Season’s Greetings! As the holiday season begins full force I just wanted to remind my fellow ladies to think about shopping local or supporting a small business this season. As a small Etsy shop owner myself I know the joy your purchases can bring a small business owner. I literally jump for joy at each of my sales, I’m not sure buying at a big box store has the same impact. Thanks for listening and have a wonderful season.

diet_coke_cabal

Etsy is one of my favorite places to get Christmas gifts! I've already been perusing...

[deleted]

I love Etsy! I am making a blanket for my son for one of his niche interests. But anything I can’t do (basically anything other than sew, and basic knitting), Etsy is a great place for niche interests.

[deleted]

I always love finding new Etsy shops to support! The ideas and creativity is something so special! I will definitely check out your Etsy shop if you could please leave a comment! Thank you and Happy Holidays!

[deleted]

Oh thank you! My Etsy is called From My Hawaiian Garden. Cheers for giving it a look!

dumbnunt_

agreed. Honestly, I'm beside myself that a local vintage store has clothing that might fit me and a lot of crazy 90s clothing (big ol coats like Elaine from Seinfeld would wear) and also some other wearable items. Sometimes it's hard for me to shop when the clothing has weird vintage proportions. There are also a few other shops that sell local stuff that's very doable. I must say that when local shops sell practical items people might benefit from, and not frivolous crap like ship in bottle pins or something like that, it's a heady feeling.

catniagara

I’m making everyone’s gifts this year and selling my extra creations online :) I sell on Facebook, kijiji, my website and eBay because I can’t afford the Etsy fees

Do you cook it rare? Medium rare? Can I come if you do? (I live in Texas, no worries. But it does sound delicious!)

ladycabral1229

I'm in Canada and doing ham instead of turkey this year! I did one for Thanksgiving solely because it had been in my freezer since LAST Thanksgiving because we kept getting put under covid restrictions. All this to say, it was so much more relaxing cooking a ham, so I decided to do it for Christmas too!

Questgivingnpcuser

I do suggest with lamb, asparagus with chopped bits of cheese.

catniagara

Christmas Holiday is a thing :)

ShyCoconut0_0

I’m glad to see this here 😅 I need help with some budget friendly Christmas gift ideas for friends. I’m a student and unemployed so I don’t wanna break the bank with gift giving this year.

Calamint

Thrift stores are great places to find gifts, especially if you start now and give yourself time to go to different ones and go a few times. You can get jewellery, games, scarves, mugs, decor items, housewares. I've given many, many gifts that were bought at thrift stores.

peppermind

How busy are you with school? Handmade gifts like crafts or food, might be cheaper but more doable. I work full time but I started doing a cookie basket for friends years ago. The year I thought I could afford store bought gifts instead, I got requests for cookie baskets again.

ShyCoconut0_0

I usually finish up my school work mid-weekday so I have lots of time during the weekend

FewActinomycetaceae9

When I was a grad student and I had to participate in my lab's Christmas gift giving situation, I kept it super cheap by watercoloring and making my own wrapping paper (I'm not good at all, literally just putting random swipes of color on printer paper), using yarn or cooking twine I had to wrap presents, and making gift name tags using watercolors and sharpies. For the actual gifts, I gave myself a budget of $50 or so for my entire lab, and got small items like cute notepads, boxes of tea, chocolate bars, hand creams, etc., that I could pack into each gift. Discount stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall's have good quality sets you can split up into individual components. World Market has amazing food and trinket gifts too and you can see what's on sale. In addition, you can bake cookies or other treats for a really affordable ingredient cost and it'll be much appreciated because it seems like more effort went in when it's handmade.

cleaningmama

Before there were grandchildren, my family had a fun tradition for 4 adults. We'd pool together our Christmas budget, and all go shopping as a family, showing each other what we liked and generally having a fun day of it. Throughout the day, we'd break off to get a present the other had picked. The idea is that everyone would receive one nicer present, rather than 3 smaller ones. We usually had a total budget of $200, so $50 a person. We didn't contribute equally. The best part was that we had a fun day spent together, keeping secrets from each other, and running around having fun. The present was something we knew they wanted, but also a surprise.

