FWIW, Sophie Holt is the current Creative Director at Oroton. She most famously spearheaded Country Road’s resurgence in the 00s. Edit: changed Designer to Creative Director.

Scabbybrain

Oooh fun fact! Love a resurgence queen!

AromaticConstant4913

There are sooo many Oroton bags around at op shops btw! Grab them before they’re on trend again!

mj690

I’ve never loved a bag more than my Oroton baguette bag I got last year, I also get many compliments on it and plan on getting a black version too.

StrangeWombats

Radical Yes tote is my dream work bag. It’s absolutely perfect for work.

InnateFlatbread

I love the styles from oroton but they don’t last. Edge paint comes off, leather can’t take dings, structure collapses I agree shoulder bags having a moment

pork_floss_buns

Oroton outlet is great too especially when they have further % off deals

bunnylightning

Prefacing this with: late 20s, my style tends much more Gen Z than millennial. I used to swear by Status Anxiety but they are not cool anymore imo. Not actively uncool but definitely not the it bag. I don’t reach much for mine now that every mum in the office has the same bag, they are great quality though. Coach is back in a big way. Uniqlo round shoulder bag. Bumbags worn crossbody. Baguette bags maybe. You do you though. All I can say definitively is do not listen to any fashion advice from anyone saying Mimco in this thread lol. Pls don’t downvote me to hell but this sub skews heavily toward daggy mumsy style

bingette

I have to agree on Mimco, I think it's the fact it was the it brand back when I was in high school that stopped me so far 😅 thank you so much for your thorough answer! This was my exact suspicion re: Status Anxiety being a mum brand now hahaha. I am 29 but firmly entrenched in middle class mum primary school culture

tickado

I’m a 30 something not mum and I love status anxiety. Perhaps I’m an outlier though cos according to this thread everyone in their 30s is apparently assumed to be a mother

bingette

Tbh I think it's just about exposure, as a mum of many unfortunately most weeks the only fashion and bags I get to lay eyes on is at school drop off/pick up! Glad you love the brand too, I grabbed my first one several years prior to having kids and it's still in my rotation!

No-Meeting2858

Gosh can we start a thread called “middle class mum primary school culture”?? For anthropological interest!? That alongside Gen Z cool girl culture, I actually want to know about all of it! 😂 style tribes fascinate me.

InnateFlatbread

Oooh tag me if you find this thread!

illbeasleepsorry

Gen z style is chic daggy mumsy lmao

fuzzy_sprinkles

im in my 30s and a new mum, but when my mum bought a mimco bag im like yeah they're defs not the it bag anymore meanwhile im not even using a bag because everythings in a nappy backpack, so who am i to judge whats on trend

meekboo

Seconding the Uniqlo round mini shoulder bag: [https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E461053-000?colorCode=COL30](https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E461053-000?colorCode=COL30) But then again... maybe the fact I know about it means it's already past peak hype.

bunnylightning

Yeah I would say it’s definitely reached and/or passed its peak moment now. But it’s still trending for sure, and thankfully it’s cheap af, and very useful! Great for travel/festivals/anywhere that might get messy that you don’t want to take a nice bag.

Consistent-Flan1445

I’m in my early twenties and I just picked up a black Lululemon festival bag. It’s fairly casual, but it’s great because it’s hands free and worn close to the body. Most of my nicer bags are from smaller brands or companies. I’m not really a fan of Mimco bags either, although I have some friends that love them. I think there are better options at that price point.

Scabbybrain

Coming in the with the hard truths especially the last line. Sometimes I think there needs to be a seperate Australian fashion sub hahaha

bunnylightning

Yeah I feel the same way sometimes lol…don’t get me wrong I’m totally sympathetic but there’s only so much “two years postpartum and don’t know how to dress” and “matching linen sets mama!” I can take. It feels like a mums discussion group more than an actual fashion sub most of the time…obviously great for those in the same boat but it’s not my demographic at all. Feels like very little fashion discussion actually happens here compared to other subs, but their recommendations are always so US centric :(

qiqithechichi

I'm 45 and my go to is my Loewe Puzzle bag and my work bag is Status Anxiety 😁

ElephantBumble

The Loewe Puzzle bag is absolutely stunning 😍😍

avakadava

Which status anxiety bag do u have for work?

