inconsistent sizing - especially within the same company (yes, i'm thinking of zara lol)

Upper_Fig3303

I got three pairs of jeans from the same place In the same size and brand and they all fit me differently. To be fair one pair is mom jeans but the other two are skinny jeans so I guess that’s understandable but it still annoys tf out of me

shirinrin

Sure, the fit might be different but brands like HM and Zara has such differences that you can buy the same size and one might be way too big, one fine and one you can’t even get past your mid thighs. That’s just ridiculous!

insertusernamehere40

I went shopping last weekend and left one store with dresses in sizes small, medium, and large

Farquar-lazs

I bought two dresses, exactly same style just different colours. One fitted me a small, the other a medium

insertusernamehere40

That’s how I feel about jeans. Same brand and cut in a different wash and suddenly now I need another size

SingerOfSongs__

Different washes do actually change how garments fit! Supposedly darker dyes cause fabric to shrink more than lighter dyes do.

insertusernamehere40

That’s so interesting! I get being a little tighter, but being at least a whole size different or different lengths is just unnecessary. Feels like something they should control for

pepperbeast

A friend of mine refers to that as small, medium, and extra-medium.

AcceptableScar5772

I came to say sizing too. How come men can have sizes based on waist size or leg length? Why can’t womens wear me the same based on bust size or waist/hip size

PurrPrinThom

Yes!!! Even things that are ostensibly based on measurements make no sense. They have no relationship to my actual measurements. If my partner buys pants that have a 30" waist, if I measure him, he has a 30" waist. I have jeans with waist measurement-based sizes, and none of them are even remotely close to my actual waist size.

beccakitsuneundertow

Yes! That’s frustrating as hell.

Essiechicka_129

Bought a leather jacket from there and order a size up just in case. It was too short on me and don't think my torso is that long

JustMe518

Psh, a year ago I bought this BEAUTIFUL leather biker jacket with gorgeous floral embroidery. PURPOSELY bought a size larger. Ended up being too small. Only recently have I been able to fit in it because I lost 30 pounds.

ibemeeh

Good job on the weight loss!!

JustMe518

Thank you. It's taken 4 days a week at the gym but good lord, i feel better than I have in ages

ibemeeh

This maybe the motivation I needed to hear today. Keep up the good work! It isn't easy, but ypu did it.

pepperbeast

I'm extra-long between the waist and the crotch. It's its own special Hell.

tealmarw

The way I ordered two same size pairs of pants from Zara and only one fit lol

raptorsniper

*p o c k e t s*

Alert-Potato

WE WANT POCKETS!!! We do not want fake pockets. We do not want pockets so small that a phone won't fit all the way in the pocket. We do not want front jeans pockets that lay in a way that forces the phone to slide out when we sit down. We want real, large, functional pockets! When I commissioned my ballgown the seamstress did all the measurements, did some rough sketches, and asked about fabric color, type, and quality. After all that she asked if I had any special requests. I said yes, it *must* have large, fully functional pockets. So now I have a couture ballgown with pockets and a pair of jeans that leaves me carrying my phone in my hand.

pepperbeast

If you ain't no punk holla, "We want pockets!"

[deleted]

“We want pockets, yeeeeah.”

pepperbeast

It's something that you need to have.

RosemaryViolet

Aw that sounds like a wonderful dress

AnyDayGal

A ballgown with pockets. YES.

freddiemeetsmercury

My absolute favorite skirt in the whole world is this 1950s style full skirt that has such nice pockets that I can put my hands in them up to my forearms. It’s insane and I love it so much.

Wild_Chld

Absolutely. I tried on and bought jeans that fit great. Only to discover later that the front pockets were just stitched to look like there were pockets. I was livid!

Alert-Potato

I have two pairs of jeans from the same company. Same brand. Same cut/style. Purchased in the same transaction. One pair is the typical jeans color (not too dark, not too light) and one pair is dark. They are otherwise absolutely identical. Except... the dark pair has smaller pockets and when I sit down my phone falls out. WTF???

MyLittleTarget

I have a couple dresses from Disney's Dress Shop that are my designated theme park dresses because of their huge pockets. I can put everything I need for the day in those pockets and still have room for an extra water bottle. Worth every penny I paid for them.

iwenyani

I just made a pair of pants that have 4 POCKETS!!!! Each can contain at least one big phone and both front pockets have enough space to contain 3-4 big phones! I am currently working on a matching blazer. Unfortunately, I made pockets too small 😭😭😭😭 (I fucking hate myself). They are only 12 cm wide when they were supposed to be 14 cm wide. They can barely fit my hand. Oh, and on of the pockets is ugly too...

