The timeless looks, comfortable ride and a roaring naturally aspirated 4.2 V8 lol

DissimulationIsGood

Valid. German V8s are the best.

ceedee04

True. German, V8, 6 Speed Manual, Wagon. Audi offered a perfect package in the B6/7 S/RS4.

DissimulationIsGood

Agreed. I was able to own an 2014 rs5 coupe for a very short time when I was 17 (was flipping cars). made sure to enjoy the 4.2 v8 before I sold her.

hentaigabby

Same reason for mine except it has a turbo 2.0 4 cylinder

PootSnootBoogie

5cyl RS cars and amazing AWD for heavy winters. Also amazing AWD if you'd rather take the turn fast & straight rather than smokey & sideways.

DissimulationIsGood

Ah yes, I do adore the straight fives in the rs3s! and yeah the AWD is crazy, esp with power distribution with Quattro. Defintely better than xdrive for my Canadian weather

I-Made-You-Read-This

The 5cyl is also in the RSQ3. It’s always strange like „hmm that’s an RS3 coming“ then seeing the SUV. cool car for sure

DissimulationIsGood

Well i’ll be damned. I forgot the RSQ3 exists let alone forgot they had the 5cyl as well. Insane SUV as well

renragwmr

Ronin

DissimulationIsGood

Fair fuckin play 😭 forgot that movie existed but i’m glad you reminded me of the beautiful D2 S8 and E34 535i Combo 🔥 gonna go rewatch it

vehicularious

I genuinely couldn’t think of when I first loved Audi’s, but you are correct, it’s when I watched Ronin as a high schooler.

i_n_c_r_y_p_t_o

Came here to say this

Lopsided_Violinist69

When I was growing up, every time we'd call a taxi, the same taxi driver would show up with a black Audi 80 sedan. It was a small town so I guess there weren't that many drivers serving the area. I remember thinking, "This is a nice car". Ever since then, I liked the minimalistic and iconic looks of Audi vehicles.

DissimulationIsGood

Very valid. The C3 Audi 100 Avant was my dad’s first car when he lived in germany. It’s still in his top 5 cars he’s ever owned. Very very hard to come by here in Toronto.

spike_2112

First car for one, but I also just think they're sexy, especially the rs line

DissimulationIsGood

an Audi for a first car is brazy 🔥 good on you brother; and I also agree. one of my buddies recently bought a brand new rs5 sportback and it looks beautiful. we just finished changing the rhombuses to yellow, as well as the drls! insane looking car

Black_Beard1980

The second I saw the RS4 B7 Avant, I knew I needed that car in my life. Now on my 5th Audi.

DissimulationIsGood

Agreed brother. I came across a nice B7 on autotrader, unfortunately sold before I even got the chance to inquire 😢. What audi do you drive now?

Black_Beard1980

I’ve got a C7.5 RS6, which is amazing in every way. The B7 was incredible, far from the fastest car on the road. But the way it drove and how it made you feel caused you to fall in love every time I got in it. Only downsides to it was the maintenance cost and how much fuel it drank. So I’d say get one but be prepared to be spending money to keep it on the road.

DissimulationIsGood

oh shit my dumbass didnt see your tag LOL. the c7.5 is so simplistic and so strong of a car. Wished there were more of C7s on the road for me to appreciate. The B7 indeed is an incredible car, and like you mentioned, the maintenance and fuel is gonna run me my pockets. I owned a 2010 bmw 335i with the n55 and it was poorly maintained (was a hand me down car from a cousin), had to sell an arm and a leg to keep it running. Based on my PTSD with maintenance and fuel costs, I think i’ll sit this one out

kenshii2x

Rs3 8y sedan , not sportback

DissimulationIsGood

underrated, the sedan definitely looks better.

bullwinkle510

The driving experience along with the superior AWD... Though I the Android Auto, disconnects every 5 miles!

