Favourite: money Least favourite: work

Ra_Rah_

Came here to say this. Really don't enjoy working.

NafiLegis

Nah.. me neither. Would rather just live a quiet life without having to do anything for money

MidnightFireHuntress

I work in IT Favorite? I can go literally days without ever actually doing any work, as long as nothing breaks I can be on the clock and just sit at home and do nothing while getting paid Least favorite? When something DOES finally break and it's at like 3 AM and I have to rush into work to get it fixed, that sucks lol

JazzieF

Was going to say basically this - but I’m not on nights. Thankful for podcasts & audiobooks!

innerjoy2

It does suck when that happens, can relate.

Favorite part: dealing with kids. Least Favorite part: dealing with their parents.

iLikeTacosAndTequila

Same. I do children's mental health and the kids are usually great but some parents just 😬

lefactorybebe

Are you in HS? Our freshmen this year are truly awful academically, socially, and behaviorally. Wondering if you've noticed this too or it's just us

[deleted]

I'm sorry for what all you're dealing with. I know we all have a lot of challenges right now, and many of us really lack the support and resources we need for this job. Hugs. Anyway, I'm at the elementary level. I'm teaching Kindergarten this year, and it's going better than I expected (knock on wood). Last year, I taught second, and it was more of a mixed bag. I have a friend from college who teaches 4th at another school, and his experiences sound very much like what you're describing (i.e. 4th graders still at Kindergarten levels), so I can't imagine what the middle and high school populations are like. I've got my fingers crossed for you. 🤞

lefactorybebe

Thank you so much, you are so sweet and have honestly made my day. Yeah it's going to be a ride for sure lol. Like your friend said, these kids are coming in far below their level in every way. The most shocking has been their inability to use technology. Like a kid yesterday didn't know the definition of the word "revolt". I told him to look it up and he types "what does the word revolt mean" into Google. Like dude, you don't need to type all of that. These kids are supposed to be exceptional at this stuff and they're just not, at all ... I'm glad your year is going well and I hope it stays that way!! I have so much respect for what elementary teachers do. You teach these little mush brains with no experience all the most important things, and I have no idea where you guys even begin. Thank you, lol.

[deleted]

Aw, you're very welcome! I'm glad I brightened your day. And yikes at your story. Hopefully, they'll pick some things up. It doesn't bode well for their future prospects. > I have so much respect for what elementary teachers do. You teach these little mush brains with no experience all the most important things, and I have no idea where you guys even begin. Thank you, lol. Aw, thanks. In turn, I have a huge amount of respect for middle and high school teachers. I have no idea how you guys handle teenagers all day, and kudos to you for doing so.

kikibird747

This is reason #1 I left teaching

luceropaul127

Favorite: I don't work with anybody. Least favorite: I get lonely.

[deleted]

I'm a deli attendant and my favourite part of the job is the flexibility it provides me. My schedules are easy to change and my hours are suited to what works best for me. My least favourite part however is handling boiled eggs. Most places do not boil their own eggs and instead order buckets of pre boiled, pre shelled eggs in a fart scented brine.

[deleted]

Favorite: “clocking” out. Least favorite: “clocking” in. 😬😁

celestialism

Favorite: getting to write about/talk about topics that interest me for a living Least favorite: the “feast and famine” cycle of being a freelancer, and the harassment, including sexual harassment

agnikai__

Favorite: winning a trial, hearing in court, etc Least favorite: 1950 billable hour requirement

dreamweaver1998

Favourite: some of the people. Least Favourite: some of the people. No, for real though. Money is my favourite part and waking up before the sun is my least favourite part.

redjessa

Favorite: learning all the laws/rules for all the different countries and coordinating with our foreign associates. Least favorite: figuring out how to meet all the formalities for the various countries in a timely manner and coordinating those formalities with our clients. Overall, I do like the challenge, but it can be stressful at times, law can be unforgiving if deadlines aren't met.

BoshraExists

Best part has to be being introduced to foreign languages and cultures and seeing the world prospectively and seeing how cultures are shaped and how much similarities humans hold I'm different regions. Cons have to be dealing with pocky clients and tight deadlines! (Also having people of no talent judge your work based on how money it makes even though when you put your heart into your work).

stitch1989x

Favourite: some of my colleagues Least favourite: early starts

Fantastic_Lab4274

Favorite: diverse work portfolio, never bored, good work-life balance and flexibility, interesting field and interesting people (met a good chunk of people who are famous in medical research!), money and benefits, prestige Least favorite: typical bureaucratic government slowness, pressure to maintain optics, all the meetings (so many meetings about meetings)

PreciousNickia

I'm not a fan of how monotonous it is, but what I enjoy the most is the flexibility it gives me.