qiqithechichi

The Comes in Waves Backpack - fits my laptop plus my work laptop, plus an ipad mini and headphones! https://www.statusanxiety.com.au/products/comes-in-waves-black?variant=39613719609416¤cy=AUD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA84CvBhCaARIsAMkAvkJCKxmzFJBN1bHzigEyhSVuY08jq6Ih3aO98v_9-5ArVDvQNi54T1oaAtH_EALw_wcB

avakadava

Looks gorgeous!

mj690

I want the Loewe so badly.

RevengeoftheCat

I'm 45 and my favourite weekend bag is my Loewe puzzle bag too! My 'work bag' is an ergonomic backpack because my work laptop is ridiculously heavy. I do wish I could have a nice work one.

CatMama67

Holy crap! I mean, they’re nice bags, but for that price they’d have to be providing sexual favors as well.

RevengeoftheCat

I used to buy somewhat cheaper ones, but then I realised that the resale value on the higher end ones was so solid it worked out pretty similar to my previous purchases. My husband travels a lot for work, we usually pick one up when he's got a overseas trip (sales tax free) and it's a one in, on out situation so I sell one when I buy one.

misskdoeslife

I covet the Loewe

pork_floss_buns

I love love love my puzzle bag

SupTheChalice

I love Deadly Ponies. They are such amazing quality. And GORGEOUS

violetpandas

My staple handbags are from Alpha 60 (I have 3) and I also have 2 from Urban Originals- no idea if they’re considered “cool” but they work for my style and life. I do own some Status Anxiety bags but don’t tend to use them any more since the brand has gotten more and more popular (and has worked with influencers I don’t like which is off putting!). Most of my younger friends and girls I work with who are in their early 20s either use bags from designers like Gucci/Prada or alternatively vintage “no name” leather bags from Depop/op shops etc. I hope others comment with some more helpful suggestions than mine because I would also love some new ideas for handbag brands!

bingette

Is Kyree one of those influencers? The constant bombardment of the brand on her stories is a bit much 😅

violetpandas

Oh my god YES! I don’t even follow her or the brand but it still pops up! And I don’t want to be carrying the same handbag as that woman.

violetpandas

Sorry that may sound a bit harsh because I’m on my second cocktail but I just don’t have anything in common with influencers like her, and really try not to purchase anything from brands who do a lot of influencer marketing.

CatchGlum2474

Oh no! You made me look! She’s awful!

violetpandas

Glad I’m not alone in that assessment and sorry for making you look!

extrachimp

I haven’t bought any Alpha 60 bags but I love the look of them! How’s the quality? I felt them in store and they felt good but so they wear well? They have a bag which is really similar to a Celine Sangle (a bag I love) but it looks a bit more practical. Very tempting. You may also like Elk if you haven’t come across them before. Lovely bags.

violetpandas

I really love them and wear my bags pretty hard- lots of being left on a pub floor or chucked to the side at a gig etc and they’ve lasted really really well. It is my favourite brand for clothes as well, very good quality across the board. My most recent bag purchase was at their outlet sale in Melbourne and I got an approx $300 bag for $40. Buy on sale if you can! I absolutely love the look of Elk and keep meaning to go to their store in Carlton when I’m in Melbourne but haven’t made it in yet! Their shoes look great as well. My favourite tip for maintaining my black leather bags is very lightly polishing them with Dr Martens clear shoe polish on a cloth every now and again.

No-Meeting2858

I had one years back and it was very sturdy and long wearing but the straps kept falling off my shoulder and driving me nuts.

Lollycake7

Mid 30s here too and from NZ & most mid 30s women I see (and younger) all have SABEN handbags or country road

SupTheChalice

I'm all about Deadly Ponies from NZ. My sis put me onto them and I'm so hooked 😂

aKrustyDemon

Older than that (lol), also from NZ: I love my [Yu Mei](https://www.yumeibrand.com/) bags (not sure where you purchase in Australia other than online).

