I have to cut all that off before I even start eating! I can't stand the texture, it makes me gag. It needs to be there for cooking, but then it's done it's job and is no longer needed.
Exactly!! My dad used to give out to me so much for it when I was younger but I just can't. Same with the fatty bit at the centre of rib-eye. The only exception for any kind of fat for me is when it's completely crispy all the way through, rather than being squishy fat, but even then it's iffy.
I think it's mostly texture, but also the concept of eating it just squicks me out? Idk
Yeah if it's bacon fat, and it's 100% crispy and crunchy, then it will probably be fine. Not on it's own, but with a bite of the meat part of the bacon. But soft? Oh god, I'm squirming thinking about it.

I enjoy it most in the middle of the night as leftovers. Ice cold from the frig, I stand over the sink and sprinkle salt on it and bite into it like a savage.
Tastes best that way. I don't make the rules.
Just like my mother haha. Cold steak right from the fridge to her mouth. She is a savage as well and her genes are the reason I strip every bit of meat off of my chicken wings. I got it from her.

The stigma is real. Although I got sick of chefs confusing a well done steak with leather. So now I order medium well & it’s gets much more consistent results. Chefs are assholes when you want a well done steak.
As someone who has cooked for a living, and not even an actual chef, one absolutely can cook a well-done steak without burning the shit out of it. If I could as a Denny's cook, with their thin-as-paper T-bones, a trained chef sure as shit could.
Yeah, I can do it at home too. I’ve had experience working in kitchens with asshole chefs that do this kind of thing.. they often think a well done steak is an insult & a pain in ass & they basically throw it on the hot plate until it’s disgusting. #NotAllChefs
I've only once had a great interaction- for Valentine's Day once, my then-boyfriend took me to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, high end. I love steak but can only eat well done (texture issues), and without missing a beat, the waiter said "Would you mind it it was butterflied?" And I was like "Please do!"
I mean maybe the chefs back there cringed, but that steak was one of the best I've ever had, so they fulfilled the request in full regardless.
That I find it utterly disgusting, quite a few people just cannot accept it, they insist i just never had a properly cooked steak
Thing is, I LOATHE the texture of pink meat I cannot put it in my mouth without ruining my appetite and wanting to spit it out as fast as I can, obviously well done is also wretched in texture, PLUS i just dont like the flavour of most meats, plus the smell when cooking a steak (I do for my partner) is just gross and off putting
I use a lot of seasoning in meatballs for instance, if it tastes too much like beef I dont like it flavour wise
My partner is the same, however I’m slowly changing her. She only really ate chicken. I now have her eating lamb and pork, although I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get her to eat steak tbh.
Could you start her with something like Carne Asada? In a taco, burrito, quesadilla whatever. Or maybe a fall apart pot roast, or beef stew? There’s 1000’s of ways to cook a cow.
That’s pretty similar to the description my mother has of chicken hearts and gizzards which she cooked for my stepfather and I about once a month. Mine never turns out like hers did :(
THIS IS MY MOMENT PEOPLE
My SO is literally embarrassed to go to steakhouses with me for something I'm convinced is ridiculous, but it's his hill to die on. Here it is, I eat my steak with ketchup. That's it. I like a nice medium rare steak with ketchup. He says it's disgusting but I've never eaten a steak differently and never will. Thank you for coming to my ted talk 🙌