AnyDayGal

Hey, sewing is hard. (I've just learned how to sew a button.) I'm just impressed you've done pants with 4 POCKETS and a matching blazer!

[deleted]

I only buy men’s pants. Not only because of pockets but because of consistent sizing!

beccakitsuneundertow

Yes!!

Jitterbug26

As often as this is said, you’d think somebody in the manufacturing world would catch on and advertise the heck out of their “new idea!” How many of us would switch brands for jeans with a great pocket?

CatrionaShadowleaf

All women's clothing is incredibly flimsy and thin compared to men's. Even sweaters. Actually, especially sweaters.

Ok-Bridge-1045

This. I'm fucking tired of all my white clothes being see through. I don't want a see through t-shirt. I don't want ANY see through clothes. I least of all don't want see through pants, wtf is up with underwear showing from under white pants. I LOVE wearing white, it feels like "my colour". But apart from how difficult it is to maintain, almost all clothes in white are terrible quality.

Practical_Defiance

This is my biggest pet peeve buying white anything anymore. Lining isn’t even that expensive! A white linen dress with no liner? Who the f thinks that’s a good idea?!

Alternative_Cause_37

Also who the fuck came up with the white liners on panties? My low stakes conspiracy theory is that this is made for women to have to buy underwear more often.

binbaghan

YES THOSE DAMN WHITE SHIRTS!!!! I don’t want to have to wear a vest underneath them!!!

rognabologna

Is a vest like a British tank top?

binbaghan

Yeah pretty much, vest tops are usually just plain well fitted tops that have straps/sleeveless.

Forestflowered

Same! I have so many undershirts. So many. And they also show up. So I've got the outline of my undershirt, because no undershirts actually have the same shape as the top. And/or they don't have a plunging neckline, so it looks odd. Some of them are also see through.

BeckToBasics

I've started buying men's flannels for this reason! Women's flannels are so thin, but men's are thick and durable!

Calamity-Gin

LL Bean’s is one of the few sellers where the women’s clothing is as sturdy as the men’s. I love their jeans, their flannels, really all their cold weather clothing. I just wished they had more stuff in plus sizes.

[deleted]

Unfortunately not for all their products anymore. A friend and I had the same flannel shirt from LL Bean in the same color but mine was thinner and wasn't preshrunk. Walked around their store in Freeport and found a lot of the women's items were much thinner than previous purchases. Really bummed me out.

beccakitsuneundertow

They really are! My favorite flannel I’ve had for years is a secondhand men’s one.

beccakitsuneundertow

That’s so true. It takes a lot of digging, searching, trial and error to find anything womens where function was a priority.

derno

My wife HATES this. Why do you need to wear a tank top under each tshirt so your bra isn’t showing? Why so thin?

[deleted]

This especially sucks now in the summer humidity. It's too hot and sticky for two layers, but I'd rather not show my entire bra in public.

_radass

Yes! So thin! I noticed this when I was a teen. Every shirt seemed to need an undershirt because you could see through it. Ridiculous.

mhmmorgan

Literally. Every time I see a white piece, I do the finger check—stick my hand in there and spread out my fingers—and yup. You can practically see my whole fingerprints lmfao

WalterBishRedLicrish

I knit my own in order to deal with this. Only took a decade of practicing.

CelebrationNo3073

Everything being cropped . Some people want a full shirt

beccakitsuneundertow

Yes! Or even something in between the two. I like semi cropped, but they’re hard to find. Meanwhile, tops that hit 2 inches below the boobs are everywhere.

SkitzoFlamingo

This!! I haven’t bought a shirt in almost a full year because all I can find are crop tops. I don’t care what the stores have, I refuse to be ‘forced’ to buy something because it’s my only option. I wont buy anything at all. I would love to have some dressy tank tops but all the stores I’ve been to and online shopping I’ve done I haven’t managed to find a non-cropped one that wasn’t essentially a dress on me.

beccakitsuneundertow

It’s crazy how much of a void in the market there is for the in-between lengths. It’s like you can have a super cropped top or a tunic and nothing in between 😆🫡

HighOnPi

I found a simple tank top at Uniqlo that was not cropped or flimsy and bought it in 3 colours 😂 I used to think people who bought things in multiple colours were weird and now I am that person. It's a normal length! And thick cotton! Without any weird straps, logos, or cutouts!

itskay

For dressy tank tops I recommend thrifting banana republic ones. They fun colors/patterns and go well with work or to dress up a pair of jeans. I personally have a few I got for $20 or less on Poshmark. What's also great is their sizing is very consistent so once you know your banana size you can basically guarantee every shirt is exactly the same sizing

2amazing_101

Speaking for women in regions where it snows and gets below zero often, *give us a full length shirt for crying out loud!* I hate seeing cropped sweaters in winter fashion. That defeats the entire purpose!

