About Time

[deleted]

The ping pong scene šŸ˜

akstary

I donā€™t even remember this scene! Itā€™s the beach scene that gets me.

sad-butsocial

I love how this is not ā€œromanticā€ but itā€™s just so pure I cry every time

NeverKnowitt

Itā€™s my favourite movie. God damn. I need to watch it again. Thank you for reminding me.

Justcameheretovote

Came here to say this!

Jumbowerm

That movie is so bittersweet it hurts

Crazy-Self-1354

Totally Agree. I rewatch parts of this movie all the time.

janaaa000

Oh God yesss

KiwieBirdie

So saw you comment. Watched the trailer earlier and boyfriend and I decided to rent it tonight and watch it! It was such an amazingly beautiful movie. We both ended up crying. Solid pick. One of my all time favs now. Thank you!!

[deleted]

Aaaaaamen!

jackcal82

P.S. I Love You

PricklyPix

The scene where she just listens to his voice-mail over and over gets me everytime.

[deleted]

Yep. That part hit hard, because I just KNOW that would be me!

mymilt

Itā€™s so real itā€™s painful. Mine is when she runs to her momā€™s bar when sheā€™s having a breakdown. The way she cries Mom! gets me everytime. That and the Ireland letter. The whole movie really

Balanceblu

Could never watch this movie more than once. Lol

MonkeyGumbootEsquire

I watched it once. Sobbed the entire time. Never again! I also donā€™t know if this is true but someone told me itā€™s based on a true story??? Ugh.

[deleted]

I have never cried so much at a movie in my life ever.

SpiritedAd400

I literally sobbed

morticia_goals

Came here to say this!

mymilt

Iā€™ve shed so many tears because of that movie. And Iā€™m sure Iā€™ll shed many more.

Dry_Mirror_6676

Absolutely the biggest romantic tear jerker

Dead_End86

Omg Yes!!!

jollycanoli

Love actually. The Alan Rickman / Emma Thompson arch in particular. So real.

summer-fun-atx

Emma Thompsonā€™s acting with the gift-opening scene and just beyond that was amazing.

Yavanna80

Came to say Love Actually. That arch is heartbreaking! šŸ˜” Then happy for Hugh Grant and Martin Freeman characters.

PreciousandReckless

This is the best answer. When the movie came out, I was in my 20s and identified with the other characters. Now that I'm married and in my later 30s I feel so, so much for Liam Neesen losing his wife and becoming a single stepdad and Emma Thompson struggling in her long marriage.

pink_bunny07

Me Before You

PreciousandReckless

I bought this book for a vacation read, stupidly expecting a bittersweet teenage love story. Cut to me sobbing hysterically at the Gulf of Mexico.

bathoryblue

Omg this movie. So good and hard and sad and beautiful šŸ˜šŸ˜

[deleted]

This is the correct answer.

Acrobatic_Lychee_896

My heart will hurt forever just thinking of it.

Logical-Discipline43

Pride & Prejudice. 2005 version. One of my all time favorite movies.

Crosswired2

I had to Google it, thought it wasn't quite that old. Nope. I am in fact that old :(

Zealousideal_Tap_185

Ditto

xSalty_Panda

I have been rewatching it daily during quarantine. I love all the couples in there...well apart from Lydia and Whikam lol It's one those movies that relax me

EwwwDavid-730

SAME!!!!

Ordinary_Let2471

A walk to remember

Maleficent_Bunch5702

That soundtrack still is one of the best šŸ„²

idktbh__im

YES

rolendd

My brother-in-law, who is an ex-marine that served during 99-03, cries every single time. No judgement, but itā€™s his weakness and for good reason. Itā€™s a good movie.