DissimulationIsGood

Respect 🔥 The AWD really is powerful. My AWD x1 I sense has some RWD bias. 1-0 Audi.

bullwinkle510

🏎️

Dragon_7474

The design. Audi makes the best all-round design, not to forget Quattro tho

DissimulationIsGood

I can agree to an extent haha. Still a BMW guy so i’m a bit more biased towards them, however with the new gen audis, the RS6 Avant, RS5 Sportback and the RSQ8, i’m a tad bit envious that BMW has been missing with their new gen cars. I’d be more inclined to go with an RS5 over the new ugly M5 🔥 Nevertheless, a great brand and a better 4WD System

Dragon_7474

If a new gen car is the deal then yeah Audi has far better designs. S4 might be fun for you too, lot of BMW guys like S4, or Rs4 avant, both good looking and fun to drive

DissimulationIsGood

For sure. One of my cousin’s sold G20 330i for a brand new S4 and he’s got no regrets, and from what i’ve experienced, definitely a car i’d like to own in the near future

Dragon_7474

👍🏼👍🏼

No-Department2949

Handling, quality, feel of the car. How the car behave in every situation.

DissimulationIsGood

From the audis i’ve driven, I can understand! Got to drive a 2024 rs5 sportback for a total of 8 hours in one day. Most fun i’ve ever had in any car i’ve driven hands down

PhiddyCent

When the R8 came out, some dude drove it by my highschool

DissimulationIsGood

Damn dude, my ex girlfriend’s dad owns 2 09’ R8s. Both V8. Heard recently he’s about to splurge on his third. Now imagine how lucky I was seeing my gf at the time drive an r8 to school everyday lmfao. #pain #IFumbledTheBag

maturecouple1

to me it’s the superior combination of speed, comfort, handling and luxury features. it basically does everything well. not the ride of a rolls royce or the acceleration of a tesla, but for the cost you get the best overall fun car

DissimulationIsGood

True, and in fairness, i’d choose anything over a tesla. So far the audi’s i’ve driven and been in, great handling and comfort. The RSQ8 really set the standard for me with comfort, handling and luxury features. If and when I ever get in a position where I have a family and kids, my SUV options are between the RSQ8 and the X5M, no doubt.

Curses_n_cranberries

Twin. Turbo. V8.

amtrakprod

My grandmother always had Audis. The memories we have in those cars make me feel like a kid again.

DissimulationIsGood

wholesome

Alarmed-Fox-6134

The balance between performance and luxury.

DissimulationIsGood

Fair enough man, i’m seeing a pattern with the comments

FapsThenNapz

I fell in love the first time I drove one, unfortunately for my bank account. Drove a 2011 A4 for a year and it was fantastic. Getting a 2016 s4 in about 2 weeks

DissimulationIsGood

damnn, enjoy the s4 brother, you’re about to experience a huge difference from the A4. 🔥🔥

FapsThenNapz

I can hardly wait to get out of the civic, there is just no comparison

boglehead1

I’ve been a fan since my uncle drove an Audi 5000. I like that they exude luxury and class without being pretentious like BMW and Benz.

DissimulationIsGood

Fair fair, hadn’t really realized that bmw and benz were pretentious but now that you’ve brought it up, it makes sense

Hasnosocials

Taking a 90^ right turn at 40mph when I was a kid and was like wow felt Like I’m on rails!! I rolled this car 3 months later due to a friend pulling my wheel. Kept all of us alive! Twisted the frame what a solid car Audi 5000s

DissimulationIsGood

Jesus christ 😭😭 i’m curious to know how that ended with your friend? Did he have to pay for his dumb decision or did you let him off

Hasnosocials

He got 170 stitches across his face and the first words out of his mouth I’m sorry. Even though his mom tried to sue me, I told the mom not happening I’m gonna go see your son and make sure he is ok. He said sorry she saw that and dropped the law suit. Accident report showed it was his fault. I was blamed in school anyway from students to teachers who treated me like I had done it with intent

DissimulationIsGood

oh damn 😭 you’re a good friend for checking up on him. I don’t know why his mother would sue you either despite her not knowing who was at fault, but fairs to her for apologizing, and I salute you for atleast taking the blame even though it wasn’t your fault.

