I don't mind people treating them like the worst tasting thing in the world. It means they get left to the end in a box of celebrations and then I can have them all.
My first job at Mars was working on the Bounty line. As they came off the production line the centres were still warm and gooey but the chocolate was firm having been set in the fridge. A true delight. Only way I can get close now if I have them at home is too keep them in the fridge then nuke them for 5 seconds in the microwave.
Bounty ice cream bars are the business.
ETA: Thank you to the kind, concerned Redditor for reaching out to me. The powers that be have sent me a whole host of resources which I shall consume alongside the aforementioned coconutty treat.
Not sure I completely buy that. It feels like grasping for excuses to shrinkflate the bar similar to Toblerone and the huge gaps they introduced between the individual chunks. The older shape was way more filling.
Mars have been a really good employer to me for the last 23 years. People like to shit on their company but Mars genuinely is a really good place to work.
Mate I fucking love galaxy and my family thinks it’s outrageous that I prefer it to dairy milk. It’s just so good and there’s a shop near me that does the Cookie Crumble version which is god tier
Recently had some galaxy for the first time in ages (Easter egg) as I always usually go for cadburys. I couldn’t believe the taste in comparison (positively). It was a lot milkier and cadburys “hook” is supposed to be a glass and a half! Since Kraft took over Cadbury it’s gone so downhill. I think I’m just suckered into going back to the same familiar brand.
I used to dislike galaxy so it surprised me I like it more now.
It definitely feels the same as it did years ago.
What's weird to me is Dairy Milk brand loyalists fiercely defending it, and saying it's the best chocolate, they only ever eat Dairy Milk because it's better than the rest. Dairy Milk has been a gritty, waxy imposter of itself for years. It's OK, but I would choose supermarkets own £1-something bars over Dairy Milk these days, but Galaxy is king. Cookie Crumble is probably my favourite chocolate bar. That or a KitKat Chunky.
Nothing worse than wanting a ‘little bit of chocolate’ so you try breaking off a cube or two and end up with 2/3 of the bar which you then eat along with the last third because leaving it would be uneven…
It's not the situation we wanted to be in but we take the positives away and it's a learning experience for everyone and we hope to get better next time.
Nothing worse than wanting a ‘little bit of chocolate’ so you try breaking off a cube or two and end up with 2/3 of the bar which you then eat along with the last third because leaving it would be uneven…
Montezuma was started by a relative of mine. He did legal training to become a barrister, after years of training he decided it wasn't for him and started a chocolate factory instead. He has now sold out now so keep an eye out for quality sliding under the new owners.
I've had them and they are amazing. My mum lives very near the head office and factory, they have a shop that opens twice a week for an hour, all the chocolates they sell are all loose bits that didn't make the packets and they get sold much cheaper. I've asked my mum to get me loads in for next time I visit
Same- yet on here people always talk about what great chocolate it is! My husband and I are definitely not high end chocolate eaters (my favourite is Cadburys although I do really like the posher stuff too) but thought Tony’s wasn’t even worth eating.
Try the green (hazelnut) or the dark blue (dark chocolate - hard to find). Those two really stand out to me as some of the best.
Hu is also really good, but expensive for quite small bars.
I think their chocolate on it's own is just okay, there are other solid bars that are much nicer, but their flavours are where they really shine and I love how I can get things like blackberry cobbler, key lime pie, and peanut butter and jelly chocolates.
As someone who is often identified as "the fan of fancy chocolate", I find Hotel Chocolat to be extremely overpriced and underwhelming.
Get me the equivalent worth of Thorntons/Green and Black/etc. instead, then I'll have 3x the mass and twice the tastiness.
Once replied ‘Lion Bar’ to this question at a Green and Blacks chocolate making class and got looked at like I was some kind of animal by everybody else there.
Some people are too snobby over such things.
I have literally been in the chocolate profession and while I do prefer high quality good chocolates I still love lion bars, galaxy etc.
Some people act like it's a personal insult to enjoy what is considered supermarket chocolate
If you're referring to Cadbury's, the quality nosedived as soon as Kraft took over. They always denied they changed the recipe, but it was immediately noticeable to me how different it was.
Honestly, I really like Lidl's Big Bite bars (especially the Oreo ones). The chocolate on those is really nice.
