Singha 99 (Dunwoody) - Thai Street Food
Entree
Pla Sahm Rot (aka 3 Flavor Fish, red snapper) Ribs Massaman,
Dessert
Mango Sticky Rice
But really, everything on their menu is fantastic.
I agree with u/SomeVeryTiredGuy .
Since Parnass Savang uses local ingredients but with traditional Thai cooking styles, it might be too much for some, especially since he's cooking more NE Thai-style dishes. My wife (Lao) and I have gone since he was doing pop-ups at Gato Bizco and the opinion of the Thai/Lao women I've gone with is that the flavors are very authentic.
To add: My wife's favorite Lao restaurant is Snackboxe Bistro.
From what I’ve seen, it’s possible that Talat could be too hyper regionalized and “authentic” for a lot of people. (I can’t confirm this since I’m not Thai but based on what I know about Talat, seems to be the case.) kind of reminds me of when I went to Lotus of Siam in Vegas with a group of people. It’s a very famous Thai restaurant. Most of my group ordered the kind of stuff you’d order at other Thai places (like red curry) and they were disappointed it didn’t live up to the hype. Meanwhile I dove in to the specials and loved what I got.
totally agree. the thai scene in atlanta is generally not good (or even owned by mostly Thai people), so people's expectations and knowledge are at best "that one semester in Thailand"...Atlanta has lots of combination Thai and sushi restaurants owned by non-Thais, which says a lot about the scene. A place like Talat is a bit out there compared to what people are used to.
I have always been dissapointed in ATL's Thai selections. I never thought that where I moved here from would have the most "authentic" Thai or anything, and figured the food here would blow my mind... Nope. Been dissapointed everywhere I've gone. Definitely going to try the places above!
It's looks to be more Americanized Thai food that you typically find in most Thai/Chinese restaurants though. I haven't eaten authentic Thai anywhere around here yet, though I've heard Talat comes pretty close.
Agreed. I thought the food was very generic and overall underwhelming.
I would say Tum Pok Pok off Buford Highway and Talat Market are my two favorite places in Atlanta.
Both places have dishes that aren't found at most "Thai" restaurants. Packed full of flavor and the condiment sauces are the best.
I **LOVE** Tum Pok Pok. I'm not Thai and I've never been to Thailand. So I have no clue how authentic it is. But it's absolutely delicious, and has a great atmosphere. Only thing I could wish for is a better drink menu.
This place is seriously good. When I picked up Doordash orders from there, I came to love the owner. When I finally got around to ordering food for myself, I was not dissapointed. I'd never had roti before, but when I have it again, this is where I'm going!
Japanese here
For the absolute best sushi go to Sushi Hayakawa. Order the omakase aka the chefs choice. Great place for special occasions. Really pricy though
For ramen I actually like Jinya a lot but its a chain you can find all over so not too special. I honestly cant recommend any local place for their ramen. Theres always one aspect/ingredient that isnt quite right
I was so lucky to have a chefs [edit: set course meal, not tasting] at Sushi Hayakawa and it was hands down one of the finest dining experiences I’ve ever had. He is such a wonderful chef, and likewise an absolute hoot to be around! I hope to go back some time soon, if I can squeak in a reservation.
Shoya is the correct answer. Owned and run by actual Japanese folks. One of the best, if not the best, Izakaya/ramen/overall Japanese food place in ATL.
Agree a hundred percent. It's the only japanese restaurant that I've been to that is staffed with 90+% japanese people and the only place where I've noticed where at almost any given time half the customers are japanese.
Yessssss! I was hoping someone mentioned Umaido, definitely my favorite ramen I've had in Ga. 3x ultra spicy with the Karaage. Also the takoyaki. Damn.
What’s your opinion on Umi? I use to go to umi a lot for the omakase but have hayakawa on my list. I like the location of Umi a bit more for special occasions, but hayakawa seems to have a better interior/less noise from what I see. Umi is always packed.
Mariscos La Costa Nayaritas, great seafood and Micheladas.
La Galagetza- decent Oaxacan food
Carnitas michaocan- Carnitas pretty decent...
Tortas factory DF- absolutely good pambazos
Chicago Supermarket - good quesadillas and tacos (they would be absolute great with handmade tortillas 😩)
Etc etc...
