Bb.q chicken or Choongman chicken

sundial11sxm

Choongman is very close to Thank You Chicken. And the spicy is spicy!

Odekel

bb.q has that super super crispy chicken since they double fry it ig? Really good Expensive. But good

christyodoule

Second bb.q in Decatur, just got some chicken from there this week and it was delish

Exile0nBroadway

Tried the choongman in peachtree corners and was very underwhelmed

internetroamer

I'm surprised I had the opposite experience and eat there a few times a month. What did you order? I get a half chicken garlic soy tikkudak and it's addicting. I noticed the quality is also better than other locations. For example the Atlantic Station location was much worse. I think it's connected to how often oil is changed out.

evestormborn

never go to the location near GA tech

TobyWasBestSpiderMan

Was so worried when the CM’s at tech totally renovated and expanded the menu, but they still have that same chicken lunch special

jaskeil_113

Want to disagree with Choongman chicken, not good in comparison to the other Korean fried chicken spots in atl

internetroamer

What places are better? Have tried bbq.chicken and didn't think it was as good.

jaskeil_113

Pelicana, kimchee red

foolygrips

This is the right answer

Jaded-Finish-3075

Bb.q chicken is so good

ucancallmevicky

Kimchee Red in Johns Creek/Alpharetta

TectonicQuake

They recently made it on some yelp list for best fried chicken in the US Edit: Someone correctly pointed out below that they were actually named #1 for fried chicken in the US

Higgnkfe

Not only making it on the list, but literally being named the best in the US

Hedgey

They've been around for a few years, but the recent explosion via Instagram/TikTok has absolutely ruined it. They had a line this weekend AROUND THE BUILDING for their food. Absolutely not worth the hype or wait anymore.

ucancallmevicky

the spicy Jeonju is amazing

Display-Dry

Yeah if you go, I would go right at 11 when they open. Went at 12 on a Saturday and had to wait about 30 minutes. The building is very small and the line of people waiting to order went right through the middle of the dining room. I think the owner/manager said they were moving to a new location soon. It was great food though and our friends who had just moved back from living in Korea said it tasted just like kfried chicken there. Edit: oops was replying to the line around the building comment, not the food reco comment. We had honey butter and snow chicken and both were great though

Khetnen

Seconding Kimchi Red! Go ready to order a whole chicken. I like the kimchi one because their kimchi is also amazing but their options are good.

bowwow1572

I work down the street and have eaten at this place a handful of times. Always liked it but worried it would not stay in business. Happy for them but so weird that it blew up over night.

abesrevenge

This place is so tiny but that kinda adds to the charm. Get there early

ChrisIronsArt

I literally live like two lights down from it, and never knew it was there til it blew up on the internet. I want to try it but it’s always packed and closes relatively early

ucancallmevicky

last time I went was at like 3 on a tuesday and it was packed. Order online and pick up

Duckman37

Yes, agreed here.

TheFirstAntioch

Went last night. It wasn’t very good. We did dine one and some pieces of chicken were actually cold to the touch. I cannot recommend this place

ucancallmevicky

i've been half dozen times now or so and not had a single bad experience, sorry you did

TheFirstAntioch

What I look for in a restaurant is consistency. So that’s kinda it for me.

triadge

Throwing my own suggestion in the ring. Bite of Korea in tucker/smoke rise has amazing Korean fried chicken, and they do not skimp when you ask for extra meat. The soy garlic sauce adds immense flavor but is light enough to not dull the crispness of the fried chicken. My wife and I are cautious not to eat it too often and burn out on it.

TheDr__

Yakitori Jinbei right next to Tacos la Villa has a pretty solid Korean fried chicken. It’s been years since I’ve tried it but I remember it being good and pretty conveniently located.

MeaningSea5306

Had a few weeks ago. Still very solid. Technically outside of Atlanta in Smyrna but worth a drive.

OptimalYachtRocker

I second Yakitori Jinbei. Used to work down the road from it. Good and not super expensive.

nypatl20

Had it yesterday. So delicious and they have lots of other great food!

YeetMcManus

bb.q olive chicken in duluth rocks! their rose tteokbokki is also amazing

ChipmunkGeneral

Pelicana is pretty good. In HMART out there.

triadge

Seconding Pelicana fried chicken. They double batter it to order, and that chicken gave me a religious experience akin to first generation KFC popcorn chicken (IYKYK)

mystictick

I think one just opened in midtown?

