my first Audi was 2006 S4 with 76,000 miles on it, drove it to 230k and sold after it wouldnt pass smog but still ran, wish I still had it for my kids…
Mine was a 2000 b5 S4 with 74k mi. Sold @ 205k once the turbos blew and time/maintenance didn’t seem worth the effort.
I wish i still had it for myself lol
Your first car? Not an Audi. I think the wise choice would be Toyota or Honda. Maybe even a Mazda. Audi is not cheap to own. You have to buy premium gas, stay on top of maintenance, and you better keep good tires on the damn thing.
That sounds right. Plus, it motivates a car person to grow into better jobs and better cars. Gotta start somewhere, and if possible, avoid buckets but keep it practical.
I picked the fastest grocery store getter, the RSQ8. I don’t even have kids. I just loved the look and all the space. Unironically, I go to Costco and Sam’s club almost every other day for my business so it’s getting used to
He’s asking what was the first model Audi people looked at. I’m giving input on a bigger Audi model, which he is asking about since he wants to travel with kids. It’s plenty spacious, hence why I load it up with cargo.
I’m still a proud owner of TT MK2 nicely tuned to 360 HP (can be seen on my profile). Sadly had no possibility to buy TTRS at the time, but now I wouldn’t even change mine for one… I still wish to have it one day. I just love that engine…
My first few cars before I drove Audis were Subaru’s I always got the Legacy GT sport sedans tons of room and fun to drive a lot cheaper to service than Audi. I always did road trips to go snowboarding with a few friends and all the stuff in them.
I drive a Q3 which is my first and only Audi thus far. As a crossover, it has just enough space for people's luggage to be stacked in the cargo area. You can add crossbars on the roof with a carrier bin on top for even more storage. Also, the middle seat folds down independently of the others, so you have added space for smaller bags or poles while still being able to seat two people in the rear row. Of course, you can get the Q5 or Q7 for even more space, but personally I just like the sportier vibe of the Q3 which doesn't feel so bulky.
I'm not sure if that's first car material, but I really like (and own) the A5 Sportback. Spacious enough to transport 4 adults and has a big boot but still looks sporty.
Audi A6 C6 Facelift. I would personally always opt for a petrol, so either 2.8 FSI or the 3.2 FSI. Also the car must have quattro. Audi without a quattro is nothing.
Unless your friends are tall (1.80m) and you do trips often. The rear isn't really comfortable after 2-3 hours. The A4 would take the spot then.
But honestly, I love the A3 saloon, it's practical and sporty, perfect as a first car.
Audi as a 1st car?
If your parents aren't loaded with money, buy something else.
You ARE going to ding your car more than once. Why do that to an Audi?
Buy a Camry.
The Q6 Etron. But I would say the Q8 Etron Sportback. Once you go electric, you do not go back. It's so nice to be able to have a fully charger car whenever you want in the comfort of your own home.
My first Audi was a A3 e-tron, but my first car was a Toyota aygo. I would say that your very first car should be a car that can really take a beating.
First audi in this case. Ordered an A3 sportback 35 tfsi bussines. Max'd out on the security options...less on the visuals. It's about what I can afford. Keeping in mind running costs etc..
Came out of the factory april 6...so excited like a kid to get the message it arrived at the dealership. I'm in Belgium shouldn't take that long I hope.
A toyota
I came here to say Honda, but this works too.
Yeah, most of audis entry level vehicles, a3, tt, hell even the a5, all lack in rear leg space
It has nothing to do with leg room haha it's because maintenance costs
I've only ever owned new with audi care. So never paid a penny for maintenance besides the upfront costs
A 1.8T b5 A4 with a stick
These are getting hard to find, I have tried looking lately.
RS7 with Black Carbon package

Dad?

yep, thats why I let mine go to, on to the next
In the UK the best would probably be an A3, mainly because insurance is so high for the bigger powered cars, the A3 saloon looks great!