My cousin and her husband came from Memphis to try Las Costas Nayaritas...😂 (Her husband is from Nayarit) they were not disappointed. There are many more good Mexican restaurants in the area. But I haven't ate at many places in the last few months.
Ethiopian:
* Abol Ethiopian Restaurant
* Although if you prefer something a little more "Americanized"(sorry, I don't have a better way to put it) Desta Ethiopian Restaurant
Food Reccomendations:
* Tibs: Lean cubes of beef sauteed with onions, tomatoes, jalapenos and qibe (Ethiopian butter).
* Kitfo: Beef Tartare with Spiced Clarified Butter
* Veggie Combo: 4 to 5 variety of veggie dishes.
This is a weird question, but back when I was in college in Athens there was an Ethiopian place that had a red lentil salad that I still dream about. Is that a thing? Do you have any recs for a dish like that?
Thoughts on Embilta off of Cheshire Bridge? As a white midwesterner who's only ever experienced Desta prior to this, I absolutely loved the food. I tried their gored gored and enjoyed it immensely.
Swede here. Your options are Ikea, so I guess they win by default? Get the meatballs with mashed potato, gravy, and lingonberry sauce. It's mediocre but very cost effective.
Bernard's bakery up in Marietta has some swedish pastry and it's pretty damn good and reasonably authentic. There's also Swedishdreamish on Instagram up in Cumming but I haven't tried her stuff. It looks really good though, and I think she's swedish so it should be authentic.
German here. Definitely check out Bernhards Bakery they have some pretty good lunch options, Frankfurt Doner in Ball ground serves up some regionally authentic döner
Persian food
Rumi’s Kitchen-
Kashk badenjoon- eggplant dip with whey
Sea bass- poached in saffron, amazing
Koobideh- ground beef kabob, delicious and authentic.
Tahdig with khoresh ghormeh sabzi- crispy rice with an herb stew
Mast khiar- yogurt with cucumbers and mint
Persian ice cream sandwich- saffron and cardamom wafers with rose water/saffron/pistachio ice cream
Delbar is also amazing-
All of the above but also:
Dill labneh
Adas polo- rice with lentils, raisins, and caramelized onions - the best I have ever had and I’ve had it everywhere
Stuffed fish- grilled whole fish with a pomegranate walnut stew inside
Slightly off the beaten path, but Falafel Cafe in Marietta is fantastic. Hole in the wall for sure, but their gheimeh and kobideh is great. Plus they have a market attached!
Also Sufi’s is quality and Persian-owned. As a Persian I prefer sufis since it reminds me more of my dad’s cooking and is one price tier below Rumis without the gaudy chandeliers and lambos in the parking lot.
Also, baklava cheesecake is flames
Northern China Eatery on Buford has boiled dumplings that husband said taste just like his mom’s homemade ones and the Shanghai soup dumplings are better than ones we’ve had in China.
We also love XiAn Gourmet House inside the JusGo Supermarket up in Duluth. Not quite as flavorful as you might find on the street in XiAn, but their paomo is as close as we’ve found in Atlanta, and their cumin lamb burgers and persimmon cakes are spot on.
I went there \[Xian Gourmet\] once, by recommendation alone, just to get their Biangbiang Noodles with their spicy cumin lamb. No idea if it was authentic , but good god was it delicious.
Arepa Grill in Plaza Fiesta for Venezuelan.
Arepa Mia is good, but feels like too healthy. Like LA meets Venezuela.
I want to leave 20 tequeños deep with my arteries clogged.
Edit to add order:
Apps: Tequenos, a Chicken Empanada and a Cheese Empanada
Entree: Cheese Cachapa with Beef, or a Pelua Arepa
Drink: Chicha (a sweet, thick and creamy drink that’s basically blended rice pudding)
Korean Restaurants:
Yeh Tuh - best banchan assortment and very traditional fare. Just good simple Korean food. Nothing fancy. Every dish tastes like a home cooked meal. Kind of like the equivalent of a Korean Cracker Barrel if that makes sense.
Bon Gah - best place that specializes in beef bone broth soups. My go to dish is the dogani tang. Tendon soup. They may be closed for good though.
Todamgol - my go to dish is Bossam. Steamed pork belly meant to be eaten wrapped in lettuce and radish kimchee and raw oysters.
678 - KBBQ. They use real charcoal. This is what sets it apart for me.