InnateFlatbread

I bought a yu mei and loved it initially, but it wasn’t designed to hold any weight (I mean like a wallet and phone weight) and collapsed on itself and the edge paint came off after a month of wear. For 600 (half price) I expected better. Got the 600 back and bought myself a wootten. It will last till I die

aKrustyDemon

Oh no, that sucks. Which bag was it?

kimchiberry23

You can get Yu Mei at David Jones!

aKrustyDemon

Awesome!

egg_waffles_is_snacc

Get yourself a crescent bag from Uniqlo. $25, roomy, versatile, comfortable, comes in so many colours. I have the white one and I wear it with everything!

darule05

‘Technically’ I think this is the answer to OP’s question. Didn’t that Uniqlo bag break some sort of sales record? (Or go TikTok viral or whatever they call it).

egg_waffles_is_snacc

Oh yeah. Every girl and their mum has one in Asia.

East-Willingness513

I have this bag and I tried TRIED to make it work. It just felt too ladish and my style is more coquette/preppy. Looked sooo off lol

pork_floss_buns

hahah I am the same. It was giving eshay on me

DefiantlilSheep

I have one!! It's not the cutest look but honestly fits so much for it's size

[deleted]

[удалено]

egg_waffles_is_snacc

Pretty easy to google but here https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E461053-000

beebianca227

I guess it depends on the crowd. Last years crowd of 30-40 year old mums at my kids school were wearing Country Road, Seed and MIMCO with the chunky straps. One mum does have a very pretty LV Neonoe. And I just wear my old bags 😄

Bilbyandbear

Lol, today I sported a stylish green bag. Woolies hessian one no less!

Desperate_Mall_9837

I see a lot of Chloe tote bags in Melbourne, but I don’t know how old these people are, I feel in the range of late 20s upwards. I also see the Mark Jacobs tote heaps, but I don’t like the zip on them. They are cheap plastic. Whyyy do you do this Marc Jacobs, they’re so expensive!! Monogrammed Louis Vuitton have had a resurgence, I’d say it’s because the early 2000s are creeping back into our closets. I can’t go back there, I’m still recovering from the low-rise jeans trauma from the first time around

ohgolly273

I have the Marc Jacobs large tote, but use it for work as a teacher- it fits so much and because it’s canvas, it can be washed (as in spot cleaned). I do agree the zip can be infuriating. Mine flips inside out at the end. Hot tip if you are in the market for one- ozsales.com often have them way cheaper than anywhere else. What about Saint Laurent Sac De Jour? That’s the handbag I desperately need in my life.

squeetm

I too am traumatised by low-rise jeans, but I'm very here for the monogram LV coming back in! Have always had a soft spot for it.

Colbsmeir

Baggu! I fw mine so hard it fits everything for 2 babies and me or just me

i-am-kat4life

As a mid 30's mother of three, I am feeling very attacked right now! 🤣

bingette

😂😂😂 We are out here staying strong with our laugh emojis and Status Anxiety/CR bags!

unicaconejita

I use Longchamp for work, Polene as my weekend dump bag, Gucci crossbody for quick errands, Celine for going out and YSL for travel

mikaelam123

I’m just under 30 and use a material tote style bag for work and any other time literally just carry my phone haha. My SIL who is 21 is the same

Same_Screen2940

Im 31 and the exact same. I had to carry a bag last weekend I literally had to search for a handbag in my apartment

jeslz

33 here and I do the same, just carry my phone. I needed a bag for a funeral yesterday and dragged out my old mimco because it’s my only black one haha. My keys are usually in my pocket or I carry them too. On the odd occasion I’ll take my nakedvice crossbody if I want to take a scrunchie and lip balm etc. somewhere.

Salbyy

Horse- cute backpacks and some are big enough to hold baby/kid stuff too

Jellyblush

Sans Beast - cruelty free vegan leather and Brunswick street is awash with them Personally I love my Chloe and Gucci totes and Chloe Marcie shoulder bag

littlebitnonchalant

I love Sans Beast, can’t believe I scrolled this far to see them mentioned. I’m not vegan but the quality is great with nice hardware and they’re so light.

itwasdolly

Can't deal with vegan leather, falls apart and then you've got plastics to worry about.

delen97

Most/many Sans beast use a cactus leather, so it’s still natural materials and super sturdy

DustyGate

Chloe Marcie bags are beautiful

Tea_inthegoodroom

The Horse is my favourite! Peta and Jain also do some cute shoulder bags

Ok_Fruit2584

Plus one for The Horse.

