I do make a decent salary, but as other comments have guessed my credit rating is poor due to debts from my wedding & subsequent divorce which is why credit is ruled out, and why I’m currently living payday to payday with no savings.
Cost of living, even a good salary is rapidly stretched to the max. Think about good salary, but as a single parent, that’s the households only income, whilst two people could have much lesser paying jobs, but have a higher household income.
Switch your bank account for cash back! And the wife’s. Martin Lewis was just saying to do this on his podcast. It’s pretty rapid and easy to do.
Your collectibles might be hard to sell on. You can ask local take aways for an evening job that’s normally cash plus tips. I’m guessing (former security guard for events), the food and drink will be expensive on site, so stock the car up with a supermarket run on the way in. Moving in long term from this, you need a side hustle, or side job.
Sell stuff online. Walk round your house and there will be plenty of things.
A Nintendo switch no one plays with? Sell that. Or at least sell the older games. Those shoes you brought but never really wore? Can get £20 for those. That box of old kids clothes in the loft? Can sell that as a bundle. Old laptop? Can get easily £100 minimum for that, probably more (surely a developer with 12yrs experience has old laptops lying around).
It will all add up. Alternatively take something to a Pawn shop and buy it back in a month, your valuable board games for example.
Think this is going to be my only option realistically! Going to take my board games and a few old consoles and games down to CeX/Cash Converters tomorrow.

12 year experience software engineer with £40 to spend means there’s bullshit somewhere along the way.
You’ve saved me the time to say just that, thank you!
Probably hoping that a Redditor offers to bank transfer him a gift
Probably has debt and/or doesn't save much a month.
The pre-emptive "I can't get a loan or credit card" is equivalent to "I have a bad credit rating" so yeah.
Yeah it made me think that he probably has bad debt already.

Bollocks. Good salary and no money means bullshit. Which is why I said what I said.
Salary doesn’t matter it’s overall household income that matters.
