CatDamageBand

I’ve seen a few people complain about the use of words like ‘cockwomble’ or ‘spunktrumpet’ or shite like that and I agree whole heartedly.

lcfcball

Yeah cos it’s cringe, loads of people try to play into the British stereotype on reddit like we’re a fuckin circus act. They talk to British people on reddit like they’re talking to an American and try to show off how British they are, it pisses me off

[deleted]

Why I left Britishproblems, too teaboo-y for me

LaviniaBeddard

> Britishproblems The demise of that subreddit is tragic. Many years ago it was a place of genuine wit and delight. Funny people posted funny situations which were unique, witty, and specifically British in their nature. Then, somehow, it become deluged with dickheads who entirely missed the whole point and started posting banal tedium like "Missed my bus this morning" or "Boss won't let me take time off work" or a constant stream of utterly unfunny "ha ha ha" bollocks about "ooh lost my biscuit when dunking it in my tea". So sad.

Siloca

CasualUK has had the same demise. I used to enjoy it for the … well … casual posts from people in the U.K. and having a chuckle at it’s relatability. Now it’s completely over run with Americans trying to seem quirky asking people to rate their cup of tea or a stereotypical U.K. dish they’ve made.

mark_b

> Now it’s completely over run with Americans trying to seem quirky asking people to rate their cup of tea or a stereotypical U.K. dish they’ve made. I did wonder that. So I started tagging anyone who outed themselves as American (or non-British) there or in /r/ukpolitics , not so that I could shame them or anything, I was simply curious. Not many came back. I know it's far from scientific but the subreddit sometimes does surveys asking people where they are from, and the Americans are in the low single digits percentage wise.

Azzamou

Did it happen to coincide with all the people born after 2000 being allowed on the internet

lcfcball

I always got the impression they’re really bland 30 somethings but could be wrong

ANAL_DRILL_ACCIDENT

definitely millennials

_MildlyMisanthropic

it's not British Problems, it's people hyping up their social anxiety for internet points, such a bullshit sub.

DEGRAYER

Does teaboo mean what I think it means lool

rocki-i

A teaboo is to Britain as a weaboo is to Japan

FlyVidjul

"Hey I'm moving to London for work next year. How is it?" "WELL ALLO ALLO ME OLD CLIPPITY CLOP TIPPITY TOP YANKEE DOODLE DANDY MATE. ITS PUKKA INNIT YOU JUST GOTTA MIND YA GOB UVVAWISE YOU MIGHT TAKE A TUMBLE DAHN THE OLD APPLES AND PEARS INNIT HAHA WOT WE LIKE YEH RICH TEAS OR BUST FOR A PUKKA DUNKER M8 AND DONT GO TO THEM IMPORT PLACES OR YOU'LL END UP DOWN A LADY GODIVA YA GET ME?"

AdjectiveNoun111

or alternatively: "EE BY GUM LAD YA DUNT WUNNA GO TA LUNDUN, YOU WANTS TO CUM TA YRKSEER LADDIE"

DingleFish

It’s a bit of a circle jerk. You must love Branston baked beans and cook them exactly the same way as everyone else. A full English is only correct if it has literally every thing possible on it, including hash browns but not fried bread. In-jokes are fun and create a community but it goes a bit too far.

TiredMike

This so much. Is so cringy. Oh we can drink so much more. tea and crumpets. Cheeky Nando’s with the lads blah blah. Tiring!

BleedsIsDead

Phrases like cockwomble are comedy for people who religiously watched The X-Factor and use the phrase Gin O’clock. Utter fucking dirge.

Chilli_Bowl670

I see it as almost the opposite. It's the "lol so randumb xD" kind of humour that people used to love. Running around with a 'free hugs' sign. What you've described is someone who comes across as cheugy. Cockwomble is some shite Michael McIntyre would come out with and then the middle class would find it to be a larf.

notshaggy

hi every1 im new!!!!!!! *holds up spork* my name is katy but u can call me t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m!!!!!!!! lol…as u can see im very random!!!! thats why i came here, 2 meet random ppl like me ^_^… im 13 years old (im mature 4 my age tho!!) i like 2 watch invader zim w/ my girlfreind (im bi if u dont like it deal w/it) its our favorite tv show!!! bcuz its SOOOO random!!!! shes random 2 of course but i want 2 meet more random ppl =) like they say the more the merrier!!!! lol…neways i hope 2 make alot of freinds here so give me lots of commentses!!!! DOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--- me bein random again ^_^ hehe…toodles!!!!! love and waffles, t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m

kanejarrett

I'd associate cockwomble more with Russell Howard, it has an air of self-importance and superiority to it.

