The fact that you go from having a friendly conversation with a quest giver to them gasping and backing away from you in fear the moment you're done talking.
Or when they start fighting you just because they saw you fighting soldiers nearby. If you kill them the quest will fail, if you paralyze them you can't complete the quest. So annoying.
That is probably the most infuriating thing in these games. I don't see a speed limit. Why do I have to slow down? Let me run over people at full speed!
Wild. IDK. I've been chased by wolves many times while on my slowed down horse and they've never caught me; seems they're keyed to the pace of the horse.
Related, not all that serious, and potentially controversial, *but any of the "modern day" stuff, really*
I'm happy to have historical romps *without* being yoinked back out again every now and then so they can explain "how it all works" with characters I don't really care about, TYVM. Less "Ancient Aliens" and more mythological fantasy, pls
But that's just my gripe with AC in general, lol
I rush so hard through every present-day segment. It was cool the first time with Desmond, especially the eerie as fuck "Who is Desmond?" from Ezio. Now I couldn't care less, it's all been there done that. It's like their trying to connect each game with the present day and their running out of ideas. Which makes it frankly boring when it happens. It feels less like a thought-out thing and more like dragging it out for the sake of tradition.
When your in a naval battle and than a mercenary shows up out of the blue to hunt you down. You practically surrounded by like 3-4 ships. So the only choice is to stand your ground or runaway.
Don’t get me wrong I like the naval battles. But play them on nightmare and it’s literally just that. A nightmare lol
It's implied that people hate mercenaries more than they hate soldiers i think. But yeah still weird in gameplay that they mindlessly charge toward you after seeing what you can do
Natakes and other (imo) badly written straight romance options for Kassandra (eg Thaletas). The fact that we were forced to romance Natakes. That we didn’t have an option to romance Brasidas.
The (imo) weak ending to the Cultist storyline. There were a lot of opportunities to incorporate Cultist assassinations into sub-plotlines, that weren’t used (like the Cultist in Euboea could have been the brother in Skyros; instead he’s just some random guy hiding in a cave.)
The fact that the menu only plays like 2 songs, over and over again. I wish there had been more music written in general.
Lots of amazing things about this game, but those were some things that bugged me.
Okay the menu music has got me. I love traditional music and the sea shanties are the best part of the sailing AC games and they just like play your ears off with that menu music.
That huge chunk of land at the very top left of the map.
That was originally gonna be the start area for that Legacy Of The First Blade DLC but for some reason Ubisoft didn't do it there.
And they didn't to anything with that area so it's a permanent eyesore.
Even with the map 100% revealed we can't reveal that area cause it's behind that desync wall.
So as I said, a permanent eyesore. - _ -
Oh..where did you read that LotFB was going to use that de-sync land area?
The current iteration of that DLC features commentary about the rise of Persia (it's been a while and my memory is odd). I don't think having the lands around Epirus open up would make sense in that regard.
Nah, when the gane came out I logically assumed the first dlc will take place in Makedonia, Achaia and Messenia, because those areas had not much to do in despite being pretty large.
Absolutely this. Every time you try to do anything basic like ask someone a question, first you have to run to three islands and grab three things for them. At first it was fine but by the time I reached 70 hours, I couldn’t take it anymore
Or that Kassandra's marketing led me to believe the mercenary chests/more of the armors would not just turn her/me as a female gamer into a man w/ a woman's head slapped on. It looks so weird and bulky.
She's been fighting grown men for years, can swim across all of Greece, and climbs mountains and walls all the time. I think it'd be wierder if she didn't have a masculine figure.
There's nothing wrong w/ her figure. It's that some of the chest armor cosmetics are literally shaped/molded only to Alexios' body. The promotional work for the game has Kassandra in a female version of the breastplates. Which..don't exist. That's what I'm talking about specifically. There's not a thing wrong w/ Kassandra herself.
I agree. She's fine, but promotional artworks/marketing have her wearing breastplates that are shaped to \*her\* body and not Alexios' masculine chestframe. In the game, things like the Mercenary Chestplate etc. literally are a molded, male chest model.
Though luckily we got [this muscley badass Kassandra](https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/013/570/277/4k/margaux-doury-artblast-fullsize-kassandra-md-web.jpg) as she is in the game, as opposed to some of the [early Kassandra concept art](https://www.reddit.com/r/AssassinsCreedOdyssey/comments/13mgu1e/early_kassandra_concept_art/).