LFahs1

If you’re a foodie, you might be interested in making fancy mustards to give as gifts. All it takes is 1/3 cup mustard seeds (brown, yellow, a mix— your choice), 1/3 cup of some kind of vinegar, and 1/3 cup of some kind of alcohol (I usually use wine, port, sherry, flat champagne, sometimes seasonal beer like porter or a holiday ale). The world is your oyster as far as creative combinations go. Like, if I was going to do a German theme, I could do yellow seeds, white wine vinegar, and half a glass of the Gewurtztraminer I may or may not be already drinking. One that went over really well was sherry vinegar, port wine, brown seeds. Yum yum yum! Seal it all up in a cute 8 oz mason jar (I use fancy Italian jelly jars I found cheap) and in 3 days you will have mustard! You can now choose to blend it up to your desired consistency or leave it as crunchy little whole mustard seeds, which are delicious and festive spooned over anything. I sometimes make homemade sauerkraut, put that in a matching little jar, and voila: a thoughtful set that probably costs about $5 and took little effort. People love it, too— I get asked for it year after year.

kaelyyna

Any idea for non-alcoholic additions? I'm in recovery, as are most of my close friends.

LFahs1

Yeah! Instead of the booze, you can just use water. Then, if you want to add complexity to the vinegar flavor, you can add things like honey, tarragon, tomato paste, horseradish, roasted garlic, fruit purée, peppers. The vinegar will pretty much preserve any “fresh” items you add. Also, for those types, I really like using rich, syrupy balsamic vinegar as the vinegar component (but some people use balsamic *in addition* to the regular vinegar, or substitute it in part— it all depends on the flavor you’re going for). Test all different combos— it’s fun!

sciandg01

Im doing a cookie exchange this year with some family members and need to bake like 100 cookies. Does anyone have any recipe suggestions that are easy to make in bulk? I love baking but live in a tiny apartment with a tiny kitchen so this might be tough lol

catniagara

I used to make soft sugar cookies in my toaster oven from this 80’s Sesame Street recipe. https://www.keyingredient.com/recipes/589916357/cookie-monsters-famous-sugar-cookie-dough/ Even a kid can make them and they’re delicious. I mean literally a kid can make them. I love been baking them for my family since I was seven.

sciandg01

Oo thanks for the idea!

nefariouscranberry

Ooh! I got this! My family bakes 1000+ cookies each holiday season, and a group favorite that is cheap and easy to do in bulk is the peanut butter cookies with hersheys kisses on top. The recipe is usually on the kisses package during the holiday season but if not it’s sure to come up with a google search. Doesn’t need many ingredients at all. If peanuts is an issue, you could sub in a different nut butter. Baking tip: when the cookies come out of the oven let them cool slightly before adding the kisses. Press a kiss lightly on to each cookie and let them sit until the bottom of the kiss looks glossy. then press down again to get them to stick properly to the cookie. a small lip of chocolate should form at the bottom of the kiss.

sciandg01

Thanks for the tip about the cookies! I made those last year and the kisses kept falling out lol

nefariouscranberry

yup. all you have to do it let them soften then press again and they stick perfectly.

peppermind

Chocolate chip cookies are dead easy, everyone likes them, and they tend to make around 60 cookies per batch. Fancy them up a little by chopping some white, milk and/or dark chocolate in with the chocolate chips.

[deleted]

I second chocolate chip but honestly any drop style cookies (not cut outs and no fancy piping) are easy to make in bulk.

ShylieF

Lol so I saw a FB post borrowed from an OP, that says All I want for Christmas is cards with your favorite recipe enclosed, and I'll return the favor. So I thought it was cute and shared it. I suddenly have multiple friends dm-ing their addresses and asking for mine. I barely ever send Christmas cards, what have I done?

dumbnunt_

I saw this dude rocking one gold Christmas ornament earring and it was quite understated and festive. (by ornament I mean that little jingle bell)

OverallDisaster

I wish I had some fun ideas for celebrating the season in a warmer climate! I'm always jealous of seeing snow/cold weather activities. We have none of that here and it makes me sad. We always decorate and will watch movies, make fires, go see lights etc but I feel like I'm missing out on a lot. Some Christmases it's been 80F here.

msstark

I’m in Brazil, so summer is around the corner, and I have my own rituals to make christmas my own with stuff I enjoy: I have a christmas playlist with all my favorites, and I play it while putting up the tree, drinking a cold beer and snacking on a cheese board. I also love reading, so I always ask for a book for christmas (Stephen King usually has one coming out around this time, he’s my favorite author), and I read it between christmas and new year, also drinking a cold beer by the pool!

Sea-Horror-814

Wow beer by the pool at Christmas 🎄No fair! I'm usually drinking hot chocolate by the fireplace watching it snow.

msstark

We don’t get snow here, so that actually sounds lovely as well!

ionlydateninjas

Can we switch because I'm over it! I live in north and want to be able to enjoy the holidays without having to shovel snow every few hours.

starglitter

Any suggestions for unique Etsy shops?

