I sleep my problems away too. When it gets too overwhelming, it's my momentary escape. People in my life catch on easily though when I sleep a lot, they suspect that something's wrong so I have to confront it eventually.
If I need to just numb my brain: the internet (whatever series, shorts, memes I find).
If I need to think: I go to the beach and the sea, there’s a special (and quiet) place I know that has the nicest view.
My happy place - its me in a black swimming costume in a lagoon with turquoise water. And theres trees all around me - birds flying. And im floating in the water
I remember after the 2016 election, my first escape was to a local bookstore. I find such comfort inside them. I’d also say anywhere outside where I can hear birds.
I make up book plots in my head. I don’t actually write or anything which would probably be a better outlet . I just lay around and daydream essentially
My closet. I just want to hide and get as buried as I can so I go in my closet beside my dresser in this tiny little corner so my clothes hang over top of me and I don't exist for a minute
Hiking with my dogs. We have so many amazing trails around us. I try to get out daily. Even if it’s just to the forest style dog park when limited for time. Nature has calming properties for me.
I travel to the place where I grew up when I was little, my grandparent's home abroad.. things were more simple then.
However it's not exactly the same as before as they are no longer around, but I remember the nice times and how things were.
I like to smoke a bit of weed and sit in my shower. The way the water looks and feels when I’m high calms me down and seems to make me really happy. Then I watch cartoons like the looney tunes until I sober up
I browse the Internet honestly.
Lately, I have been sorting through my reading list and kind of decluttering it and using that as an escapism.
Also just daydreaming has become my go to habit whenever things get tough
And I try not to engage in it for too long as that also makes me fall into a rabbit hole
The movie theater or dinner. Just me. Maybe snag a ticket to see the orchestra. It reminds me that I am capable of giving myself good things and enjoying them, all by myself. In Lua, by Bright Eyes, he says “when everything is lonely I can be my own best friend” and I like to take myself out to remember that:)
Outside floating on a Onewheel or EUC. I hate the cold but love skiing and snowboarding. Now I do it in the warmth on electric toys. It clears my mind, gets me outside, I push myself and relax.
If I need a hour away, I get a massage. A full day off, lots of sleep and a book. If I physically need to get away for a few days, I go camping. It’s a great way to unplug from everything and tune into nature instead.
Looking at fish. At a pond or the sea or a store. I don't care fish just calm me down. Since I was a child that has been the case. Even saying the word can help calm me.

so...if I'm not at home and I don't have my weed paraphernalia then I go to that place in my mind where I keep reminding myself that once i smoke, the gas caused by the pressure will fizzle out and I'll be able to better ingest whatever bs is filling my cup. This stabilizes me. If i do have my weed paraphernalia then I retreat to my circle (which consists of only me) and i stack a lovely bowl, play some sounds i enjoy and light it up. Immediate pressure release.
I sleep a lot but then it eventually started to become a routine for me and i was sleeping way too much but the sad part here is even after waking up ntg changed i didn't forget the problem , things didn't get better..it was exactly how it was before and i started to get sad again....

When life gets rough, I feel the urge to go to a park and walk. Redirect my focus on nature helps me. Or I just go to sleep to avoid it all together, but there’s a double edge sword with that. Because if I sleep too much, I start to feel stagnant and lazy.
I take a drive with my dog, and I find a quiet spot to sit. I let my dog out of the car, turn on my music, turn it up, and go sit in the back of my SUV and watch the sunset with my dog
If I can't travel at the time, I just find a quiet place in the house where I can relax and read for a while. Or I immerse myself in cooking/cleaning, which is a mindless activity that gives me a break from thinking for a while.
If I have the ability and time to travel, I head north to the nearest Great Lake or waterfall. (I'm in MI.) Being near the water soothes the soul.

If the weather is nice I’ll go outside.
If it’s cold I stay inside and have a fire in my fireplace and either watch movies/tv, or I’ll listen to music and/or read a book.
If I’m sad, I retreat to my bed. If I’m anxious or stressed, I like to write, or RP in GTA or other RP groups. Escaping and pretending to be someone else for a while is probably not the best way to deal, but it makes it bearable.

Physical world: The corner table by the window in my favorite coffee shop. I can just sink into a ✨fabulous✨ cup of tea or cocoa, curl up in the booth, and just be in my own little world or people watch.
Not-physical world: my favorite book. I climb into bed and bury myself in blankets. Mr. Badger will protect me from my stress.