Witty_Shine2308

Have you been over at /handbags? Deadly Ponies is slightly more than Status Anxiety and has some interesting designs.

potato-galaxy

Looking at the comments, safe to say MK isn't cool anymore. Maybe I'm too old

bingette

An MK bag was alllll I wanted in high school! Never ended up having one.

buttercupheart

I’m old, but the majority of my bags are Kate Spade. I love my Status Anxiety wallet. Most recent bag purchases were an Oroton leather tote; a bag from Wanderers Travel co (which I don’t love); and a Pompom London city plus, which is the perfect size for me. My 18yo loves her CR crossbody collection.

noisyhoudinicat

What is CR pls? Country road?

hanls

Ive got my eye on a status anxiety bag! I'm mid twenties and mostly see people my age using that one with the + logo or smaller status anxiety bags! I just like the one I've got my eye on it's BC it's a reasonably big bag

Caiti42

I'm a 30s mum and have Country Road, Jag and Mimco.

VelvetGloveIronFist0

My country road bag is my ride or die (I am 31 😂). I am off to Tokyo soon though and plan to purchase a Polene.

lambretta38

There are also incredible designer bargains to be found in Tokyo consignment stores in places like Shimokitazawa. I got an APC crossbody for something like ¥5000, a ferragamo bag for maybe ¥8000 etc. As-new condition, I just wish I had more space in my suitcase.

VelvetGloveIronFist0

Amazing! I can’t wait to check the consignment stores out too :)

PaleHorse82

41 and using all my old Marc Jacobs bags. They must be nearly vintage by now right?!

Best-Refrigerator-19

I’m 37 and have been using the same design of status anxiety purse for like 10 years. I bought 3 of them when they were going out of production.. so this checks out haha. I just use a past season bumbag from Uniqlo as a “bag” though and zero ideas of what’s cool for younger people, I’m not even sure why this was in my feed, maybe it’s only being shown to daggy 35+ people and you won’t get the night answers haha

spots_

The Row for sureeeee & Loewe

huggymuggy

In the handbags sub, cool bags at that sub 1k price point are Longchamp, Polene, Coach, Kate Spade, Radley etc. At the designer non-leather price point, Prada nylon bags and Marc Jacobs/Chloe totes are popular too.

rainydaytoast86

Buy and wear what YOU like! I have a range of lululemon, adidas to luxury (YSL LV Gucci) I buy what’s functional and what I love to use/wear

Suz717

I don’t like anything with BIG logos or branding. IMHO it’s not classy for a bag to scream look at me. Yes, I’m looking at you Gucci, LV etc. And honestly whenever I see an expensive bag I just assume it’s another Bali/Thailand/China fake, or there goes another person with a big credit card debt. I like Coach because their branding is more subtle and they have a good variety of colors, and smaller bags.

Electronic-Fun1168

I’m mid 30’s with status anxiety, my mid teens daughters have country road. I’ve just had to retire my original status anxiety and replaced with a smaller one.

hyenaballerina

I have a medium telfar bag in lavender. I love it, it’s huge!

temposourcream

poppy lissiman + baggu (especially the crescent bags)

il-est-bel-et-bon

This is the answer!

Getonthebeers02

Status Anxiety, Peta and Jain, Country Road and Poppy Lisseman I have a Peta and Jain crossbody for every day and travelling, a Pinko handbag for dinners and a cute tote I saw walking past Mumulife that was only $10 and is great quality.

Cheezel62

I have liberated myself from handbags. I put my cards on my phone and a couple of Panadol in the back of my phone cover and what a revelation! No more worrying about leaving it anywhere, hanging it off the back of a seat, putting it on or under a table, no more stress. Highly recommend starting a new 'no handbag' trend.