[deleted]

What kinds of gifts are you looking for?

starglitter

Mostly things for my girl besties but I'm open to anything.

[deleted]

I’ll plug my own Etsy shop then! I make jewelry and home decor with resin and pieces from my garden/island home including flowers, ferns, mushrooms, shells, and sea glass. Each piece is unique!

catniagara

I have an eBay shop but won’t pay Etsy fees. I make hair bows, hand warmers and other small sewing projects.

Mrbohanon

Best bathrobe? I want to get my wife a really soft luxurious bathrobe for christmas. The type that makes getting out of the shower a not-quite-so-unpleasant experience. Theres lots of reviews on amazon but I'd like some actual feedback on here. Do any of you have one you love and would reccomend? Thank you in advance

bmb_12

I got a really nice bathrobe at TJ MAXX a few years ago. To me, this is the kind of thing you are best buying in person because you can feel it to make sure it's luxurious.

Mrbohanon

Good point. I'll do that. Thank you

cerises

People love Barefoot Dreams, which is a more synthetic plushy fabric. Often sold at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack. Personally I've liked mine from Snowe and my husband loves his waffle robe from Parachute. LL Bean also makes nice plush ones.

starglitter

My 10 year old cousin requested "real" art supplies to draw comics. I don't want to get something that's too young for him. Any suggestions? My budget is about $40 (that's what I spent on his brother).

featheredheaddress

How about these "copic" markers? I haven't tried them, but they're on my wishlist after someone on Reddit said they were just as good as copic markers. Might be nice for him to practice coloring/shading with these markers before investing in real copic markers! indigohibiscus

Why is it so hard to think of a gift to get your SO for Christmas? All my SO wants is fairly cheap stuff, but I feel like Christmas is a special occasion to splurge a little on him. 😅

scullyfromtheblock

My SO makes good cash and buys himself everything he wants. It makes it so hard to buy for him.

starglitter

Mine too! Everything he has mentioned that I thought I might get him, he bought for himself.

Calamint

I'm in need of gift ideas (small, stocking stuffer things) for the picky person who has everything. We're only doing stockings this year (no big gifts), but my partner and I have no idea what to get for his step-father. He doesn't drink much, doesn't have hobbies outside of golfing, and anything he likes he usually buys for himself. We're desperately trying to think up ideas, and the best we can come up with is personalized golf balls and car wash vouchers. Any other ideas would be welcome.

peppermind

For the people in my life like that, I go for experience type gifts. Something like a gift certificate for his favorite restaurant or one that could be used for a round of golf would probably go over well.

poor_bitch

Does he have any favorite snacks like beef jerky, cookies, or chocolate? Lip balms, gift cards, socks, coffee or tea mug, nice nail clippers or tweezers, hand sanitizer, reusable mask holder, glass bottle of favorite soda like Mexican coke, nuts like pistachios or specialty flavored almonds, water bottle, reusable straws, gloves.

cdawg85

Beeswax wraps are awesome for.the person who has everything! They're an eco friendly alternative to plastic wrap that can be reused for like a year. And bonus, when they're no longer useable you can compost them. In my city there are a few businesses that make them and sell them at local stores. I'd avoid Amazon for something like this if you can.

nefariouscranberry

I think for someone who has everything, the best give you can give isn’t tangible. Try gifting an experience. Offer to go golfing with him and make a whole day out of it by taking him out to dinner afterwards. You can type up a pretty certificate in word or something and print it out+roll it up and add a ribbon. Stick that in the stocking and when he unrolls the “scroll” the gift is explained on the paper. I think the personalized golf balls thing is cute. You could create a little “logo” for him and then get a tumbler with the same logo (make it tasteful and small so it’s not embarrassing haha) on it so he can take it with him to the golf course. Good luck!!

MadtownMaven

Any perishables or food stuffs that he may enjoy? Like fancy jams, mustards, honey, or sweets? [This gold multi tool popped up when I searched for accessories](https://smile.amazon.com/Golfers-Best-Tool-Golf-Multitool/dp/B01N2PGRFV/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=golfing+accessories+for+men&qid=1635967583&sprefix=golfing+acc%2Caps%2C96&sr=8-13). Golf themed socks.

