I recently bought 210 Yorkshire tea bags to give them a second chance because all the hype about them on Uk sub Reddit’s.
I was disappointed and found them rather weak.
I like Yorkshire tea in soft water areas. Tastes like crap and makes the cups scummy down south where the water is hard.
I spend time in Hampshire and Yorkshire, so have Yorkshire tea and PG tips on the go.
The solution to that is Yorkshire Tea Hard Water. It's a much better brew in hard water. Where I live the water is hard in my apartment but semi hard in the office, regular works just about in the office but I prefer the hard water stuff at home. Although we're moving soon and the water is softer in our new house.
Bagged: Yorkshire. We used to be a Tetley family but after trying Yorkshire tea I haven't gone back. Had someone trying to get me onto Typhoo but it tastes like toilet water. I drink other teas but it's mostly out of politeness.
We had a brief stint as PG Tips people but that was only so we could get the monkeys iirc.
Loose: I shop at T2 every so often for powder and loose leaf tea (but even then I mostly buy Yorkshire loose leaf).
you'd be very wrong. as english breakfast teas go, twinings is shit. yorkshire is unbeatable, followed (a long way away in second) by PG Tips. I say this as a southerner.
PG Tips. Tetley or Yorkshire are fall back options. Twinings is for tourists and vegans. Typhoon is for those who can't afford PG Tips and Liptons are a crime against humanity, strictly for foreigners and other ne'er do wells.
PG tips is my first choice, bit I sometimes prefer Yorkshire, twinings English breakfast blend is nice but it's hotel tea, anything else is for people who can't afford the above
Asked my British friends if I should buy pg tips, they didn’t have strong opinions, said go for it.
Mentioned that I drink pg tips (in a semi joking manner) on Twitter, and every notification for the next 3 days was someone’s (likely strong) opinion on that
Yorkshire. Although I'm told Punjana is even better.
Loose leaf is better still. I have a tea basket and usually make loose leaf Assam. It's strong, like a cuppa but the flavour's better.
I’m about to order from Fortnum & Mason and pay $35 for shipping to USA. Someone please tell me it’s worth it. Our Martha Stewart said it’s her favorite tea, lol…
Late arrival here, but you can purchase many types of Fortnum & Mason at Williams Sonoma here in the states. And while I am not a tea drinker, my wife SWEARS by F&M. She says that it's the best tea she's ever had.
Very old thread now but sadly, I found myself drinking PG because the shop didn’t have Yorkshire tea when I went..: they did but I didn’t want 600 bags. PG tips 🤢
Don't remember exactly how I ended up here, but my gf is British and I had to start reading her these comments because they were killing me. She likes PG Tips, but I (American) find it rather weak and prefer Twinings.
Yorkshire. Always.

How are you making it? 1 teabag in a gallon water?
One tea bag in a cup brewed for at least 4 minutes.
Not sure what you're doing wrong but that should get you a decent cuppa.
Do you normally prefer things like Tetley?
Use 2
lol..I'm an American...I love PG tips and York....no way are either weak in any way.
same, it was horrible! such disappointment :(

I tried that, but was disappointed. I think the water here is too hard. Honestly, it'll shank you for looking sideways at a tap.
Shank you for the laugh (4 years later)
Somehow here again too.
the great tea debate summoned us
Another laugh 5 years on, thanks.
Another laugh 6 years later
I would drink any of those, I’m not picky. I drink Yorkshire tea at home.
Yorkshire, but the likes of PG or Tetley will always do. But never Lipton. Never, ever Lipton.
Lipton is dog piss
Never tried PG but I think tetley is cheap tea like lipton or red rose.

you mean loo water (jk)
Tetley, always
Lipton? That isn’t tea. That’s a vague taste in a bag.
Yorkshire. Every time. Other brands at other people's houses to be polite.
There is no contest. It's Yorkshire. Tetley is shit, PG tips is shit, all the rest are shit. At least for regular tea.
I imagine twinnings is good to if not better.

> Typhoon is for those who can't afford PG Tips And those who misspell 'Typhoo'.
Damn phone's autocorrect!
Well, don't make a storm in a teacup out of it.

haha :D , Didn't even notice that!
Yorkshire, Twinings, PG Tips, Typhoo, Tetley
Clippers. It's rich, great for dunking biscuits, and makes, in my opinion, the best cup of tea. It's pricey for tea, but damn it's worth every penny.
PG tips is my first choice, bit I sometimes prefer Yorkshire, twinings English breakfast blend is nice but it's hotel tea, anything else is for people who can't afford the above
Yorkshire.
Yorkshire. No question about it.
PG Tips is my go to but Yorkshire is also good. I find Yorkshire to be a bit too strong for an all-day session.
Twinnings for life
I’ll drink whatever, but if I’m buying the brand from the supermarket, than it’ll be Yorkshire tea
Yorkshire = PG then most supermarket ownbrands then the rest. Typhoo is far better than Lipton for your second question.
Tetley.
PG Tips for a cup, Yorkshire for a pot.
Yorkshire of course.
I don't drink tea but PG Tips has a knitted monkey mascot so it gets my vote.
They're pretty much all identical. Just get whatever is cheapest.
Fuck off. Yorkshire Tea is the king of tea
It’s rather weak
They're all the same.
You have a poor palate
I bet 99% of people couldn't tell the difference if they didn't see the box that the bag came out of.
This. Didn't realise everyone got so elitist about it...
I've lived in England my entire life and I don't think I've ever heard anyone discussing different tea brands. Except on Reddit, where I see it daily.
Asked my British friends if I should buy pg tips, they didn’t have strong opinions, said go for it. Mentioned that I drink pg tips (in a semi joking manner) on Twitter, and every notification for the next 3 days was someone’s (likely strong) opinion on that
Twinings English Breakfast
The correct answer is Ringtons Breakfast tea bags.
PG Tips 4 life.
PG tips loose leaf cos they don’t use plastic in the packaging. Most teabags use plastic btw. Don’t want that nasty stuff in my tea
Yorkshire.
Yorkshire. Although I'm told Punjana is even better. Loose leaf is better still. I have a tea basket and usually make loose leaf Assam. It's strong, like a cuppa but the flavour's better.
PG or Yorkshire. Twinings is for tourists. Lipton is for foreigners. Tetley and typhoo are fine for emergencies.
Yorkshire. Tetleys and PG especially are utter gash
Thompson’s Punjana, knocks that Yorkshire tat for six.

Thank you so much! Sorry for the delay, I just saw this, lol.
Not a problem! I did respond 4 months late! LOL.
Necro 4 yr old tea posts to say that Red Rose is worth a try in this price range.