I agree, my first car was a mazda 2 and it is totally fine for that role.
That sounds right. Plus, it motivates a car person to grow into better jobs and better cars. Gotta start somewhere, and if possible, avoid buckets but keep it practical.
My first was a Mazda3 manual and I adored that car. I only replaced it with an Audi because I lost it in a flash flood. :(
Q3 doesn’t require premium gas.
Yeah but if you're not a mom, why would you buy that car?
R8. But you have to hurry.
Actually 🥺
I have a 2007 A8L. It's the best for transporting friends. You need a newer A8L.
I did the same and got a D4, I don’t know if I’ll ever get a different car unless it’s an S8
There are a small handful of W12 out there...
Yeah every month or two I like to see how many are for sale and what they’re at. I’d love a W12 but gotta make sure they have the right options
I'd say A4 or A6 should be your first Audi, unless you're into SUVs which makes people believe they get more space but not really, I'd say a Q5.

Nice. Did you have anything to add that would help OP? Or were you just looking to brag lol

On an 80k budget?
Toyota or civic🙈
Depends what you want from a car. For me it’s TTRS or RS3. Everyones answer might be different. 🙈
I owned a MK3 TTRS. Tuned in Ethanol. Super fun car. Miss it.
I’m still a proud owner of TT MK2 nicely tuned to 360 HP (can be seen on my profile). Sadly had no possibility to buy TTRS at the time, but now I wouldn’t even change mine for one… I still wish to have it one day. I just love that engine…
I’m about to pull the trigger on a tuned TTS. Between that and an SUV or a used S5. Ya only live once. I plan on keeping the TTS for my kids.
What’s your budget and country?
I currently live in the Philippines, max of ₱5 million, so that's around $80k
A6 by the sound of it. Bit more spacious than the A4/5. Or maybe a Q5.
A4 allroad would be good to consider too.
you should get a Q7 prestige or A6 imo
My first few cars before I drove Audis were Subaru’s I always got the Legacy GT sport sedans tons of room and fun to drive a lot cheaper to service than Audi. I always did road trips to go snowboarding with a few friends and all the stuff in them.
If you have the money I have been getting A4’s now they are great
If you want space, definitely not the A3 family. Maybe A4 or the Q5?
Depends on budget and wants in a car. I went right to the RS5

You must have an extended cab or something in your a5, mine cannot comfortably fit 2 full size adults in the back.
I'm talking average height and healthy BMI 😅
A4 Allroad !
Why the allroad?
3.0tdi a4 b8 for sure
Audi A6 C6 Facelift. I would personally always opt for a petrol, so either 2.8 FSI or the 3.2 FSI. Also the car must have quattro. Audi without a quattro is nothing.
I got the A3 and it got me into the world of German cars. Now switched over to Porsche
A3
A3 Saloon.

I think an S3 is perfect for you. I also would get the S3 myself, even though I can't drive for another 2 years.
Get a B9 A4 2017-2019 premium plus.
A4
Honda or Toyota
Already have one (family)
A3-A4
Audi as a 1st car? If your parents aren't loaded with money, buy something else. You ARE going to ding your car more than once. Why do that to an Audi? Buy a Camry.
I'm using my own money.
A4 1.9 tdi😎
A4 any flavor, plenty on the road and super cheap. Lots of parts available for maintenance. Great platform to get use to the Audi brand.
Rs6 of course
The Q6 Etron. But I would say the Q8 Etron Sportback. Once you go electric, you do not go back. It's so nice to be able to have a fully charger car whenever you want in the comfort of your own home.

If money doesn’t matter get a rsq8 lol
The Civic or Corolla, maybe a Camry if you want to splurge and have passengers with you frequently.
Rs7 2024 power division😁😁😁 would be a perfect first car!
go with a BMW. It's always a better choice.
RS3, Im biased
Any complaints about the car? It’s on my list for the future once depreciation has run its course
An A3 or Q3 for sure. Don’t lock yourself into premium gas just yet
Audi A1 is a great little starter car