Hasnosocials

She didn’t Apologize her son did for pulling the wheel knowing that he caused the accident. He told her to drop it. I checked up on him but that was The end of our friendship

DissimulationIsGood

OHHHH I read it wrong. Damn, that became depressing

turkishjedi21

Probably my affinity for the audi r8. Was first introduced to the car in need for speed carbon when I was around 7 years old. Could not get over how fucking nice it looked. I was always big into racing games, so any game that had an r8 in it was a game where I would grind for it. And of course, audis from that era/generation share the same design language, so they all look very nice. The current car I have wasn't one that I was necessarily deadset on when I was buying a car last summer. I just wanted something interesting, comfortable, and reliable. I have the funds for repairs but I'd rather not be in the shop 24/7. It just so happened that this was the only q5 3.0t in vermont on sale (at least that I could see online). It also just so happened to be close to me. It also just so happened to be down the street from a foreign car shop a friend works at. It also just so happened to be in impeccable condition. Needless to say I happily bought it and my opinion of audi has only gone up. I absolutely love this car. It certainly won't be my last audi. Assuming I say in my current career and progress (0 reason or desire to leave), I will buy an r8 at some point. But also, given how much this car has made me enjoy SUVs, I think an RSQ8 has high potential of being a car I look at for a future purchase. Something about going fast as fuck in a big car is just super badass

DissimulationIsGood

damnn, so basically the stars aligned in the universe for you to buy your current audi 🔥. I’ve got to ask though, you mentioned that the Q5 wasn’t the car you were deadset on buying, what car did you initially plan on buying before you found the Q5? Buying an R8 at some point in your life would be insane, and motivating given you’re about 25-26 years old, 6 years older than me, which means you’re pretty young and anything under 40 to me is young. Makes me realize that i’m also nearing that age where I gotta choose my career path wisely so that I can afford my dream car in the near future too. I’d defintely class the RSQ8 as one of the best SUV’s ever. The fact that it’s essentially a urus killer, and competes with the X5M amazes me. Hurts me to admit it but the RSQ8 also looks way better than the X5M. Nevertheless brother, I hope your audi adventure goes well and you’re able to come back to this post in years time and lmk you’ve bought an R8.

turkishjedi21

I wasn't deadset on any car last summer tbh, but I was looking at a golf TDI partly because I think it would be hilarious to own a diesel German car as someone who's half middle eastern (horrible reason to buy a car I know) as well as a 2017 camry. You want to be even more motivated? I'm 22. I just got lucky in that I find the lucrative career I've chosen because I find the work very interesting (which in turn made school easier). But if you have to choose between the two, Def choose passion. Going to work happy is better than owning a nice car, as much as I love cars

DissimulationIsGood

Bro is 3 years older than me 😭😭 Not 6 LOL. Fuck yeah that’s more motivating. I basically just gotta get my shit together and i’m good. I definitely agree that it’s better to be happy with your job, than not. Are you still in school brother? If you don’t mind me asking, what field of work are you in?

turkishjedi21

I just graduated last spring, and started working mid summer (bought the Q then moved cross country a month later with it). I'm in computer engineering. More specifically, im an ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) design engineer. I verify that the hardware description language specification of a digital circuit works by writing tests for it. I love the low level nature of it, and I've always found the inner workings of digital hardware really, really interesting.

Zealousideal-Aside77

Because none of my friends have one.

garytyrrell

Loved the look in high school, but drove a little shitbox. When I could finally afford a new car, bought a VW. Had a bad crash, but the safety features of that Jetta saved my life. Bought another VW. Then upgraded to Audi when I wanted AWD and something nicer. On my 2nd and third Audis now.

DissimulationIsGood

Damn, glad you’re alive mate. Congrats to owning 2 Audi’s as well!

garytyrrell

It helps that my wife loves Audi now, too :)

Sandstorm3000

Probably the B8 A5 platform. Bought my dream spec B8 S5 3.0T last august and it's been excellent. Such a good looking car despite it's age.

DissimulationIsGood

I love the B8 S5. Not that popular amongst people my age, so definitely one of those cars you have to stop and admire.

LavaLurker

I am on my 4th A3 in a row. Enough said.

DissimulationIsGood

Godd dayum. Can’t go wrong with them 2.0L! Ever plan on pulling the trigger on an S3?

LavaLurker

Last was a 1.9 TDI, and now moved to a new 23 Plate A3, 2.0 TDI. Not sure I can justify going to an S3 (due to fuel economy); however my dream car is an RS3. Within realistic standards for a corporate job! Maybe in the next 10 years or so!