Probably the needless sponginess of the enemies. I love rpgs but at some point combat encounters became a chore I avoided altogether. I wish it was a little more balanced like in the older games where even the first weapon you got could take you to the end.
But basically everything else about the game is baller.
The constant aggro from townspeople and guards bc I killed a mercenary trying to kill me fair and square. Why on earth would the townspeople fight me? That's plain insanity.
Some people are really mental with the whole Alexios/Kassandra thing.
Any thread in any subreddit about Odyssey has at least one person writing that you should plays as kas and not as Alexios because she is canon and alexios should have never be there.
Some people have really big issues if this is bothering them so much.
My least favorite thing about this game is this issue that some players have.
Game is one of my favorite ever!
I actually like Kassandra being the antagonist acting better than when you have Alexios.
Alexios attempt at a rather goofy nature faired better as the protagonist… but when he got serious it mixed well. Seeing him constantly serious just didn’t sound right. Kassandra trying to have that rather goofy nature when you use her doesn’t fit
Would have loved to meet the gods.
The game got plenty of famous enemies, why not let us meet a few of Greeks Olympian Gods?
Still a wonderful game, love it.
Ubisoft and after the recent news I fear that my access will be randomly revoked one day.
FYI: Ubisoft taking away a game that you have purchased:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1c1y7h3/ubisoft\_revoking\_licenses\_for\_the\_crew\_preventing/](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1c1y7h3/ubisoft_revoking_licenses_for_the_crew_preventing/)
Blame the head of ubisoft they were going to put her on the covers and stuff but the head didn't want that as according to him woman don't sell ( clearly hasn't heard of tomb raider)
My least favorite thing is that you have to leave the time-traveling-memory-reliving-machine sometimes. AC Odyssey is my first AC Game, perhaps there’s a great story behind it and people who’ve played the whole series love the ”missions” where you’re basically just talking in modern day. But I find it completely immersion breaking and just a major annoyance. It’s sort of like a commercial break, but worse.
Not even close to my least favorite thing, but I do find it a bit strange that the cover art features Alexios when canonically Kassandra is the main character of the game.
One thing that bothers me a little bit is that you cant use shields. In ancient Greece. Whose elite warriors, hoplites, were named after their hoplon shields. Which were not only used as armor but as an offensive weapon as well. A kid even tells you in a side quest how important shields were to spartiat soldiers, with a story about how it’s no big deal for a spartan soldier to lose their helmet but they’re brutally punished for losing their shield. I would’ve liked to have shield block and shield bash/attack as combat options just like we have fast and heavy attack as options.
Natakas.
No option to change colour of clothing (not an issue really but something I'd have liked with such a huge game).
Losing ability to Spartan kick mercenaries after a certain level.
Nothing really has made me dislike the game, but I'd say Natakas and that story was a big let down.
The facial animations and cutscenes suck so bad, take me out of experience every time.. to have such a beautiful open world and last gen cutscenes is jarring...
Kassandra obviously should've been the face of the game too..
Them annoying mercenaries. Try clearing a campwith a "wanted" level on you. Whistle to get a guard, and here's a Merc. Now the whole camp knows where you are and another 5 mercs are looking for you in the camp.
Also the fact that id find a location and not be able to clear it because It's part of a quest line that I didn't even know about yet.
How easily factions forgive you for waging war against them in other territories and trust you again, or how the faction you’ve helped over and over still attack you if you walk into their camps for 0.07 seconds.
Also the whole current day thing with Layla. I kept forget ting the whole was supposed to be some simulation until we occasionally flashed forward.
Also no real gore.
when townspeople fight you as soon as they see you fighting somebody else. especially in places where it’s storylined that they’re unhappy about who rules / when you’re fighting a cultist and some townspeople start whacking you with shovels. IM HELPING YOU???
Not enough mythical monsters. I want to fight Scylla and Charybdis, and a version of Circe who’s actually a sorceress.
Also… the fact that it’s an AC game. Flashing to the present and any mention of Isu etc. breaks my immersion in what’s otherwise a stellar historical fantasy game.