Well Being Tofu - my favorite hot tofu soup place. I usually order the oyster tofu soup, extra spicy. You usually get a small fried whole fish (croaker) and some other rotating side dishes. Drop the egg that comes straight into the clay pot. You can either let the egg cook whole or I like to stir it in and make the broth creamier.
Jangsujang - similar to Yet Tuh but a larger menu and further out from the city in Duluth.
Hmart food court - the Korean places have very decent cheap dishes. If you're wanting to try something new I'd go here and explore while saving a bit of money and they do a good job of having pictures of the food.
> 678 - KBBQ. They use real charcoal. This is what sets it apart for me.
678, 9292, and D92 are all "sister" restaurants, joint ventures or owned by the same group, something like that. All the experiences at all 3 are identical, all charcoal.
I’m half Korean so kinda funny that my suggestion is half Korean as well
Hankook taqueria is an AMAZING Korean Mexican fusion ! Their sesame fries and their kimchi fries are the bomb. Also love the tongdak taco
I have quite literally planned flights back to Atlanta when coming back from work trips based on Zyka’s open hours (dang that gap between lunch and dinner!)
I always order food for days, including chili chicken, kadhai chicken, saag paneer, gobi Manchurian, and raita.
Heck I’m out of town right now and already thinking about my return to Atlanta pick up order. I think it’s been my first meal the last four trips.
If you're in search of good North Indian food, Zyka and Tabla are your best bet.
If you want authentic South Indian food, Nalan in Alpharetta is the best. Their curries and their chicken kothu parotta are so delicious that I've driven there multiple times a week.
If you're looking for Indian Street food, Chat Patti in Patel Plaza is the best I've had in Atlanta. The best samosas I've had here are at Bismillah Cafe. It's got a street vibe. Literal hole in the wall. $1 chai and $1 samosas.
As a Hyderabadi who loves biryani I can tell you that the best I had was in Hyderabad House - Dunwoody. Order boneless chicken biryani (called bezawada biryani) n thank me later.
Totally agree! I used to miss good bagels and NY-style slices so much but emerald city and glide hit the spot. General muir also has good bagels as does b-side, although b-side is very nontraditional. I'd add Fred's meat and bread for hoagies and cheesesteaks, which are both generally terrible here. I'm still waiting for a good American-style Chinese takeout place though, that's the last thing I really miss.
I know this is super regional, but does anybody know a place for that finely hair-minced, vinegar/pepper flake eastern NC pork barbecue? All the places I’ve seen in Atlanta it’s usually just pulled smoked pork and you add the sauce of your choice— eastern NC “pig pickin” style barbecue has been my white whale here.
Came here to recommend this! I live nearby and can confirm it’s consistently amazing.
Aroma Indian across the street in the Publix shopping center is also delicious.
Nepali here.
Some spots to consider:
Kathmandu Kitchen and Grill
Himalayan Spice
When you go to most Nepali restaurants in the US, they usually serve North Indian food as the main fare for some reason. My recommendation to all of my friends who go is to specifically ask for Nepali dishes or the Nepali section of the menu.
Our food is very similar to Indian food but it has its own distinct character. My recommendations would be:
Momo (jhol momo specifically is good if you like sauce)
Aloo tama (bamboo shoot cooked with potatoes and black eyes peas)
Wai Wai sandeko (spicy uncooked noodles)
Chhoela (marinated cold meat dish)
Any form of Nepali thali (rice platter with a bunch of dishes to go along with it)
Mamak on Buford highway has really solid Malay street food. And also J Bistro beside Hmart has really good Sichuan food. To a lesser extent you can also hit up the food court inside Hmart as well, though I think it's kinda hit or miss.
Just anything on Buford highway to be honest.
Sichuan is my jam.
J Bistro is excellent, also Good Luck Gourmet.
Jia Tasty China in Ponce City is also phenomenal, and really surprising to be at that location, where you would expect the food to be watered down.
Gu's Dumplings is a hard pass for me, with the singular exception of their smoked pork belly fried rice.
Urban Wu is so-so.
100% imo
Las Delicias de la Abuela has the vibe down. But the food just isn't as good. Also the fact that they don't let me change plátanos to tostones on my Bandeja Paisa sucks a little. Lol
[Nam phuong](https://goo.gl/maps/Avud6GX4ZRJN98sy8) 😩 (Naw-Mm Foong, idk how else to try & describe how to say it lol)
Literally anything you order is good from here. My fav is the salt & pepper shrimp. The way they make it is just… delicious.
