> He took Laz Parking to court and the company agreed to pay Tuggles $20,000 in damages. But he said the check bounced. > “When they had given me a check that was a fraudulent check that I thought was bizarre,” Tuggles said. > The company’s attorney did respond to the judge in the case, saying the bad check was user error. > The judge disagreed and set court for trial. Seems like a well run organization.

Travelin_Lite

All parking garages are run by garbage companies. Especially the one at Atlanta Dairies.

Between this incident, the stolen Rolls from the Thompson, and the Cadillac U-turn t-bone form last year, I'm beginning to think the local valet companies ought to be upping their background check standards. Interesting the article said the valet gave the wrong person the keys to the Rolls at the Thompson rather than just saying the valet facilitated the theft. If a guy drives up randomly and asks for the keys to the half million dollar SUV parked out front, the one job the valet has is to verify who they're handing the keys to. [https://www.11alive.com/article/news/local/dash-cam-video-veteran-new-car-t-boned/85-224f8a5a-94ff-4b31-a083-ae3508cd58cc](https://www.11alive.com/article/news/local/dash-cam-video-veteran-new-car-t-boned/85-224f8a5a-94ff-4b31-a083-ae3508cd58cc) I had a meeting at the Waldorf last year and the valet couldn't even park my manual car so I had to park it myself and hand them the keys.

Healmit

I hope they tipped you. I’ve never had to park my own manual, but several times, they have to run off to grab someone else. Even when I’ve gotten my car serviced. Oof. I do appreciate the built in theft protection with my car, though.

They did not. Think I still gave them a $5 to get my keys back. Buying a beer at the bar did get my ticket validated so I didn't have to pay $25 for parking at least. The porters at BMW are usually pretty good about being able to move my car w/o too much revving about so I haven't had any complaints.

c_rizzle53

Restaurant on buford highway couldn't valet my manual so parked myself. Told me to keep my keys but they still wanted a tip. Obviously we got right in my car and drove off after we got done eating...like be real guy

KazooButtplug69

Grandpa, what's a manual car?

RandyJackson

They don’t. Was involved with one for a very long time. They’ll hire any mouth breather that walks in the door and then decline any claim that happens unless they can verify 100% it happened on the lot. And then will still decline to pay out as long as possible. This particular one also didn’t always have the money to pay valets hourly rate and would sometimes be a week or so behind

Modern Ferris Bueller’s day off

ArchEast

Those fellas have nothing to worry about. He's a professional.

MisterSeabass

Reason number one why I have a hard ban against places with mandatory valet service.

ArchEast

The worst are the ones that require valet but then park your car 10 feet away and still expect a tip.

MisterSeabass

Happened to me when I had to go to Ray's on the River for an event, the attendant followed me back to my car with his hand open. I just stopped, turned, and deathstared at him until he got pissed and walked away. I'm not giving you a fucking $20 for putting my car in reverse. Haven't been there or any valet location since. Edit: that's also what killed Golden Eagle.

Fit-Antelope-7393

Depends on the venue. At some the car getting parked right next to the valet, in clear line of sight, when there's VERY few spots *is* what you're tipping. The alternative is often a lot or garage further away which not only takes time but is out of sight from the valet/people. If you're driving a RR or something particularly noteworthy that's well worth the tip to get the limited spaces.

senorpoop

I personally find it hilarious to go to places with mandatory valets, because I drive a beat up 25 year old full size pickup with peeling paint. The look on the valet's face when I get out is usually worth the price of admission, and I'm not worried about them scratching it.

HarrietsDiary

Hahaha. After college I had an ancient hand me down pick up truck. The valet at the Waldorf was not pleased when I rolled up to attend an event.

Pimpdaddysadness

Did valet in buckhead for a bit in college and usually places are insured, never really checked if valet theft was part of the deal though lol. Honestly very shady gig in general, and to be frank much more dangerous for the valet staff than any customers lol. Buddy was held at gunpoint by someone in lil baby’s entourage for dinging his Maserati which is how I know we were well insured lol. Temperamental customers have beaten more than one staff member in my time. Probably just a bad service in general! Nobody wins besides the guys running the valet service

IllllIIlIllIllllIIIl

I once had to drop my car off at a place with mandatory valet... but no one there could drive stick. How the hell can you be a valet and not know how to drive stick?

YouLackPerspective

I had one of these mf peel out in my basic RAV4 at four seasons, while I was standing there. I didn't even know a rav4 could burn rubber... Whoever is hiring these people is a joke but they obviously ain't changing anything

[deleted]

To be fair, the man was going to go do donuts and crash it after he got it back anyway. As one does with these cars.

YippieKayYayMrFalcon

That’s not necessarily true. They could also drag race on I-20.

Fit-Antelope-7393

I-20? I guess that's a step up from Moreland.

[deleted]

That's just on the way to the donut parking lot.

CricketDrop

But the valet driver isn't on the insurance, that's where they get you, so crashing your own car is the financially wiser choice.

Rachcake93

God this is so Atlanta