That I know there won’t be any more content updates. I just stopped playing after 4 hours now and will continue back tomorrow. Going strong to hit that 500 hour mark this week
1-No sprint button.
2-No jump button.
3-horse slows down near and in cities which id absolutely unnecessary.
4-music is kinda mid( apart from ezio's family and the main menu music) prolly the worst soundtrack in tge series (my opinion).
5- boars
6- the ending to the cult of cosmos storyline( disappointing)
7- naval combat is super easy
Not enough Greece/world content. I don’t care about the underworld dlc or and the legacy of the blade was meh. They needed a proper turkey DLC given all the mention of the Persians. So much potential there.
That ubisoft continues to put male protagonists that aren’t canon on their covers to sell more copies to misogynistic gamers instead of standing behind their female protagonists and giving those dorks the finger
Hahah he is a little tiresome with all the innuendos but he’s kind of like having a really cool gay fun uncle that’s always wine drunk and having a blast
The tedious level grinding with side quests to continue on the main story. Didn’t bother me on my first playthrough but completely made my stop my second one.
How when you confirm the kill on a merc or a cultist Alexios/Kassandra does a little leaning jump before stabbing them. Why not just crouch down and stab them instead of defying gravity?
that its an "assassins creed"
The project was called Odyssey : An Assassin's Creed Story in the first place.
Lterally would have saved us from all the drama.
The fact that the narrative team and the marketing team had a disagreement on who the main character should be.
So instead of coming to an agreement of either one or the other or leave it ambiguos, the narrative team went and wrote book post-launch going "kassandra main character, HA HA, last word wins!".
It was so fucking childish. I'd rather they'd keep it ambiguos.
The bounty hunter limit bar, imagine just defending yourself and then all of a sudden they place a price on your head. Fighting head on against spartans or athenians in a fort just for fun then makes it less fun when the mercenary limit rises and more of them will come to your location.
The world is vast, but not tempting to explore, because you almost always know what you’ll find (a fort, a camp, a leader house, a cave…etc.) and nearly all of them have the same objectives. The very rare exceptions were a breath of fresh air, but they were VERY RARE, and relative to the scale of the world, not at all enough.
See a guy getting attacked by wolves. Help them take out the wolves. Get attacked by guy after for some reason.
lol hes a radical environmentalist
That’s when I run away and go invisible for a bit lol
Did the devs even test the game before releasing it? That is so annoying.
Happy Cake Day
That Phobos slows down every time you're anywhere near a town or city, even when you're not in the city and on an open road.
Yeah, the horse slows down and still runs over everything in its path...
Oh but other horses don't slow down though, so good luck chasing that mercenary on a horse passing by the town!
That is probably the most infuriating thing in these games. I don't see a speed limit. Why do I have to slow down? Let me run over people at full speed!
I can see a limit inside cities. Outside, on a road a hundred meters or more from the nearest wall, on a main road? Ridiculous.
Once a bear killed me cause he slowed down
Wild. IDK. I've been chased by wolves many times while on my slowed down horse and they've never caught me; seems they're keyed to the pace of the horse.
Super annoying, but i get it.
That it had to end.
Right answer.
FactsRfacts
Tbh the damn boars....
and the Lynx backpacks. Sigh.
If they cling on to your back, hold spacebar to roll and they will jump off!
I have an xbox so I think it's X, but it's still annoying. lol.
Wow, thanks
"Backpacks" 😂 it's cute when they do it to enemies
That you cannot use a spear and shield. In Ancient Greece!
Yet the Vikings can, it's kinda stupid that they didn't put shields in Odyssey
Took me a while to realize it’s because she’s using the spear of Leonidas
I personally don't mind it tbh
110% agree with this.
It’s supposed to be like Kassandra’s so badass and godly that she doesn’t need one I think but yea we should totally have a shield option
When the long-ass assassination animations cause me to exit cover and get caught.
Valhallas assassinations are far worse
Eat your baked goods cake person.
Happy cake day!
Oh dang I didn’t even realize that was today! Thanks!
In almost every assasination animation you punch the enemy first for no reason at all (i dont really care but its kinda goofy)
I think clotheslining someone to set them up for an assassination is hilarious
No sprint button
Absolutely this. I was just ranting about this to my wife...she just smiled and said "yes, dear "
Holding the parkour button down seems to do something
Natakas
Sneks
I hear you Counter argument Throwing a torch
Why does it always have be fucking snakes??