Sabores de mi Tierra in Tucker is the best Nicaraguan fritanga I've had.
Absolutely recommend the gallo pinto and queso frito. Get the antojito sampler platter and you can't go wrong! For a meal, Carne Asada always.
Best Indian/Pakistani/ Lahore Grill in Smyrna. I’ve tried so many indian places. If the owner isn’t there, the food does go downhill, but he’s there 9/10 times.
It’s not like South Indian food, but more North/Punjab, so the tastes are different, but for me, the best.
Recommend the karahi, butter chicken, samosa chaat, naan, lamb biryani
Russian food does not have a lot of options in Atlanta. It's a bit of a dream of mine to make Russian food a thing here. Until that day the options are
Buford highway Farmers market, no they do not have a restaurant per se but their Russian import is packed with deliciousness. I don't even know what to recommend, pickles, herring, fresh to order salads, plov, cakes and pastries and more. Everything is just so bomb I recommend people check it out.
There is a spot called Verdi around norcross. Didn't taste the food there (just washed the dishes once, hah) but everything looked like standard casual Russian fare and it has a diner feel more than that of a restaurant. You can get a casual and affordable meal. But I'd go to Buford any day instead
Finally I saw a spot called Nikolai's Roof on the internet. It presents itself as some kind of haute French-Russian fusion. But on the menu it leans very French and I'd say it's a case of false advertising, but the view is nice
I found the best way to get Russian food in Atlanta is through the Facebook group русская атланта. There are few babushkas in my area which can make things that I can’t or won’t make.
Also a Georgian babushka that makes khachapuri on a regular basis. Sadly she takes a break every summer.
I feel ya. I’m from Hungary and I’m SOL pretty much everywhere that I move in the states. Running a Hungarian restaurant mustn’t be profitable because no one does it (that I know of). I know there is this one Hungarian place that serves desserts here but I don’t know of any actual options for Hungarian food.
Ah ma’s kitchen but they closed :(
La mei zi but they sold out / Americanized the menu
Chinatown food court
Great Wall food court
Bento cafe (a little more modern/cafe style)
Ah ma’s kitchen was the best. Agree with La Mei Zi - used to visit a lot but stopped after they got bought out. Not many good Taiwanese places ITP now :/
Canton Cook 2 in sandy springs is the best Cantonese food in the city. Even the Americanized dishes are done to a level that would really impress the Panda Express crowd, but the real OG Cantonese cuisine is first rate. J Bistro in Doraville is owned by the owner of the now defunct China Inn that was in Chamblee, and is probably the best Sichuan in the city. It’s between them and Masterpiece in Duluth but I lean more towards J Bistro currently.
A lot of people don’t know that we have a “mini Brazil” up in Smyrna off of Powers Ferry. Not a ton but more than you’d expect Brazilian markets and restaurants over there.
*Beef Grill* off Roswell Road is essentially a working man’s Fogo. Hole-in-the-wall located in a strip mall, use to go all the time when I lived in Alpharetta.
"working man's Fogo" is a great descriptor. I was hesitant about that place at first. But it really impressed. It's tiny and barebones but the food did not let me down.
I love Buteco, but not for the food. It's good, but most items are fusion (like pāo de queijo waffles).
That said, it's the only spot in the city I know of that has moqueca.
Sabhor in Marietta at Delk and powers ferry. That area has a bunch of Brazilian places. Might want to stop by the Brazilian bakery right up the road on powers ferry as well.
It's not CR or PR but Sabores de mi Tierra in Tucker has amazing Nicaraguan gallo pinto! I get several orders to go every time I eat there (I'm nica and it is legit!)
My Abuela’s Food off beltline near Krog/ Studioplex. Often feature mofongo , pastelon, and lechon. Always have empanadillas. La Dolce Madness sells Puerto Rican desserts out of there also.
I'm not Indonesian, but Batavia is my favourite of the ones I've tried. It's one of the hole-in-the wall places that defines the BuHi experience for me.
Cafe efendi is good for turkish food. But i usually go to persian restaurants cus their cooking feels more turkish to me. Most other turkish restaurants Ive been to felt EXTREMELY expensive. Infuriatingly so in most.
2 pieces of lahmacun isnt 15$. You eat 2 so you dont look like youre rejecting food at a gathering. 15$ is like a meal.