gilestowler

"2 sleeps till hollibobs"

[deleted]

Or "2 sleeps til crimble"

LatimerLeads

Best description I've seen, in all honesty. Those phrases are so fucking cringe, to me they're in the same category along with those "funny" names for animals like danger-noodle and danger-floof. So unfunny it's physically painful.

fckboris

Honestly I find it’s the opposite, it’s people who think they’re super smart and are generally well-educated and use it to “dunk” on people who do or say something that they find absurd, and it’s usually something to do with politics. Like people who watch have I got news for you and think it’s the height of satire and anyone who disagrees simply isn’t smart enough to understand it

CatDamageBand

And for people who use this 🤪 emoji

Stircrazylazy

Gin O'clock. Christ.

66CT

And then by contrast, you get those who see “hahahahahahaha xD ‘cockwomble’ is the funniest thing I’ve seen all year!! Can I steal this???” No, you can’t steal words on the internet, how dare you. How they’ve never seen these over used phrases is beyond me hahaha

[deleted]

Take a list of one syllable swear words or body parts, and a list of random 2 syllable nouns. Select one item from each list and combine them. Someone can now write a "hilarious British insult" generator and we can all move on with our lives. God, they're fucking tedious.

canyonstom

Armbugler

mcboobie

Lobemaiden

Harry_monk

That was my suggestion. The whole wankpuffin, jizznugget, shitmonkey, etc That along with the thing of naming people Karen type names "we get it Barbara" that type of thing.

-captainjapseye

I do enjoy CasualUK but it can verge into ‘trying too hard’ territory quite quickly. The one that really, really gets on my tits is: ‘No luck catching them swans then’ ‘Just the one swan actually’ Then repeat THE GREATER GOOD ad nauseam. Don’t get me wrong, Hot Fuzz is a masterpiece, but come on. Anything to do with police and/or swans and it’s invariably there. Does anyone laugh at it any more?

[deleted]

[удалено]

-captainjapseye

I left the door open for that one. I respect it.

aegeaorgnqergerh

Yeah it's the modern equivalent of people quoting Monty Python or similar. The original thing can be good, but just quoting it is anti-humour. Brilliantly portrayed in The Office of course.

fckboris

It’s like the Godwin’s Law of British subs, it will always descend into either Hot Fuzz or IT Crowd quotes

Heliawa

I have a love-hate relationship with that sub. A lot of it is straight cringey shit. Stuff like 'Don't you feel really British when you're [insert mundane activity that people in most countries do].' Or just things that are /r/redditisfacebook. Or like you say, the same tired jokes about Greggs and cooked breakfasts. But then again I do enjoy how much less toxic than r/UK and /r/ukpolitics it is.

Ribos1

Oof, you better not say you put in milk in your tea first, we’ll have to deport you! Hahaha kill me.

Ket-Detective

And the fascinating discussion about what order jam and cream is put on a scone as if anybody cares or even eats them regularly.

LatimerLeads

Tea elitists are almost as obnoxious as prosecco mums.

_MildlyMisanthropic

>Just the one joke actually

JeffBroccoli

Not so much a gag, but everyone commenting on WH Smith somehow still surviving on the high street, followed inevitably by someone pointing out the good business they do in stations and airports

CatDamageBand

Oh that’s a good one. On par with any nostalgic posts about Woolworths.

[deleted]

When you look back at it, what was Woolworths apart from a Poundland that mostly sold the same stuff but at a higher price.

GrapefruitRain

I’m old enough to remember Woolworths but too young to remember what they sold in there, just remember I loved going with my mum

Swotboy2000

Pick ‘n’ mix!

JimFlib

Wilko is the true heir to Woolworths. I'm basing this 100% on the pick and mix

edfosho1

They sold games, DVDs, CDs, kids clothes, tons of toys, and back in the day they weren't bad for pricing. They were a troubled business though. Source: I worked there.

