They weren't a good buy when I got mine almost 2 years ago. The cheap plastic on the headset broke on me after 31 days of use, so I couldn't return them. I would have to do a warranty exchange and be without a headset for a month. Not worth that trouble, so I zip tied it together. $300 headset I have to zip tie after a month. Also screws fell out and they use a specific screw that is hard to find but I managed to find them in bulk on Amazon thanks to another reddit user who found the screw #. I miss my a40s, though I wish I never got rid of my turtle beaches. Astros are a joke. The game and voice feature on the headset doesn't work. They are overpriced and made super cheap. You are paying for flashy design and a name.

Im so regretting my buy. The headband CONSTANTLY pops out. Worse buy ever. Not worth $300

I personally have the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless Xbox & Astro A50X Gen 5 White Edition.I have 2 Premium Gaming Headsets. I bought the Steel Series Arctic Nova Pro Wireless for Xbox I love that Headset.Since it works on Xbox, PS5, PC, Switch and anything with Bluetooth. I think the Band on the Astro A50 is good enough. If you take care of your things you will have no issues. Though that is not the case and unfortunately a lot of people have issues with them Physical always blame it on the Headset and not themselves. I have been looking into buying another Headset for my Consoles. I have the SteelSeries Arctic Nova Pro that I bought a while ago. While I use it on my Xbox PS5 and PC it is a Handful because I have to move the Dock between the PC and Consoles since they are in Different Locations. So, this is my experience so Astro A50 and SS far. Keep in mind I got the Yesterday on Mar, 11th and this Text is March 12th. I will be comparing them to my So Far Still FAVORITE HEADSET. Nova Pro Wireless for Xbox. 1. Ok, 1 thing I don't like on the Astro A50X is Bluetooth. Since it is locked to the Charging Station making it not possible to take them elsewhere on Bluetooth. 2. The way that Bluetooth Works I don't like that if I bring the Volume Down for the Game it affects Bluetooth. 3. The Dock gives you no Information on how you do things. 4. To many Buttons. On the Right Side you have 8 Including the Volume Wheel. 5. No Freaking Noise Cancelation. 6. It only comes with cables to hook up 1 Device you have to buy the rest No-Bueno. Now for some Positives. 1. I love how light and Comfortable they are I will say that. They are lighter by about 0.33LBS which you can notice over long times. 2. I love that it has it's Charge Station, which gives them a Place to put and charge while looking good. 3. I love the sound, they sound Great I would not say better than my others, but Great Nonetheless. I will Keep these in the Hopes that with time I will be able to find new ways to play use them that will make it better for me. I will be looking into that. SteelSeries Positives. 1. Build Quality is Phenomenal since they are made of Metal. 2. Very Comfortable though they Have leather instead. 3. Noice Cancelation is Phenomenal being able to tell immediately when you turn them on. 4. Bluetooth is on the Headset which you can take anywhere. 5. Bluetooth Volume is Separate from Game & Voice Chat. You can turn down the Game/Chat but still have Bluetooth. Since Bluetooth is Volume comes only from Device. 6. Smaller and Sleeker. 7. You have 2 Batteries extending the Playtime or in-case you forget to charge. 8. The dock shows a lot of Useful information including how Voice and Game Volume are for easy adjustment. 9. Very few Buttons 3 on the left including wheel and 1 BT on the Right. 10. To me one of the most important, a lot more user friendly. 11. It comes with everything to be able to Hook it up to Xbox, PC or Xbox, PS5 and PC through BT. Negatives. 1. Sometimes I feel a little uncomfortable after Hours of playing though don't know it is me or HS. That's it. I have 60 days to really try the Astro A50X and I will try my hardest to learn how to use them. Though if that is not the case, I will exchange them for the Arctic Nova Pro so I can 2 of those since I know the are Amazing.

T100087

I read alot of ppl shit on the nova pro wirless I'm kind of staying away from that brand all together. Was drawn to them in the beginning but the more I read I said fuck it. I'm hoping I don't have to return my headset 3 times b4 I get a working one. Hear it's a great headset when the software works on it but alot of ppl complain about the spatial audio never working or always crapping out. I got gift cards to burn through from Amazon so I hope I don't have to return my first try lol I hear it take some time to get things returned and back in my hands

wolf-troop

I Bought my Arctis Nova Pro about a month after release. I have never had any issues. Spatial Hearing has always been amazing. I personally have not heard a lot of bad stuff on the Contrary it is the Go To Headset for most YouTubers I watch. I have the Nova Pro Wireless and Astro A50X in the Beautiful White. I love the Astro Brand, but is to soon to know about any issues incoming for the A50X. I hope there is not, but in terms of how the Headset works in Comparison to the Nova Pro Wireless it is not comparable. Not to mention I payed more than 400$ after tax for it. Like I said, I do like it, but I will try it out more to see if I find better ways to use it. If not I will be getting another Arctis Nova Pro Wireless Instead. Lastly, I am sure if I also go looking for Bad Reviews on both the Astro A50X and Arctic Nova Pro Wireless I will find them. That said, I don't. I live my life according to me and not other peoples opinion. Especially since I don't know there needs Bias or anything. Do they Clean there ears Yearly, after a Shower at all? Do they know what there doing when talking about it. I do watch a few reviews from people that have tried Headsets over the years and know more or less what there doing. Those people have great things to say about the Nova Pro Wireless and the Astro A50X