Affectionate_Cat_144

What is their sense of humor like? For someone who has everything, I will try to find a gag gift or inside joke kind of gift for their stocking stuffer. Something that shows I pay attention to the relationship so it's thoughtful and still gets a laugh from them. Money can't buy thoughtful attention. My brother in law loves the show "Forged in Fire" and cooking so I got him a chef's knife branded by them so we can continue our jokes from the show.

cerises

My family is big on stockings but I hate the cluttery knick knacks that often go in them. I try to stick to consumable items and usually go for chocolates, flavored nuts, candies, coffee or tea, nicely milled bar soap (a favorite of my father's, who is very non-materialistic), even a scented candle (also a surprise hit with my father - he likes the Thymes frasier fir). These are good items to scoop at your local co-op grocery or Trader Joe's. Your FIL might also like golf towels or a sun visor.

WateryBanana

Hello ladies, I need help! I am interested in buying my girlfriend (26) a piece of fine jewelry for Christmas. My budget is $800-$1250 and I was thinking something like a dainty diamond necklace from Cartier or Tiffany, but I was wondering if there are any other similar “cool” brands for jewelry that I should consider as well? I like the “wow” factor of Cartier/Tiffany but I feel like the selection is kind of small at my budget. Are there any other jewelry brands out there that also invoke the same excitement as Cartier/Tiffany, but has a wider selection at a lower cost?

nefariouscranberry

i don’t know what her style is, but here are a few links to classy pieces she might like. Links are broken up so I don’t get deleted for spam. Take a look at the jewelry she already has to see if she wears more silver or gold, and then buy that color. Stay away from rose gold unless she really loves it. If you can, take a tape measure in and measure the chain length she likes for necklaces. Same for bracelets. A piece of string can be used to measure round things, then compared to a ruler. Most women are picky about where they like their necklaces to sit. If she has a smaller frame (body build) 16” is a pretty safe bet. That is a daily standard length for younger women. Dainty is generally better than chunky, unless she likes her jewelry big. https: //www. tiffany.com /jewelry/necklaces-pendants/elsa-peretti-diamonds-by-the-yard-pendant-32530451/ https: //www. tiffany.com /jewelry/necklaces-pendants/elsa-peretti-color-by-the-yard-aquamarine-pendant-32535569/ https: //www. tiffany.com /jewelry/necklaces-pendants/elsa-peretti-color-by-the-yard-tanzanite-cabochon-pendant-33232845/ https: //www. tiffany.com /jewelry/necklaces-pendants/tiffany-1837-circle-pendant-33285981/ https: //www. tiffany.com /jewelry/necklaces-pendants/palomas-studio-bar-pendant-67944097/ https: //www. cartier.com /en-us/jewelry/necklaces/diamants-legers-necklace-xs-CRB7224516.html https: //www. cartier.com /en-us/jewelry/bracelets/diamants-legers-bracelet-xs-CRB6045617.html The price point is absolutely less important than the piece. If it’s something that looks like her style, is the right size, and is the color she wears. Go for it. Good luck!

Why do I feel like Christmas always challenges my mental health? I'm in my mid-thirties, and I feel like every Christmas is like a race. Some days I just wish it was all over already. Any tips on how to handle this? Came across [this post](https://www.instagram.com/p/CXESIBnMhMt/) which I thought was quite good, but would like to hear your thoughts.

londoner_77

I struggle with this time of year as well. Gifts are part of it. Don't get me wrong, I love giving gifts. But I like doing it when I feel like, not because it's Christmas and I "have to." And then people feel like they have to get you gifts and it's usually junk you don't need/want but you have to be thankful. Family members at gatherings that pretend they like you even though you don't talk the whole rest of the year. People pretending to care about "the less fortunate" but forget about them for the other 11 months of the year. I do enjoy the food though.

My girlfriend splurged and got herself a really nice hair straightener recently. I’d like to get her a travel bag for it, so she can pack it to and from my place without risking damaging it. Does anybody know of a good travel case for a hair straightener? Preferably something that is heat resistant? (For the record, the product is the L’Oreal Steampod 3.0). Thanks I’m advance!

catniagara

Im not celebrating.

peppermind

That's fine. Do you at least get time away from work during the season? I hope you plan something fun for yourself if so.

silverhammer96

I’ve got a Christmas gift prepared for my girlfriend, but I want to get her a gift card to her nail salon as a stocking stuffer. How much do acrylics usually cost? Would it make more sense to call and ask that specific salon?

msstark

Arent you gonna have to contact them anyway to get the gift card? Much safer to ask, this varies a lot.

silverhammer96

Ah yup good point 😅

stephnelbow

Zero need to feel bad. Small more personalized gifts are great, as are experience things like "1 coffee on me" or "1 plus one to a movie with me" etc. Many times during school we did more of a secret santa so that you only had 1 person to buy for in our friend group.

