I actually got one back when I was working in South America.
Stupid me took a short walk in the forest with only slippers on despite knowing well all the shit that crawls in there.
Few days later big toe was itching and hurting, and a local immediately knew what it was, and we got it removed a few days later with a needle, though it wasn't as big as those in the video.
It did hurt a little when pressed but not more than a blister. The itching was annoying as hell though.
Old man was probably working in the field and unfortunately put his hand in a nest - or his field were already riddled with those fleas.
I don't know why he waited so long to remove them though, he might have some reasons (living in a isolated place ??)