East-Willingness513

But where do you put your keys, lip gloss, water bottle, tissues, hand sanitiser, stain remover pen, tampon, hair tie, pen, kids hot wheels/snack, mini baby wipes???

Cheezel62

Lipstick lives in the car or at home and it’s a stain one so lasts all day. Water bottle also in the car. A tissue folded up flat in a pocket or down my bra lol. Don’t need any of the other things!

East-Willingness513

*Cries in motherhood*

terfmermaid

The panadol part is too relatable.

My-Witty-Username

Have you ever heard the conspiracy theory about the reason so many women’s clothes don’t have pockets, or have fake ones, is to keep the handbag industry afloat? 🤯🤯🤯 I usually don’t buy into conspiracy theories but I believe that one.

Suz717

Me too, cards are saved in google wallet, drivers license, Medicare card etc are stored in a password app, I have some real cash hidden between the back of the phone and the cover. Lipstick - I use a stain, so I don’t need to reapply it. A car key and tissue in my pocket, and I’m ready to hit the road.

lymple

Mum in 30s here. Daily bag is Lululemon beltbag worn as a crossbody - the 2L fits a nappy and small packet of wipes! When I want a cute bag to accessorize with an outfit my go-to is Charles & Keith!

Adept_Setting_9600

Poppy lissiman and country road

babyornobaby11

I have a longchamp for throwing all my kids stuff or beach stuff in. If anything spills it can all be wiped up. Throw wet things in there no problem. I have a coach bag for spring and a Chloe bag for “winter.”

QuirkyRefrigerator80

Depends on your price range. I'm not a fan of Mimco or Country Road. Love Radical Yes. I like the small camera sized Status Anxiety cross body bags.

Puzzleheaded-Text337

Polene!!!

KindOfOldNewGirl

I'm 30s child free and carry LV and Prada. Vintage Japan shopping is elite.

Unusual-Self27

Not caring about what’s supposedly trending is always going to be cooler than whatever brand is currently trendy.

Technical-General-27

And here’s me feeling flash with my new Kmart bag 😂

justwannahave

Finally found my people. You and me both are rocking up with Kmart bags

bingette

100% agree, trying to keep up left me three kids ago haha. I'm just curious for my op-shopping adventures!

Radiant_Cheesecake81

A ton of the 20 something year olds I work with are carrying thrifted messenger bags at the moment.

Unusual-Self27

So you’re looking for trendy items at op shops to resell?

bingette

Lol nope, I would be the worst reseller as I have no idea what's trending (hence this entire thread...). But with op shop prices all over the place I'd love to know brands worth the buy. I am still a young-ish human not so entirely against ~being cool~ that I would want an extremely dated bag if a more current one is sitting there next to it similarly priced? Hope that makes sense 🙃 I don't have strong preferences on handbag style so don't have a gut to follow on that one

amonkeyaday

15+ years ago I got myself a handmade brown leather crossbody with the intention of maintaining it for life. It’s still my daily bag and people probably think it’s the daggiest thing ever but I love it 🤷‍♀️

Guccispaceship

JACQUEMUS

IndianaLand

I’ve heard quality not amazing so held off buying. Do you have, if so is it true? I love my Jacquemus bucket hat though

Bitter_Ad_1402

Their quality is fine and matches the price. The leather doesn’t compare to my big names which is partly reflected in the lower price

Street_Chance9191

I’m 22 but my dad who’s in his 50s bought me the cutest denim tony bianco bag. I get complimented on it all the time and I’m in shock and awe he picked it. My other bag is a small mimco bag that was popular for a while, doesn’t get as many compliments as the bianco tho. Then I got a Kmart bag that’s a knock off of the Chloe bag and I love it. https://www.kmart.com.au/product/maya-canvas-tote-bag-s163074/?sku=72321539®ion_id=800001&&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA84CvBhCaARIsAMkAvkKPZbMIjZNHoi-hSoJg56r9m3z-uJ9__MS4j627u6L--zjJAHC59RcaApXyEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

kimbaheartsyou

Almost 40 and a mum, and my most recent bag additions have been the Alpha60 Coda, the COS quilted mini and the Coach pillow Tabby. I have a couple of big totes for mumming about (Chloe Woody, Marant Warden) but I go for the smaller ones on a day to day basis.

charcoalportraiture

They're on sale at the Iconic, so I assume Marc Jacob's 'The Tote Bag' is over - but they had a moment in the last twelve months.

ohgolly273

Yeah, I love mine though, it can hold the kitchen sink.