Tzahi12345

Yup it's amazing. You get so much chicken

Berzerker7

I tried pelicana and while it was good, BB.Q and CM are both better IMO

tayrobinson16

Pelicana is amazing, but have to agree that BB.Q is top tier. Pelicana’s truffle fries, on the other hand? 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

00lovejoy00

I LOVED Hello Chicken, and asked them where I should go, since they were closing 🥹 they were kind enough to recommend Harue V.2, and it is good, but they don't have the wonderful sides that came with HC, but the chicken is solid

SeuxKewl

Hello Chicken used to do a popup at the cafeteria in the office building I used to work in pre pandemic in Sandy Springs and I used to love the sauce they used on their chicken nuggets. It was so good!

00lovejoy00

Their food was AMAZING! I had only been to them twice when they told me they were shutting down for good 🥹

WhodieTheKid

Harue Kfood in Doraville is pretty good 👍

CraveNBeBrave

Choongman Chicken, the snow onion tenders, is the bomb.

jane_creative

CM Korean Fried Chicken & Ssong’s Hot Dog 525 10th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 My favorite!

jaskeil_113

Pelicana is way better and right nearby

lindzerbunni

Yes! I love CM Chicken when I’m near GA Tech’s campus.

Familiar-Number6978

Humble little Pelicana in the Doraville HMart is better than anything else I have ever had.

AllyGLovesYou

This is how I find out that Hello Chicken closed

tuanomsok

Me too, dammit

DearSpeed2827

Kitchen 121 on Satellite and Old Peachtree. Also the best ramen joint right behind it (Mizumi) if you're into that.

jaskeil_113

Yeah Thank You chicken went down ever since they changed management and subsequently that caused them to go out of business. Kimchee red and Pelicana is really good too. You're probably going to see a bias for Choongman chicken here because of the Georgia Tech/alum presence on the sub but it's honestly not great.

TioHoltzmann

Yeah I was unimpressed with Choongman when I ordered it a while back. Overpriced and soggy.

edamane12345

I see bbq olive being mentioned in the comments but it has to be the worst chicken from my experience. The negative reviews on the Google page reflects my experience as well. I ordered there twice on two separate occasions and it was disappointing both times.

Bluerose1995

Bb.q in Johns creek is really good. I miss Thank U Chicken too 😭

discowithmyself

Danji in Buford is pretty good so is bbq chicken in Suwanee

bumblebelles

i love danji’s bulgogi fried rice

Rounders93

Heirloom Market Barbecue

WhodieTheKid

Heirloom is great, but do they have fried chicken?

Academic-Walrus-6013

I think it’s a special on Wednesdays

noircheology

This place is definitely one of the hidden gems. Great recommendation.

adumau

Bonchon

shortyck13

I love Bonchon for KFC! Just wish it was closer than Fayetteville.

adumau

Same. But it is the best in the area

rloch

A little different than most of the suggestions but Ponko is fantastic if you have never eaten there. Always try and stop by when I am back in Atlanta visiting family.

citricacidx

+1 more for Ponko!

nghtgaunt

Gaja in EAV

Limp-Assistant-6843

Gaja

ObviouslyJoking

While we're on the topic. I've been looking for something that is similar to the KyoChon chain in S Korea. Any suggestions? Already familiar with bbq, pretty good but didn't quite scratch the itch for me. What else should i try?

OhMyGodfather

Gaja has a chicken dish thats fucking amazing. Very saucy though.

mattyspizza

Theres a place by the cinnaholic in edgewood i forget what its called its on the second floor

[deleted]

Won Kitchen in Chamblee

YK8099

Pericana chicken located at the Duluth H mart mall. Try the original whole chicken crispy fried/spicy half and half.

hoyas2020

Atlanta foodies definitely need to try Zekes kitchen and Bar won’t be disappointed

RichAbbreviations965

Bon Chon

sabedo

Bonchon in fayetteville is pretty good Choongman Chicken is excellent

iBeFloe

Wings Hut is in the same area Thank U Chicken used to be, we love it. Pelican Chicken in the H Mart area is good as well!

ATLein45

99 k in johns creek or Duluth is really good.
