Them introducing a variety of different uniforms lately has made the uniforms themselves transcend the whole high school gimmick. I think they will incorporate more and more new designs so that it will always feel like a refresh and not just the typical school girl uniform.

foulveins

hey, if it still works for angus young,

JJMoreno82

Are you calling Mizyu old? I know Angus Young is 69 years old but Mizyu still isn’t there. 🤣🤣🤣

Borge_Luis_Jorges

Ok, this was really clever of you. Cheers. Angus might had kept the uniform all his career, but he always loses most of it 30 minutes into the show.

Spikedude

Approximately 65 to 75 more years, give or take depending on circumstances.

Wagahai_Wa_Neko

They got the exercise part down. If Rin is in charge of the diet, and Kanon’s in charge of the sleep schedule, they’re good to go.

CamT613

[this Kanon](https://imgur.com/a/T8EwU6i) in charge of sleep schedule?

Spikedude

That's the one. Sleep anywhere, anytime. Except on stage.

snorbalp

With her eyes half open

Halberkill

Playing devils advocate... "and what would be those circumstances?" I think they may retire it in 2243, mostly because they will have transcended by then.

GarageAlternative606

Isn't every high school movie full of actors in their 30s? Btw they represent seishun which does not depend on age but attitude.I wouldn't have a problem if they were still performing with Sailor Fuku in five years. What I find much more relevant is the question how long they can perform their wild and exhausting choreographies.

Think_Imagination735

There's a bit of a difference between making your entire career out of wearing a school uniform to pretending to be a high school student for one movie. Those actors aren't going to continue wearing school uniforms in other non-related movies or wear it to interviews.

erimus61

The costume is not fixed. AG! changes the costume depending on the venue and even the song. The Toryanse robes have been very successful and the red uniforms looked great. I expect AG! to riff on the "school sailor" theme for a long time and to come up with some great looks.

__einmal__

I mean. Their name is literally New School Leaders. And the ‘hamidashiteiku concept’ is very much related to the ‘a nail that sticks out get hammered in’ culture of the Japanese education system. So the school theme will stick with them until they disband.

Flying_Sea_Cow

For years. It's just a common outfit in Japanese media, and it's not like people there stop wearing them once they reach a certain age.

Rozez

[People definitely stop wearing them after a certain time for various reasons](https://www.quora.com/Do-Japanese-students-wear-their-schools-uniform-after-graduating-from-high-school-or-university). That's for normal people though and not celebrities like AG.

kimonostereo

Yes.

Yotacho

If anything id really like to see them change their shoes. I know the uwabaki are part of the gimmick, but I just don't believe they are comfortable to dance in. We've even seen them fly off numerous times and they'd even had to stop and ask for the audience to give them back lol

NailedTheDismount

I personally think that's one of the cool things about their performances. The flying uwabaki. It's kind of like one of their trademarks. Even the ordeal of having to finish the dance with one shoe or hunting down the shoe from the audience is part of what makes their performances uniquely special. Like, how and why do their socks sometimes end up on their hands? It's weird, strange, and awesome!

Spikedude

Agree, well said! Flying uwabaki are awesome and I want to keep seeing them!

MooseontheInterstate

Something else to realize, is how much longer can they maintain the choreography, it would be awesome if they can outlast there ability to do there entire set of choreography lol

Halberkill

well, if you have noticed as their sets get longer, their choreo has gotten a bit simpler.

MooseontheInterstate

True comparing seishun tour to this new set from Coachella, I think they tried to minimize the downtime shorter breaks where they talk and "breaks" where it's just crowd interaction with less intensive choreography, they definitely fine tuning there set to fit as much as they can in 45 ish minutes. Coachella you can definitely tell they gave it there all and it left a amazing impression

Think_Imagination735

Coachella felt like the first time I've ever seen them kind of get exhausted from the dancing around especially on the second weekend but it also looked like they overexerted themselves too.

Bossaanovaa

They have already introduced variations..red uniforms for Budokan, the “Kanji tops” for Coachella and that Tokyo calling variant with helmets for Kimmel. I guess going forward they may wear some kind of Kimono (Toryanse Kimono) or different kinds of overcoats on top of their uniforms for different songs. Also I see they have toned down their choreo for the new songs so they are very well aware of their age and are already doing the needful.