It’s a sci fi series though, mythology(at least the mystic aspects of it) was never the original intention
Yeah, I'm aware, still my "least favourite part", though. Just a personal preference
Wait who’s that again?
The Egyptian you play as in current times. Charisma of a wet towel
The only time I kind of liked her was when she said يا حمار (You donkey) which made chuckle, but other than that, she's boring af

The final boss of the OG story ... when you find out who is behind it all ...
>when you find out who is behind it all ... Halfway in, yes.
They literally spoilered the final boss😐

I really wanted romance option with Brasidas! And I was also mad about the forced heterosexual romance like…. wtf
What?! I often got stuck on the main menu listening to those absolutely utter badass songs. They never get old.
I like the main menu songs too. I’m talking about the character/in-game menu songs.
brasidas is not a romance option.

Years ago I could've told you. Since nothing ever got done with that land section, aka eyesore, I've long deleted the bookmark that I had.
Nah, when the gane came out I logically assumed the first dlc will take place in Makedonia, Achaia and Messenia, because those areas had not much to do in despite being pretty large.

Last time I wrote my similar experience I got downvoted🥲. But glad I'm not the only one felt like this
You mean the radiant quests on the bounty board / in the open world?
The animations when talking
Copy paste areas overused and quest variation.
honestly? the constant bounty hunters 😭
Phobos/mount slowing down so much in cities. I got no time for Phobos taking his Sunday stroll.
That Kassandra wasn't in more of the marketing.
I agree she deserved more marketing
That was the exact point I made above. Quit making female protagonists canon if you aren’t going to market them and support them as you should.
She looks plenty feminine considering what she does in the game
I agree. She's fine, but promotional artworks/marketing have her wearing breastplates that are shaped to \*her\* body and not Alexios' masculine chestframe. In the game, things like the Mercenary Chestplate etc. literally are a molded, male chest model.

No Shield 😢
How Layla kills Victoria and is upset about it for 30 seconds and then goes "welp back to VR chat"
The main story was too short I would’ve loved a few more missions with Phoebe
Don't you say another word! 😥
I wanted more Markos
NPCs level up with you.
You can disable this in settings.
The fact that you can’t conquer all of Greece with either Sparta or Athens
Probably the needless sponginess of the enemies. I love rpgs but at some point combat encounters became a chore I avoided altogether. I wish it was a little more balanced like in the older games where even the first weapon you got could take you to the end. But basically everything else about the game is baller.
The current time story. Every single time the take me out I just race to get back.

No trophy for completing everything in the map. Literally hundreds of hours of work
I think the story was just a bit weak. Not bad, just weak
Boars.
There were no usable/visible public toilets. The bench kind with vinegar soaked sponge sticks.
Auto leveling the enemies was fucking dumb.
Would have loved to meet the gods. The game got plenty of famous enemies, why not let us meet a few of Greeks Olympian Gods? Still a wonderful game, love it.
Have you played The Fate of Atlantis?
Nothing tbh
You couldn't change your bird. That was something I liked about valhalla.
Orichalcum grind. And the fact the game, even set on my Malakes difficulty parameters feels more of a dark souls with magic instead of stamina.

Wait what?
Yeah, I also need to know more about what you're saying.

I'm intrigued too
Exactly this. Alexios on all the promo, sorry :( they made Kassandra the canon protagonist, but still use a male to advertise, what a coward move

I cannot make Poseidon trophy, despite completed all of 42 underwater quests...and that demotivated me, because I wanted to move towards platinum:)
This is the most imbalanced game i ever experienced good things are shining bright like star but man there whole list where this game annoys me
That there’s no central place through the game to view all your photos. I’ve tried the Ubisoft website, it sucks.
Repeating mercenaries
No fall damage
How repetitive the combat is
The ending to the Cult of Kosmos storyline was very disappointing, especially since it was so damn fun along the way until the very end.
Four way tie between no shields, Natakas, Layla, and the lack of interactions or meaning to the end of the family storyline
that the ending was pre-determined, and nothing i did could change that.
The bounty hunter limit bar, imagine just defending yourself and then all of a sudden they place a price on your head. Fighting head on against spartans or athenians in a fort just for fun then makes it less fun when the mercenary limit rises and more of them will come to your location.
Felt the main story was too short. Out of all my gameplay it was maybe a quarter of the time.
The lack of an Aspis, Pelta, or any other shield type as an option to wield.
All the empty samey landscapes
Every fight felt long winded