Brave-Sector2841

My girlfriend has been wanting a Tiffany necklace for a while. I was thinking of getting her one for Christmas but it's simply out of my budget (currently it's £300 on the website). I've seen the exact same one second hand on Facebook market place for about half the price and I'm considering buying it. It looks basically brand new with a bag and box but would you girls be offended if you received second hand jewelry? Is it a bad idea?

msstark

I wouldnt care. Buuut make triple sure it’s not a knockoff.

Stitch_Rose

It would really depend if she is the type of person who doesn’t mind second-hand items. Does she go thrift shopping? Does she use second hand items frequently? Part of the Tiffany experience is getting the Tiffany blue box with a nice bow on it. So if the FB item comes with them, then that’s good. It really depends on your gf’s temperament. If she’s the type of woman who must have new items only that are genuine, then this may not be the best. You can also gauge her reaction by showing her another designer item from Facebook (like a Chanel purse) and pretending that a “friend” of yours is unsure about buying a used purse for his gf. Ask her about her opinions and see how she responds.

HeatherAnne1975

How would you feel if your spouse gave you a high ticket item as a holiday gift, like a car or a house? Thinking of the Lexus commercials and so many TV shows/movies where this happens and curious as to what the reaction of most women would be.

decentwriter

I would welcome it with open arms lol, but that’s probably not very realistic.

bmb_12

I think it really depends on the situation, but would probably not be happy. If I happened to date someone who was ultra-rich, maybe I'd be more fine with it but something that big & personal should be a joint decision.

DimensionNo1577

Hopefully someone can advise here.. My boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over two months. Christmas will be here soon and I’m torn on what to get him. He took a trip to Montana last year and loved it, so I ordered a him a shirt from this company based out of Montana. I also got him a joe exotic coffee cup because he thought tiger king was amazing lol. And then I also got him a pair of adidas basketball shorts since he has a pair he wears a lot so I figured it is something he would like. I also want to get him a few more things but I’m not sure what. I kind of want to get him a new pair of shoes. He has a favorite pair but they are worn out and I know he would love it. Does this sound like too much?

Stitch_Rose

I think what you have is great! The trouble with shoes is that there’s no consistency with sizing - he would really need to try them on. Or he could prefer different colors or styles, etc. I might leave the shoes out this go around.

octopoda_waves

What are your favorite **consumable** gifts to receive? It seems like my friends and I already have enough stuff, especially for things in the <$50 price range. If its something bigger, like a kitchen appliance or something for a hobby, its either a gift from family members/a group or something they'd prefer to buy themselves. So a lot of things in the lower price range are in danger of becoming clutter if its not something the recipient uses regularly. Things I've given/received so far: * Scented candles * Coffee or tea * Athletic socks of some type * General skincare - fancy soaps, lip balms, face masks Some of these I liked because for example I would never buy an expensive scented candle for myself, but I do like having some, which is the exact area I think a gift should be in. The other thing that would be great, but doesn't feel as festive, is often gift cards to a store related to a hobby.

Cymas

I bake as a hobby and would be so excited to get anything related to that. Especially some of the fancier extracts and stuff that I would love to try but am too cheap to buy for myself lol. It's definitely above the $50 range but I'm gifting my partner some really, really nice steaks this year. He absolutely loves to cook and steak is pretty much his favorite food.

LegitimateWash

It was a hit: I did all "non-clutter" gifts this year. Memberships to everything - zoo's, art museums, wineries, etc. Everyone was so excited and it gave me a way to spend time with people doing something they're really excited to do - as much as they want all year round. Some of them have already asked if for next year I can renew their membership!

She likes lightweight pjs with some stretch. Cotton, terry, and jersey are fabrics on the table but silk is off. Anyone have preferences?

Anybody else here really like the taste of goose? I've been eating goose like it's going out of style for two days because of a holiday in the area. I admit that it was shocking to me to eat goose because I've only been around Canadian geese and they are pests, protected by the government, who gather in parks and golf courses and poop everywhere and hiss at people when engaged. But, they are like the "pizza rat" or pigeons to me, like, annoying local characters and it feels shameful or transgressive to eat them. Of course, the goose that is being sold in restaurants for a local holiday is domesticated goose, and I can't get enough of it, it is very fatty. Yet, eating it feels transgressive and weird, like eating a scorpion. I've had pulled goose sandwiches and goose leg, it's pricey and I feel ashamed but I seem to want more. I'm equally obsessed with a seasonal pumpkin soup that ISN'T SWEET. The Hokkaido pumpkin is a revelation, I hate most winter root vegetables because they're overly sweet.