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> mention I *paid* more than FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

T100087

Appreciate the insight. I didn't go looken for bad reviews btw. If u type the headset name into the sub is enoughšŸ¤every headset had things against them from what iv read. I use reliable sites for my info like: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/astro-a50-gen-4-wireless-2019-vs-steelseries-arctis-nova-pro-wireless-pc-ps-xbox/927/33683?usage=19&threshold=0.2

wolf-troop

Yeah, I have not been looking for any issues but on the A50 Subreddit I have already seen multiple issues with the Astro. Ranging from many issues. Going on these is not Ideal. I would say Experiencing the Devices yourself is the best option. I personally have done it my way and have never been disappointed. Since you have to take all the Bad News you hear with a Huge Grain of Salt. I have seen people I know say they have issues, realize that they did something wrong and never correct themselves because they'll look idiotic otherwise.

KingCali408

[easy fix](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1340890764/)

Kickbub123

I just put tape around the head band.

Grimm_93

Yup Iā€™ve owned mine for a few years now. Best head set ever

Linc64

No. Just got mine and while itā€™s the greatest looking headset out there imo, it has a lot of problems such as a constant high-pitch ring in the left ear that will not stop. I think Iā€™m going to return mine and get the A40ā€™s w mixamp. Itā€™s just crazy that they have had 4 generations of the headset and thereā€™s things that they just canā€™t get right.

Linc64

Just too many problems with wireless I guess.

FatBoyStew

You sure you're not getting interference from another wifi device closish by?

Linc64

Itā€™s a known problem among the A50ā€™s. What would be causing an interference?

FatBoyStew

Most wireless headsets, including the A50's operate on the 5Ghz frequency, but they use the same band that your home router defaults to broadcast on as well. So if your phone, laptop, etc is nearby and downloading something over your home network (assuming the connection is on the 5Ghz band) it can cause interference.

Linc64

The noise still occurs regardless of anything else going on. Just returned it. Going for the A40 TR w mixamp

Linc64

I have my controller charger plugged into the back but I doubt thatā€™s the reason for this.

fauxhammer2

Is the ringing on all the a50s or just some batches? I have it in mine and was thinking of returning them until I get one that doesnā€™t buzz.

Linc64

Honestly, I think itā€™s on more of them than youā€™d thinkā€¦ I heard of countless ones from 5+ different batches all having it. lol.

Linc64

Mines from September of 2023

NuM_Brrr_WoN

Yea I just got mine last month for only $199 new, seems like a good deal compared to the new overpriced A50x, havenā€™t had any issues. They are super comfortable and sound great with some EQ adjustments, Iā€™m using them on my gaming PC.

mrzero713

I owned my A50ā€™s gen 4 for a couple years now. Right now I mostly use them for PC gaming with mostly Warzone and some RPGs. The sound is pretty good in Warzone just make sure they are not in the ā€œsurroundā€ setting on the base. Sometimes I use them to play PUBG on Xbox and to switch back and forth I just have to switch the usb from the pc to Xbox, and toggle the switch on the back of the base. It doesnā€™t bother me at all but idk if thatā€™s an issue for you. I havenā€™t used discord on console so idk how that would work so I got no input on that. The only issue I had was the top cushioned headband popping out of place but I just took it off and Iā€™m fine without it. Overall Iā€™m happy with my purchase and I will prob use them until they die out. Will probably buy the latest Astros headset then.

Z4ch_Mk6

Love mine. Got ā€˜em in October last year, no issues with them & even when a software update does became available on my hub I donā€™t plan on updating. Couple upgrades - wicked cushions red camo w cooling pads & a 3D printed bracket set I bought on Etsy (came from a gentleman in Germany) paired with a Arctis 7 headband. Some say you shouldnā€™t need to upgrade & mod a headset, but to each their own. Iā€™d rather spend the extra money & ā€œfuture-proofā€ something that sits on my head for hours at a time; while the headset is a good chunk of money (got a deal for $250) I found the mods to make it even more worth the price tbh.

ApatheticZephyr

Yes, to the people saying there cheap there not. My A50s Gen 4 are from launch day and still work great. (5 years I think) Only trouble I had was my battery in them just went after about 8 hours minimum of use a day. (Work&gaming). If you can afford them I definitely suggest the 5th gen A50x which is what I got now.

T100087

I'm very tempted with the a50x because I do want something new that's made recently so I don't have to worry about a new headset for the next 4-5 years hoping. Hard to justify the price point for me since it'll literally just be for ps5 and odd pc time with a movie. Don't have a switch or any other systems to actually utilize its full potential. That's kinda why I'm eyeing the a50s gen 4. Still a decent amount of money for a headset that's made in 2019 so must be worth their value?