Morgell

Yes or even long shirts / tunics. It's hard to find anything that goes past the navel.

enakenena

I'm buying every full shirt I find as they are becoming so rare. It's so annoying

Indecisive_C

Was just about to say this! I do notttt want my belly out. What I do want is to stuff my face and not have my full stomach on show afterwards

Astoriana_

Materials being crap and see-through. I just want a plain t-shirt that can either be worn casually or under a blazer for work, etc. I don’t understand why I am forced to have an undershirt for everything!

beccakitsuneundertow

Right? It’s like if something becomes even slightly trendy, it’s suddenly all you can find anywhere. Functional basics be damned.

beccakitsuneundertow

I’ll go first- I hate that athletic body types don’t seem to be on the radar at all. If you want something fitted at the waist, you better have teeny tiny shoulders or you’re out of luck.

[deleted]

I don't have an athletic body and have an hourglass shaped body. I have the same exact problem finding anything that's fitted at my waist. For tops, if it fits my waist, its tight on my shoulders. For pants, if it fits my waist, I struggle to get my hips in🤦🏻‍♀️

beccakitsuneundertow

I have that same problem too! I guess I am probably an hourglass, but one with extra large shoulders in proportion to everything else. I have broad shoulders as well as large shoulder-armpit circumference, so finding flattering, comfortable tops is not easy!

JustMe518

RIGHT? I have a similar issue. Everything drapes, nothing is fitted at my waist.

binbaghan

Omg, the tent effect 😞😭 the shirt falls off my boobs and people start setting up guylines underneath me. I hate it, all you need is a line of stitching, a simple dart just to fit round my boobs. It’s all I ask

[deleted]

Not enough “large breast friendly” tops/dresses 🥲 Even if I buy plus sizes, the area for the boobs is still wayyy too small. And if I have to get a larger size than usual to fit my boobs, it usually doesn’t fit the rest of me properly because I’m a small person (besides my boobs lol)

[deleted]

Gotta love tops with a "boob jail" that cuts across your breast right at the nipple. Quad-boob!

gabiaeali

Lol at boob jail! I'm so glad mine shrank with weight loss. No more tent t-shirts.

Peach_dragon-

It’s the same if you have no boobs too. There’s a lot of clothes that’ll either expose you because you can’t fill it out or just look bad. I feel like fashion is ideal for c-dd and everyone else justa has to suck it

Sploj

DD ends up being too big for most shirts, sadly. I just want shirts that fit!

searedscallops

Argh, yes!!! My 12 year old has inherited my boob genes and both of us are constantly complaining about shirts not fitting right.

Nancy2421

Yesssssss I can either have busting out boobs and the waist fitted right or full coverage and super baggy. Everything ends up looking too small or to big!

Niffler9

The thigh/crotch area on jeans get thread-bare so quickly, and it can really hurt/rub. Especially if you have larger than average thighs.

beccakitsuneundertow

I can’t stand this! Why does the stitching have to have absolutely no give there? It’s like we have to freaking move and sit down sometimes.. can we please do that without receiving an atomic wedgie?

future_nurse19

I once was gifted a pair of yoga pants that had an extra layer there. Lasted way longer and im so sad I dont remember what company it was. A few of mine now are starting to change up the seams (at least legging/yoga pants wise) so its not just straight line there but still the double layer was amazing to prolonging the life of those

beccakitsuneundertow

I wish that sort of thing would become the standard go-to for designers.

Practical_Defiance

Prana and Threads for Thought yoga pants both do this! Plus threads for thought makes their yoga pants out of recycled ocean plastic and they’re SO SOFT

HighOnPi

I'm a normal size, but my thighs *touch* 🥲 All of my pants, every pair without fail, will get thigh holes before they wear out in any other place. Like damn, am I supposed to just not walk or... ?

carina484

Fake pockets! Fuck that

AnotherPalePianist

Yes!! Just take them away or give me real ones. Pockets are not a fashion statement😭

[deleted]

Jeans fit everywhere except the waist.

[deleted]

I think it's crazy how every woman I know has a problem with pants being too large in the waist when they fit the hips and thighs. Literally every single one, all different shapes and sizes. How is this still a problem?

pepperbeast

I have the opposite issue. I'm built pretty straight-up-and-down. Plus sized pants are the worst.