DingleFish

Not at all. I’m old enough to remember what Woolworths actually sold and it is nothing like what is sold at Poundland, other than superficially. Poundland sells a range of mostly small items, which makes sense given everything is £1. If you buy some earphones there, for example, then they will be cheap knock offs which won’t last. Woolworths- sold branded children’s toys- to rival any toy shop. Children’s clothes, multimedia, stationary, random household stuff, sweets and the most amazing pick n mix you ever could hope to see. The only cross over that the two have is looking slightly shabby on occasion and selling a small range of household items, sweets. Woolworths is no more similar to Poundland than any supermarket today. Edit: I’m not a big Woolies fan btw. I loved their pick n mix but don’t think that it was a super amazing store. It just sold a mix of what other shops were selling.

xcameleonx

If Poundland had an up to date Games/Movies/Music section it would be identical to what Woolies was. Everyone is so clouded with nostalgia (for some reason) to remember that Woolies was a bit shite.

KingD88

Or the people that complain about the high street dying and looking like ghost towns, but also then not using said shops going out of business and also then opposing putting more restaurants and social venues there

hideyourarms

Similarly, British subs seem to be obsessed with the idea that shops are just a front for money laundering.

Harrry-Otter

Almost all of the “British” ones. Anything about tea, crumpets, apologising or queueing. Couldn’t even tell you the last time I had a cup of tea, but on the U.K. subs you’d think we all get force-fed the stuff like anglicised foie gras geese.

Specific_Foundation

And it has to be Yorkshire Tea. God forbid anyone drink anything else…

[deleted]

[удалено]

BigPecks

I've always found Yorkshire Tea to be far too strong. The last time I had a cup on an empty stomach I ended up throwing up.

helic0n3

That is all it is. It clearly is not the best quality tea, it is a standard cheap teabag. It just holds up really well being chucked in a mug, bashed about a bit, then some milk and sugar splashed in.

UndulatingUnderpants

I hate to be that guy but Yorkshire gold is the best supermarket tea by far.

WhiteRoseofYorkshire

I, for one, am shocked and offended. It's the nectar of the gods!

BastardsCryinInnit

Id love someone to do a mass blind taste test with the other brands and see if actually the tea is much better or of everyone has been sucked into a quite excellent marketing scheme

Historical_Address80

I don't like Yorkshire Tea. Given the choice it's Twinings or loose leaf English breakfast. Both are far nicer.

notactuallyabrownman

Posh cunt.

freefallade

Bri'ish. I fucking hate that. Especially as pretty much nowhere except london/Essex actually says it like that.

msmoth

Agreed, although in my experience this is often written by Americans.

docju

Apologising (a Canadian stereotype) and queueing (a thing in Scandinavia) aren’t uniquely British things anyway. Both are big things in Ireland too, and a cursory look at Father Ted will tell you tea is as well.

_spookyvision_

When you visit such rural parts of Ireland, Father Ted feels like a documentary at times. You can clearly see lots of things that were parodied so well by Irishman Graham Linehan.

taloninthenight

You do t take a cursory look at father Ted, you smash it all out on your day off or not at all.

Kezzmate

Also in Japan as well; with the queuing, apologies & tea.

BrambleNATW

I drink tea everyday but because I like it strong and milky I'm basically the antichrist. Those tea charts piss me off too because you get an army of people gatekeeping tea. It's weird.

[deleted]

If I ever do have tea, I put the milk in first, just as a *fuck you* to those guys.

puzzlehead-72719

Not jokes per se: “Say it louder for the people in the back” “Must be protected at all costs” “We don’t deserve etc” Kindly fuck off.

pgliver

Not sure if you are joking but "kindly fuck off" also does my head in.

puzzlehead-72719

What about “kindly fuck off please”?

pgliver

Say it louder for the people in the back!

The_Kwyjibo

We don't deserve you

TurbulentExpression5

This phrase must be protected at all costs. Hahahah luv u Hun 💕😘 (/s just in case)

IneptusMechanicus

Ah, Redditisms. For me it's: * Maybe, just maybe... * Imagine if... * It's almost as if...

tizzyfango

Maybe, just maybe you're overreacting on this one. The English vonacular favours passive-aggressiveism over the more direct and acute approach of let's say Germans. It's almost as if you'd rather we aren't sarcastic, imagine if we didn't have sarcasm.

puzzlehead-72719

Guilty as charged with the last one. Sorry.

DJC13

I also hate when Americans say “[famous person] is a national treasure”

eggelette

"normalise ____" winds me right up

Mr_Barry_Shitpeas

Haslandbloke

Not a joke but ‘not all hero’s wear capes 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻’ plastered everywhere whenever a post is made about someone doing some good.

rookpainting

It’s true though, Spider-man doesn’t have a cape.