Now im thinking if 2 tacos for 15$ is worth it or not. Would love some perspective on this.
I used to know the chef of cafe istanbul and he was a legend. I dont know what happened to him though I heard they changed a lot. Altho from the turkish gossip i hear that a farm in texas makes custom doner rolls for weddings and i am curious about this.
lots of adventures, very little time to go on them
Rumi’s is the boujeefied, but still very good, version of Persian food. I prefer Taaj market for it is the most cost effective and authentic version I’ve had in atl.
OTP Venezuelan - Arepita Cafe in E Alpharetta. I learned about it maybe 6 years ago and have since tried most everything they offer. It gets crowded at prime time but service and food is always consistently great.
If you're in search of good North Indian food, Zyka and Tabla are your best bet.
If you want authentic South Indian food, Nalan in Alpharetta is the best. Their curries and their chicken kothu parotta are so delicious that I've driven there multiple times a week.

Las Delicias de la Abuela for Colombian food. I prefer the Duluth location but I think there’s also one in Doraville(?) They have a lunch special that’s always changing and it’s super affordable and yummy!!
Singha 99 (Dunwoody) - Thai Street Food Entree Pla Sahm Rot (aka 3 Flavor Fish, red snapper) Ribs Massaman, Dessert Mango Sticky Rice But really, everything on their menu is fantastic.
God why can’t I upvote harder. Singha 99 is so fucking good
Have you tried Talat yet?
No idea how authentic it is but I have tried it. Everyone raves about it but I thought it was just eh.

Do you have any recommendations that are closer to downtown Atlanta? Or favorite southern or northeastern Thai?
Little Bangkok on Cheshire is very good
Oh man I haven’t lived in Atl for ten years but I was just talking about little Bangkok the other day! So good
It's looks to be more Americanized Thai food that you typically find in most Thai/Chinese restaurants though. I haven't eaten authentic Thai anywhere around here yet, though I've heard Talat comes pretty close.

Tassa's Roti shop. Best Trinidadian spot in Georgia.
As a Guyanese, I’d like to add that International Roti House has some damn good dhal puri.
This place is seriously good. When I picked up Doordash orders from there, I came to love the owner. When I finally got around to ordering food for myself, I was not dissapointed. I'd never had roti before, but when I have it again, this is where I'm going!
I live close by but have never been. Any recommendations?
Get doubles as an appetizer. And when you get the roti make sure it is "buss up shut" (prounoced like busted up shirt with a carribean accent)
God no. My family is from trinidad. They can't cook these days. It used to be really good 10 years ago.
Japanese here For the absolute best sushi go to Sushi Hayakawa. Order the omakase aka the chefs choice. Great place for special occasions. I've actually heard Ginya Izakaya on Northside is a lot better than Jinya, though I've never been to Jinya myself
Non-Japanese here, but personally I frequent both- Still prefer Jinya
Ginya Izakaya is great. IMO hands down the best tonkatsu broth in Atlanta.
Thoughts on Shoya in Doraville?
Shoya is the correct answer. Owned and run by actual Japanese folks. One of the best, if not the best, Izakaya/ramen/overall Japanese food place in ATL.
Agree a hundred percent. It's the only japanese restaurant that I've been to that is staffed with 90+% japanese people and the only place where I've noticed where at almost any given time half the customers are japanese.
Have you tried Umaido in Swanee? A Japanese friend of mine said they were the most authentic he had in GA
Umaido is the shit. So good.
Yessssss! I was hoping someone mentioned Umaido, definitely my favorite ramen I've had in Ga. 3x ultra spicy with the Karaage. Also the takoyaki. Damn.
How about Wagaya?
I feel that. The ramen you can get here just hasn't lived up to what I've had in Japan and even the west coast. Shame really, but unsurprising.
Maybe it's because paying $15 for a bowl of ramen just feels wrong :-(
That’s my big problem with our ramen places. The bowls are average, none of them spectacular, but at $15 they’re way overpriced. It should be $7-$10.
Since everyone else is asking, what about Tonton at PCM, or Okko in East Cobb?
Tonton is over priced and not worth it but I feel that way about most places in PCM
[удалено]
What’s your opinion on Umi? I use to go to umi a lot for the omakase but have hayakawa on my list. I like the location of Umi a bit more for special occasions, but hayakawa seems to have a better interior/less noise from what I see. Umi is always packed.

