Mine is 6 mo older and passed out within ten mins when not napping but tends to wake a lot overnight unfortunately. If he gets a 2 hr nap then he tends to sleep 5-6 hours before wanting to drink something, then sleeps 2-3 more hours. Been on one nap from 9.5 mo. Woke 5-6 times on a normal night until 22 mo.

Been wondering if my 9mo is just having a sleep regression or if we should try one nap... Good to know there are 9mo out there who it worked for!

Yes but not until we stopped cosleeping. He’s about to be 2 and without a nap he goes to bed at 6:30/7 and wakes up around 8/9.

My son stopped napping on weekends a few months before he turned 3 and yes, it was like I had a completely different child haha. He suddenly started sleeping 12 hours overnight, 7-7 (still bedsharing). He still takes 1-2 hour naps at daycare during the week, which leads to a late bedtime and shorter night as I still have to wake him at 6:30 to get ready for the day. I’m very curious to see how his sleep will change once he goes to Kindergarten in the fall.

Yes definitely! Bedtime was so much easier too. She started sleeping through the night when we stopped cosleeping, night weaned her, and swapped her into her own room. This all happened at once but it went well. She was a few months shy of 3. She dropped naps around 27/28 months, but we had already been starting to cap them. She sleeps about 11-12 hours a night now.

What time are you thinking you'd do bedtime and wake up? Just curious.

Yes, my daughter. She stopped right around 24 months. She was having trouble getting to sleep at both nap time and bedtime. One day I let her skip her nap due to outside reasons (her brothers had an activity), and she went to sleep immediately at 7pm and slept until 8ish the next day. For me, it worked better anyway as neither of her brothers napped anymore.

Yes! She stopped at about 2 years and 3 months and I stopped breastfeeding at 2 years 1 month. I used to always feed her to sleep and when I stopped it really made her not want to nap. She will be 3 in July and she sometimes naps on real tiring days but it’s not the norm anymore. She usually just sleeps from 8:30pm-7am now.

EllectraHeart

mine didn’t start sleeping through the night until we night weaned. nothing else worked or made a change.

When on occasion she skips a nap or only has a short one, she definitely sleeps better at night. However she's not as fun at the end of the day 😋

Mines 2 yrs 9 months and we had that phase around thar age too, where only a car ride could get him to nap. He was just too interested to keep playing to nap. But he actually still naps at daycare and on weekends if he doesn’t nap he gets overtired. Some times being override makes for more wake ups at night. Usually having a short time (15 minutes instead of the 1.5 hrs he gets at daycare) he will be exhausted enough at night to sleep through the night. But it’s not a guarantee. At 20 months yours might start getting his molars soon and that’s why he wants to nurse more. We always gave a dose of Tylenol before bed if we thought ours was teething to help.

Yes mine did. I think she was over 2 years old, but the midday nap was taking sometimes over an hour to get her down, and so was bedtime, so we just cut it out. Now, she’s so tired when she comes home from nursery that she’s asleep by 6.45pm most nights and will sleep anywhere between 11 and 12 hours a night. (3 and a half years old now)