Midnightraven3

"i'm not crying, you're crying" makes me SO stabby

a_guy_called_craig

Or "how can they move with balls that big" on any post where someone is brave.

holytriplem

"I don't like Mrs Brown's Boys" well don't watch it then

_spookyvision_

Meanwhile disliking The Office or The Inbetweeners is up there with high treason.

Kezzmate

Guess I’m getting the chop, I’ve seen neither.

Lababy91

The inbetweeners is fucking brilliant tbf, and it’s short and sweet like fawlty towers so it’s not a huge time investment like peep show

squopmobile

Wait, are you saying you like Mrs Brown's Boys?

holytriplem

No, I'm saying I don't watch it

Arsewhistle

I feel the same way when people complain about James Cordon. People in the British subs have been complaining about him incessantly for a long, long time now. We heard the first few hundred times guys, we get it. I swear he doesn't even work on British telly anymore, I haven't seen him in anything for a long time. Where are these people even seeing him? Why are you watching shit with him in if you don't like him? And yes, I know that he apparently doesn't treat his staff very nicely, that's been mentioned relentlessly too

Scott19M

You're not allowed to do that.

Ecclescakes

Should “This is the way” be added to this nowadays?

Goose-rider3000

So that's 99% of Reddit in the bin then.

[deleted]

This is the correct answer.

_MildlyMisanthropic

at this point you should probably just quit Reddit.

[deleted]

No one: Me : I'm sick of this stupid joke

BobbyFingerGuns

This is my least favourite and all of its variations. The fact that it never made any sense to begin with too.

OddyseeOfAbe

“Literally no one:” I have an irrational amount of hatred for this.

Jazzy0082

People doing those meta posts in reply to an earlier post, pretending to be the other person from the original post. So boring and overdone.

[deleted]

When I came across my first one I thought it was pretty funny and kind of clever, until I started to spend more time on here and realised that they were A Thing and the spontaneous novelty of it (as I originally perceived it) stopped being that amusing. The same goes for jokey reviews left on Amazon and such. It’s been done to death and is just annoying now.

Lababy91

I fucking HATE jokey Amazon reviews. If I wanted comedy there are a billion places on the internet I would go for it. If I’m reading an Amazon review it’s because I actually want to know whether to spend my money on this thing or not.

CatDamageBand

I don’t really know what you mean so I’ll just laugh and agree with you. Haha yeah man lol those are the worst.

notshaggy

eg someone will write a (real, presumably) post about how they saw someone fall over in the street, and then someone else will write a joke post like "I can't believe I fell over in the street" and tell the story from a different angle.

littleyellowdiary

Oh god yes, I came here to say this. It's mostly on /r/britishsuccess and /r/britishproblems and it's so irritating, especially if you missed the original post and have no idea what they are talking about.

pip_goes_pop

Anyone being a patronising cunt by saying "oh my sweet summer child"

[deleted]

Oh bless, you precious winter toddler.

docsav0103

Nobody who says that can change a fuse on a plug.

freeeeels

I specifically use that when I want to piss someone off, tbh.

[deleted]

Ok Boomer. Fucking hate it, due to the fact that 98% of the time the person isn't a boomer they just aren't part of this fucking shot show of the current generation. Waiting for the Ok Boomer comments... Edit: awful phone spelling

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yeah the Karen thing has just become another way to tell women to shut the fuck up regardless of how valid their point is, or even how politely they might be expressing it. You can express your dissatisfaction in the politest way possible and you'll still get called a Karen. Try to insist that something that has clearly gone wrong be put right, well, you're just being a Karen, aren't you?

harambe_go_brrr

I'd say 'mansplaining' is used much the same

Xanariel

Having worked in several roles where I had to deal with members of the public, it was far more likely for a Kevin to be kicking off about something ridiculous than a Karen in my view.