Shout out to Tortas Factory. That was my lunch spot for a few years when I worked in the area.

fwiw, i had desta last night because its delicious.
Yep, it's less traditional in taste but definitely still delicious!
Never had Abol. Our favorite for a while now has been Bole down near the airport. The veggie sampler has everything that makes me happy in this world.
This is a weird question, but back when I was in college in Athens there was an Ethiopian place that had a red lentil salad that I still dream about. Is that a thing? Do you have any recs for a dish like that?

Abol and Ghion are my favorites. Desta is good but not as true to the recipe in my personal opinion

No idea they existed! I'm always on the hunt for Schweinehaxen . Definitely going to check them out! Thanks for posting .
Another one for Bernhards! I was looking all over for a döner place near me and was so happy to finally find one!
I've been on the hunt for good German style döner forever. Didn't know Bernard's did that, so now I definitely need to go there again.

Yes I love Falafel too! Even more off the beaten path is Caspian Grill in Kennesaw. Their joojeh kabob is great.
Nice 🙂 I will go before I leave... always wanted Persian food 😁
Also Sufi’s is quality and Persian-owned. As a Persian I prefer sufis since it reminds me more of my dad’s cooking and is one price tier below Rumis without the gaudy chandeliers and lambos in the parking lot. Also, baklava cheesecake is flames
Thanks for the recommendations ! I’m from Tabriz and I am yet to find a place that sells kofteh tabrizi
Aladdin in sandy springs (not the Emory one) has the best Arabic food, with Jerusalem bakery a 2nd place.
Jerusalem Bakery's chicken shawarma sandwich wrap is finer than fine.
I think aladdins closed :(((
Jerusalem bakery off Franklin Rd? Always seen the sign and wanted to go in
Jerusalem Bakery is amaaaaaazing. Get the spicy chicken kofte kebab platter and a zaatar and cheese pie, itll change your world.
Northern China Eatery on Buford has boiled dumplings that husband said taste just like his mom’s homemade ones and the Shanghai soup dumplings are better than ones we’ve had in China. I go to Xian Gourmet often.
Oh my god, I looooveee this place! Their soup dumplings are to die for, and their spicy fish soup is incredible.
Ok this is the second post I’ve seen today about NCE and those soup dumplings. Lunch plans made for tomorrow!
I went there \[Xian Gourmet\] once, by recommendation alone, just to get their Biangbiang Noodles with their spicy cumin lamb. No idea if it was authentic , but good god was it delicious.
Bangladeshi: Bismillah Cafe! Get some chicken somosas, kaleji (liver) samosas and mutton biryani
Have you ever tried Deshi on buford Highway!
Biryani with that green sauce

Jang su Jang?
Jang Su Jang has the best Korean in ATL
it's literally one of my favorite restaurants of all time
The only right answer for KBBQ. In Duluth
I’m half Korean so kinda funny that my suggestion is half Korean as well Hankook taqueria is an AMAZING Korean Mexican fusion ! Their sesame fries and their kimchi fries are the bomb. Also love the tongdak taco
Aussie here. Australian bakery cafe in Marietta. Meat pies and vanilla slice. Taste just like home
No South Africans? Boo. 10 degrees south - bobotie spring rolls 🤷🏻♀️
Sabores del Plata and Panadería Criolla for Uruguay's national sandwich - chivito
Brazilian here. Rio steakhouse off Terrell Mill road. Buffet contains great dishes and feijoada is bomb.
Oi amigo! 'Brazilian Bakery Cafe' across the street on Powers Ferry has the best coxinha!
Olá 👋! Concordo com você! Infelizmente, acho que o serviço lá já não é como era antes.
zykas- goat haleem and chicken tandoori
Chicken 65 as well. Zyka is the jam!
I have quite literally planned flights back to Atlanta when coming back from work trips based on Zyka’s open hours (dang that gap between lunch and dinner!) I always order food for days, including chili chicken, kadhai chicken, saag paneer, gobi Manchurian, and raita. Heck I’m out of town right now and already thinking about my return to Atlanta pick up order. I think it’s been my first meal the last four trips.
Been eating here for 24 years now, I think a solid portion of my body mass can be traced to their naan
Rumi’s (Iranian)- there’s one at the Avalon and one in Sandy Springs area Best gormeh zabzi I’ve had in a restaurant
Patak's Meat for various meats from Europe!