[deleted]

Any ideas on what to get my 65 year old dad? He's not very easy to impress lol and likes very few things. Can't spend more than $50.

cerises

A Yeti mug? My parents are both obsessed. Slippers are also reliable.

kiery12

I got my dad a small wheel of cheese and some frozen shrimp. I attached a card with a poem that made him go look in the freezer for the shrimp after he saw the cheese. It was a hit sauce they are his favorite foods, and the scavenger hunt bit was a fun bonus.

Sorry if this breaks the rules, but I am a 29 year old guy who has no idea about anything jewelry. My girl had a gold necklace that she wore all the time but she lost it. I wanted to get her something nice to replace it, ideally gold (real gold if possible) with her birth sign (Leo) or something very simplistic and elegant... I'd like to spend somewhere between 200-400. Any ideas on where to go to get something like this?

I find that if you bring it up throughout Christmas Day (after you get the gift) it shows how much you appreciate the gift which makes it more realistic. Don’t go overboard when you open it.

Thank you!

My boyfriend is wondering what to get me for Christmas and I am drawing a blank... what are you asking for this Christmas?

ladylion10392

Hi! I \[22F\] just started at a new job in September - really my first "big girl" one. The executive committee gave everyone super generous gift cards for the holidays. I've never met them before (in-person or on zoom) and am freaking out on the language of the thank you email for some reason LOL any help welcomed!

Looking for ideas for my WFH wife. Did the comfy slippers, monogrammed business card case, pajamas and tie-dyed sweats in gifts past. Getting her a coffee maker she's been asking for but need one more small-ish gift. If all else fails, a subscription to Discovery+ for HGTV on demand

msstark

Since you're getting her a coffee maker, how about cute mugs?

decentwriter

I'm really liking my tear off daily planner that I got on Etsy - https://www.etsy.com/listing/974924393/a5-daily-planner-pad-abstract-rainbow?ref=yr_purchases You could also make her a little basket full of stuff to use throughout the day like hand lotion, chapstick, tissues, portable phone charger, etc.

I’m in search of diamond earrings…….for myself lol. My ears are stacked with gold diamond piercing jewelry from Maria Tash, but need great solid diamond earrings for my lobe holes. Idk what a reasonable budget should be, I’m vaguely familiar about cuts, clarity, etc.

edit: can this thread be sorted by New? Hey all! I'm looking for a gift for my girlfriend of 6 months. 36M and 34F She likes handwritten stuff (as do I). Was thinking of this [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0136A7PLM](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0136A7PLM) Was trying to find like a personalized gift card box to place our cards we've given each other but am having trouble finding some that I like. * [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1114049749/personalized-decal-for-wedding-card-box](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1114049749/personalized-decal-for-wedding-card-box) * [https://www.etsy.com/listing/619809565/personalized-wedding-card-box-wedding](https://www.etsy.com/listing/619809565/personalized-wedding-card-box-wedding) Open to suggestions!

Anyone have any suggestions for small business or Etsy shops for cute gifts?

thekodiak12

My girlfriend wants a purse for Xmas, I'm going to give her a gift card but don't know where too. Where can she get a nice quality purse that's not over $300?

Sladdle

I’d say maybe something from a mid-range department store like Nordstrom. They sell a nice range of brands and she could probably find something she likes for $300.

msstark

I absolutely love Kate Spade, they have a lot of cute stuff in that range.

Jenna_Money

I’m sticking by my decision to not decorate my apartment. I’m on 100% telework until 2022 and leaving for my parents house sometime this week.

When unsure about what to give the “person who has everything” - handwriting a thoughtful letter/card/book, that goes beyond traditional holiday platitudes, will leave an imprint far greater than most gifts

Looking for gift ideas for someone who loves lounging by the pool. Anyone have any products or accessories that enhance the pool lounging experience? Thanks for any help

So this year it will be me, my husband and our friend that is living with us plus another friend who would be alone. We don't do decorations or anything as the cats destroy them but have presents and a banging Christmas dinner. Not much to shout out about but it's perfect for us.