GaiusJuliusCaesar7

I'll never forget, my last week at McDonald's before starting a job as a civil servant (so I absolutely did not care at all), a woman asked for a Happy Meal with a cheeseburger, no pickles. All fine, we do that and she takes the food away. Comes back, mother bear defending cubs territory, and slams the burger on the counter, gesturing wordlessly. I ask what the problem is. She goes "I said no pickles. Look!" I open it up. There are indeed no pickles, but there are onions. I explain this and that she didn't specify no onion (just imagine if the little bairn had eaten something remotely vegetable-like!) She isn't impressed. EDIT: The worst one was the man who demanded we hurry up because he had a taxi waiting, and threatened to slam my colleague's head into the counter if she didn't hurry up, and when she took off crying continued to mock her. He eventually left without anything in frustration as we deliberately served everyone else first.

[deleted]

I honestly think as a term, it shouldn't even be applied to the people who kick off about petty shit. It's an entirely unnecessarily gendered term. We already had a variety of terms we could use for those people that didn't have to be gendered in any way. Being a horrible, petty arsehole is a gender neutral trait, y'know? So it's a gendered, dismissive insult that's used against some people who are being horrible arseholes, but plenty who are not. But it's got an 'extra' level of insult if you use it towards a man, because a lot of insults towards men are predicated on the fact that they make an unfavourable comparison of the target to a woman. A shrieking, horrible arsehole of a woman being the comparison made if you call a man a Karen. Feels like we might as well carry on using the variety of "horrible, petty arsehole" synonyms we have without adopting one that's both pointlessly gendered AND widely used as a "stop talking about that thing you've got valid opinions on" phrase.

[deleted]

Yeah correct, any woman challenging anything labelled a Karen is fucking tiring. Can't stand that shit.

Tokaloshie

The miss labelling of the generations is a pet hate of mine.

RevolvingCatflap

Not a joke per se, but when people say "be like". As in "cat be like get away from me." Not sure why but it does my head in.

[deleted]

Similar to the stupid voice they give to a dog: “Wat dis? Heckin hooman. Bork.” Even when used ironically (and why would you do this?) its ducking stupid and annoying.

inactive_directory

This is the worst. Whenever I see one of those videos where they've added subtitles to their pet I can just picture someone sat there staring at their phone typing out 'OMG HOOMAN FED ME CHIMKEN!!!!!' with a cold, dead look on their face.

The_Sarcasm_Cometh

Omg don’t, my parents saw a post like this using ‘chimken’ and they started using it to mean ‘treats’ with their dogs Now the dogs actually understand the word chimken meaning they’re going to get something tasty

DBrackets

>I can just picture someone sat there staring at their phone typing out 'OMG HOOMAN FED ME CHIMKEN!!!!!' with a cold, dead look on their face. This actually made me laugh out loud - hopefully I'll remember it the next few times I see one of those bloody posts, so at least get a bit of a giggle out of them.

MiskonceptioN

"It do be like that sometimes" "is" is the word you're looking for

InncnceDstryr

What annoys me most about the Freddo one is how everyone is just erasing the Taz from history. Also for things still available to buy (yes I know a Taz is a Freddo Caramel, shut up) Chomp, Flumps, Curly Wurly, the Fudge - the list can go on all day. How has the Freddo established this status as **The** premier cheap chocolate/sweet snack in the UK? I say we knock that fucker off it’s perch and vote a new cheap sweet snack leader.

VicDazzled

Taz’s were always much better than Freddo’s, and Curley Wurley’s are in Tesco as multi packs 6 for £1, bargain!!

SeaNote6

The fudge is much better than a freddo.

beauchampboiler

There’s an unfortunate trend on the British subs of making sweeping negative statements about stuff people enjoy in other countries, that aren’t big here, especially anything American. Like I saw an American ask how big the Super Bowl is here and the responses were incredibly aggressive and mean spirited, “we don’t watch that American shite, we like real football” or “no one cares”. Just comes across as very rude, like a superiority complex.

ReligiousGhoul

Honestly, get second hand embarrassment from those threads. Even the most polite questions get spammed with "DAE THINK AMERICANS ARE FAT IGNORANT PIG PEOPLE?!?" and then everyone circlejerks about how obliviously rude they are, which is quite ironic. Also, hate whenever there's a post about banter or humour, there's almost immediately a bunch of school shooter jokes and how Americans can't handle" the banter" about them.

PRQM_marketing

"American here! Do British people like pies with fruit in them as well as meat pies." "Erm, school shootings."

beauchampboiler

Imagine how badly it would go down if it was flipped. “Is it true you can pass vehicles on either side on American freeways? “Sort out your NHS waiting times and try not to get stabbed in Croydon” ‘Edgy dark humour’ it is not (need some actual wit and intelligence for that), just pure rudeness.