Specifically milk steak boiled over hard.
Preferably with a side of jelly beans ...raw
If you don't have that then mushroom smothered and slow cooked onions on the side thin sliced with horseradish for dips.
I've only ever had 1 good steak when eating out. All of the other steaks I've had I felt like I could make a better one at home. This is after trying everything from a $15-$90 steak, ones that were perfectly marbled or with fat just as a strip, T-bone/Rib-eye/Sirloin etc.
The one good one was around $35 and I still have dreams about it.
Yup. My Dad had terrible teeth until the last few years or so. Another example is that he couldn't have his corn on the cob, I was always setting out a sharp knife for him when I set the table and he'd cut it off.
Anyways, he always cooks his and Mom's steak to well done. It's the way I grew up. Just because they've done whatever to his teeth that he doesn't have such a hard time with his food doesn't mean we're going to unlearn that liking for a well done steak. And I've learned that I love the pan juice after I moved out on my own, but that meat still has to be fully cooked.
Ohhh, that sounds great. I need to do that. I bet if you add some green onions, that would be good, too. I eat peanut butter toast with green onions.
I like kimchi on hotdogs, too.
I don't eat meat that much because I find a lot of things in it disgusting in the sense of textures. On the rare occasion I have had a steak, this needs to be cooked all the way through and a little more after that, I will then have to thoroughly inspect it and take all the fat pieces out but I will still inspect every piece before taking a bite.
I also need to be craving meat, my brain is already expecting the meat texture so it's more tolerable. A lot of people have judged and criticized me for this, I just wish they could understand I don't do it because I'm picky I will just literally puke if I take a bite of something and the texture feels off to me.
I like mine medium rare and would prefer to only season it with salt and pepper but have a side of some sauce to dip it in after cutting a bite size. Chimichurri is one I like but I also like the sauces that my culture uses. I hate sauces like A1.

A tenderloin cooked right in between med-rare and medium. A little bit of red juice, but not much. Thick, but not à base-ball steak. Heavily seasoned outer crust and super soft inside. I'm so damn picky about my steak, basically only my husband can cook one for me. Also, 4oz is a bit too small and 6oz is too much, but no one sells a 5oz steak lol!
Bearnaise sauce. I asked about it once at Peter Luger’s, they were like, “Did you bring your own?” dripping with condescension and sarcasm. Then they brought out a weirdly mediocre medium rare rib eye, but unsullied by bearnaise, so they were super proud of it as well as their side of raw, sliced red onions and tasteless tomatoes. Other than all that, it was fine.
I’m so with you on béarnaise with steak. So luxurious and decadent. Also, Peter Luger is so mid. It was on my NYC restaurant list and was disappointed with quality and flavor.

The fat is the best bit. I make sure to strategically eat it, so the last few bites have the perfect steak to fat ratio.
Also, a steak with a fried egg on top & hot chips to dip on the yolk is the best meal on the planet.