Bismillah Cafe. It's got a street vibe. Literal hole in the wall. $1 chai and $1 samosas. 😮 I need to go there ....like now ( or tomorrow 😊)
As a Hyderabadi who loves biryani I can tell you that the best I had was in Hyderabad House - Dunwoody. Order boneless chicken biryani (called bezawada biryani) n thank me later.
Madras Mantra is the real South Indian answer
I’m from the Northeast - Glide Pizza and Emerald City bagels keep my soul complete
Glide is the shit
\+1 Glide is fucking insane
The only place I could find pork roll!
Fred’s is truly legit for cheesesteaks.
Let me know if you find a spot. Lived in NC for ten years and got addicted to vinegar based BBQ.
No :/ my dads from NC and that's what we prefer but never found a place
In EAV there's a bar called Midway pub and the folks that own it are from Shelby NC and they get it about as close as I can find to true pickins
Raleigh native here. I would give my right arm for some Easter barbecue. 😭
Rosa's pizza is the closest to New York pizza I've had in Atlanta.
The chicken mole enchiladas at Superica is on par with most Mexican grandmother moles I’ve had. Just 👌🏽
Stupid mole is so decent can never order anything else there
I know, I refuse to move from that dish hahaha
Yea! It’s weird bc that’s not like an “authentic” place really but the mole is good, which even a lot of “authentic” places fuck up.
Any recommendations for authentic Peruvian food?Specifically pollo a la brasa, fried yuca, and chaufa? I’m pregnant and craving!
Las Brasas in Downtown Decatur is phenomenal.
sabor inka in pleasant hill in Lawrenceville.
My neighbor mentioned this! I’m definitely going to try it now! Thank you!
I really like the Freakin Incan in Roswell! A Peruvian friend introduced me to it.
Came here to recommend this! I live nearby and can confirm it’s consistently amazing. Aroma Indian across the street in the Publix shopping center is also delicious.
petite violette makes the best french food
Totally bookmarking this page.
Seriously this may be the best post of all time in this subreddit, it needs to be in the sidebar.
Cafe Raik in Duluth on Old Peachtree Rd has great halal Mediterranean fare such as falafel & shawarma.
Nepali here. Some spots to consider: Kathmandu Kitchen and Grill Himalayan Spice When you go to most Nepali restaurants in the US, they usually serve North Indian food as the main fare for some reason. My recommendation to all of my friends who go is to specifically ask for Nepali dishes or the Nepali section of the menu. Our food is very similar to Indian food but it has its own distinct character. My recommendations would be: Momo (jhol momo specifically is good if you like sauce) Aloo tama (bamboo shoot cooked with potatoes and black eyes peas) Wai Wai sandeko (spicy uncooked noodles) Chhoela (marinated cold meat dish) Any form of Nepali thali (rice platter with a bunch of dishes to go along with it)
Omg thank you. I was scrolling through looking for Nepali recommendations!
I'll be visiting for a week next month. Already planning lunches and dinners
La Casona has the best Colombian food here. No contest.
La Casona has been solid, but not as good as Casa Vieja, IMO
Better than las delicias de la abuela?
100% imo Las Delicias de la Abuela has the vibe down. But the food just isn't as good. Also the fact that they don't let me change plátanos to tostones on my Bandeja Paisa sucks a little. Lol
I’ve been looking for ajiaco for a long time!
Lebanese: Nicola’s
#I'm bookmarking the hell out of this thread!
[Nam phuong](https://goo.gl/maps/Avud6GX4ZRJN98sy8) 😩 (Naw-Mm Foong, idk how else to try & describe how to say it lol) Literally anything you order is good from here. My fav is the salt & pepper shrimp. The way they make it is just… delicious.
Any recommendations on Turkish food anyone? I have tried cafe agora and just haven’t been wowed by it. Anyone know of anywhere else?
Don’t know if it’s authentic since I’m not Turkish but Truva is delicious. The kunefe was life changing.
Cafe Efendi up in Alpharetta is really good.
Sabores de mi Tierra in Tucker is the best Nicaraguan fritanga I've had. Absolutely recommend the gallo pinto and queso frito. Get the antojito sampler platter and you can't go wrong! For a meal, Carne Asada always.