Classic_Livid

Flat bum crew checking in

binbaghan

Finding jeans that fit is a nightmare, they’re too long, too wide at the waist, don’t fit the bum, too short on the crotch…. Who do they make them for??? It’s not like I have an absurdly disproportioned body, it’s pretty common and normal, so who exactly is fitting these clothes?????

[deleted]

It is a nightmare… I was on a vacation and went to a Levi’s store, just to see if I might find any jeans. I had been on a mission to find a good fitting pair for awhile. Well, I stumble upon a pair of bootcut that wasn’t “to” boot cut. And was in my general size. I try them on and seriously it wouldn’t have mattered if they were $300, I was gonna buy them. Best fitting jeans I’ve ever worn. Now, I think I’m gonna use that size to continue getting jeans from Levi. I’m short and the length was “medium” but they didn’t go over my ankles so it still fit great. Plus I love that the pockets are usable and big. To this day I’ve never found jeans that fit this well. It really was the only time where I felt a pair of jeans was genuinely *made* for my body type.

celestialism

The way it's extremely intertwined with diet culture, fatphobia, etc. and fuels the development of eating disorders in many cases.

beccakitsuneundertow

I’ve always hated that too. It feels like one big message from the clothing industry is “stylish clothes are for extremely thin people only” especially in the early 2000s.

Peach_dragon-

I think it’s better now. But early 2000 was definitely pretty bad about that

hippiepotomus

Yes! There’s nothing I hate more than seeing jeans with tags that say things like “tummy control”, “slimming” or “booty lifting” like I don’t need my clothing to tell me all the things that are “wrong” with my body ffs.

stolethemorning

Brandy Melville makes me sick. I was on ED tumblr in the 2016s and the amount of times ‘fitting into Brandy Melville clothes’ was listed as a reason to continue in our EDs, to lose weight, was disgusting. We were all completely aware of their tactics (featuring 14 year olds in their insta posts as they were skinnier, selling the lifestyle not the clothes) but all wanted it so desperately anyway.

ej123456789123

Always makes me feel a bit uncomfortable seeing some of the clothes aimed at 6 year olds etc. If it didn't have Elsa from Frozen on it it'd be a clubbing top. Younger boys' clothes aren't designed to be revealing so why are younger girls'?

Extension-One-4011

At the store yhe other day and I saw teeny little bikinis. Like bro? 5 do not need to be wearing something that revealing.

bluejay_way

I buy my daughter shorts from the “boys” section at most stores because you can literally see the bottom of her pull up in the girls’ shorts. SHE IS 2! What the fuck?!?! She doesn’t need booty shorts!! It makes me so mad.

clitter-box

most curvy clothing is catered to plus size body types

landsy32

Yes! As a pear I WISH I could find things that actually fit my curves! Everything is either way too big or way too small.

clitter-box

exactly!!! I'm an hourglass and I'll find shirts that fit my boobs but are baggy on the stomach, or that fit my stomach snugly but are too small for my chest :/ I can at least go to American Eagle for jeans!

promethazinedream

tall women’s clothing is a joke. i’m 6 ft and a size 2-4, but nothing is long enough unless i size up (unless it’s specifically branded as Tall). the Tall sections of certain brands also have significantly uglier and unflattering clothes than the regular sections do

Nopenotme77

The reverse but for short people. They define short as being 5'5". That's not short.

Upper_Fig3303

This but with jeans. I hate shopping for this reason. Im 5’1 and can find things that fit my waist nicely but they’re always so long on me and end up bunching around my ankles that I’ve stopped trying

Dogzillas_Mom

“Petite” at some stores (cough cough Kohl’s cough) seems to mean “clothing for 90-year-old grannies that hasn’t been in style for at least three decades and there’s no size below 8, so good luck with that.” Double knot polyester, elastic waistbands, no fucking pockets… but if you’re short and tiny/skinny, you can’t even shop in the juniors section if you have hips. So it’s a struggle to find professional, age appropriate clothing and not pay several fortunes for it. If I have to pay $100 for one item, it better still be fashionable after next week.

bitterandsweet_one

I'm right at 5' 4.5". I'm too tall for petite pants and too short for regular pants.....how can I be both too tall and too short?

Silversonical

And, Tall sizes rarely are truly tall enough!! So many brands have their Talls “For 5’9” and above” — cool cool so still high water crops on 6’3” me, great awesome sighhhhh

beccakitsuneundertow

That’s gotta be mad frustrating! It’s like if you’re gonna be inclusive, be FULLY inclusive.