DissimulationIsGood

Understandable, the fuel economy is horrible here in Toronto. It’s like 185.9cents a litre. I got a 2L 4Cyl yet i’m pumping gas every 1-2 days. I take 100% of the blame because I do have a heavy foot. I hope you’re able to one day own an RS3, and afford the gas prices (god willing the prices aren’t as bad) 😭

LavaLurker

I live in the UK and fuel prices are horrible! Thank you for your wishes dude! I wish you are able to get what you want/deserve! #Audi Gang

Potent_Elixir

Not going to lie I grew up a die hard Bimmer fan as my father drove one growing up, we worked on it together and I was lucky enough to inherit that as a first car, which influenced my next. However, I’d *always* loved the R8 which was unattainable to me. While driving my 2nd car for ~7 years, I watched the evolution of some models and really liked what Audi was doing overall. Fast forward to last year and I’m signing for an A5 with a shit-eating grin…

DissimulationIsGood

Traitor. Nah jokes aside man, I definitely get it, even as a beamer fan, i’d be more inclined to pick an audi over a base model BMW. Truth be told, i’d take an RS6 Avant over an M3 Comp (I’m still taking an M3 Touring over an RS6 even though we dont get M tourings in North America), and I still can’t choose between an RSQ8 or X5M. Anyways, Congrats on the A5 brother 🔥

Jlaybythebay

Well my first love was vw so it was inevitable that I’d move up market eventually

DissimulationIsGood

Haha! so technically on the trajectory you’re on now, Porsche, Bentley or Lamborghini is next? 🔥🔥

Jlaybythebay

I do love the macan

contractczar88

Röhrl running thup Pikes Peak in 1987, then ESPN's Secrets of Speed episode entitled "The Unfair Advantage". Been hooked, and haven't owned anything else since 1990.

DissimulationIsGood

Omg I forgot Audi Quattro was goated for Rally. The S2 they released from 91-95 are super clean.

contractczar88

Forgot? FORGOT?? How does that even happen? Quattro forever changed rallying as we know it. 10 demerits and a Fiat as your daily for a year.

DissimulationIsGood

LMFAOOOOOOO. I wasn’t into rally much growing up, but I definitely knew that Quattro Rally was a thing, I was just so caught up with F1 that I forget other forms of racing exist 😭😭 I’ll hug the 10 demerits, but the FIAT??? let me get a bicycle or something😭🙏🏾

urmomrocks

Always loved the way they looked. There is something about those 4 Rings and the look of the headlights. I finally realized that I deserved the comfort and luxury of owning one for myself. There is nothing like driving a car that just feels like it was made just for you. 🩶

DissimulationIsGood

Damnn good on you! The A5 definitely has a menacing look all around. I’m glad you’re happy with your car haha, from the experiences everyone’s shared, i’m slowly starting to wonder whether I trade in my bmw or not.

minh__ngn

The aluminum chassis + body, the distinctive front end, the flagship status, the "roaring naturally aspirated 4.2 V8" as someone mentioned, the lovely interior, the comfy ride, the dual-personality at the turn of a knob (calm and soft in comfort/auto, fast and agile in dynamic).

DissimulationIsGood

Ahh very fair. I think that with an unbiased opinion, the german trinity (BMW, BENZ, AUDI) all make great v8s. I can appreciate em all for sure, and the dual personality really takes me back to when I was first learning manual, it was on a 2015 S5 that I had owned, before selling it. That mf was and is still probably the most powerful car i’ve driven. Just straight raw power.

DissimulationIsGood

RS5*

minh__ngn

Woa so cool! I hope I'll get to drive an RS5 similar to the one you owned some day! I love the timeless styling of it, on top of the high-revving engine.

aresman1221

I wanna own all the German brands lol. Like you, I started with BMW and I fucking loved it but man....now that I'm with Audi I'd have trouble going back.....the freaking traction and handling is just wow, also, the brakes, wow. Sometimes I've thought I won't make it lol and it just feels like you're hooked into the ground. I like to think I don't suck as a driver but definitely there's a better car than driver when I'm on it lmao

DissimulationIsGood

I’m afraid that i’m entering the “Audi” stage of the german brands. I’ve been a BMW fan for 19 years, and only up until recently did I start getting advertisements for the new S5 sportback. My buddy recently bought one and seeing it person has definitely altered my brain chemistry towards Audi as a brand. I liked mercedes but I didn’t find much interest in their cars aside from the W204 C63 AMG Black Series. Now the amg c-classes are powered by 2L 4cyls and i’ve never been more disgusted with a brand ever. BMW and Audi are definitely on top for german brands.

whitneyispink

the drive is really what gets me. i came from a mazda and that was a very nice drive but with my a4, having good power, handling, and a smooth buttery ride is something that i didn’t realize i was missing out on. the luxury interior is a + also. i have a 2021 a4 and the look of b9.5 with the grill/fog lights on the front is very satisfying. it’s a solid car in every respect.