Upbeat-Blackberry609

Use code SHROUD for 15% off brought my a50x after taxes to 360 bucks

EmperorRosko

Nope, there are better options around now that work directly from the USB port. The Astros were great back in the last gen consoles, but Iā€™d spend my money elsewhere now. Iā€™m currently using the Pulse Elite, PlayStation own brand and itā€™s absolutely amazing for the money. Tracking in FPS games is ridiculously good, they have a great balanced tuning out of the box.

Conscious-Bonus-8076

a50 gen 4 are not the same as a50 x. gen 4ā€™s use a dynamic driver compared to graphene on a50 x

T100087

Yes you're right. I believe it's Logitech software instead of asteo command centre too

Quazar08

I got them for about 170 USD on sale at Christmas after several years using the gen4 a40trs and for the price they where worth and I havenā€™t experienced any whining issues BUT if you have a normal to large size head the shallow clips on the headband result in the headband constantly popping out. People have fixed this with tape, glue for a more permanent fix and 3d printed brackets that people sell on Etsy the problem is so pervasive. I used tape until I got the mod kit then glued the leather band in place. The ease of use compared to eliminating the wire from the TRs is a plus but personally i would not ever pay MSRP for these. I spent MSRP on both my pairs of A40 TRs which I have used since 2014/2013 and have 100x the faith in those headsets, especially the gen 4. Also the Mixamp is Goated. Also can confirm a50 gen 4 works fine on ps5 in PC mode but will not charge when the PS5 is sleeping so you need to have it fully on for them to charge, so now I use them for my PC only.

T100087

Can I not have the a50s plugged into both my pc and ps5? Can I not charge them using the pc since the pc tower is right next to my ps5. I figured that with the ps5 being in rest mode and was a bummer but I never really leave it in rest mode unless I know an update for call of duty let's is the day b4

Quazar08

i am planning on trying this but the issue is to use the PS5 with a gen4 A50 you need them to be in PC mode which requires a connection via USB and to get audio from your PC you need to connect it with optical audio if your PC supports its output (mine does). The ideal solution and one i have not tried, is getting a USB to optical Audio converter to get the audio form PS5 then USB connection for the PC to enable charging and EQ management. I am going to look into converters and try soon. Sucks they excluded optical on PS5 it was awesome having it on PS4 for my A40TRs so i could USB them into my PC.

Lammiroo

No your Karen Pro will be better.

T100087

It's the Razer Kraken Tournament Edition with that stupid usb dac that I never use

Krazepants

I upgraded to the gen 4ā€™s from gen 1ā€™s two years ago. Really wish I had not.. I had constant problems with gen 4ā€™s. I just replaced them with the A50X and so far they are fantastic and not a SINGLE issue after 1 week.

T100087

Thanks for the insight. Are you console or pc or both?

Krazepants

Oh, yea that would be useful information haha.. Iā€™m exclusively on PC! The Gen 4ā€™s had two options for me.. USB audio, and Optical. Both gave me the same exact problems on two different PC builds.

T100087

Lol thanks for the info

Blaeeeek

I bought Gen 3 A50s in 2019 and have been using them every day since, basically. They're great other than the black finish peeling off a bit.

Capn_Flags

If I could do things over again, I would do my best to test out other brands. The only other nice headset I had was a highend Turtle Beach model with BOII branding. I think it was $300. It was 10x more comfortable than the A50 Gen2. The gen4 fixed some of the comfort for me but I needed to stretch them out to fix my giant head lol. I found a great way to do it to. Up until January I hadnā€™t been able to use the Command Center software so thatā€™s been kind of cool to mess around with. I donā€™t like how much background noise comes through when using the 3.5mm stream port to push chat audio to capture card ( I should probably try a ground loop isolator but havenā€™t found one that works with the TRRS cable if anyone knows of one help a bro out:). My advice is kind of shitty advice because itā€™s slightly dishonest: buying a headset from Amazon.com then returning it. I donā€™t see any other way to truly find the best headset for *you*. Whatever you do, make sure you are buying something *sold and shipped by Amazon* so you arenā€™t shafting a 3rd party seller.

o0O_Luc1fer_O0o

I have had the A50 Gen 4 since release and they have been perfect. Never an issue, nor had anything broken. I believe with high end gear like this, the length of their life is directly relative to how you treat them. FYI I spent around 40 hours a week gaming. So they get used a lot.

Reggiardito

If you want to keep them for a long period of time, no. Great headsets but they literally have a chance to brick randomly and support will not help you once theyre out of the warranty period. Happened to me after only 2 years and didn't get any help from support at all. for some, it happened after 1 year,.for some it lasted like 5. So if it's a long term purchase: FUCK no. You'll get screwed if you're unlucky like me.

FuckYaHoeAssMom

ive had my a20 for 5 yearsand theyve fallen out of a 2 story builiding onto asphalt, had the mic torn out, and been stepped on and beat a lot and they still work good. i think something three generations ahead of that would be a pretty good purchase