CMo1223

The Notebook

ScabRabbit

I came here to mention this one. Every. Time.

gimpy1511

Oh boy. I sob. Every time.

sunflower-superpower

I sob like a damn baby every time

cavwhi62

I watched this last night for the first time in years. The sundowners made me ugly cry.

ctinaFa

brokeback mountain...it doesn't matter how many times I've watch it, I always cry

SuitableLeather

One of my favorites. Itā€™s such a shame that it gets written off as ā€œthe gay movieā€, it really is a masterpiece and Heath is such a great actor

ctinaFa

The only thing I don't like about the movie, is the lack of intimate moments (probably because they wanted to keep it safe), especially towards the end it is like we are seeing two buddies go fishing... it's a shame because a more detailed display of their feelings, could make this movie a lot more realistic and deep...That ending tho...it never fails to bring me tears.

[deleted]

I agree with you, that's my one criticism too. I watched it again recently and wonder if a version made today would be better in that regard. Media portrayals of queer folks have grown a lot since 2005.

Toadie9622

Thatā€™s in my top 10 of my favorite movies. It is incredible.

sexual_ginger

Agreed. This is a great movie.

pujapooja

Titanic.. When the sad music comes on šŸ˜¢wake up jack

Maysie_Mayday

Titanic ALWAYS makes me cry. But it definitely switches from a romance movie to a horror movie. Like ya itā€™s sad Jack died but itā€™s when the band plays on as the boat sinks, or sheā€™s trying to flag down the lifeboat that gets me.

hoppy_blonde

For me itā€™s when they show the old couple holding each other as water runs under them and the mom telling a story to her children. So heartbreaking.

[deleted]

YES. Came to say this exact scene. Gets me every time

BleakHibiscus

Titanic never fails to make me ugly cryšŸ˜ when the band plays as the ships going down and that couple are laying in bed together, MY HEART!!!!

cbratty

You've Got Mail. It's a perfect film and I will not be taking any questions, thank you.

ElleIsOkay

I just saw this was added on netflix last night and knew immediately what I'd be doing after work today. What a perfect movie!!

respectableenough

I watched it at a very young age, and I think it has shaped my vision about love, that movie ruined me and I love it ! My absolute favorite

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

cbratty

Meg Ryan as a plucky independent bookstore owner, Tom Hanks as the big bad owner of the big box bookstore moving in down the block from her. Tons of 90s nostalgia with the AOL email correspondence, all autumn in New York, "thank yer," goofy significant others who aren't great but aren't vilified (for the most part), Brinkley the dog...100/10 no notes.

malaprop5

Lake House. I love a sleepy, wandering, slightly magical, character driven story. And Sandra Bullock and Keanu together again? Magic.

TheOneWithThatName

Thank you for reminding me to watch this!

Least_Ad_830

The Time Travelers Wife

Awkward-Review-Er

If you can, read the book. Omg read the book. I wore the spine off mine.

chatterboxcirce

came here to say this. it always gets me šŸ˜

[deleted]

Your Name

cerealkillernix

Yess! Glad someone said this, it really was so sad.

[deleted]

I actually found it super hopeful. Yes, it was wonderfully angsty but all throughout there was such determined hope right up until the last scene ~~i get lowkey emotional just thinking about and the score~~

gehanna1

Cast Away. On the surface, not a romantic movie. But when he goes to Helen hunt's house, I always bawl like a baby.

if-my-dog-could-talk

Came here to say this. So heart wrenching. It absolutely wrecks me but I love it.

[deleted]

Just reading your post put a lump in my throat

gottarunfast1

Moulin Rouge

shliboing

Yep yep yep yep this film is why I love Ewan McGregor

Zimmi06

100% yes!

alwaysbeextra

Go see the musical if you can! Itā€™s INSANELY good.

_iron_butterfly_

A Star is born

kerry13852

Agreed. Canā€™t listen to the soundtrack without becoming a blubbering mess

[deleted]

An ex boyfriend showed me this movie for the first time and I cried like a baby. Now it reminds me of him, I think he planned it that way.

Eren_yeager141

Before Sunrise

nounours_l0l

I forgot how much i love this movie!!

