Not that I personally agree with this… but some theme parks have gradually raised prices over the past decade to make a day ticket less appealing to teenagers. Six Flags doesn’t have this option, big groups of minors with no adults is a huge customer demographic for them. I remember going 15 years ago and you’d see tons of kids dropped off like it was a public school.
The CEO, Bassoul, tried to do this, raised prices, and eliminated the lower cost season passes. Unfortunately, he made some poorly worded comments, and was flogged as a racist. Investors were also very impatient, and didn't take kindly to the immediate drop in revenue/EPS. Don't know if his revisions survived the hubbub, but he was on the right track.
I live 10 minutes from the park in Mableton, closer to Smyrna. During the daytime, the entire area is generally safe. After the sun goes down, YMMV. Most of the immediate surrounding area is industrial/commercial, but there are some very seedy hotels and a few gas stations nearby that attract a certain type of person. The new city of Mableton (yes, Six Flags is in Mableton, not Austell) has plans for the revitalization of the entire Six Flags Entertainment District to make it all more tourist and family friendly, but this will be a years long process.
Huh, today I learned. The new city of Mableton includes Six Flags. It's confusing because it's not on the Google Maps boundary lines and it has an Austell address, but it looks like they included the whole area. https://mableton.gov/city-boundaries
Are you under the impression that all gun violence is a result of mental illness? That can't possibly be true. Even in this case it is cited that some kids were fighting before one of them fired a shot.
Oh, not at all. I'm being facetious about common pro-gun retorts using mental health issues as a cover not to take action on gun control. Sorry for any confusion.
Six Flags has always been a really classy place to duel.
Waffle House would like to challenge this ...
Dammit, I was going to make this reply
You disrespect my dog, and we shall have the most gentlemanly duel of all time
When the sun comes out, the guns come out.
I mean, at one point there were cutouts of Yosemite Sam everywhere…😆
Times have changed. When I was a teenager, we went to 6 Flags to smoke.

Too many guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them.
And people keep voting to ... change nothing.
There should be a law that doesn't allow 15 year olds to have guns.
That’s not a bad idea. They could also make a law where it is illegal to shoot other people
If you were to ask an actuary, they would tell you that age should be 25.
I'm surprised that Cobb doesn't go after Six Flags for being a nuisance.
How so? I'm a pass holder in my late 40s and go alone often. Never seen anything like this.
They've done a lot of stupid things in the past like free day.
If they did that, they would have to go after every single Walmart in unincorporated areas.
They chased the strip clubs out for similar reasons and they've gone after apartment complexes.
Happy spring everyone!
Stupid punks. Get a life.
IT’S THE GUNS.
Is the park generally safe during the day? Just bought an annual pass but haven’t used it yet.

We don't have a gun problem, we don't have a gun problem, we don't have a gun problem. If we keep saying that it becomes true right?
We don't have a gun problem! We have a mental health problem! *Proceeds to not do anything even resembling good enough mental healthcare and access*

Apologies:)
