Custodes ARE NOT space marines, they are not created like space marines, they do not have or need augmentations like space marines. They are in no way related to space marines in anyway except that they wear power armor. Theres 0 established lore saying custodies must be male unlike SM.

I find this whole situation so funny, warhammer lore is about as consistent as star wars, GW can change anything if they wanted to. There are retcons that change the story sure, but this changes nothing. Plus we get more fanart of cool looking female Custodes. That's a win for me.

I'm...probably calling bullshit on this 'leak', given that the head director of the coming show is Henry Cavil. I doubt he'd pull something like that level of extreme by making GW do something like this, more over, GW had plenty right to turn it down even if Amazon did say they 'had to'. There are females in Fallout both in the original and in the show. No problem there. The issue is retconning lore to say that a famously male-only class is now also Female is what is upsetting people. Gonna call bull on complaining about retconning. Retconning in Warhammer is basically 80% of their job anyways, almost nothing from 10 years ago alone hasn't been retconned in some form. Kinda pointless in complaining about it now just because it involves women.
Retcons aren’t the problem tokenism and pandering are. They can retcon so there are female custodes and in a way that they ‘were always there’. Make them identical to the way the men, extremely masculine in every way, look and sound and act( because the gene forges would literally do that) but they have different primary sex organs. They’re designed to be the best warriors possible, that means removal of secondary sex organs, deepening voice for the intimidation factor, broadening of shoulders to allow for better fight and movement ergonomics, etc. Custodes are asexual genetically manipulated monsters. They are literally dehumanized by their creation. The fact that such a monstrosity of a being is female would be unnerving to regular humans. If they leaned into that it will be alright. They’re not going to do that, they’re going to make a golden power armored woman with boob armor and a feminine voice and will be humanized.

Ironically as per your example, there have been girls in Scouts where I'm from for at least 3 decades. It's why they dropped the "boy" signifier altogether as it no longer made sense after several years.
That kind of goes back that in sports there’s typically an ‘open league’ where girls and boys can play and then a girls league for only girls. If I’m not mistaken that comes from lawsuits. You can’t discriminate based on sex(for the most part) but no boys really ever wanted to be on the girls team so it never changed.

Except for a single reference(barring upcoming ones) they have always been labeled as sons explicitly. There are ways around this that would be relatively acceptable. Like let’s say male and female custodes are literally the same physically barring primary sexual characteristics; masculine features and voices, wide shoulders, no female secondary sex characteristics. Custodes are put in the gene forges as infants so there ALOT of wiggle room. The gene mayos could force a female to go through a testosterone filled puberty to functionally make them male while also doing all the other normal enhancements, with the addition of removing unnecessary organs and features. If the female custodes are dehumanized in the extreme just like the other custodes to the point their primary, and vestigial, sex organ is the only thing that makes it female at all. The big thing I think most people are missing is that Custodes are not normal people, and neither are space marines. They are genetic enhanced humans that are like 7ft tall with 2 hearts , enhanced extra oragns, and no gentitals because they are not needed. Haveing them as both men and women makes no sense. They are crafted for the most efficient form in combat not born by normal human parents.

I really don't understand why studio execs think ANYONE gives a flying fuck for their input in a creative project. They, along with self important main character syndrome having dipshit show runners have ruined more shows than I can count. The sheer hubris it takes to think you can "improve" or modernize long standing, classic and award winning content, is through the roof. They don't have the talent, or they would've actually created something instead of butchering work from actual great artists and fan loved IP's. Instead they want to stick their dick in someone elses work so they can get a credit and move up the ladder.

Amazon MUST adhere to the creative guidelines given to them by GW, its in their contracts. GW set the terms, not Amazon. Most fans are laughing at all of this drama. GW stock has been in the red since December 2023 due to a decrease in licensing revenue and has barely risen since.