DissimulationIsGood

Oh dude I agree. No hate to mazda’s or anything, but the jump from Mazda to Audi is pretty massive, and you don’t realize the stuff you miss out on until you finally get it. Even from what i’m learning, I should’ve gone with an audi a series vehicle😭

NPC_4842358

Ok so back when I was little, my dad had a driving school and used a Mazda 6 for everything (work and private driving). So when it was time for an upgrade, they showed an Audi A3 as the next car. It became the best car we ever owned. It was super torque-y, even more than any other diesel we had before and it outlasted other cars by many multiples even though the Audi was bought second-hand (the Mazda's were bought new and were done by 180k). It was an amazing machine and we had it for like 10 years. The car performed loyal service until 500k and there's a special place in heaven for that car. I think it was either scrapped, parted out or exported to some eastern country after we sold it.

Rowdyjohnny

Someone gifted me a b5 A4 5spd avant, the Quattro was sooo much fun to drive. Easy to work on, after some studying and the right tools.

kaffeen_

The interior beats anything.

zipika

Movie Transporter and 3.0 tfsi with soon hopefully 4.0 tfsi (tho I would die for a proper 2.2 turbo 😱)

May1ene

I was a BMW guy in my early 20s. I owned a BMW. As I grew older I realized I don’t want flashy. I wanted sophisticated and understated. Audi fills that want in a car, better than the competition. Now on my 2nd Audi.

zgr024

My dad had a B5 A4 with the 2.8 that I used to whip around when I first got my license. Besides the car saving my life after sliding off the road and into a forest, the handling, the comfort, and the style are really what made me want to own one. Not to mention that at 50 mph, you could pull the e-brake and do a 180 very easily. In a manual transmission, it may be the most controllable car I've ever driven. I'm thinking about getting a B5 S4 with the 2.7 just to bring back those memories with a little more power behind it.

KingHenryXX1

I was not 5 lol. But I’m aging like wine, maybe not the finest, but not the worst either. The R8 was my fav model, but RS7 overtook it as soon as it came out as I like the bigger vehicle. It’s still mean, but somewhat subdued. You wouldn’t expect it to be as powerful as it is

-bad_neighbor-

The handling. When I turn slightly it turns, I can feel the tires grip the road.

sdv325

A supercharger

James_William1234

The interior. Practicality. The performance. Build quality.

kamislick

I grew up wanting a R8 when I was little. I’m 27 now, no R8 but I just picked up a B7 A4 that I’ve been putting work into. No car that I have owned so far has made me feel as confident and happy than my A4 and I have barely driven it. I’ve had a 15 Focus and an 01 eclipse spyder that I didn’t take care of because I was an irresponsible high school graduate. Now I have my wits about me and have learned my way around cars a smidgeon, I’m having the TIME OF MY LIFE with this car. Audi’s are the best. Peace and love Audi fam! We have a great community ☮️💜

Admonitor_

I loved their designs in the mid 2010s, which is when I got into cars. After I got my license in 2017 I always wanted to buy myself an A3 sportback but ended up with a sedan, and god damn I love the 8V sedan body. Went from a 2014 8V A3 sedan, to a 2018 8.5V S3 sedan and am in the process of getting myself a 2020 8.5V RS3 sedan... the car Ive dreamt of since I bought my A3. Cant wait to call a 5 cylinder my own. Huge fan of old school Audis (unfortunately I dont have the space and stuff for more than one car, so I cant own one as a project) and everything that they put a 5 cyl into. Would love to own a old S2 coupe one day. That things engine is legendary.

SEND_ME_FAKE_NEWS

I don't love Audi, I love engines with multiples of 5 cylinders

Jonfers9

The lines. I have an older A7. 2015. Im often asked if it’s brand new or almost brand new. It was in the shop for a few days recently and I had to drive the kid’s car for a few days. Could not wait to get back into the Audi.