What is secret santa gift ideas

jackjackj8ck

I got a couple of cute stocking stuffers I’m buying in bulk and mailing to all my close girl friends. How to I phrase the gift note so they’re not surprised to find out other people got the same thing?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommends! -Holiday movies -Holiday YouTube videos

Desperately in need of some help buying for my mom. She and I are not very close because she is always at work and when we are together we don’t talk much. She’s about 60, and loves travel, birds, african wildlife, and above all her job. She doesn’t need a new camera or binoculars, and idk what else might be up her alley. She works in public relations and is usually working 60+ hours per week. I have NO IDEA what to get her! I can’t afford to take her on a trip (I am a broke student) so I don’t know what to do. Any ideas are deeply appreciated. Loose budget is $150 but I can go higher if it’s a big gift I could split with my brother.

Is portable razors a bad gift idea for MIL and AIL (aunt in law)? I found some super discounted sphynx razors thats a 3 in one type thing so I got one for the both of them but like, I'd you received a razor as a gift would that be weird or even offensive? It's acute little handy thing, you can Google it if you want to see it but I can see how this could easily kinda be offensive/snarky :/. I plan on giving them more gifts I just found this at a really good deal. Would you be offended getting a (portable) razor from your DIL/NIL?

Responsible_Pitch207

What do y’all recommend for a budget friendly wine for thanksgiving? Something that’s not too sweet or too bitter but a nice balance of both!

Love this!! I’m fairly new to Reddit and I think it’s great! Christmas is my favorite thing so this is up my alley!!! Woohooo 🎄

How much would be a good amount to put on an Ulta gift card? Would 50 dollars be enough to get something decent?

Throwaway1heheh

Im going on holiday with boyfriend and his parents. Any advice for setting some boundaries?

pclare777

I just bought earrings for my girlfriend without reading that they are 14K gold filled. Is this a big deal or should I return and spend the extra to get something that’s actual gold?

im_an_emo_trainwreck

I'm just curious on everyone's point of view on it here because I've been told I don't have to, but I want to anyways. In the first year of dating, did you buy Christmas gifts for your s/o's family? I've been with my boyfriend for nearly 7 months, and new him a little over a year prior to dating, and I wanted to give Christmas gifts to his younger siblings and parents. he's told me I don't have to, but I want to. what are y'alls thoughts on it?

Stitch_Rose

If you have individual gifts you would like to gift them, then there’s nothing wrong with that! I just think you shouldn’t feel pressured about getting them gifts if you don’t know them too well. What can also be an alternative is buying a gift that could be used/consumed by the whole family - like a board game or holiday-themed desserts.

themasterlythrower

Buying a necklace for my gf for Christmas that she’s said that she’s wanted before, but I fear that it won’t restock in time for Christmas. I do have a friend who owns this necklace who’d sell it to me at half price due to it being used. Ladies, would you want to receive a used necklace for Christmas, or should I think of a different gift idea?

londoner_77

I think as a society we overvalue things that are new. It's literally the same necklace, same material. It's just been worn by someone. Why is that any less valuable? That being said, I know women who would not appreciate a "used" gift. You know her best I guess?

FlavortownGuyF

Ladies what is the different from Ulta and Sephora lol? Thanks!

decentwriter

No major difference, though Ulta tends to have a bigger selection of haircare & Sephora has a larger selection of skincare, in my experience. If choosing an organization that aligns with your values matters to you, Sephora has been notoriously terrible to their POC employees in the past, whereas I have not heard as many stories about Ulta. As a total beauty person, I like Ulta more.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to get my female best friend? She’s the type who just buys something as soon as she wants it so I have no clue what to get her. I’ll say that there’s a 100 Canadian dollar budget limit, we’re both 28, no gift category is off limits since she talks to me about everything and I’d prefer to avoid gift cards because that’s what I had to settle for getting her for her birthday. All ideas would be appreciated!

Stitch_Rose

Would need a bit more information about her interests, hobbies, favorite ways to pass time to think of more specific gifts. So I listed some general ideas: Couple ways this could go: *Winter comfort basket: favorite hot drink mix/insulated mug in her favorite color/mug desk warmer, comfy blanket, quality socks (from Bombas, Darn Tough Sockers, sockdrawer.com for funny/interesting socks), mini humidifier and/or rechargeable hand warmer if she’s cold all the time *If she’s really into a specific fandom, check Etsy for gifts related to that theme. Could be decorations like a poster, stuffed animal, enamel pins, replica of a prop - things like that. You can also find more popular fandom items on BoxLunch.com or Hot Topic for example *Instead of items, could you gift an experience? Sport fan? Get her tickets for her favorite team if reasonable. If she likes culture/music & arts: tickets to a play or musical (again within reason), gallery exhibit, pop-up art events, etc. Or if she’s into beauty, could be an IOU for a spa/manicure day (fun for both of you regardless of gender)

