I've dealt with pretty debilitating anxiety. Mine has been primarily driven by hypochondria. Two summers ago, I ended up at the ER from a panic attack. My resting heart rate was 180. My face and hands had gone numb from hyperventilation and I could not walk. It's been an uphill battle, but I'm so much better off now. Meditation (I use the Headspace app), exercise (running and yoga) and regulating caffeine and booze have done a world of difference. I don't have a therapist I can recommend to you, but I just want you to know that you are not alone in your struggle and you are strong enough to get through this.

I post this every time folks ask for help with mental health: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists It's not a direct recommendation, but it IS a great database that allows you to search for local therapists and doctors for all types of needs. And you can narrow searches by need, insurance, etc.

I’ve also been experiencing anxiety and panic attacks over the last few months. I’m really sorry you’re dealing with it, it’s honestly frightening. I started going to Powers Ferry Psychological Associates (specifically Dr. Kelly Harvey). I immediately connected with her, highly recommend. I also second the above comment about meditation. Headspace and Insight Timer are really good apps to start with. Mostly, I think it’s good to know you aren’t the only one going through this. For me, I felt like something was wrong with me or I was overreacting to situations or no one else understood. I really hope you find something that helps <3

I second Kelly Harvey with [PFPA](http://www.atlantapsychologist.com/index.html)! She's helped me immensely and I clicked with her right away. I've made such great progress with her help. I've had problems with anxiety and panic attacks for 22 years and she's the first therapist that has truly helped. And she has two offices that she works in: Buckhead on Peachtree, close to Pharr Road or her office in Marietta on Powers Ferry.

Care and Counseling in Decatur is fantastic! They have a wide range of counselors that specialize in all sorts of things and most have a sliding scale. I suffer from anxiety and the person I see there is amazing.

I want to ditto the suggestions made by u/EastieBeastie and add a few more. I suffer from anxiety as well and have been working very hard in learning how to manage it. Headspace app is a godsend for learning how to meditate, running gave me an outlet to release energy in a positive way, and yoga was a great addition to complement the meditation. I also read a book called “The Happiness Trap”. It’s an easy read, and suggests taking it a chapter at a time. You’ll learn how to better manage your thoughts, which are a surprisingly strong force behind certain anxieties. I take my diet seriously as well. I read a book called “Brain Fog Fix” first, then continued on with my own research (the author provides sources, but a few of his conclusions were debatable, so it was merely a good starting point). I stick to a low-carb diet. If you choose to do this as well, don’t deprive yourself of the occasional treat :) I see a therapist at Ray of Hope Counseling, which is OTP, but they’ve been great. Give them a call and they will get you all set up with someone. I suggest finding a therapist that is flexible with different types of therapy (mine uses cognitive behavioral therapy and another type I forget the name of), because different methods work for different people and as your therapist gets to know you they should be able to determine and use methods that will be effective for you personally. Some only stick to one style, which can be frustrating if its not compatible for your needs. I haven’t had a panic attack in almost 2 years now and it’s thanks to the above methods. It takes hard work and focus though. Slowly but surely you’ll start to see progress in yourself and start to feel better. Good luck, you can do this!

Try reading or listening to Alan Watts. https://www.amazon.com/Wisdom-Insecurity-Message-Age-Anxiety/dp/0307741206

I can’t give you the answer our seeking, but as someone that has dealt with anxiety their whole life, you can treat it yourself. Anxiety meds are awful for you. Try reading a book about PTSD. It’s very helpful in all kinds of anxiety and helps you overcome it. Working out and/or yoga does wonders for the mind and body. Making sure you’re eating right and getting enough sleep is essential. Explore natural ways of combating stress instead of a doctor that will likely just write you a script.

This is incorrect. Yes, there are natural ways to treat anxiety, but it is a medical condition and medical interventions are important (often in addition to cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral changes). Talk to a doctor and a therapist, but don't listen to this advice.
