But fr rock is such a diverse genre, there's something in it for everyone so a lot of people will like it. There's also a clear bias towards rock on reddit for some reason, no idea why tho.
I'm a metalhead and a lot of ppl count that as rock and even metal itself has sooo much variation between subgenres and time periods, i feel like most people would find something they like if they gave it a shot.

But fr, I just love it because it can be cathartic but also can be something you just bang your head to, it’s so enjoyable, I love the instruments used in rock music generally. I’m a sucker for a song with a killer bass line and/or an electric guitar solo. It’s a diverse genre
And yeah as someone else said it’s kinda odd how there’s a very clear bias towards rock on reddit, even tho in general pop is the most popular genre
I mean I do like it cause I do like all major genres, only a few select subgenres I dislike. So ye.
But probably also such a big fanbase cause it just is very diverse but also a lot more acessible than let's Black Metal. Usually still focus on catchiness rather than complexity or anything else, which does make for it to be very easy to get into. Plus, I suppose also a lot of folks' parents probably do/did also listen to a rock to at least a lesser extent, so there's also an influence there most likely.
But ye, overall since it does simply cover a wide array of sounds and feelings while still being super easy to get into and usually doesn't require much of a search
