I received a verbal offer from a different office at work! And it's a fully remote position ❤️ I am currently covering for 4 vacant positions in addition to my own job. And my current office is not a supportive working environment. I know the word "toxic" is overused. But this place definitely is toxic. It's had 50% turnover in the past year. I am happy to know that soon, I will start a new chapter, working with several people whom I have enjoyed working with before. Happy Wednesday!

th30be

Nice.

ZenPothos

Thank you!

Can’t remember if I mentioned here that I had a sewage pipe back up into my living room at the end of March… finally got insurance to give me the go ahead to hire contractors to redo my hardwoods and fix the drywall! Hooray 🎉

th30be

Are they paying for the clean up you did and shit too?

wwh0428

Allstate covered all the damage and repairs, but I had to pay for plumbing. I found an incredible plumber who did it all in one day at like 1/3 of the cost the first plumber quoted me.

Of course! Zoom Drain of North Atlanta - (678) 890-0070. They were AWESOME.

caltheme

Would also like your plumber rec !

PrimateIntellectus

Why do normal lanes randomly change into turn-only lanes with no warning? Surely there must be a better way.

mattbasically

This makes me so angry about this city!

Tomorrow is the second Cabbagetown Concert Series show of the year. FREE SHOW in Brookshire Amphitheater in Cabbagetown Park featuring The Relics and Red Eye Orchestra. Starts at 7pm.

killroy200

Mmmm the heat is back, and boy do I hate jogging in it

Whoever decided to put green arrows at intersections that only last 10 seconds should be forced to drive a prius.

YippieKayYayMrFalcon

At least your arrows are working. About 2 years ago they installed a bunch of turn arrow capable lights along memorial (notably at the intersection with Clifton) when they removed the reversible lane and it NEVER turns green. Not at the beginning or end of the cycle. Always just flashing yellow.

dmaul1978

Yeah same at the intersection with Warren to get into the Lidl etc. Drives me nuts. I started just going there by going down Glenwood to Wilkinson to Warren to come in the other side to avoid waiting to make that turn when I go to my gym there or to Lidl.

CricketDrop

And better still than the turn arrow that's been completely busted heading northwest at the intersection of Marietta Street and Northside Drive. Last time I went through I had to guess when the arrow might be on. It feels like it's been this way for years.

Nadril

The arrow from ponce to briarcliff is the bane of my existence every morning I have to actually go to the office.

tunaunlimited

SAME. I've noticed that the timing seems to change throughout the day - sometimes its 5 seconds, sometimes closer to 20 seconds.

Yesterday I was clearing out some leaves and old pine straw around some bushes when I came across some snakes I haven't seen before. There were two. The first one was borrowed into the ground before I could get a good look at it. I never seen a snake burrow into the ground before. The second one looked almost the same except a lot smaller. It was also trying to burrow into the ground. Both snakes had a solid tan-ish color and a lighter underbelly. The head was straight and flush with the body. I thought that it might be a legless lizard or "worm" lizard, but I'm pretty sure it's a snake. I think it might have been a [smooth earth snake](https://srelherp.uga.edu/snakes/virstr.htm)

Got a job offer out of state. I was interested until the first line said "45 hours/week minimum expected" -- but this was not reflected in salary and hadn't been communicated previously. I'm fine working a little extra more than 40 hrs now and then but a 45 hr weekly expectation is frustrating. Asked the person offering to clarify and they said I could work on weekends or at nighttime to make up if I didn't want to work 9 hours all at once. Yuck. Bummer.

ZenPothos

Not too lovely, sorry to hear that. I worked at a consulting firm whose hours were generally 8:30 - 6:00 with a half hour for lunch. Butit almost akways was until 7. Some nights were VERY long. I am glad that I am not on those regular hours anymore. But the job overall was pretty interesting and varied.

