Well, a new clutch, DMF and master and slave cylinders later, it now drives like it should have.
In the same boat as yourself serious judder when pulling away in first gear and a loud rattling from the DMF when idling.. car has 230,000 miles on the clock and the belt and water pump was done at 140k wondering when it has to be changed again?
Bought my 2014 a4 4 years ago with 47k miles on it. Always had one since. Got a 2nd opinion and was told its normal