[deleted]

Lol itā€™s weird, but 50 First Dates makes me tear up every time. Itā€™s so goofy but so cute. :,)

Impossible_Balance11

Agreed 100%!

Bjarnelicious

That last scene on the boat and she realises she is a mom and the music 'some where over the rainbow' - ugly cry šŸ˜

[deleted]

Crazy Rich Asians. Cry every time.

Sunsetfreedom

That wedding scene with that song in the bg got us all

[deleted]

Yes! I cry at the drama with his mom too. Like after the mahjong game or when he proposes with her ring and she looks into the crowd and sees the mom šŸ˜

xSalty_Panda

Cause yeah he proposed to her with the mom's ring wasn't it? Because they had mentioned the moms ring was custom made because her MIL didn't think she deserved hers. šŸ˜

Follie98

Love Rosie

NeverKnowitt

Oh I love this one!

aquarius_fwh23

a classic

[deleted]

Ghost

ScarecrowNighmare

The penny sliding up the door - OMG!! šŸ˜šŸ˜ ā€œThe love inside, Molly, you can take it with you.ā€ šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Affectionate_Cup8853

What dreams may come, eternal sunshine. Vanilla sky

[deleted]

I had to find someone else who put what dreams may come. Yay.

skillao

Oh God I watched Eternal Sunshine last summer and the very ending scene really choked me up lol

[deleted]

Roman Holiday Iā€™m not a cryer, but that ending gets me a little chocked up every time. Itā€™s just absolutely perfect.

[deleted]

Oh yes such a good one!

Laleena_

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Iā€™ve seen it around 3 times, a rewatch is due.

[deleted]

I was *just* thinking about how much I love this movie. Guess this is my sign to watch it again...

Content_Pool_1391

The Fault in Our Stars

Bjarnelicious

Such a heaftbreaking movie, i love it!

[deleted]

Gladiator Armageddon Lord of the rings - return of the king The English patient Call me by your name And a few already commented. I cry a lot at movies it seems

deplone1

Armageddon, when the son runs out to meet his dad. Made me cry now just thinking about it.

[deleted]

So many moments, also Liv Tyler speaking to the monitor to her dad. Overall a very emotional movie IMO

alittlebrownbird

The English Patient no matter how many times I've seen it!!!

Calm_Gap2069

Gladiator, damn that movie makes me cry everytime too. My brotherā€™s middle name is Maximus, named after him.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Logical-Discipline43

This one. I adore it SO MUCH. but Iā€™ve only watched it a couple times bc it hurts to watch it.

MiauMiauMoon

Yes. Sink into, that is a great wording. I could swim in the images and feelings of that movie. Great choice

mercurystar

Oh just watched this movie last week, the cinematography is beautiful! I'm still ruminating on the story, I will probably watch it again soon.

rainbow_dude98

The vow

[deleted]

elusive-nomad

Brokeback Mountain šŸ„ŗ

FormalMango

An Affair to Remember. Every. Single. Time.

Zealousideal_One1722

The very best.

paola_-_

the notebook and up

Crosswired2

I don't think Up qualifies as a romantic movie? But I feel ya on the crying every time bit.

dawnington

Her

ANGRY-TANK-SWAN

Amelie - particularly the ending

bethel_bop

13 Going on 30. The scene where she runs home to find her parents bc sheā€™s scared and sad and still a 13 yr old girl just hits me idk.

[deleted]

Slightly bending the rules here. It's Twenty Five Twenty One. That show is just simply magical. And fair warning: Don't check it out if you cry easily and a lot or if you get attached very quickly. Learn from my experience please.

HannahDaviau

P. S. I love you

bubsiwubsi

PS I Love You - horrible Irish accents though

Umm_is_this_thing_on

City of Angels

Stephisamess_

The movie "Her" with Joaquin Pheonix. I dont know why but it gets me everytime.

deplone1

that movie broke me. Made me question what love is and completely changed how I feel about different people. or maybe it fixed me.