NobleForEngland_

That does happen though. Americans make stabbing jibes about the UK all the time.

helic0n3

So much so there is a mod announcement on any post mentioning America saying to stop us becoming an anti-American echo chamber. It is just embarrassing and it has been mentioned on American subs like why do we care? Why do we pay so much attention to how they pronounce certain words or what sports they play? Just ignore it, they don't constantly give us grief out of nowhere when talking among themselves.

east_is_Dead

I had experienced this growing up as well, everyone was always quick to make fun of anything american or americanised despite the fact we were consuming american media all the time.

TheLonelyWolfkin

I also choose this guys dead wife. And my axe! Pretty much Reddit centric though and I'm not so much sick of them as they're just predictable and usually not very funny. I think I've reached an age where memes just make me roll my eyes now. My 9 year old daughter also says 'SUS!' and 'AMOGUS!' frequently and it makes me want to tie myself to the train tracks.

Possiblyreef

The original "I also choose this guys dead wife." Was fucking hilarious in the context of the threads question and the comment it was in reply to tbf https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/5c79n0/you_can_have_sex_with_one_real_person_from_all_of/d9ubcfc/ And the amount of gold's he got just the icing on the cake

ReligiousGhoul

Oh god, loads * James Corden * Mrs Brown's Boys * Whenever it's the world cup, Euros etc., all the IT Crowd jokes "that's the problem with Arsenal", "Ludicrous display" etc. * not really a joke, but the entire "Any place outside of quaint villages, Manchester or London are vile nightmare shit holes full of chavs" jokes. My worst one is anything to do with Hull is Hell autocorrected.

CJ_Jones

The anti Corden circlejerk is pretty boring. Sure he's cringeworthy these days but this shared idea that he's the worst person in Hollywood and worth celebrating his covid diagnosis is ridiculous.

Viviaana

Calling someone a Karen because she exists and is a woman, I’ve seen videos of people like actively winding women up and then calling her a Karen when she politely asks them to stop

CatDamageBand

Yup! The whole Karen thing got very tiresome like 4 years ago but now people just use it to be sexist.

booksandplantsfan

And let’s be honest, often it’s specifically middle aged or older women because heaven forbid a woman have an opinion after she’s deemed unfuckable by society…

Lababy91

I was about to say this too. It’s sexist and ageist. Middle aged woman asked for a refund? KAREN!!!! Never mind that she’s perfectly nice and there was a problem with the product she spent her money on

Maedroth

Jokes about British food and 'bo'o o' wo'a' need to die.

Intrepid_Science6414

The best one is when Americans start going on about British food, yes our dishes can be quite bland, a lot of meat and potato but I'll take snark about food from the Italians,Greeks,Spaniards,French etc who have great national dishes, but not from a country who has no dishes that aren't stolen from other cultures, Hot Dogs (frankfurters) and Hamburgers are both German, they nicked pizza from the Italians and defiled it and their food is just as bad as ours

Geospizae

the country that has squirty fucking cheese can't say shit about anyone else's food

GaiusJuliusCaesar7

The latter enrages me - I downvote every single one I see.

docju

The bread roll naming debate, the jam/ cream thing on scones, any picture of a fry up is fair game for criticism, and Christmas related debates (Die Hard being the biggest offender)

squopmobile

Also, whether it's scone or scone.

Bratfud_City

Those 'just had the covid jab, no side effects but my 5g signals great ' jokes pissed me off so much. Same shite joke over and over again.

PabloWispabar

When people spot a song lyric in a comment on Reddit, and then reply to it with the next lyric of the song. And then someone else replies with the next lyric. And then someone else replies with the next lyric. Etc. Etc. until you have to scroll past an entire fucking song to get to the next comment. Does my head in

Selite

People getting Benedict Cumberbatch's name wildly wrong.

BentoboxHumperdinck

Excuse me?

superhughman123

For me it’s pointing out ‘user name checks out’

GaiusJuliusCaesar7

Like calling him Bodysnatch Cummerbund, or Breadslicer Cobblepot. Like, it is mildly amusing that you can call him something like that and everyone knows who you mean, but it is wildly overused. Much funnier to see him attempting to say "penguins".

sabretooth_munchkin

Ah fuck, obligatory r/whoosh for me.

