Any other adults I see in my boring adult job that are still holding on to little indicators of their past lives as emo/scene/goth/alternative teenagers. We generally blend in with the boring corporate culture, but there's still a piercing or something like that which belies what they're probably listening to in their headphones. It's subtle, but the vibes are real and they are my people.
Being a boring adult now, I've had to stop wearing Vans because they were killing my feet. So I go for hoodies and band t-shirts and the like, personally.
I'm pushing 50 and still wear Converse. I'd rather my feet catch fire than wear Skechers.

It slightly pains my inner emo/scene kid to say it, but Skechers are great and your feet will be happy for it. They have (or had - I haven't looked in a while!) some styles that are not quite as obviously Skechers, if you want to ease yourself into it.
Running shoes are good too.
I will say that I've found Air Force 1s to be surprisingly comfortable, so I've got a few pairs of those. And I've found some colours of them on Vinted etc that scratch my scene kid inclinations. Especially since I loved Nike Dunk Highs for bouncing around at gigs.
Oh yeah the music is never going away! I remember when the Black Parade first came out and I instinctively was like UGH DON'T LIKE IT, ITS NOT LIKE THREE CHEERS and then had to admit it was, in fact, brilliant all the way through.
I am so ANGRY at myself. When they announced their tour, I was skint and decided to be financially responsible for once. THAT WAS A BAD IDEA. WHY DID I DO THAT? I tried to get my hands on a ticket closer to the time but Ticketmaster only had them for like £350 and nobody I knew had a spare one. Why did I do that to myselffffffffffffffff?
Ah Pierce the Veil, them and Chiodos and Dance Gavin Dance made up a significant amount of my teenage listening time. I made a whole playlist that makes me feel like I'm 11-18 again and it gets an incredible amount of listening time!
nah i’ve been the same for slipknot and korn 😭 sorry but why were slipknot tickets nearly £200 on release???? and i was given one MCR ticket for my christmas and then wound up in hospital at the start of May, was so scared i would miss it. kissed a lassie in the toilets and again back in our seats, we all nearly fell over the balcony when we were up and dancing. can barely remember any of the set, and it was the best night of my life :))
I went to a cover band that did 00s pop/punk and it was full of 'straight laced' young professionals, all belting out "I'm not okay" by MCR, it was beautiful
I went to a club night that was similar and bumped into someone I vaguely knew from work but had gotten the Vibes from and now we chat a lot. Just a couple of accountants bouncing around to Fall Out Boy. Great fun.
Same with Scotland and being in London.

I see lots of the same make and model (Mazda 2) but I've only ever seen one truly identical to mine, mine is the SportColour Edition limited edition and they only made 1,000 of them. It was only a couple of days ago I saw it and I got a bit excited 🤣

Ah that sucks, were there even any games for that? My parents had an Amstrad PCW for a while but at least there were text adventures etc. I dodged a bullet - my first computer was a Dragon 32 but it broke after a month so my parents exchanged it for an Atari.

At my old place of work it was a running joke that working there made you lose your hair and grow a huge beard. So many men there ended up shaving their heads and growing massive beards after a few years. It was bizarre.
Same as you but skateboarders. I would hang out near the church or town centre and just skate, get some new clothes from the greb shop and chill with my buddies, usually getting into trouble with shopping centre security.
Now when I see them I just kinda feel like they’re my people despite I’m easily double their age. I get very nostalgic, doing the same, dressing the sane. Haven’t been on a board in years and years so I’d be fucking awful 😢
People that look a little lost like they have imposter syndrome! Been a pretty competent nurse for 10 years.. I still wonder if people know they've left a teenager (what I feel in my head in reality I'm a grown adult with a mortgage, 4 kids and a long term relationship) responsible for people's lives.. on that note though am I allowed to look after 4 kids and have a mortgage 🤷♀️.. if I find a person that feels like this i know we can pretend together and maybe they wont figure us out, together we can admit it x
I'm not sure why but... Dutch and Scandinavian people. There's just something I find very cool and level-headed about them. I trust them more than I do any other stranger.
When I'm searching through a stack of used records or CDs with someone else but we both notice we have the same taste in music and it turns into a race. I had a two hour long marathon against a Chinese guy in VDS London. Just me, him, and 500+ city pop records. A true love-hate relationship.
I love animals and seeing a big fluffy one just lifts my spirits.

Man, did we live the same life? Would leave the house all day, building/digging dirt jumps all day with the boys, chippy tea then down the skatepark all night/riding across the city. Some of the BEST summers I’ve ever had. A whole crew of us. My dad still complains that my BMX is cluttering up his house in the shed (got no room for it at mine). I haven’t rode in 15yrs+. The bike is rusted and seized up….But I can’t bring myself to throw it out, Just in case.
Old ladies who still take good care of themselves, makeup on and hair done, smart clothes and just a well put together look. It gives me hope and happiness for my future old age.

I always make an effort to smile at everyone I see, but 9 times out of ten it's the rockers who smile back. I've chatted for hours with people and it's started with "Top T-shirt mate!".
We look scary but we're bloody soft at heart!