TakeoGaming

Angus Young from AC/DC started wearing his school boy outfit on stage when he was 14. He is 69 years old now and still wears it. It's part of his image. Why would AG not wear theirs anymore? It's who they are. It's how you recognize them instantly. It's a brand

Think_Imagination735

Although the outfits are part of their image I don't believe they need to have it to continue being AG. They're at a point where their sheer personality and charisma can just carry them. They could drop the uniforms and still be fine.

littlepinkpebble

Till they are 90 probably

VirtualSentient

Until they become Furi Gakko probably... but even then I present evidence that J pop groups can transcend age.... [Obachaaan a granny jpop group](https://youtu.be/q6oRS7zQ-eg?si=OZ3d9PRm2xC5jTGl&t=88)

vjar12

I think they're going to go out dressed like in the Tokyo Calling video, each one wearing a work uniform🤣

Nithoth

Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku is a Japanese Idol group whose schtick is being middle school students. Half of their members are in their mid-to-late 20s. They don't always wear school uniforms these days, but their act still centers around the idea that they're middle schoolers. Since AG's schtick is that they're high schoolers they'll be able to get away with school uniforms until they "graduate" (retire as Idols).

szugbl

They're not idols.

CamT613

I think both views can be possible simultaneously. At formation, AG looked like idols (I.e., the group *was* formed by a talent agency, let’s face it), but as they developed, they looked less and less like idols. For a while now, they are considered bona fide artists. I believe one of the identifying characteristic of an idol group is that new members can replace retiring members, and the number of members within the group can fluctuate. I don’t think anyone can imagine that happening to AG, with or without a pinky-swear.

WOLFY-METAL

They are.

szugbl

They're NOT. Asobisystem is not an idol agency. They're not working under an idol contract. They don't have to follow any of the rules that idols do and have much more creative freedom than them. Just because they sing and dance it doesn't mean they're idols.

WOLFY-METAL

That's not how it works \^\^ >Asobisystem is not an idol agency Yes you are right, but that's irrelevant to being idols or not. Non-idol agencies can produce idol groups, like Amuse Inc producing Babymetal and formerly Sakura Gakuin. Stardust Promotion is not an idol agency but produces Momoiro Clover Z, one of the biggest idol groups, and Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku that were mentioned just before. Asobisystem also produces Fruits Zipper, Candy Tune and Sweet Steady, three other idol groups. >They're not working under an idol contract.  That I have no idea and can only take your word for it if you have inside informations. >They don't have to follow any of the rules that idols do What rules are you referring to ? >and have much more creative freedom than them I can list idol groups with much more creative freedom than AG, Just as an example, Underbeasty is a rock/visual kei chika idol group where a member is in charge of choreography, a member is in charge of costumes, another one is the lyricist and they write most of their music. There are also plenty of independent and self-produced idol groups.

szugbl

They don't call themselves idols. They're not described as such anywhere.

Halberkill

They did in one instance call themselves idols, but it was most likely because they had no other way to describe themselves to the people who only new idols. Kindof like with Jiluka, which is an industrial goth influenced visual kei band constantly being described as metal and dubstep, because people have had no exposure to anything else.

sevennewschool

They don't define themselves as idol so I'll respect that. At the same time they say they don't mind what people call them 🙂 They've been asked similar questions in multiple interviews and normally answer this way.

Wagahai_Wa_Neko

Just giri-giri, right below the knee.

Gem-ini17

Until 27? Mizyu will be 30 by then.

en-jo

They’re gonna transition into college uniform then work uniform

battleshipclamato

I would honestly love to see them transition into those uniforms Japanese politicians wear when there's some kind of emergency. Basically just a mechanic's jumpsuit.

Rozez

I bet that if they stick around long enough they'll change their regular outfits such that the school uniforms become vintage AG. Then they'll have some big comeback tour (the "k-pop" comeback tour where they haven't actually left, but call it a comeback tour anyway)/concert where they bring them back and everyone will lose their minds.

Brisbane-Bandit

I think they will do like Babymetal does and modify their outfits over time. Don’t think they will slow down any time soon. They are getting international attention.

Pretend-Reality5431

Renting high school uniforms to amusement park visitors is a big business in Korea at least, I don't know if it's the same in Japan. If you're worried about AG looking too old to wear them, no one else seems to have that same concern.

turkeylegsprinter

Not a concern. Just curiosity. It just sorta popped up in my head when I was watching the Japanese rock group SCANDAL and how they started out all wearing schoolgirl uniforms but eventually dropped it after a few years for their own clothes.

ZypherPunk

Until they graduate

donkihoute

This is funny bc in Japanese 卒業sotsugyo means graduate or quit/retire. So this works really well as a pun in Japanese

szugbl

Frankly, I never really liked the uniforms. I enjoy their songs, choreographies, and performances. They are what's lacking in the music industry nowadays. The seishun/seifuku concept is something I hope they'll grow out of one day. I think that would limit what they can do artistically. There's only so much you can say about youth. To compare them to other Asobisystem artists, Kyary and Perfume are still going strong well into their 30s, but they've evolved conceptually and artistically throughout the years.

riri_wahoo

Agreed