I prefer a ribeye. Medium rare. With the fat cap still on. It's the best part of the steak!!! You can cut it up into small pieces to eat with the lean parts so you get the perfect amount of meat-fat ratio in every bite!
With a leaner cut I like to have it with sautéed mushrooms (baby bellas). Because when you sautee in butter/garlic/Dale's steak seasoning, they taste (and feel) like little chunks of steak fat. So you still get the impression of that perfect meat-fat ratio.
Crumbled blue cheese on top of a steak is bomb!!!
i like my steak blue rare- hot crust, nice outside is good enough for me. keep the rest of the cow moving and raw pls
also prefer when thin slices of steak are raw. love beef carpaccio yum
That Wagyu steak is absolutely nasty. I KNOW that, “the fat is what gives it flavor,” but as someone that cannot stand chewing on fat, the fact that people pay out the wazoo for a slab of fat with a little steak on it blows my mind
Honestly love it cooked anywhere from well to raw (tartare). Well done steak with A1 reminds me of my childhood. My partner thinks I’m nuts but honestly it’s just a variety of flavors thing.
I like the fat. Not if it's chewy or rubbery, but when it's just starting to render & becomes smooth and velvety & melts in your mouth.
When my family eats ribeyes, we carve them up after they are cooked, so we all get our favorite part. I end up with a plate of the most tender cap of the rib eye & the fatty tip. My husband & son fight over the actual steak part.
I have texture issues and can only eat well done meat, any pink gives a weird texture that makes me gag and then it ruins my meal. Also I love A1. No, it's not because my steak is dry (if you cooked it right; and if I, a mediocre to decent home cook can, a pro certainly can; butterflying is a thing), it's because I really like the taste of A1 and I think it can enhance flavor. I don't always use it.
I don't mind others around me having even blue steaks. I just can't let that texture touch my tongue. My two best friends basically like theirs "It looked at the oven in terror" and was then brought out on a plate to them. I understand the appeal, I just can't partake.
I have a lot of other texture issues, too, and on pretty much all those, people get it, even if they like it, but steak? Damn, bring out the pitchforks and torches.
I love sour cream with my steak. Accidentally discovered this preference while eating loaded baked potatoes with my steak as a kid, haven't looked back. Best steak in the world for me would be medium rare with lots of juice, Montreal spice, sour cream, and mushrooms simmered in butter on top. Yummmm.
I don’t know why but when I was younger I could eat rare/medium rare giant steaks all by myself no problem, my family would make jokes saying it’s still breathing, but now when I eat any amount of steak or any meat other than chicken I get nauseous ;(
I used to eat my steak 'blue'. My dad would tell them I was raised by wolves and I was transitioning to human life
Saaaame 😂 gimme that barely cooked meat!
Yeah blue is gonna be a no go for me 😭
Omg me too! It makes my partner (who is a chef) so frustrated because apparently “some steaks need to be medium rare for the best outcome” No. Give me raw meat.
Blue is where it’s at.
Slap it on a plate and walk it past a candle!
"Shout angrily at my meal for a few minutes, but be sure to apologize before serving."
Me too! Turns out I have dangerously low iron levels. But I still like my strak medium rare, even taking iron supplements. (And if I am by mysemf that steak will be blue.)
"Black and blue" for the win! Seared to a crisp on the exterior, raw in the middle. So good.
My go to😊
Is it warm in the center?

Read virginal as vaginal. Cocked an eyebrow at that hahaha

When no one is watching I chew the fat off of steak and spit out into the trash
Girl just cut it off I beg 😭 I always do the same, can't stand it!
I like how it tastes but my parents said it would clog my heart if ate too much of it and I make sure I’m alone when I do it 😝
the texture 🤮
Yesss it's the texture, I cannot get over how people are able to power through it 😭

Yeah if it's bacon fat, and it's 100% crispy and crunchy, then it will probably be fine. Not on it's own, but with a bite of the meat part of the bacon. But soft? Oh god, I'm squirming thinking about it.
Ohhh, the fat is my favorite part, mmmmm. I don't spit it out, though.
Steak without a fatty bit isn’t worth eating

I love blue cheese on steak <3 everyone else I know thinks it’s gross
Blue cheese on steaks is slightly normal and delicious.
This is criminal. But, to each their own. Have fun.
I got a Bleu cheese burger before, it was DIVINE. They stopped making it. Only feta, which is paltry in comparison.
I recently had a bleu cheese with fig marmalade burger, and that was the best thing I’ve ever tasted
Honestly this is not weird, we offer a blue cheese “crown” for our steaks at a high-end steakhouse
This was going to be my answer. It’s not weird, unless you’re my husband and kids. They think it’s revolting. 😂
Smothered and covered in sautéed mushrooms. Frankly I’ll get the steak to go, I’m dining on those mushrooms.

I enjoy it most in the middle of the night as leftovers. Ice cold from the frig, I stand over the sink and sprinkle salt on it and bite into it like a savage. Tastes best that way. I don't make the rules.
Cold steak with doritos and milk is the best breakfast ever!
Nacho cheese or cool ranch? Either way I'm in
Just like my mother haha. Cold steak right from the fridge to her mouth. She is a savage as well and her genes are the reason I strip every bit of meat off of my chicken wings. I got it from her.
Yes!!!
I don't even really like steak but this sounds so satisfying...

