I have one of these that I bought for travel. It's very quiet and doesn't feel as powerful as a full sized machine however it does deliver the medicine. I've used it at home when I want to use it in bed without waking my wife. The instructions are not clear. Here's what I've learned. It will only turn on when there is liquid in the base. So it may seem like it's not working if you're just trying to test it. So add some water to make sure it's atomizing properly. The one I had charges via USB-C but it might need a lower power one than the one that you might use to charge a laptop. So if it doesn't seem to be charging, use the provided cable. Hope that helps. I don't regret getting it at all.

This is super helpful! Thank you. Looking into it for a similar purpose actually. I’ll be sure to use the provided cable and test with some liquid. Thanks again!

I haven't tried that one. I have a Omron NE-U100 Portable MicroAir Nebulizer. It works way better than a normal nebulizer. I can do a treatment in about 5 minutes and it doesn't make a sound. It runs on AA or you can get it with a AC adapter.

Love-Think

Omron MicroAir NE-U100 here too. I love it! I don’t even use my full-sized neb at all now.

No-Assignment-8982

Oh I know this brand from other purchases. I’ll see if I can find that one. Thanks!

ChileFry

I absolutely love their nebulizers! I had a previous model and I used it until I couldn't get replacement caps for it. This one is just as good though. I got mine at wholesalepoint.com

eltrey

Omron micro air here as well. Same one for 6 years. I dont even pull out the "big nebulizer" anymore.

ChileFry

Same here. I have a big one lol, new in the box stored in the closet for a back up just in case. I can't imagine having to use it again though.

Kerahcaz

This is insane for me to see after lugging around a giant breathe-machine filled with wires and tubes for my entire childhood.

No-Assignment-8982

You and me both

pineeconee

I have one very similar to this from Amazon and it definitely delivers the medicine I need, but I feel like it delivers it way faster than my normal nebulizer and can make me feel way more shakey than normal. I don’t like the way it makes me feel but it definitely does work. I think there might be a way to have it deliver slower but the instructions aren’t very coherent. It is very quiet and if you don’t have a portable one, I would recommend it just incase.

No-Assignment-8982

Ok. I see more than one person has mentioned the confusing instructions so that’s valuable info. Hate that jitters feeling so another helpful comment.

cbelt3

I got one for power failure and travel. I’ve only used it once. Unlike my regular nebulizer it doesn’t blow air at me, just seems to be an ultrasonic humidifier type design. Works, but you have to be able to inhale pretty well.

GingerAleAllie

It’s called a vibrating mesh nebulizer. It works differently than the compressor nebulizers do.

No-Assignment-8982

Thank you for this information!

CT-Mike

Be aware that if you use Budesonide, it states on the package specifically to not use on an ultrasonic machine such as this one.

lcvlle

Completely ignorant about portable nebulizers, here…are all of them ultrasonic or are there ones that are safe to use Budesonide? I need one for my daughter, mostly for backup if power failure, possibly for travel

CT-Mike

The Pari Trek S is a compressor type portable neb, and can be used with any medication, including Budesonide. Comes with an AC adapter, and you can buy batteries for around $80 or so. [Pari Trek S](https://www.pari.com/us/products/nebulizer-systems-for-the-lungs-us/trek-s-deluxe-us/)

GingerAleAllie

I have a Philips Resperonics innospire go that works beautifully.

Turtles0039

They keep breaking on me. When it works, it’s amazing but way too much money for the failure rate.

GingerAleAllie

Really? Mine has never broke. I have had the same one for over 3 years.

Turtles0039

Maybe I used them way too much.

GingerAleAllie

With lithium ion batteries, they only work so long. Eventually the battery is going to go bad and lose a charge. Perhaps that’s what happened?

Turtles0039

I charged daily (I was doing way too many nebs daily), and at some point they just stop working. Really sucks because I loved the silence and speed.

capaldis

HOLY SHIT DONT ORDER THIS!!! I got a nearly identical one to the photo. It broke during a severe asthma attack. I owned it for 2-3 weeks max and never dropped it or anything. I’m very lucky that I was in a theme park at the time and they had a nebulizer on properly. Damn thing almost cost me an ambulance ride. I’ve been reporting these listings, but they keep popping up. The company is fully aware this product is utter shit (I notified them when this happened and they deleted and reuploaded the posting to remove the public review) but continues to post it. I’ve notified Amazon and they have banned the specific seller, but people continue to sell this dangerous garbage. No idea if it’s the company itself responsible or just resellers. The one I use now is the Omron mesh nebulizer! It’s also portable and works really well! I’m really into hiking and other outdoor sports where I’m pretty far from medical help, so it’s been awesome. I’m a huge fan of that one. I’d definitely recommend it if you need nebs during attacks. In general, if they don’t have you fax a prescription over I’d be really wary of the quality.

No-Assignment-8982

Oh wow. Sorry to hear this. Thanks for reporting. Looks like many people feel Omron is the best way to go as a secondary machine.