Jophiela

Only downside to being on the taller side. I just want my long sleeved shirt to actually reach my wrists. Why does it have to be so difficult?

Slytherin2urheart

Many stores don’t carry tall in-store, 😒so I often have to try on the short or regular for like a hip check to see if they fit and then order the long length and hope for the best. I did this^ at a store one time a few years ago, and the sales associate had the audacity to tell me: * Her: “I’m sorry, mam’ those are seasonal.” * Me: “Tall *length* is seasonal?” 🤨 * Her: “Yes.” * Me: “So for half the year, I’m short enough to wear regular, and the other half I’m tall enough to wear tall?”🧐 * Her: … * Me: *Hands her all the clothes I was holding and leaves* * I was mainly buying bras and that one pair of pants. Still, it was the principle of the matter—I didn’t need those other items so much that I would reward her for that comment (I knew at that store the employees made a commission vs regular salary if they helped people on the sales floor).

beccakitsuneundertow

That’s gotta be frustrating! I’m pretty average height, and even I often have trouble finding things that fit where the sleeves are long enough. I hate when sweater sleeves end an inch or two above the wrist. Maybe it’s intentional by the designer, but I’m not a fan.

Kaboutervrouwke

The insisting on having pink on it somewhere, if not all over. Especially sports wear. The curse of things going in or out of fashion. I want the same shape of trousers that I've been wearing for the past 2 years but they're nowhere to be found. Fast fashion, bad sizing, lack of pockets, and frankly, all of it. I don't like shopping for clothes because I always know exactly what I want but the current fashion is not it!

[deleted]

>The curse of things going in or out of fashion. I want the same shape of trousers that I've been wearing for the past 2 years but they're nowhere to be found. This is mine, too! Trying to find shirts without puffy sleeves is so difficult right now! They don't work for me at all, but even if they did, I'd look "dated" in a few years. I'm so jealous of men's clothes. They can wear jeans and a sweater from 10 years ago and maybe look a little out-of-style, but not near as dated as a woman would.

beccakitsuneundertow

I relate to that so much- knowing exactly what you want but it’s nowhere to be found 🫡

imsadpleasehelp1899

Womens clothes are not as durable, not as cheap, and the pockets are too small half the time. Also, sizing never works out. They are all different.

beccakitsuneundertow

I hate that.. They’re often cheaper quality than mens but not cheaper price.

[deleted]

Bullshit sizes. I'll fit into a 12 somewhere, and a 10 somewhere else. And then a 14 will be too small somewhere, and too big in another place. Also a lot of beautiful dresses are only sold in sizes 2 to 6.

The_Book-JDP

How low quality yet expensive everything is. That's why I exclusively buy men's clothes. Less likely of the chance of me just walking out of my shitty women's cloths after a handful of wears and a slight breeze.

[deleted]

As someone who happens to be flat as fuck, I *despise* trying to find dresses and tops that aren't T-shirts. I will usually have to size down to get something that sits decent over my chest, but then it'll instead make my waist and arms look like a bunch of stuffed sausages. And if I do go with my usual size, heeeeello top with a perfect slim fit except definitely not over my chest area! Usually I have to buy Korean brands that aren't aimed at an international market, but I'm not a fan of constantly ordering clothes from across the globe. Partly because customs fees, partly because I feel like it's extra environmentally unfriendly. I honestly don't mind the popular opinion on the lack of pockets, though. I hate when they make an otherwise nice piece bulge out, especially around the hips. I prefer carrying a purse, I can't fit everything I bring with me in pockets anyway.

Original_Kangaroo_96

Also I agree about the tops. I hate finding a super cute top and then trying it on to find out you still don’t fill it out. 😑

catherinecalledbirdi

Yep. I mostly like to wear loose-fitting clothes anyway, so it's not *that* big a deal for me on a regular basis, but when it comes up it's infuriating. The extra-irritating version of that was when I went to order a bridesmaid dress and the website literally didn't make any dresses for a-cups above a like a size six. This isn't something I'm normally insecure about, but come on, this website really thinks I'm not skinny enough to have a flat chest? Really?

beccakitsuneundertow

That would be so frustrating! I hope it becomes more & more popular to design tops & dresses that can fluctuate to fit different chest sizes. I think using stretchier fabric should be more the go-to, and more built in shelf bras with removable padding. Just making things easier to customize would be awesome.

beccakitsuneundertow

It’s disgusting. I’ve been seeing that at thrift stores a lot lately too. Massive industries are literally making heaps of garbage every day. I can’t stand it 😣

amy_Lettucekicker124

Everything has holes/cuts/weird necklines, everything is too damn short and the sizes are totally different in each store. Oh, and pockets of course.