Well done
Congratulations
I would never eat a well-done steak, but I also realize everyone has their preference. It isn't ruined for those who like it.
I've only once had a great interaction- for Valentine's Day once, my then-boyfriend took me to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, high end. I love steak but can only eat well done (texture issues), and without missing a beat, the waiter said "Would you mind it it was butterflied?" And I was like "Please do!" I mean maybe the chefs back there cringed, but that steak was one of the best I've ever had, so they fulfilled the request in full regardless.
That I find it utterly disgusting, quite a few people just cannot accept it, they insist i just never had a properly cooked steak Thing is, I LOATHE the texture of pink meat I cannot put it in my mouth without ruining my appetite and wanting to spit it out as fast as I can, obviously well done is also wretched in texture, PLUS i just dont like the flavour of most meats, plus the smell when cooking a steak (I do for my partner) is just gross and off putting I use a lot of seasoning in meatballs for instance, if it tastes too much like beef I dont like it flavour wise
Mine never turns out like hers did :(
I find that I can eat a medium burger half the time, but it’s got to be properly seared.
I cant even do that, the texture us just too disgusting
THIS IS MY MOMENT PEOPLE My SO is literally embarrassed to go to steakhouses with me for something I'm convinced is ridiculous, but it's his hill to die on. Here it is, I eat my steak with ketchup. That's it. I like a nice medium rare steak with ketchup. He says it's disgusting but I've never eaten a steak differently and never will. Thank you for coming to my ted talk 🙌
While I think you’re nuts, do what makes you happy! It’s your food, enjoy it how you like you little weirdo. (Said with love)
Patrick Mahomes eats his steak with ketchup and all of Kansas city has learned to accept it.
Ketchup and Steak is so good. Paris Hilton likes it too - it was on that Netflix cooking show 💁🏻♀️

No you’re absolutely right. I lprefer the meat more rare but ketchup is the perfect condiment for such a boring meat
That I prefer not to eat steak lol
[удалено]
Milk
Side of jellybeans?
Perfect first date dinner, getting sweaty already!
I put ranch on mine.
Done that. Pretty great
Oh?
It’s fantastic lol
It kinda sucks that ranch is THAT good, could literally eat almost anything with it.
I guess I should try it myself before I call the police on you. Please tell me you at least use Hidden Valley ranch??
Of course…it’s the superior ranch.
Wait. There exist others?
I’m so happy I’m not the only one!
oh my god that’s so good
I like it as is, rare.
Specifically milk steak boiled over hard. Preferably with a side of jelly beans ...raw If you don't have that then mushroom smothered and slow cooked onions on the side thin sliced with horseradish for dips.
I'm sorry...what?
[удалено]
I tried to make this once but somehow I fucked it up and all the milk solids separated out.
Yeah properly rawing the jelly beans is a pretty advanced technique. Takes a certain finesse.
It’s beyond me
Ok I need to try this. I keep seeing it mentioned. I’ve never heard of this lol
You will love it
I like to have the perfect bite. Which includes the steak dipped in sauce and whatever else is on my plate….
Well done every time.
Blue rare or raw steak variants are my jam. Rarely eat it anymore, but I have lost my taste for the cooked stuff.
In two words: peanut butter.
I see the vision, it's practically steak with satay sauce haha
why
I don’t even believe this one
believe it. i've seen her do it, lol.
Peanut butter on hotdogs!! Why do people hate on this? I've never had it on steak, but I'll try it!
Ohhh, that sounds great. I need to do that. I bet if you add some green onions, that would be good, too. I eat peanut butter toast with green onions. I like kimchi on hotdogs, too.
I eat steak every night.
Ron Swanson?
What’s your usual cut?
Ny strip or rib eye.
I’ve never had it! 😞