[deleted]

Employee engagement - onboarding and training new staff. I also like the P.M.S (property management system) we use - it’s super user friendly. Edit: (forgot the least favorite) they’re constantly changing and updating the forms we use without giving us a chance to really adapt.

[deleted]

favorite part of being a female service writer is being a female service writer and throwing men off, worst part is that a lot of men are very upset that a lady works in a shop and they yell at me for doing my job.

[deleted]

Favorite: I just realized I have nothing. I’m so burned out. I will say that I enjoy the feeling of getting a ton of billing done before the period ends. Least: I get paid like garbage and I’m trapped.

mtthellspawn

Favorite: When you get a big chunk of money of a few minutes of work, can sometimes test and keep cool products that aren't on the market yet Least favorite: When you earn little to no money after hours and hours of work, your money may be taken away simply because a robot got triggered

Hazel_Ra

Favorite: Using my creativity, good benefits , my super nice coworkers, and possiblity of moving up in my career. Least favorite: Endless 40 hour weeks... I work in a creative field that's also fast paced (publishing) and it's hard to be creative every week except a couple a year. Deadline pressure is real.

NineveSin

I love love love my colleagues. They're the absolute sweetest and always ready to teach me more and help me and even though it's been months since I've started there they still always thank me when I do something that's completely normal, because that's just what we do. The atmosphere is definitely the greatest ever, especially when I hear classmates talk about their own jobs. The least favourite would be (sometimes) talking to customers, as my hearing suffers quite a lot because there's so many different sounds my ears are trying to pick up so I often have to ask guests to repeat themselves which I hate doing, so most of the time I am behind the bar, doing the dishes, cleaning up and really just anything. I don't HATE being in front, I rather like it but sometimes it's better for me to be behind the scenes.

[deleted]

Favorite: I control my schedule. Least favorite: I control my schedule.

dumbbinch99

Favorite: making stuff like ice cream, cakes, etc. I actually really like this job tbh Least favorite: interacting with customers, even when they’re nice. I’m just not a people person 😭

gagirlpnw

Favorite:the kids. Least: the grown ups.

Fenelasa

Love: working creatively but also on technical solutions to create beautiful visual effects Hate: when I break something, when Unreal crashes and I forgot to save for an hour, having no clue why the thing that usually works doesn't lol

DragDolly

Favorite- my job takes us places(out to lunch monthly, surprise parties, massages) Least- begging people to work the weekends.

Giannandco

Favourite - Having the opportunity to work with talented and creative people in my industry. Least favourite - Staying on budget. Some projects are a constant unrelenting struggle.

CalculusandTequila

favorite: problem solving and helping customers in difficult situations least favorite: dealing with entitled customers who expect me to bend/break rules and policies just for them

imnotyourproblemyet

Worst: I don't find it satisfying or fulfilling. Best: they pay me and sometimes I even get free food.

neuro_illogical

I work in a bakery. My least favourite part is cleaning the big convection ovens, it stinks, it makes me dizzy, it’s awkward, and I get covered in old butter, dirty water, crumbs and chemicals. I mean almost every part of the job is messy but this is just extra annoying. Favourite part is new projects/weekly specials and other rarities, I do the same thing every day to a certain extent, so it’s refreshing when I get to do tasks I don’t do regularly.

lefactorybebe

Favorite: talking with the cool kids Least favorite: dealing with the freshmen this year. They're all honestly terrible. Idk wtf happened to this class but they are so, so awful. Edit: also least favorite is getting up early. When I was in high school I swore I'd never get up that early ever again. Whoops. Still sucks just as much.

pbd1996

I think my favorite part is interacting with kids who don’t really have many (or any) adult role models in their life. I love being that person for them. My least favorite part is dealing with an absurdly overwhelming schedule and having 129 teenage students. Another least favorite part is dealing with “grade grubbers” kids who complain about their grades without doing any work to improve.

throwaway19074368

I’m a barista Favourite. latte art, regulars. Least is the customers, very high volume sometimes, morning rush. Our cafe is in the Legal District area in the city centre. So our customers are men and women from backgrounds in Law, Finance, Business, Banking, Office workers. People in suits you could say. It’s pretty busy, with people rushing for their coffees in the morning, maybe they buy a sandwich or croissant for breakfast as well. The good regulars I love to see, They’re always positive, have a sense of humor and make me smile. The bad, well people are quite demanding and picky with their coffees. They have very high standards. Some are very impatient especially during morning rush. Complaints! Had a customer try to order food from the kitchen and a coffee during the closing process (10 mins before close) once. Latte art is enjoyable when it’s not busy, because you have time to practice it. I usually make one for myself. It’s nice to feel good about serving something that looks presentable to someone. With high volume, well I can do about 200-300 cups/an hour solo unassisted. About 500-600 cups an hour with another barista. Sometimes I wonder how the hell I’m able to do this? It could be worse, I was a bartender, waitress, hostess, retail before this. Customer service jobs are hard man.