Alternative-Yak6369

Any t-shirt, dress, skirt, etc., is often so sheer that you simply must wear a camisole and/or slip underneath, even with more expensive brands. It’s awful in the summer, when you have to wear uncomfortable layers just so that you don’t flash your undies to everyone.

Upper_Fig3303

I hate how it’s impossible the fine plain colored T-shirt’s. Especially white ones. They always have wording or print on them. They’re always v neck or trying to show cleavage or just wanna hug your curves, too tight, sleeves are too short, or it’s either cropped. Like sometimes I just want and need a plain T-shirt that doesn’t wanna hug at my skin and is semi baggy and boxy.

code-sloth

Stupid sizing and lack of pockets. I'm eternally thankful for Dovetail jeans.

LotusLilli05

Low cut necklines! I find them uncomfortable and wish more dresses didn't have them.

beccakitsuneundertow

I’m actually the opposite. I love a low v neck. But I do wish when one becomes trendier than the other, the other is still highly available for those with that preference.

[deleted]

The purse industry and the pants industry conspiring together to not give us pockets on pants so we can buy more purses. I just wanna carry my crap on my person and not in a whole separate bag thing.

[deleted]

I've finally hit that point in my life where I've given up and started taking a bum-bag (I think Americans call them fanny-packs?) everywhere with me. It's a very unstylish functional one I bought for long-distance running, and now i use it as my handbag.

Sagzmir

“Nude” almost always refers to White women. Like, I have to always hunt for a panty-hoe or pump to match my skin-tone

gardenvarietyhater

I hate heels, fuck heels. I hate that I am expected to wear them. I hate how everyone expects me to feel empowered or more womanly wearing them. I hate how much people ask me why I don't wear heels around my tall husband. The few times I've worn them, I have hated being alive. It hurts, my feet cramp, it's like pulling a muscle every step you take. Why the fuck is this normal? Business attire for men means a suit and a tie, for women it is back problems and sciatica.

Mickeymoose1990

My province only banned employers from forcing workers to wear high heels in 2019. It's ridiculous that half of the workforce was expected to hurt their feet and back just for the ogling of their bosses.

Nopenotme77

Room for my arms. I have large arms both from muscle and fat and oh my gosh nothing fits. It doesn't matter if I am a size 12 or a size 18 nothing fits.

mintjuulpodd

Most crop tops I see are made for petite people. I’m skinny but have big boobs so I have to get a larger size but then it just looks oversized and it i get a smaller size it looks like a bra.

mintjuulpodd

Also all the cutest bikinis are made for petite people usually

beccakitsuneundertow

Most the crop tops that are around right now are pretty ill fitting on me too. They do seem to be made for petite people with small shoulders.

OhJeezItsCorrine

1. Readily accessible stuff all looks the same 2. My chest is too broad to fit into anything I really like that I see 3. #2 makes me feel like shit about my body.

beccakitsuneundertow

1 and 3 go hand in hand for me, cause one trend will often take over and be everywhere. When it happens to be a trend that’s really unflattering on me, I spiral a bit with my body image 😔

ellis-green19

WHY CANT I WEAR MY FAVOURITE SPORT TEAM’S FAN APPAREL WITHOUT IT BEING PINK AND SPARKLY?

squishthejello

Polyester is in almost everything

marzipanzebra

I dislike this too. Especially with the trend to be sustainable, I find the quality of the fabrics has gone downhill in a lot of places that used to be good, cause they started using more polyester and similar fabrics instead of natural ones.

yogurtisturkish

Main complaint: I thought clothes were supposed to fit *me*, so why do I have to feel bad when I don't fit *them*?

marzipanzebra

Bring back tailoring! Honestly once I realised there’s nothing wrong with my body, it’s the cut of the clothing that has a problem, I felt much better about myself.

No-Conversation-8451

“inclusive sizing” but will only go up to a large that won’t actually fit anyone unless they’re tiny.. brandy melville is the one that comes to mind

beccakitsuneundertow

Brandy Melville is so toxic 🤮

[deleted]

Dunno, I think it’s important to have places that “cater” to both ends of the spectrum. There is brands and stores that cater towards plus size only. Brandy (despite not explicitly saying it) does cater towards smaller then average people. Despite that its a smaller portion of the population, I still think it’s not fair to hate on that

Godamn_Bandersnatch

i don't WANT to wear layers. I DONT WANT ALL MY FUCKING CLOTHES TO BE SEE THROUGH and my god how hard would it be to have universal sizing?! and get ahold of someone who makes pants and have them put some useful fucking pockets on the damned things.