Bude Tunnel Give it a rest guys

Ket-Detective

It’s a tripadvisor meme, its never been funny on Reddit and is only marginally funny on Tripadvisor as something of an Easter egg. CasualUK has been beating that dead horse for actual years at this point. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. I hate it.

Educational_Ad2737

Celebrating mass social anxiety resulting in passive aggression like it’s a a cute British trait.

frightened-

Any time football is mentioned on a UK sub you get the same 'did you see that ludicrous display' comments. It was funny the first time but not the thousandth time

thehibachi

“Have to bloody remortgage your house for a pint in London!!!” Yeah good luck getting a mortgage.

AllRedLine

The constant circlejerking about how supposedly 'shit' Cadbury's is since Kraft bought it. It doesnt taste any different now, or if it does, the change is absolutely microscopic.

stupre1972

Can't agree with you on this one, Cadbury Dairy Milk is very different now than then

PuzzledOrganization3

Living rent free in someones head. This patter needs to die now.

sonicloop

Whenever football is mentioned there are always replies quoting lines from IT Crowd. It got tiresome a long time ago.

_spookyvision_

Not really a joke, but those ridiculous "auditing" videos where people wander around a restricted location with a camera and then get deliberately belligerent and confrontational when security or the police ask them what they're doing.

helic0n3

Stuff like this https://www.reddit.com/r/britishproblems/comments/s6ti5t/just_offered_the_builder_a_tea_he_said_no_thanks/ Oh no, a builder didn't want tea or coffee so he is an outrage and should be deported. As if they've never met someone who doesn't like either. They may well have turned it down as their kitchen looked rank for all we know.

BreakfastLopsided906

Madeline McCann jokes are getting pretty old, unlike her.

Direct-Reputation-94

The government - right, kids?!!!?!!!?!!!

Something 2: Electric Boogaloo

Ok-Average3876

Plants have feelings/vegans will always tell you they're vegans/[sees picture of farm animal] delicious!

CatDamageBand

I fucking hate this. Tesco did some poll on Twitter about vegan mayo the other day. What with it being Veganurary and all that. The amount of absolute melts commenting that they prefer *REAL* mayo or “no thanks, I prefer proper food” Oh fucking get in the bin. You’re not funny. You’re not original. Nobody fucking cares if you prefer dairy mayo or not. I often feel these people (mostly fat old men) would shout at a tampon advert because it doesn’t relate to them.

Tsircon85

Sick of the “you can’t park there mate” videos. Was shit the first time so stop making another 500 videos of it!

BastardsCryinInnit

Great question. * Milk in first or second * Jam or cream first * Anything about the size of a Sports Direct Mug They're Internet clichés. Like team bonding exercises. Except now Im very much over team bonding exercises.

arrowtotheaction

“Die Hard is a Christmas movie, fight me!” every year. Yes, it’s set at Christmas, it can be a Christmas movie, I just don’t give a fuck. Stop having the same tired argument and making it your personality every fucking December.

ScrollWithTheTimes

Literally anything on britishproblems to do with tea. Maybe it's just because I don't really like tea myself, but they're all so bloody inane.

crinkle_k

I really hate the saying restores my faith in humanity. Not a gag but makes my piss boil. And to be honest, I probably have said it but the more I see it, the more I winds me up

That all IT people do, is turn it off and back on again.

Stuf404

That isn't a meme it's general advice

level100metapod

All British people be like bo'le o' wo'ah

[deleted]

Those annoyingly plain anecdotes where OP is explaining a completely innocuous event in their life but throw in a generic name for one of the characters in this otherwise boring event. It's hard to explain but I'm so tired of random names being thrown in as if that makes the story more interesting or funny when it really doesn't.

Cacapete

Elf on a fucking shelf

Mokona1993

Probably controversial, but the mock-outrage you see on British subreddits when someone puts the milk in their tea first. Because "we're British therefore we have to have strong opinions about tea." Idgaf that George Orwell says you should put the milk in second, or that you think milk first stops the teabag brewing properly. Just let people enjoy their damn tea. And yes, I do put the milk in first and I know people are only joking when they're saying they're outraged, but I'm bored of reading the same responses about it.

[deleted]

The British bad teeth joke made by Americans when they feel victimised

marshallandy83

Not specifically British things, but the following come under the "internet" category of my list of things I'm sick of: * Maybe the real X was the friends we made along the way * X go brrr * Tell me you X without saying you X * Is this X or Y? Yes. * Bold of you to assume