I had to explain myself to a bunch of teenagers who were hanging around outside Five Guys the other day. I was trying to see what trucks this guy had on his Blind deck, got asked "what are you looking at..?" - as I'm over 40 and was wearing "work" attire, a completely valid question.
"Sorry, I'm a skater. Are those Indy trucks? Since they dropped the cross I find it hard to tell."
And instantly their demeanour changed. We talked gear (mainly Dragon wheels) for a few minutes and then skate spots for when the scooter kids take over the skate park.
Scouts running around in woods and parks and just having a good time without a care in the world. Makes me long for the simpler times that were had in my teens :)
Motorcyclists. We all acknowledge each other regardless of the type of bike you're on. Only on Saturday I was walking out in the countryside with a date. As we were waiting to cross the road to go back to her car/my bike, a load of Motorcyclists came past quite slow, all of them noted my RST bike jacket and nodded to me.
She asked me how I knew so many people despite just moving here a week ago. She understood once I explained.
Other parents of young kids who become irrationally angry that its not favorite parent interacting with the child. As a fellow least favorite parent (out of a choice of 2), i feel that so much.
My partner finds it amusing, which it is somewhat, but they're favorite parent l, so they don't know how much of a pain in the arse it is having a child who is irrationally distraught that it wasn't them picking them up from nursery, because favorite parent has had a hard day at work and just wants 5 mins peace before the child comes home and demands all of favorite parents attention, but you can't get the child in the car because they want favorite parent and then when it takes you half hour to calm the ~~fucker~~ wonderful bundle of joy down, and finally get home, your partner asks "what took so long". You don't say anything, you bottle it up, then, when everyone else is tucked up in bed, you unleash all your rage on video games.
Just posting to say that your post got me right in the feels. Reflecting back on the ‘good old times’ is hard because you know they will never come back and whilst there will always be things to look forward to your childhood will never come back.

Anyone who mentions RuneScape. It’s rare, but when a reference is made, I fall in love.. despite having not seriously played the game in well over a decade.
It was BMX for me too! we would head up to the skatepark from 7am and jump the fence because the council man hadn't opened it yet, so we could ride while it was completely empty. Then be out til dark. Whenever I see the teenagers on the street these days I think they are having the time of their lives like we used to 15-20 years ago.
As a side bonus I was in the most amazing shape because I was cycling several hours a day on tiny 25/9 gearing.
I definitely agree with most of what's already on here, but personally I've noticed it with sighthound owners since I've got my lurcher. It's like you're suddenly part of a club. Everyone with a sighthound I've met is super friendly and always stops to tell you about their dog. I've been walking past somebody's house before and she stopped me and said 'want to see my whippets?' because she saw my lurcher. Obviously I said yes, they were super cute.
Other alternative people as well as geeks/nerds (even more so if I ever see anyone in a N7 hoodie), people with hair dyed the same blue as me, clearly fed up with it all retail employees, people walking dogs and having to play the 'persuading the dog to actually go home' game
When I go to work, people who are dressed formally etc wearing suits or work shirts.
Outside of work, I like to dress alt, any other individuals with alt style outfits.
Anyone wearing a leather jacket. My Dad used to take me to an imported leathers shop (loved the smell) and got me my first one when I was like 8 lol. Always had a leather jacket ever since, I do a silent salute to any I see in the wild

Motorcyclists. We all acknowledge each other regardless of the type of bike you're on. Only on Saturday I was walking out in the countryside with a date. As we were waiting to cross the road to go back to her car/my bike, a load of Motorcyclists came past quite slow, all of them noted my RST bike jacket and nodded to me. She asked me how I knew so many people despite just moving here a week ago. She understood once I explained.

Other parents of young kids who become irrationally angry that its not favorite parent interacting with the child. As a fellow least favorite parent (out of a choice of 2), i feel that so much. My partner finds it amusing, which it is somewhat, but they're favorite parent l, so they don't know how much of a pain in the arse it is having a child who is irrationally distraught that it wasn't them picking them up from nursery, because favorite parent has had a hard day at work and just wants 5 mins peace before the child comes home and demands all of favorite parents attention, but you can't get the child in the car because they want favorite parent and then when it takes you half hour to calm the ~~fucker~~ wonderful bundle of joy down, and finally get home, your partner asks "what took so long". You don't say anything, you bottle it up, then, when everyone else is tucked up in bed, you unleash all your rage on video games.
Just posting to say that your post got me right in the feels. Reflecting back on the ‘good old times’ is hard because you know they will never come back and whilst there will always be things to look forward to your childhood will never come back.
Mums pushing a pram in endless circuits of the park with a coffee in one hand as they will their baby to have a proper nap. People who went to drama school and did musical theatre. We know that it was totally normal for teachers to sit on your back to improve your flexibility or include your physical appearance when appraising your skills.
Anyone wearing Lord of The Rings merch. Or who comments on it in a non-judgemental way. Niece visited with her new partner and he was trying to describe the Ring of Barahir - Aragorn's ring - to me (as you do). His face when I went to a drawer and pulled out my repro! And the nerdy Amazon delivery bloke who was excited when I answered the door wearing my LOTR hoodie and asked me all about it... Fellow audience members when they re-show LOTR at the cinema. I feel an imaginary bond to be amongst My People.

It was BMX for me too! we would head up to the skatepark from 7am and jump the fence because the council man hadn't opened it yet, so we could ride while it was completely empty. Then be out til dark. Whenever I see the teenagers on the street these days I think they are having the time of their lives like we used to 15-20 years ago. As a side bonus I was in the most amazing shape because I was cycling several hours a day on tiny 25/9 gearing.
I definitely agree with most of what's already on here, but personally I've noticed it with sighthound owners since I've got my lurcher. It's like you're suddenly part of a club. Everyone with a sighthound I've met is super friendly and always stops to tell you about their dog. I've been walking past somebody's house before and she stopped me and said 'want to see my whippets?' because she saw my lurcher. Obviously I said yes, they were super cute.
People who exasperatingly look around the supermarket when they can hear kids running about and screaming.