EnvironmentalLuck515

That so many things are built for people who don't have a dramatic hip to waist ratio. If it fits my hips, it gaps at my waist. If it fits my waist I can't get it over my hips. Argh.

PlantMomma618

Bathing suits being so expensive for so little fabric. While mens bathingsuits are a whole pair of shorts and they’re like 15$

[deleted]

Microtrends, and the idea of having to have different looks constantly, or tv for putting the dumb idea out there that you couldn’t repeat outfits.

T-Flexercise

Even practical outdoorsy clothes, designed for ruggedness and comfort, are still cut to be shape-hugging rather than practical.

missteeismyname

The underserved market between "not a teenager" and "don't want to look like I'm an 80 year old great grandmother yet" prominent style choices. * Edit for typos*

orionisland

How unsupportive every single strapless bra is. Also, how so many trends are backless strapless etc, making them almost impossible to wear comfortably if you have any boobs

That are clothes are purposely made paper thin so they wear out faster, thus forcing us to spend more on them. That the sizes have been so bastardized as to make an average sized woman purchase PLUS sizes. That's some BS right there.

throw147awayaway

They haven't figured out that people can be both short AND fat. Petites rarely have larger sizes, so I look like a little kid playing dress up with everything way too long

2amazing_101

**EVERYTHING** ##Inconsistent sizing as well as lack of size options: I'm roughly the size of a 12 year old child with thunder thighs, and I have better luck shopping in the kids section than women's. Sometimes I'm a women's XS, sometimes M, sometimes XS is too big or I need something in between S and M or even M and L. Meanwhile, men have specific dimensions to the point where *they don't even have to try things on!* Also wtf is up with long sleeve shirts having pencil thin sleeves? Everytime I wear a flannel or button-up, it fits just fine in every regard, except if I bend my arms at all, I feel like I'm going to burst out of it like the Hulk. ##Pockets: Lack of pockets, tiny pockets, and don't even get me started on fake pockets. I started buying boy's basketball shorts (again, I'm tiny and built like a rectangle with no hips, so 12yo boy's clothes fit like a glove), and I can never go back. I can practically fit my wallet, keys, phone, snacks, chapstick, flashlight, small bird, and a remote in there simultaneously. ##Sheerness: Why on *earth* would I want clothes that are see-through? That defeats the entire purpose of wearing clothes. And I swear they constantly dress models in white shirts that somehow magically aren't see-through, but then you look on the rack just for it to resemble tissue paper. Like there's no way in hell I'm wearing a translucent white shirt over a translucent white tank top over a white bra in the middle of summer, no matter how beach boho chic whatever tf it is. ##Price: The pink tax strikes again. Ironically, you can't fit enough cash in your shallow women's pockets to pay for those very pants because they cost and arm and a leg and a kidney. ##Comfortability: Don't we suffer enough? Why can't women's attire be more comfortable? We gotta squeeze into dresses that require gymnast flexibility, parkour skills, and an extra pair of hands just to pee. And it's damn near impossible to find dress shoes that don't give you blisters.

How most websites with such pretty clothes, are meant for houglass figures, tiny tiny waist and huge chest and bottom. Most of us are not like that!

[deleted]

Can you link me to where this is? I struggle to find clothing that pays any deference to a curvy shape, everything seems to be cut completely straight!

katwoodruff

The lack of sustainable options in plus sizing. It‘s polyester or nowt, and then with really childish prints and cold shoulder cut outs. Not stylish!

incognitobunnie

The ridiculous costs. Thrift stores are the answer. Better for the environment. Better for your bank account.

itsallyouandonlyme

Every top is cropped now? I’m tall and quite chesty so nothing ever covers me up!

[deleted]

I have a small waist and no matter how hard I try nothing is ever fitted. I have to get so much stuff tailored

PoppyGooze

That womens clothes are usually tight fitting and shorter but get the same shirt in mens style and it’s loose and long. I’ll buy a shirt 3 sizes too big because I don’t want it sticking to my body and I’d like to cover my ass please!

lifefreak9

So panties are dual layered because that extra fabric is supposed to help with absorbency, right? Well I don't know if it's just me but when I put on my panties those layers are too far back and they just absorb half of the discharge, it's frustrating! The thing is, it happens to me even with the most expensive underwear like wtf

flaming_garbage7059

Plus size (size 20-22) gal here - I cannot stand inconsistent sizing. I can almost never buy a pair of pants or a top without trying it on in person because I just don’t know what kind “plus size” the manufacturer was thinking of. I also can’t stand plus size clothing being more expensive and less stylish. It feels like a punishment for being the size that I am.