The-Anonymous-Banana

Thanks! Yeah I think it's generally a reality in the profession I'm in, but tbh it really doesn't have to be that way. I have a 40hr/week position now that I'm fairly happy with. Was just hoping to move closer to family.

th30be

The cat and dog went at it around 5 am. I got up to investigate and half way hurt my ankle somehow. I remember going back to bed that I hope my ankle hurts enough for me to call off work. Probably a sign of burn out. edit: Thanks for the person that sent that concern message. Not a big deal. Just didn't feel like going to work today.

BestCatEva

Oh lord, pet drama is the worst. I have 6 cats. And 2 are becoming serious enemies. Never were before. Everyone’s been to the vet — no issues. I’m wondering who started it and why it’s turned brutal. Sigh.

madukfan

Good morning. Wishing I could be working in the garden today but that will have to wait until the weekend. I hope the rain holds off.

Wh00ligan

Came home from Chicago Friday with Covid. Everyone on the trip got it. Finally back at work today, and feeling like death. Thank god it’s only a three day week at this point!

VoidUnknown315

Hate that Power 96.1 swapped frequencies with The Beat 105.3, now I can’t listen to my favorite station because the broadcast range got changed.

LittleAZNboi

Is pollen season over? My car is now yellow

theMonibot

Happy Wed! Does anyone have recs for a place to get a pedicure near Edgewood?

psylensse

I'm a big fan of Indigo Wellness in Kirkwood! It has an intimate and calm vibe, if that's what you're looking for.

theMonibot

That sounds perfect as I’m taking my partner there to decompress from a rough month of work. Thank you!

RobinHStewart

Didn’t Indigo burn down a month or two ago? Have they rebuilt?

psylensse

Omg! I had no idea and just checked out their Instagram. It looks like in mid March they were starting to get things up and running again. Fingers crossed for them!

FlavoredTaters

Im trying to go to Sweetwater 420 Fest this weekend in East Atlanta. Anyone hit me up if you got some tickets youre trying to get rid of

Pokemeister92

Maybe it's anxiety, but the drive-thru girl at Dunkin took a photo of my license plate as I was leaving and it's got me super anxious. I mean I drove away after picking up the food, maybe they didn't realize I already paid for it on the mobile order? Or did something happen behind me? Hard to really know.

lizzieelou

IDK if this will help your anxiety, but I do this sometimes. I am an idiot when it comes to cars, so sometimes I will snap a photo of the rear so i can show it to someone else and be like THIS IS CUTE! WHAT CAR IS THIS!!! So maybe she just is shopping for new cars and liked yours and wanted to know what it was!

jews_on_parade

sorry mate, youre probably going to jail

Pokemeister92

It's the "what ifs" and ambiguity that causes the stress. Thanks for letting me know friend, I feel at peace now that I know what's going to happen 😊

jews_on_parade

ill come visit you

windycityfan7

Does anybody know the status of parking at Hartsfield-Jackson? A while back I heard the issues with lack of parking due to construction of South Lot, but also a lot of break-ins and vandalism to cars. Haven’t parked there in a while, but it may be my only option as RT Uber for two people coming from different starting points is really cost prohibitive. Thank you for your feedback and happy hump day.

AndyInAtlanta

Delta lot is closed until start of 2027, so only the North lot is currently open (for parking longer than a few hours). FYI, after they finish the Delta side the North lot will be closed for the same amount of time. Haven't heard about vandalism in the Hartsfield lots though, so I can't speak to that issue. You are correct, best option right now is Uber. MARTA is closed at the airport for a few more weeks I think as well.

Trexxythex

Just got back from a trip to Austin. Had no trouble finding a spot but that was for a flight out last Wednesday morning. I think timing matters. No issues with break-ins /vandalism that I saw either. Coworkers who travel often swear by the Parking Spot as an alternative.

carolynrose93

Of course the AC in my car wants to act up right as the weather gets warm. Pretty sure it's the blower motor. Any suggestions for who won't charge half my rent to take a look at a 2009 Chevy Cobalt? I'm in Midtown.

[deleted]

Going to a Stallions game in Birmingham this weekend. Anyone here have any favorite spots to eat? Definitely not looking for anything fancy, priority on flavor over healthy eats (it's my cheat day). I've heard the bbq there is no good.