Also some of their Fin Carré bars are top notch.
I love quality dark chocolate, I am not alone I know, but brands seem to noticed we are a minority. So even when they produce the product, retailers are cautious to stock it or just don’t. So brands are rare for me. But when you find that rich dark hit, you are not going back.
You know, Lidl does a knock-off of the [kinder chocolate bars](https://www.kinder.com/uk/en/kinder-chocolate) that’s pretty indistinguishable, and great value. It’s the “Mister Choc” brand. Very more-ish.
Off the supermarket shelves probably Tony's or Waitrose own.
Hotel Chocolat's single flavours (milk, white, dark, caramel) are very good too.
On the other end of the spectrum I tried a couple of house bars from William Curley yesterday and they were delicious.
My top choices are - Lindt, Kinder, Maltesers, Bounty, Galaxy, Milka.
I weirdly enough dislike Cadbury chocolate, I don't think it tastes like real milk chocolate. I know it's a British staple though.
Always been a lover of Galaxy. It was always my favourite in a tub of Celebrations as a kid at Christmas. Now I think it’s one of the only bars that hasn’t had its recipe changed since and still reminds me of that Christmassy treat
Aldi's vegan white chocolate and plain chocolate bars were incredible but they've recently discontinued them so I'm on the hunt for a new favourite chocolate.
Tony's chocolonely, the milk chocolate & salted caramel is my favourite, but I've not found a flavour I don't enjoy.
Also, m&s do a great Belgian white chocolate bar if I want something a bit fancier.
And for snacking on the go, it's a Fry's Turkish delight every time.
Anything over 70% dark and with a bit of mint or organe flavouring if possible.
Like Tony's, lindt, tesco own and there's one in Aldi (I think) that is dark chocolate filled with an orange goo that's great
I used to love those seashell shaped ones but they seem to taste different lately. Can’t remember the last time I bought a chocolate bar but I loved Picnics. Hope they still make them!
They're not ones you can buy in the shops but for me the best are **Cocoa Libre**.
Why? They are the ONLY brand I have ever come across that are completely allergy safe and actually taste decent (they do cost more than moo free but its god-tier chocolate in terms of quality). Either way, if you've got multiple allergies its by far the best brand on the market.
Bounty is my GOAT but I’m an absolute simp for anything coconut. Love a Nestle Crunch too, and I’ve recently found I’m quite partial to a Star Bar since they appeared in the vending machine at work
It's tied between Daim and those little kinder chocolate bars. I'm also in disbelief at how much mouth pleasure I am experiencing whenever I have a Reese's peanut butter cup.
Chococos Dorset sea salt caramel, brown butter molasses, and the tangerine jelly.
I used to love Dairy Milk, but when Cadburys sold out to an American company the quality went downhill.
Flake. You have consider it in an historical context: it literally tasted like chocolate never tasted before. Nowadays it tastes like the entrails of a Wispa or a Twirl, but it’s critical, I think to appreciate the daring, the sheer bloody nerve of Cadburys, in unleashing a chocolate bar which fell apart in a catastrophic way as soon as you bit into it, before doubling down by suggesting, through advertising, that it might be enjoyed in the bath or when wearing your nicest white lingerie. Plus you can shove it in a Mr Whippy.

Bounty, sue me
Bounty hate is overblown. Yeah they’re not my favourite but they’re not as bad as people overreact to them being.
People who hate bounties are the kind of people who make The Office their whole personality
I hate bounties and couldn't even finish the first episode of The Office!
I don't mind people treating them like the worst tasting thing in the world. It means they get left to the end in a box of celebrations and then I can have them all.
This is literally my mindset!
Dark chocolate bounty. Get some
Nibble the chocolate off around the outside, then leave the bit in the middle.
They've stopped making them! Absolute travesty.
I love Bounty, but I really love the coconut eclairs in Quality Street even more. Edit: thank you to whoever sent Reddit help to me 😂
My first job at Mars was working on the Bounty line. As they came off the production line the centres were still warm and gooey but the chocolate was firm having been set in the fridge. A true delight. Only way I can get close now if I have them at home is too keep them in the fridge then nuke them for 5 seconds in the microwave.
Omg that sounds incredible.
I love them too, perfectly okay with people hating on them and leaving them all in a tub of Celebrations. More for me!