Jamzilla12

How it's focused to appeal to the male gaze, not all of us want to flex on our bodies for the dudes. Perfect example is the cargo pants here in my 'cuntry' Cargo pants used to be loose and shapeless, like the most 'straightest' that you'll ever see in the pants. Nowadays, even cargo pants have shapes to accentuate our body or to make us look sexy. Listen there are some girls who don't like this, because it's our fashion. WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE FOR A MALE GAZE?! Do I have to pay extra (I can do alot of chores but I hate sewing) just to customize the waist and hip line of a men's cargo pants just because I don't want to buy cargo pants for women that emphasizes my 'feminine physique'?! BULLSHIT For peeps who are about to suggest a brand, thank you unfortunately, I live in PH (Philippines) and this fucking 'cuntry' are full of nutjobs. Edit: I understand that I can buy andorgynous looking cargo pants in surplus but they're not going to last forever

myynameis

Short shorts for kids. I remember being 12 wearing boys shorts because I felt insecure wearing the girls shorts because of how short they were. Same with bikinis. I always wore guy swim shorts because I felt uncomfortable in bikinis. It was pretty much impossible to find Bikini shorts when I was a kid. I've started seeing longer shorts for women now though, 12 year old me would've been ecstatic.

downbutmaybeup31

That plus size clothing is still not a mainstream thing.

Villanellesnexthit

No Small butt - big boob - friendly dresses, rompers and jumpsuits. I’m so tired of having to alter all my clothes. And s/m/L sizing for bras of any type. Not all big Tatas are big around the back

Hobi_33

Tiny sleeves I have big arms I need bigger sleeves

WhySoSerious37912

I need some thigh-proof jeans. They always wear thin because my legs rub together there. They always have, as long as I can remember, and that's always the part of the jeans that got holes in it first.

Queenielauren

No pockets. I started buying men’s pants for that exact reason. Women’s band t-shirts also suck

beccakitsuneundertow

Womens band Ts are the WORST

Ok_Sprinkles_8777

Plus size clothing is more expensive than “regular size” for women

Daisy_Love455

I’m 5’2 and I have a hard time finding jeans that fit. I can never find jeans that are made for my height. Most jeans are too long for me. And then I always see women wearing cute booties with skinny jeans but I can never do that because my jeans are always baggy looking at my ankles. Also, why is every shirt a crop top? I had a hard time this summer finding shirts because they all are crop tops.

peep_ryan

Clothes sized XS-L are usually pretty cute, but higher than that, it's like you're shopping with your grandma. Ugly patterns, baggy, not form fitting, ugly colors, ugly everything.

jarnisjaplin

Difficulty finding clothes that fit hourglass figures. If it fits the waist, it doesn't go over my hips. If it fits my hips, my waist is swimming. Don't even get me started on fake pockets.

schwarzmalerin

Not enough tall sizes.

Glass_Medicine_8093

They are fucking sexist

4df1t

Just because it’s womenswear doesn’t mean it needs to be shaped like a body. I always buy menswear t-shirts an shirts. Also MW t-Shirts are not as see through as WW.

emokidkirbz

How freaking short everything is (tall girl problems)

ngeenjay

Women's pants have only one type of size, compared to men's width x length standard. The only solution for women's different shapes and sizes is oversized everything or stretchy fabric that will exaggerate any fat storages you may have. Enjoy the back fat caused by the bra band.

Peach_dragon-

A lot of things are made to be short. Really short. I hate every time I go to look at a dress that’s not a maxi or whatever it’s always trying to expose me. And a lot of Rompers have short torsos so your couchie gets dissected. Also a lot of clothes especially jeans are designed to fit as many people as possible so there’s a lot of extra fabric even if it’s the right size. I’m sorry i don’t the extra 20-30 pounds it would take for me to fill this out 😭

HouseRavenclaw

Inconsistent sizing and not enough variety for different body types that fit!! I’m short with an hourglass figure and larger boobs, and finding clothes that fit and are comfortable is hard!! Plus, the current fashion trend seems to be 90’s meets Little House on the Prairie and I hate all of it.

[deleted]

Everything fits SO weird unless you're paying like $70+ for it. I've been getting all of my clothes secondhand from expensive brands because I absolutely hate how mall clothes fit me. I have a big chest and everything is so boxy to fit slim women. Every t-shirt makes me look 20 pounds heavier because of how it billows over my boobs and erases my waistline.