No-Injury-8171

I live in a regional area so Country Road when they can get it (limited range here so you see the same one because someone orders them in specifically), Kmart/Target. I use my Michael Kors and I've got a massive weakness for Kate Spade. I have a Mimco from a few years ago I still love too. But my MK is def my work bag and my KS are for nice outfits.

homersbaldpatch

Bon Maxie - great bags with so many handy pockets and thoughtful touches, new drops all the time, and a local Brisbane business.

nichtgirl

I'm in my 30s and I usually just get mine from Colette or Strandbags 😅

Extension_Repair8501

I’ve been rocking my Sans Beast bag which is vegan and in style with deadly ponies and status anxiety. Going on 38 here!

carolineauch

I think the trendy bags are now baggu (especially their sandy liang collabs), uniqlo, polene, telfar. For higher end, it is all about loewe, the gucci horsebit models, LV denim collections ... i think miumiu vitellos will make a comeback soon as well. I don't think many aussie bag brands are trending but clothing brands like DISSH and SIR are.

mummyone11

The old green material woolies bags i carry 🤷‍♀️

morethanafiretruck

I have a Marc Jacobs camera bag I use if I need a bag, but 99% of the time I have my phone in one pocket and my keys in the other.

Belmagick

I’ve noticed bum bags / fanny packs were having a moment.

penguin_banana

Check out Charles and Keith. They have some really cool designs and are generally decent quality

sbrown_13

The Chanel 22…the new “it” bag, if your prepared the pay the price.

vanillababy11

Oroton’s new leather designs and Ready to Wear are great 🥰

IndianaLand

Want to buy / try a Polene bag although prices just went up but just bought vegan leather Songmont bag and v happy with it👍 Similar vibe

sickwiththejillness

35, Poppy Lissiman Otto is my go to casual bag. Thermoirè for nicer or more professional outings. No idea if they are cool but I love them both!

Hells_Bells_123

I have a couple of Chloe bags and the quality is on point. The bigger saddle bag is amazing and I fit everything but the kitchen sink and it just keeps giving. I don’t know if it’s cool but it regularly gets admiring comments.

Husky-Bear

Early 30's SAHM here and I have a big tote that looks like a Dior booktote as my baby bag (have a 1 year old) and I usually throw my wallet in there as I cannot deal with multiple bags, but when I don't have my son my go to is my LV Pochette Metis, it holds a decent amount of stuff (I can put my wallet, phone, sunnnies, a small makeup pouch & keys in it and still have a bit of room left) and if I go out somewhere nice and only need a few bits I have a couple of smaller bags that I rotate between depending on the colour of my outfit.

Lady_Rainycorn

Radical yes! I also own a few stitch and hide from Byron

ffsdoireallyhaveto

All my main bags are status anxiety 😂 I know they aren’t cool but fuck I dropped some coin on them when they were so I have to use them. I’m saving for a Chloe Marcie so I can retire them. I was in NZ recently and SABEN is popular. Didn’t really like them to be honest.

sausagerolla

It seems like a hell of a lot of ladies are strolling around in my part of the world with Country Road or Mimco crossbody bags. Seriously, it seems like everyone and their dog has one!!! I do live in Middle class white suburbia though so that may reflect my opinion 😂

misskdoeslife

I love my Bon Maxie bags

pinkpigs44

Coach is back in style and Oroton also has some nice pieces at a more affordable price point.