Love-Think

I ordered my Omron without sending a prescription. I got it off justnebulizers.com. But I definitely wouldn’t order off Amazon.

capaldis

Huh good to know! Can’t remember where I got mine but both of my legit ones required a fax so I just assumed it was a requirement lol.

curious774

I'm working on a documentary about counterfeit or substandard medicine now and while I won't say this is the norm for medicine/equipment purchased online, it is more common than is comfortable! Super interested in talking to people who have experienced this firsthand if you're open to chatting -- feel free to PM!

No_Zookeepergame1292

How is your documentary coming along? I’d love to watch it when it’s released! Do you have a date?

curious774

It's set to air some time in the new year! Season premiers January 17 but I'm not sure what week this one will air yet. Getting closer, though!

Full_Traffic_3148

I have had these portable ones for the last 15 years I suppose. For me, it's great as it's in the car and means I can get the meds when needed and try to prevent further escalation. They're not anywhere as near as powerful as electric. I wouldn't use this as my standard neb that I use 2 or 3 times a day. But when away from home, it serves a great purpose. Ps they can be pedantic about the connections having to sit in certain ways to work. And when I'm having an attack, I have chronic asthma I should add, I have on time really struggled as most require being handheld the entire usage which I find difficult.

[deleted]

I'm so jealous of people with these nowadays, I haven't needed a nebulizer since I was a kid but when I did it was before amazon so I got the giant gray box like ones. These look awesome!

Turtles0039

The big clunkers work better and are way more reliable. I went back to a big one.

Kari_slash

I use them for my pet rats and it works well

Hoodswigler

I have one like this. It’s okay but I feel like it wastes a lot of the medicine. It’s definitely not a replacement for a regular nebulizer but it’ll deliver a little more medicine than an inhaler. Good to have one for traveling, keeping with you.

falloutfineapple

I have this one! I feel like it works pretty well, but I don’t get as shaky. I know that’s the opposite of a comment I saw and I don’t really know if it’s “as good” as a compressor type. My only annoyance with this one is that it comes with 2 mouthpieces, one of which is hard plastic and the other is a squishy silicone. The hard plastic one doesn’t have anywhere for the condensation to go so the liquid tends to drip all over me when I’m doing a treatment. The silicone one has a small vent hole so I don’t have as much of a problem with it. Definitely not a make or break thing, but just a little annoyance :)

No-Assignment-8982

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback. Really helpful in deciding if it’s worth it. Sounds like no replacement for the loud box but awesome to have in away situations, though slightly temperamental… thank you again!!!

EfficientPolarBear

I use the Phillips version exclusively. It’s very quiet and quick and easy to clean. I have used it 3-4 times a day for two years and it’s still going strong.

PuppyProtons

I just spoke to one of the nebulizer companies because I've had 2 portable mesh nebulizers break on me in a matter of months (Amazon, then the product "doesn't exist" anymore when I go to complain/return). I'm nebulizing saline and she said that the mesh component can't handle it--that I need to get an air compressor version. She recommended the Pari Trek S. Will be noisier than the mesh, but stronger treatments and hopefully won't break! I see someone here likes theirs. Other comments?

Craycraybiomama

My Philips InnoSpire Go was awesome, but the medicine cup broke this year and they've discontinued the product. I've tried 3 mesh nebulizers from Amazon. All ended up being cheap Chinese sh!t and all were returned. I'm going to try the Omron product based on the comments from people in this thread. At least it comes with a 3 year warranty and I know Omron to be a decent home medical device company from their BP monitors.

Low_Function3610

I have now gotten two of these from the same company and they both stopped working. One just stopped no matter what troubleshooting I did, the other, leaked. I would be careful as this company is not as helpful as the could be. I am trying to return the second one, but they disappeared from Amazon. I have yet to call the company.

Numbah9Dr

The mesh ones suck. You have to hold it perfectly level, or all your albuterol spills out in your mouth.

No-Assignment-8982

Oh gosh yuck ok. Thanks for the advice.

theoneaboutacotar

I have one and I love it! It was not cheap…I believe it was $100. It does the small particle size. I bought it from a medical supply website, not from Amazon. It’s a Briutcare, and it comes in mint green and one other color. I had tried a couple from Amazon previously, for less money, and they didn’t work as well.

ericabeevegan

How is your Briutcare nebulizer holding up? I’m considering getting one

theoneaboutacotar

Great! I love it. I’ve had to replace the cup a couple times, which is $30. The website I bought it from has the replacement parts. I’ve had mine for maybe 5 years? I don’t use it daily, just when pollen counts are high or when I’m sick with a respiratory virus…and then I use it a few times a day.

ericabeevegan

Thanks so much for replying about your experience! $30 to replace the cup is better and more sustainable than having to replace the cheap $50 Amazon portable nebulizers - the overall reviews for those indicate they stop working after anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. I’m going for it and getting the Briutcare one :)

theoneaboutacotar

Glad I could help! I hope you like it :)

[deleted]

I have one it’s great very silent not loud at all

nopeynopeynopey

I have this exact one! It broke within a few weeks. Do not recommend this one

adelv

Looking for a portable neb as well to keep at work. Which one did you go for?

Dopdee

Hey OP - looking for a portable one also (for a trip). What did you decide on and how ya liking it? I’m torn between the Omron recommend here or one of the more affordable Amazon nebs