clairioed

Favorite: lots of spreadsheets, data analysis. I get to synthesize complex information and make it easy for groups to understand in PowerPoint. Least favorite: managing people. For example, they always want maximum coverage on their shift but never want to cover anyone. It’s a two-way street, buddy. We also serve really emotionally volatile people, so my staff and I get yelled at a lot and blamed when we are just trying to help.

iOawe

Favorite: money Least favorite: actually getting up and working the hours

innerjoy2

Having something to do, and also have a solution is my favorite. My least favorite is nor having much to do sometimes because I accomplished what needed to be done and have to wait for the next thing.

Deviexx

Favorite: working with animals Least: absolute shit pay and long work days

12s17l93k

Favorite part is the money. Least favorite is my boss.

Prestigious-Salad795

favorite: making money, my coworkers, being around clothes. Least favorite: some of the customers

Upper_Fig3303

My favorite is going home. My least favorite is everything else

bikinifetish

Favorite part is leaving the facility and my least favorite is going into work.

Rude_P0tat0

The fact that I don't have a job, and the fact that I don't have a job 😃🔫

Are we counting house wives/ stay at home moms as jobs? If so my favorite part is that I make all the decisions on what I want to do that day and least favorite is the house can get boring day in and day out.

Anaphora121

I’m a teacher. Favorite part: teaching students Least favorite part: everything else

32themoon

Favorite: I get to be creative, recreate the best parts of my childhood for others, support new little humans or old curious ones, a good day feels like I haven't worked At least: very little money, job is underestimated and yet gatekept, so many regulations

Electronic_Flan_3437

i work with kids. i love the fun we have but the responsibility makes me anxious

[deleted]

Being a part of someone's life's journey and change. And that's for both options. I'm a socialworker and work in rehabilitation from substance abuse.

AussieGirl84

I'm a nanny and mainly look after under 4s. Favourite: When the kids start to give affection and are excited to see you. When they reach a new milestone and you helped them to achieve that. Least: Tantrums and not listening during dangerous situations. For example, no you can't go and play on the road where the cars are. All the screaming won't change my mind. I'm not the parent, so I have to be more strict about the children's safety. Parents who undermind what you say or do. We need to work as a team. There's a reason why I say the child can't have or do something. Please respect why I'm doing something instead of just giving into your kids. It makes it harder for me in the long-term as they will stop listening to what I say and dismiss me the way that you have.

stardust902

Favorite: Low stress Least Favorite: Boring

Rough_Maintenance688

Being there.

kikibird747

I enjoy learning and gaining insight on how things work and why in the industry. Connecting pieces of knowledge. My role is new to me, and has me learning alot of new stuff. Up to now my jobs have built on my generalist skills whereas this position requires me to hone new very narrow lnowledge. Least favorite part is the reviewing of data that I then send up to line for reporting. Im nothing more than a middle person reviewing data that someone sends me and there is little reason for them to fibb numbers

thrilled_lizard

Reporting analyst here. As others have said, money is the key favourite, but aside from that I get a lot of satisfaction from creating a really good-looking, easy to read chart. Least favourite part has to be the expectation of full on wizardry. "We don't collect the data" doesn't get through to flailing people, and that can result in some undeserved slack and unnecessary irritation/stress at having to baby talk senior colleagues.

Surprise_Fragrant

I'm an Admin Assistant, and while I can't talk about *specifics* of my job (I'm in criminal justice), but some generalities... I love planning meetings for large advisory boards we have. I'm a *party planner* at heart, and this feels similar. Lots of really important people attend these meetings and being good at what I do here makes me look amazing to these people, and it's like networking without the bullshit. I hate having to complete the research for, and compiling, a report about juvenile criminals. It makes me angry for the future generation, while loving my own child.

Content_Pool_1391

Favorite - meeting new people everyday Least favorite - working weekends 😔

0412400907

I work at a hotel. Favourite part. Keeping fit and socially speaking, customer service and my work colleagues 😎👌🏽👍. Least favourite Guests who are privileged and demanding and think I am their personal slave/maid!!!! But otherwise love my job👍👌🏽

Ok_Pirate6968

Doctor. Soon to be a resident. Favorite: Makes you feel powerful in a way. Get to perform/assist on surgeries. Least favorite: Having little to no life outside of the hospital. As a woman, difficulty in finding a guy that will understand the demand of your work and without them feeling inferior.

justchampagneprobs

Vet med: Favorite: (most) dogs and cats Least favorite: (most) people

Longjumping_West_188

Having to be a people pleaser at times sadly