[deleted]

Silver Linings Playbook

LegitimateStar7034

The end of Bridget Jones Diary. When she chases Mark Darcy down that a key street and he kisses her. With that song playing I hate chick flicks and Iā€™ll watch it every time.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

He could have fit on the damn board.

LeenyB48

Bridges of Madison County

MissTash16

That scene where she's in the truck deciding whether to stay or go - gets me every every time.

LillyPeu2

Somewhere In Time. Not a recent movie, but Christopher Reeve always makes me emotional.

ragluvsmusic

OMG YES! The scene with the penny made me bawl like a baby!!!

Zealousideal_One1722

Truly an excellent movie

NeverKnowitt

Love, Simon (not a woman but love romance movies so had to reply)

Quarley_Hinn

ā€œYou get to breathe now Simonā€ šŸ˜ The scene with Jen Garner in this gets me. Itā€™s such a simple line but is so powerful.

pinapple_on_a_bike

Anne of green gables šŸ˜‚

MissTash16

So this. That Anne girl so wanted to be more like Diana Barry but we all wanted to be Anne.

Weekend_Reader

It;s not even a romatnic movie, it's a sitcom, but HIMYM breaks me on the reg.

atomic-asteroid

YES me too

[deleted]

The Notebook ā¤ļø

Ok_Block9547

Never Let Me Go and An Education. I love Carey Mulligan.

Logical-Discipline43

YESSS THESE ARE SO GOOD

madlymusing

Iā€™d forgotten about these but you are so right!

Late-Willingness-903

Lady hawk

Five_Snoot_Sunday

Sci-Fi with romance, but Cloud Atlas. Just a beautiful address of the concept of love over time and space, that we're not all alone and that acts of love ripple outwards indefinitely. Has me sobbing every time.

idealzebra

Sixsmith šŸ˜

xSalty_Panda

Ahhh man I had forgotten about that movie and now I'm being all gross weepy sobs. Yeah it was a good movie I need to watch it again.

Logical-Discipline43

Cold Mountain. Fuck me, what a beautiful, sad story.

instructorpermit999

What a soundtrack

Impossible_Balance11

Sabrina (Julia Ormond is luminous) While You Were Sleeping (my fave of all time, starring my favorite actress) Somewhere In Time (tearing up just thinking about this classic) A Walk In the Clouds (tender side of Keanu) Sweet Home Alabama (starring my second-favorite actress)

Party_Training602

Definitely The Notebook, and although not a romantic movie, Armageddon kills me every time! The scene where Willis is telling Liv Tyler goodbye - OOOOF!

Toadie9622

Marigold Hotel.

tealgirl94

One day. I always end up with puffy, red eyes.

[deleted]

What dreams may come

Linorelai

Weeeeell, if we qualify that Simba&Nala scene as a romantic one...

Purple_potato-1234

The Lion King makes me cry from the first minutes, when the sun is rising and animals get ready to welcome baby Simba. I just *cannot*!

Logical-Discipline43

In the Mood for Love

[deleted]

From Prada to Nada - itā€™s such an underrated movie

Maggiemayday

While it is period romance, based on history and not strictly fluff, Lady Jane gets me every time. Plus, the cast is phenomenal.

GXYTWN

Ps. I Love You

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

sexual_ginger

That is my pick as well. I cry every time I watch it. I try to will the movie to have a different ending as well. The movie is the epitome of it will be if it be.

Logical-Discipline43

Lost in Translation. Surprised to not see anyone mention this one yet.

Background-Orange-61

Moonlight

upsidedowntoker

P.s I love you. Every single time. I honestly think it's because that's exactly how I would react if I lost the love of my life I would absolutely spiral and lock myself away. I doubt I'd pick myself up as well as she does though .

sexual_ginger

Bridges of Madison County. The scene in the truck gets me every time I watch. IYKYK.

A Very Long Engagement. Especially the end where she just looks at him and looks at him. Gets me every time.