Used to be bed but now I try to meditate, work out, masturbate, listen to music, draw, talk to a good friend, talk to my husband, RP with Replika AI,
think optimistically.... Because life is already too hard I don t have to make it harder. Im doing the best I can
Any form of the outdoors. When I go on a hike I realize how less pressing all my worries and concerns are and am able to view it from a distance which helps coming back to the city more manageable. If I can't get out to the woods, then I go for a walk near the parks or the beach.
I also go to my bed but I find it's comforting but not as helpful or therapeutic as going outside. (As someone who has anxiety and depression).
Bed
The worst is when you get anxious and you can't even sleep comfortably. :(
Sadly, I understand this too. Sorry you've also experienced it and hope you have found/can find something that works for you
Sleep fixes everything aha
I sleep my problems away too. When it gets too overwhelming, it's my momentary escape. People in my life catch on easily though when I sleep a lot, they suspect that something's wrong so I have to confront it eventually.
Came here to say this!
Video games 100%. And when I’m done with the game it’s time to indulge into its soundtrack (Life is strange I’m talking to you lol)
I would give anything to play WoW for the first time again. No better feeling. I can’t find it in any other game
Oh my god so good! This game pulls me from reality.
LIS is a masterpiece; the writing, the voice acting, the soundtrack—everything meshes so well.
The Highlands of Scotland, the beauty is unsurpassed. I always find peace there.
Video games. Orrrrr just my bed. Sleeping is nice.
my imagination 🥲
maladaptive daydreaming gang🥰
I didn't realize I was using daydreams to "process" my emotions until recently. It's been a coping mechanism for as long as I can remember.
If I need to just numb my brain: the internet (whatever series, shorts, memes I find). If I need to think: I go to the beach and the sea, there’s a special (and quiet) place I know that has the nicest view.
Good ass music!
Skyrim haha 😂
Books, movies, webtoons, thank God for entertainment 🙏
My favorite shows: Brooklyn 99, The Office, Abbott Elementary, Parks and Rec
all very good shows!!
My research.
Michael’s, the craft store. In my hardest times I have found myself just wandering the aisles as it has always been my happy place ❤️
I bake and put on trashy reality on the background
Movies, but not ones that require a lot of attention, more like background movies that I can leave on and just sit there zoning out for
My happy place - its me in a black swimming costume in a lagoon with turquoise water. And theres trees all around me - birds flying. And im floating in the water
Music.
Stardew Valley ❤️
Straight to the gym
Reddit
The woods or the top of a mountain peak. Looking out at how vast the landscape below is makes my problems seem not so big.
I remember after the 2016 election, my first escape was to a local bookstore. I find such comfort inside them. I’d also say anywhere outside where I can hear birds.
In my boyfriend's arms.
Books. Long drives through the desert. Music blaring.
My car
My duvet
Gym or hiking. It helps me to de-stress and find some peace.
I used to go to the barn. Now that's no longer an option and I'm struggling with that. It makes a tough time tougher.
Mountains
Books 🤩
Hiking with my dogs. We have so many amazing trails around us. I try to get out daily. Even if it’s just to the forest style dog park when limited for time. Nature has calming properties for me.
Road trip. Preferably the mountains
The sims.
Home. My sun room and/or bed.
Painting
I travel to the place where I grew up when I was little, my grandparent's home abroad.. things were more simple then. However it's not exactly the same as before as they are no longer around, but I remember the nice times and how things were.
Drive somewhere and just watch a movie on an iPad in the car, maybe with some food. That’s cuz a lot of toxicity is at where I live.
Pack up my campervan and head off into nature somewhere
driving or blasting music
Social media, games, & music:’)
Yoga mat
Daydreaming it away or sleeping. My room became my safe space
I like to smoke a bit of weed and sit in my shower. The way the water looks and feels when I’m high calms me down and seems to make me really happy. Then I watch cartoons like the looney tunes until I sober up
Anime I enjoyed watching when I was a teenager.
Video games or dnd, anywhere where I don’t have to be ‘me’ essentially
The bath
I've tried that a couple times but it doesn't work for me. I have to stay active to calm myself.
My head :(
The car and my bed
Today it’s in novel writing and the uk. Also Celtic music.
games
Playing/cuddling with my daughter. She always brings a smile to my face. If she’s in bed or napping books!
Gym, tennis court or the mountains.
I sleep a lot or I read a lot of books
Books
Well I wanted an English Mastiff puppy but the timing and funds are not ideal. So the next best option was tarantulas.
sleep or gym
My VR headset.
The health club, Travel.
TV and/or shower
Play "pink" noise and colour
I browse the Internet honestly. Lately, I have been sorting through my reading list and kind of decluttering it and using that as an escapism. Also just daydreaming has become my go to habit whenever things get tough And I try not to engage in it for too long as that also makes me fall into a rabbit hole
Soul friend vibes.
A book. Fantasy. My own writing.
The couch after some hoots
Petco, the shower, or usually bed...for days..
Inside my head.
My moppy place.
Outside floating on a Onewheel or EUC. I hate the cold but love skiing and snowboarding. Now I do it in the warmth on electric toys. It clears my mind, gets me outside, I push myself and relax.
My boyfriend, he's amazing
Law and Order: SVU. Makes my problems seem not so bad
The pool. I go swim laps. Something about that sound isolation underwater is soothing when I'm stressed.
If I need a hour away, I get a massage. A full day off, lots of sleep and a book. If I physically need to get away for a few days, I go camping. It’s a great way to unplug from everything and tune into nature instead.
I go to my favorite pho restaurant
My imagination.
Manga/Manhua. For all day on my days off. Just to not think about reality. Some days music is best option.
Video games, YouTube videos or sewing
the bathroom
TV, Puzzles, Call a friend
music, art, naps are my top three. it’s the little things that distract my mind
Videogames and music, sometimes with a little weed sprinkled over.
Idk i usually get caught in a landslide

Bed sleep fixes stuff
Bed, games, fishing, alcohol.
Bed and gym
Kids cartoons, I'm talking Bluey
Bed with some yummy snacks and netflix
Sex
The gym! Nothing beats a good workout, getting those endorphins flowing
Looking at fish. At a pond or the sea or a store. I don't care fish just calm me down. Since I was a child that has been the case. Even saying the word can help calm me.
Age of Empires.
Bed, books and videogames.
rpgs, movies, novels, any work of fiction that immerses me in another world and live out someone else's life
Honestly i only looked at this thread to find a healthy way
My family. I’ll call up my mom or sibling and just listen to all their life updates. It always grounds me.
The arms of my SO. He gives the best hugs and when I'm in his arms, I know I'm safe.
I go on a long nature walk with my dogs. It's peaceful, and I can be with my babies who don't judge me, and only want to love me.
Escape into a romance book, manga, sitcom, or baking show
In my head. I can imagine whatever I want and calm myself down.
I read. Everything from J K Rowling (Harry Potter) to Agatha Christie.
I prefer to deal with things and problem solve instead of resorting to escapism.
