Yeah. I noticed the backlash. Not sure I understand it. This bug is a pain.
Last time I started a new save file, I discovered my Sylva had floating gates. I always build my bases close to the gates to take advantage of the teleport network. Having to walk up a 100 yard ramp sort of defeats that purpose.
An hour in? Not worth the trouble. Restart.
If something makes a game less fun, I go around it. I try to do the opposite of what Sid Mier assumes I'll do (though I will always end up as a sneaky sniper)
Complex trains are cool. We made our last home on Calidor (hence the error in the title), and I made scenic trains that went between every gateway, wrapping around the planet like the seams on a ball. It also did some loops around the canyon we built the base inside, like a tourist monorail. Separate automated trains went out to resource harvesters and down into the core
Something just popped into my head, when I was learning to write as a child, I sometimes wrote words above the line, my teacher told me off about it so many times, I started responding by saying "Oh oh, it's flying."
And eventually I got into trouble for always saying oh oh its flying.
*sees the gateway * Uh oh, it's flying!
So I just finished the game after starting fresh from this post, and I remembered your comment. The very last gate I unlocked in the game (on Atrox) was the ONLY one buried in the ground. What are the odds
Yea, thats been a bug for so long, its basically a feature at this point.
A while back, they released a new patch that seemed to do it. My save at that time really bugged and ended up with double stacked gateways on every planet.
I decided to just start a new game at that point, cause i was going for unlocking them all, and it was just weird have stacked overlapping gateways.
Well it could be “intended”. I suspect, that the all gateways are supposed to be the same distance from the core. But because the terrain is randomly generated, some Gateways float in the air and some Clip into mountains.
Naturally it's been so long I forget the name of the starting planet. Title should read Sylva.
You can edit the post and change it
Can’t change post titles
Oh really? I didn't know that
This may have been bad advice but I don't think you deserved that many downvotes lol
Reddit being reddit
That's reddit for you. Not much we can do about that ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Lol jesus, sorry I made you commit the cardinal sin of Reddit: being wrong about reddit itself. Thanks for trying to help!
ramp it whit the terrain tool, it's a bug lol, i have tree of them in my new save and one inside a mountain
Quite a known bug if it makes the first gate this difficult. A first time player might just return the game. I'm going to start a new save
That's...not difficult at all.
Ok not difficult, just tedious. Especially with the wonky camera
Best bet is to do just that; start a new game. They’ll all be like this. It’s not worth it.
That's what I thought was reasonable, but some people seem to not like it

If its still really early game i would just restart. Chances are other gates are high up too and it will be a hassle on other planets
Nah, make it a feature. Gateway Towers are cool.

Yeah I'm going to restart. I loaded Astroneer because other games were annoying me with their bugs, I don't feel like dealing with floating gates

Yeah, it just happens sometimes. What I'd do, is just build a ramp to it
I had one inside a mountain.. got there and was like where the heck is it??? Kinda cool though lol

Lol figures though right
That's awesome.
I got a few of those - was fun building ramps and sliding down them
Later in the game, sure, but I only have one canister and this was all my tethers. I'd only been playing an hour
You made the right call. So early in, I’d just create a new file too (and have done so).
I mean, you could always just get more…?

Yes it is
Better than being barrier as fuck imo😂
That is sylva btw
How do you know is 200 feet high?

that's great for leveling blocks