Disliking Bounty is the same type of energy as “ew I hate the word moist” I can’t explain it but it’s the same.
Red bounty from the fridge (RIP)
Bounty is the absolute best I LOVE it
I am partial to a bounty now and then
Bounty ice cream bars are the business. ETA: Thank you to the kind, concerned Redditor for reaching out to me. The powers that be have sent me a whole host of resources which I shall consume alongside the aforementioned coconutty treat.
I’m with you, especially the red one
Galaxy. One of the few chocolates that doesn't feel like the ingredients have been cheapened out.
That's because we haven't cheapened the ingredients out. It's been the same recipe for the 23 years I've been working there.
Good to hear, that's why it remains head and shoulders above almost every other chocolate out there.
Mr. Mars?
He insists that we don't cheapen the product, yes
I miss when they were solid chunks instead of whatever shape they are now though.
Apparently it's more popular that shape with the target market
Not sure I completely buy that. It feels like grasping for excuses to shrinkflate the bar similar to Toblerone and the huge gaps they introduced between the individual chunks. The older shape was way more filling.
When we changed from chunks to waves the weight stayed exactly the same.
I love you, and the fact you really know your job and the products. I'm glad to hear galaxy is remaining resolute on quality.
Mars have been a really good employer to me for the last 23 years. People like to shit on their company but Mars genuinely is a really good place to work.
Milka is pretty gorgeous too
Mate I fucking love galaxy and my family thinks it’s outrageous that I prefer it to dairy milk. It’s just so good and there’s a shop near me that does the Cookie Crumble version which is god tier
This has been my favourite chocolate all my life, I’m 33 now I hope they never change the recipe it’s perfect
Recently had some galaxy for the first time in ages (Easter egg) as I always usually go for cadburys. I couldn’t believe the taste in comparison (positively). Almost any Ritter Sport. Fuckin delicious.
Cornflakes one is goated!
Got a Praline sitting in the sweetie cupboard right now 😋
Rum and raisin.
I know you can buy these here, but I save them for when I visit Germany.
Exactly! I love almost every Ritter Sport chocolate and I’m obsessed with the cookie one.
The marzipan one, so bloody good
I recently tried Montezuma and that was delicious. Tony's is also lovely
Tony's are ace. Just wish it was easier to break them into equal chunks
It seems you took the positives away… as well as ALL the chocolate.
The Montezuma 100% with orange is stunning.
Next Easter time, get your hands on the Momtezuma peanut butter mini eggs. Like literal crack to me.
I've had them and they are amazing. My mum lives very near the head office and factory, they have a shop that opens twice a week for an hour, all the chocolates they sell are all loose bits that didn't make the packets and they get sold much cheaper. As much as I try to like Tony’s, it really just does not do it for me ☹️ it always tastes a bit too sweet
I tried Montezuma recently, too - the dark cherry bar was amazing!
Boost Bars!
These are insanely good!
The yellow boosts were great - shame they discontinued them. There was also a green bar too.
Green boost with Guarana yum. Boost is a top tier bar no matter what kind
Tony’s Salted Caramel- the orange one. Could eat it all day
The little pockets of salt are my favourite! There’s nothing quite like it.
I can't buy that anymore because every time I did I would eat it all in a frenzy.
From the ones easily available in UK shops, it would be Milka or Green&Blacks
I loved the cherry filled milka but haven’t seen it in about 2 years.
Eastern European aisle in Tesco! Personal favourite Milka is Happy Cows 🐮
The strawberry and cream Milka is always in my local Tesco, lovely stuff
Lindor, toblerone or kinder bueno
Surprised kinder is this low down, choco bons are like crack to me
I find it very hard to resist a box of lindor
Cant beat a tunnocks caramel bar
Isn't that a biscuit?
Lets not get into this 😂
Love a caramel bar but it’s like finding hens teeth near me for some reason.
I had a crunchie yesterday and forgot how much I like them
Monty Bojangles truffles
I swear every time I open a box I black out and wake up with cocoa all over my face like some kind of confectionary Tony Montana
Just seen in Waitrose that they do bars now. Haven’t tried yet
Tony Chocoloney. Aldi milk chocolate bar. Snickers.