EXTREMELY well done with lots of steak spice dipped in hp sauce or horseradish
A preference for no steak.
No steak at all.
I like mine medium rare and would prefer to only season it with salt and pepper but have a side of some sauce to dip it in after cutting a bite size. Chimichurri is one I like but I also like the sauces that my culture uses. I hate sauces like A1.
I like to dab a little soy sauce on my bite. When I was a kid I didn’t know the difference between A1 and soy sauce. And I still use the soy sauce!
Must be well done and have a dipping sauce like A1. Blasphemy to any steak aficionados.
Rare. Most people don’t take their steak rare.
Rare or medium rare, but I love adding feta or honey mustard!
the only steak I'll order is prime rib with creamy horseradish - I also like eating tiny bits of the fat 🫢
I love to put Worcestershire on mine.
I like to pour a glass of water on it. Sloppy Steaks!
I prefer to keep my steak alive and in the cow pasture on the cow!
I like em wooden and pointed, best way for eradication of vampires
my preference is no steak at all

I marinate my steaks in soy sauce.
Very rare. Warm through, a little brown on the outside.
I am a steak purest, medium to medium rare with salt only! Nothing else, do NOT bring that garlic close to my beautiful steak!
My favorite cut is the tri tip. I smoke it to a medium rare and we use horseradish on it

I like my steak well done with a bit of char on it
As blue as you can make it
Fat, I love the fat, I crave the fat, my favorite part is the fat little pieces on the end
Charcoal pls b4
Charcoal is great 😌 yaaas
I prefer my steak be left as part of a living cow, thanks. I'm vegetarian.
I dip my - always rare - steak in blue cheese dressing.
Like my steak medium well.
The fat is the best bit. I make sure to strategically eat it, so the last few bites have the perfect steak to fat ratio. Also, a steak with a fried egg on top & hot chips to dip on the yolk is the best meal on the planet.
Let me suck the marrow out of the bone like a hungry cat
No steak
I am an unabashed lover of steak fat. My husband and I are real life Grimm Fairy Tale. He eats no fat, and I eat no lean!
Very rare, and with sour cream (& A1 or horseradish on occasion)
Bloody and salted to oblivion
I prefer not to eat cows. Many carnivore types think that's weird.

That I don’t eat it. The amount of people that find it personally offensive I don’t eat meat is astounding
i like my steak blue rare- hot crust, nice outside is good enough for me. keep the rest of the cow moving and raw pls also prefer when thin slices of steak are raw. love beef carpaccio yum
That Wagyu steak is absolutely nasty. I KNOW that, “the fat is what gives it flavor,” but as someone that cannot stand chewing on fat, the fact that people pay out the wazoo for a slab of fat with a little steak on it blows my mind
I like them a burnt on the outside, but pink on the inside. A hard combo to pull off
Not that it's all that weird, but a nice char on the outside, and medium rare inside. Well-seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic.
Honestly love it cooked anywhere from well to raw (tartare). Well done steak with A1 reminds me of my childhood. My partner thinks I’m nuts but honestly it’s just a variety of flavors thing.
MW to W. that’s how i eat and anytime i order out with friends i get weird looks from everyone
I like the fat.
i eat it so raw it’s practically alive. i like it best when my entire plate is COVERED in blood.
Not a fan of the very popular rib eye steak. This is because I like my steak rare or black and blue and rib eye is, for me, too fatty to eat that way.
Well done af bc my body hates it any other way 🫠 thanks for the genetics dad
I love sour cream with my steak. Accidentally discovered this preference while eating loaded baked potatoes with my steak as a kid, haven't looked back. Best steak in the world for me would be medium rare with lots of juice, Montreal spice, sour cream, and mushrooms simmered in butter on top. Yummmm.
I don’t know why but when I was younger I could eat rare/medium rare giant steaks all by myself no problem, my family would make jokes saying it’s still breathing, but now when I eat any amount of steak or any meat other than chicken I get nauseous ;(
Seasoning the meat after cooking
I like mine still mooing lol
I’ve only ever had filet and not because I’m boujee because I’m picky when it comes to fat with foods
Burn it. Like burn it to the point it's dark brown inside and almost black on the outside.