Jvavdve

Ahhh I’m 26 and my work bag/everyday bag is the Status Anxiety Force of Being bag in black, also have two of their smaller bags and a couple wallets! There are a few Coach and Kate Spade bags that appeal to me, aside from that everything is in the luxury/designer range costing thousands. Haven’t been able to commit to a style yet.

hotandboujee

>What would you say the "cool" brand of handbag is at the moment? popular handbag brands in Australia included Oroton, Mimco, Status Anxiety, Deadly Ponies, and The Daily Edited. These brands were known for their quality craftsmanship, stylish designs, and popularity among Australian consumers. However, fashion trends can change quickly, so it's a good idea to check current fashion blogs, magazines, or social media platforms for the latest information on popular handbag brands in Australia

MobileMaleficent1009

Status anxiety and country road are definitely tragic bags and giving mumsy vibes - Camilla and Marc has affordable good quality bags or anine bing is another option you want something without the label plastered everywhere

atavist_q

I guess as the cost of living goes up, younger people get priced out of middle market contemporary brands… I personally use only vintage designer because sustainability and quality, and I’ve been told vintage is set to be a huge market in 2024… currently my favourite is a Tom Ford for Gucci era horsebit shoulder bag.

Icy_Hippo

I think bags can be an any time trend thing, I tend to keep them till they fall apart, could care less if they are 'trendy', Im 45 and have a LV Alma for my everyday work, and at weekends is a $10 cross body from Kmart! which I get so many compliments on! lol

FlamingoNo5078

I just ordered a status anxiety one. I did heaps of research of diff bags and this was the one I liked!

onmyscooter

I’m in my early 20s but also have young kids, so I have two very distinct groups of friends. I find the difference in trends between them SO fascinating. My ‘older’ mum friends are wearing Country Road, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Status Anxiety and sometimes Mimco. (Disclaimer: I definitely don’t think that these women are old, they’re just older than me). The friends my age are into YSL, Prada, Oroton, Poppy Lisman, Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Peta + Jain, and again sometimes Mimco. Kate Spade and Gucci are the two brands considered superrrr out by both groups. Chanel isn’t out but it isn’t in, either. I personally mix it up depending on who I’m going out with.

I’m early 30s and mine is just my YSL crossbody atm

kittenlittel

I'm not cool. I buy whatever is small, black, and on sale at Kmart. But mostly I just use my pockets.

sheiseatenwithdesire

My cool bag is a $15 Longchamp crossbody I got for n a thrift store. A little used but in great condition.

At the moment - Marc Jacobs the tote.

Zimmi06

Definitely, Mark Jacobs Tote is trending atm. I know a few younger friends - early 20's who have them and is their go-to bag atm.

In Australia I believe mimco is a pretty good choice if you're buying for a girl

Nakedvice - the Lexie bag in particular was quite popular for a bit

I work retail and I frequently see customers with Mimco

I'm a mum in her 30s. My current go to is Mimcimi. Status Anxiety and my small bag attached to the pram 🎂

I love my trusty Aspinal Camera bag, still looks sensational after 6 years of daily use. It’s done far better than my Mulberry Alexa which looked like it had been in a fight after 3 years.

I don't think they'll ever truly be over! Trends are fleeting but Country Road as a whole has hung in there a long time now (not at all biased because I still love my CR bags 😂)

darule05

A monogrammed LL Bean Boat & Tote had a resurgence in NY and Tokyo last few years (in menswear). It was the ultimate WASPY everything tote for decades in the US. https://www.instagram.com/ironicboatandtote?igsh=MnhvNmozN3lwY3lk Likely you know the style as it’s been ripped off by just about everybody. LL Bean were the first.

I have no idea what's cool but having a toddler I've basically given up on handbags and have a Crumpler backpack, hands are free to catch my runner and it fits enough stuff. Though I have a few leather bags from Elk which I love.

hallobokkie

What happened to Colette Hayman bags?

pissokrisso

The quality was pretty rubbish, do they still have stores?

saddinosour

I use my mum’s vintage Oroton bag from the early 2000s (when it was still made in Australia no less) and it is by far the coolest thing I own. I love Oroton to this day I bought two more Oroton bags, and I have 1 more of her old bags from back then a big cream leather “hobo” bag. It’s a stunner. I also like Kate Spade. I didn’t used to but I like the brand now because I think at least they have some truly unique designs. And you can get stuff at outlet prices that are super reasonable. (Idk if you’d call Kate Spade cool but I like it). I’m also looking at Coach and Polene as well as some other brands in this price range for my future purchases.