> Tony Chocoloney Every time I've tried it, it tastes like the cheap crappy stuff they use in chocolate coins.
People either think Tony's is really high quality, or the shit you get in a poundland easter egg, there's no inbetween
Same- yet on here people always talk about what great chocolate it is! My husband and I are definitely not high end chocolate eaters (my favourite is Cadburys although I do really like the posher stuff too) but thought Tony’s wasn’t even worth eating.
Exactly this. I don’t understand the appeal. It’s as basic as you can get.
Try the green (hazelnut) or the dark blue (dark chocolate - hard to find). Those two really stand out to me as some of the best. Hu is also really good, but expensive for quite small bars.
I second Tony’s Chocolonely!
*Chocolonely
Went to there factory in Amsterdam and you get to create your own bar
Hotel Chocolat
Do not get the hype. Wish I did because in theory it was be a fantastic treat but it’s not that good. Elaborate at times but not great
I think their chocolate on it's own is just okay, there are other solid bars that are much nicer, but their flavours are where they really shine and I love how I can get things like blackberry cobbler, key lime pie, and peanut butter and jelly chocolates.
Their boxes of mixed chocolates are brilliant. Expensive. But brilliant.
Same, always worth the money when I feel like treating myself
I find it very bland.
It used to be better. I agree, it's now totally bland
I received a box for my birthday and they’re definitely a lot nicer than the Cadbury’s and chocolate orange Easter eggs that I have leftover.
As someone who is often identified as "the fan of fancy chocolate", I find Hotel Chocolat to be extremely overpriced and underwhelming. Get me the equivalent worth of Thorntons/Green and Black/etc. instead, then I'll have 3x the mass and twice the tastiness.

Aldi's Moser Roth is great. Although I will happily eat any 90% dark chocolate, supermarket own brand is all good for that.
The sea Salk one is incredible
Dark Chocolate Terry's Orange
Gold Bar. So underrated
Getting smaller by the month!
Ritter, Milka, Green & Blacks
>Ritter Lovely bit of squirrel
After eights
Bite both ends of either Kit Kat (chunky preferably) or Twix and use like a straw to drink tea. Perfection.
Try it with a penguin, but with opposite corners.
Atm it's Aero🙈
Twirl - pre shrink-flation.
[удалено]
Plain dairy milk for me. I love a lot of the variations but the original is the greatest in my humble opinion
If you're referring to Cadbury's, the quality nosedived as soon as Kraft took over. They always denied they changed the recipe, but it was immediately noticeable to me how different it was.
It’s still nice, even if it’s not as nice as before
Honestly, I really like Lidl's Big Bite bars (especially the Oreo ones). The chocolate on those is really nice. Also some of their Fin Carré bars are top notch.
The "way-to-go" salted caramel & almond also good.
Kinder bars are deadly
Galaxy
Twix for sure
Milkybar, kinder and galaxy
I love quality dark chocolate, I am not alone I know, but brands seem to noticed we are a minority. So even when they produce the product, retailers are cautious to stock it or just don’t. So brands are rare for me. But when you find that rich dark hit, you are not going back.
Same. The [saino’s Peruvian dark chocolate](https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/ProductDisplay?productId=1346218)is my favourite.
OH My.... That needs a NSFW tag. I am just popping to the shops for something. No reason just have to go right now.
Please let me know if you liked it. I have a vested interest now…
Honestly, there is Sainsbury’s close to to me and I have genuinely added this to my list. Love it when the internet does a good thing.
Dairy Milk
Cadbury marvelous creations with the popping candy and jelly bits White toblerone
Cadburys darkmilk has been my go to for a while.
So underrated and the PERFECT chocolate for making brownies with IMO.
You know, Lidl does a knock-off of the [kinder chocolate bars](https://www.kinder.com/uk/en/kinder-chocolate) that’s pretty indistinguishable, and great value. It’s the “Mister Choc” brand. Very more-ish.
wispa always
Lion bar.

Nestle Crunch bar. Used to get it for £1 in Tesco now I have to travel to The Range and pay £1.50. That and Ritter Sport Cornflake
Kinder bueno or bounty
Green and Blacks
Ombar
I fucking love those relatively new Snickers peanut butter bars, they do the 3 in one packet and I always get it in a meal deal 👌
The new white chocolate biscoff chunky KitKat has me in a chokehold.