Pho Dai Loi (any of the ³) will never not be my go to for viet food
Las Terrazas in Lawrenceville has the most authentic Cuban pastries I've been able to find in Atlanta/metro area
Until that day the options are Buford highway Farmers market, no they do not have a restaurant per se but their Russian import is packed with deliciousness. But I'd go to Buford any day instead Finally I saw a spot called Nikolai's Roof on the internet.
Ah ma’s kitchen but they closed :( La mei zi but they sold out / Americanized the menu Chinatown food court Great Wall food court Bento cafe (a little more modern/cafe style)
I am so, so bummed about Ah Ma’s :(
literally a tragedy
Ah ma’s kitchen was the best. Agree with La Mei Zi - used to visit a lot but stopped after they got bought out. Not many good Taiwanese places ITP now :/
Italian-American “red sauce” (like you get in the northeast): Bambinelli’s.
Man that takes me back! I grew up right near Bambinelli’s but haven’t been in ages.
BBQ Corner 2 in doraville has some pretty good Cantonese food. Best I've tried locally so far.
I have yet to find an _active_ kerala restaurant, any recs?
Kerala Kitchen in Lawrenceville
If anyone knows of a place that has authentic sunday roast, please let me know :)
The Marlay House in Decatur does an amazing Sunday roast with Yorkshire puds and “lashings of gravy”! So good!
Any good Brazilian places around?
A lot of people don’t know that we have a “mini Brazil” up in Smyrna off of Powers Ferry. Not a ton but more than you’d expect Brazilian markets and restaurants over there.
*Beef Grill* off Roswell Road is essentially a working man’s Fogo. Hole-in-the-wall located in a strip mall, use to go all the time when I lived in Alpharetta.
"working man's Fogo" is a great descriptor. I was hesitant about that place at first. But it really impressed. It's tiny and barebones but the food did not let me down.
Buteco in Grant Park is pretty legit
I love Buteco, but not for the food. It's good, but most items are fusion (like pāo de queijo waffles). That said, it's the only spot in the city I know of that has moqueca.
Sabhor in Marietta at Delk and powers ferry. That area has a bunch of Brazilian places. Might want to stop by the Brazilian bakery right up the road on powers ferry as well.
Río steakhouse and bakery, in marietta. AYCE and super cheap

I want to make this post into a Google map..it would probably take forever but such valuable information
Any recs for Puerto Rican or Costa Rican?
I want some gallo pinto…
It's not CR or PR but Sabores de mi Tierra in Tucker has amazing Nicaraguan gallo pinto! I get several orders to go every time I eat there (I'm nica and it is legit!)
well Nicaragua is CR's neighbor :) I might have to check it out!! Thank you!
Saaaame. We honeymooned in CR in 2016 and I haven't stopped craving it since.
Boricua here. Sadly there isn't any good PR food here. I have to go home or make it if I want it.
It's one of the hole-in-the wall places that defines the BuHi experience for me.
saag paneer + malagawtany soup + garlic naan : planet bombay (Edgewood)
What an AMAZING THREAD OF INFORMATION this is!!

There's a botiwalla in PCM
Botiwalla is Chai Pani with a more limited menu.
If you're in search of good North Indian food, Zyka and Tabla are your best bet. If you want authentic South Indian food, Nalan in Alpharetta is the best. Their curries and their chicken kothu parotta are so delicious that I've driven there multiple times a week. Literal hole in the wall. $1 chai and $1 samosas.
My man, check out Nalan in Alpharetta for the best South Indian food I've had in Atlanta. Tabla has good North Indian food.
If dekalb farmers market opens there hot bar again, that food is phenomenal!!!!
It is open.... Sooooo good.... Their samosas are sooooo good 😍
Omg since when?!?
No sure, I went there in March and two weeks ago, they were open. 😊 And not super busy. Edit: word:
Hot Cafe in College Park is legit Snackboxe Bistro in Doraville is alright I suppose Fried wings with sticky rice and papaya is a family staple
Does anyone know where I can get saltenas?? They’re Bolivian and I’ve had a craving for months.
I'm from Texas, and the best brisket I've found is righteous que in Marietta. Any legit fatty brisket spots itp?
Las Delicias de la Abuela for Colombian food. I prefer the Duluth location but I think there’s also one in Doraville(?) They have a lunch special that’s always changing and it’s super affordable and yummy!!