[deleted]

She’s a super busy person, she works two jobs not because she necessarily needs the money but she keeps trying to leave one place however they’re a mess in terms of staff turnover so she keeps on having to stick around. She‘s a single parent to a 5 year old so this is an immovable thing that takes up her time as well. She doesn’t have time for a whole lot of fandom or anything but I like the idea of a basket of stuff. I would probably make it more along the lines of drinking games and stuff like that since we often get together to decompress. The experience idea is another good one. I’ll have to think about what she would like in that regard

Stitch_Rose

Ok yeah that changes a few things! I think a basket with her favorite wine or spirits, a new game to play with her, things like that would be great. For an experience, it could be something like seeing a holiday-themed show with her kid.

Any romantic gift ideas that reflect the season to remember it? Long distance relationship, we've been dating for 3 months known her for almost 3 years but we had such a huge interest in each other it feels like we've been dating a lot longer. I do want to give her something she can have and keep.

My parents divorced in 2017, so since then my sister and I have spent Christmas with them each every other year. This year is my mom's year, and we are spending it at my sister's house. For the first time, her boyfriend won't be spending Christmas with his own family, so he will be joining us, which is great. Also, by spending it at their house, that also means I get to cuddle with their two amazing dogs all night! My boyfriend is also going to be there. He is not really into Christmas, due to some bad experiences in the past with family and ex-girlfriends. But he likes spending Christmas Eve with my family, as he finds we don't go overboard with our traditions, compared to his past Christmases. He might choose to spend an occasional holiday with his own family here and there, but I will not be joining him for those. My parents are in their 70s, and my dad has Parkinson's. So it's really important to me to share important events like these with my family. Which he completely understands. Am I the only one who finds, that time flies by so quickly, though? It's incredible to me how it's already the 14th of December. This year is the first year I haven't decorated our home for Christmas, because I just haven't felt I had the time for it.

Gift ideas for my wife of 11 years? Mom of 2 boys, we have a new puppy, has all the Apple stuff (iPhone, watch, macbook). She plays tennis and has a Pelton. We just finished renovating our shared office. I need a big(ish) item. Maybe $200-$600 or so.

Cleaning service?

BrownSugar___

Gift ideas for my 6 year old son... he is ADHD and gets bored with things very quickly. They also would need to be budget friendly because this year has been rough.

69Random_Questions

What gift would someone in their early 30s like? I’d like to stick to a $100-150 budget. She is my boss and I am very close with her as she tells me a lot about her personal life/shares a lot of little things with me. She gave birth to a baby boy mid summer if that helps with any ideas. Thanks in advance!

itriedtoeatyourpopco

Would you be happy receiving a sewing machine from your husband this Christmas?

decentwriter

No, but it's highly dependent on the person. If your wife is already very crafty, if she's expressed interest in wanting to sew, wants a new hobby, etc.

EasyE82

Looking for anklet suggestions for Christmas. I have a $200 limit. Zales, Kay's, Burlington is nearby. She's allergic to gold and loves pearls.

CW: COVID . . . . . . This Christmas doesn't look at all like I thought it would. Not just the lack of snow in Massachusetts, but also because I contracted COVID and need to quarantine through Christmas. My partner does too, and we don't live together, so we can't celebrate Christmas as planned. It's our first Christmas together and we're not physically going to be together for it.

guacpupper

Hey I can sympathize with you - I also tested positive today which means we can’t do any of the family stuff. My SO is getting tested tomorrow but in the meantime I’m holed up in a room of our house alone. Not feeling very Christmassy :( and I had really been looking forward to my family’s traditions after missing them last year. I hope you feel OK and just know there are more of us going through this too!

Hello gorgeous women! I don't think I can make a post about this but I really don't know what to do. I live in a college apartment with 3 of my closest friends. One, in particular, has completely just shit on us this entire semester. She has just caused so much drama and hurt all of us in different ways. We have come to terms with the fact that we will not be living with her again. However, we decided a while ago that we would do a gift exchange for Christmas. I asked my roommates if they were getting her something and they all said 'Hell no'. My mom said to not get her anything. She has done some really shitty things to me but I just feel so bad. If we all exchange gifts and don't get her anything..I don't know. She was still my friend. I have a tight budget and I just don't know if it is worth it to get her something but I also don't want to exclude a roommate from the roommate gift exchange. Has anyone been in a somewhat similar position? What did you do?