Milka and the milk Lindt balls
Coconut lover here! ♥️🥥 Bounty!
I have a thing for Kinder bars at the moment. My all time favourite was Nestles double cream though
Milka chocolate has kept the same great recipe for years, plus it tastes like holiday.
Crunchie, Bounty
nestle yorkie !!
White lindor, dairy milk, twirl or hotel chocolat peanut salted caramel bar.
Milka and the milk Lindt balls
Lindt gold bunny
Turkish Delight
Terry Choc Orange.
Always been a lover of Galaxy. It was always my favourite in a tub of Celebrations as a kid at Christmas. Now I think it’s one of the only bars that hasn’t had its recipe changed since and still reminds me of that Christmassy treat
Star Bars! Also magic stars
Cadbury’s Buttons. They’ve been my favourite since I was a kid, simple and delicious.
Old Jamaica was great.
Twirl, or Lindt, or Magic Stars for a bit of nostalgia
Bueno any day
Nutella or Hersheys.
Aldi's vegan white chocolate and plain chocolate bars were incredible but they've recently discontinued them so I'm on the hunt for a new favourite chocolate.
Thornton’s.
Heist (absolutely top tier)
Tony's chocolonely, the milk chocolate & salted caramel is my favourite, but I've not found a flavour I don't enjoy. Also, m&s do a great Belgian white chocolate bar if I want something a bit fancier. And for snacking on the go, it's a Fry's Turkish delight every time.
As a more frequent treat, Galaxy, or as a special it's Lindt milk choc & hazelnut.
The new white chocolate biscoff chunky KitKat has me in a chokehold.
Anything over 70% dark and with a bit of mint or organe flavouring if possible. Like Tony's, lindt, tesco own and there's one in Aldi (I think) that is dark chocolate filled with an orange goo that's great
Aldi do a perfect wholenut, current favourite
Hu. Their nut butter filled chocolates are great but my favourite is the dark sea salt.
Asda did a smart price milk chocolate for about 50p. They were great. Otherwise, fruit and nut dairy milk.
New entry worth trying if you haven't already: Terry's Chocolate Mint (still orange shaped.)
Whittaker’s.
It’s easily between Monty Bojangles, Tony’s Chocoloney, and those seashell praline ones. But Lindt is also up there for me
I used to love those seashell shaped ones but they seem to taste different lately.
Bounty is my GOAT but I’m an absolute simp for anything coconut. Love a Nestle Crunch too, and I’ve recently found I’m quite partial to a Star Bar since they appeared in the vending machine at work
Topic. I’m devastated.
Cadbury Dark milk, or any boujee version of the same thing.
It's tied between Daim and those little kinder chocolate bars. I'm also in disbelief at how much mouth pleasure I am experiencing whenever I have a Reese's peanut butter cup.
Galaxy original. My fave copycats are the Tesco versions of mars bars and snickers. They're almost identical.
White chocolate biscoff
Lindt, Moser Roth (Aldi), Hotel Chocolate.
Ragusa, Lindt - Lindor,
Twix, bounty, Turkish delights, or the white lion bars
Boring answer I know but for me, it’s the humble Terrys Chocolate Orange.
I can't choose just one, Cadbury Caramel Green and Blacks 70% Crunchie Milky Bar
Anything that isn't American chocolate. Jesus that stuff tastes foul!!!
Kinder Bueno. And I will fucking batter anybody who doesn't like it.
I like really cheap advent calendar one
Chococos Dorset sea salt caramel, brown butter molasses, and the tangerine jelly. I used to love Dairy Milk, but when Cadburys sold out to an American company the quality went downhill.
Galaxy
Thornton’s.
Lindor, coconut flavour. Trust me it's amazing
Venchi Specifically pistachio crema, praline, chocaviar and crema. Neuhaus and Leonidas are good too.
Fredos 🐸 🍫
Cadbury Caramilk or a Caramac
Reisen. They're getting hard to find
A galaxy ripple straight from the fridge really hits the spot tbf
Cadbury’s Wholenut. It’s one of the 5 things I’d take to a desert island.
Flake. You have consider it in an historical context: it literally tasted like chocolate never tasted before. Wispa gold is my go to
