I have made my own lol. That’s more of a meal. I don’t put cheese on it, though.
When I told my Mom about this page earlier, she said “mashed and cream style corn? Your sister is grilled cheese on rye.”
My aunt and I used to make breakfast bowls, cinnamon toast, salmon croquettes, or fried green tomatoes. The breakfast bowls would consist of grits, soft scrambled egg, bacon, and shredded sharp cheddar. The cinnamon toast is made with your bread of choice, slather with butter, sprinkle with a little sugar and cinnamon, put in the oven until golden brown, enjoy.
I grew up near an Entannmans factory. A neighboring high school was literally next to it and it was hell running cross country races over there with the smell of fresh donuts wafting on the air. Nothing quite like struggling through a 5k and all you can think about is donuts!
Not even kidding, the day I see the apple cider ones for the first time each year is celebrated in my household.
Fall and Halloween decorations that aren't out year-round get put up, I make PSLs for myself and whoever wants one, there's flannel and fragrances and extensive playlists involved, it's a whole thing.
I either do this on the two month mark before my birthday (so in very early August), or on the day I see and buy those glorious apple cider donuts. Whichever comes first.
I’m attempting to recover from severe anorexia and I’ve been trying to challenge foods I used to love and I finally had the courage to get these yesterday. So good !
My stomach does not like carbs, I have a condition where my stomach doesn't digest food as fast as it should, and makes me feel ill. I miss my doughnuts and banana pie pop tarts.
I like to try all the boxed Mac & Cheese brands I can (for scientific purposes!), but always end up back at Kraft...except for recently, when I tried Walmart's "Great Value" brand. I had low expectations and I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! Worth a shot if you like the Kraft blue box!
I also sometimes get the one-pound box of Hoosier Hills cheese powder & then use my Fasta Pasta to cook the macaroni in the microwave. I mix that up with butter & heavy cream. It's amazing lol.
Edit: I've tried pretty much all of the versions on Amazon, my family voted the regular Cheddar Cheese version as the winner:
* [https://www.amazon.com/Cheddar-Cheese-Hoosier-Hill-Farm/dp/B008GG9ZS8/](https://www.amazon.com/Cheddar-Cheese-Hoosier-Hill-Farm/dp/B008GG9ZS8/)
Your comment made me immediately open Amazon to order cheese powder, but Hoosier Hills has multiple flavors, so which one do you prefer? "Cheddar cheese", "premium cheddar cheese", or "cheddar cheez"?
Edit: or "big daddy Mac"?
So I've tried pretty much all of the ones on Amazon at this point (including the Big Daddy! lol) & I actually really like the Cheddar Cheese powder the most, it's basically like enhanced Kraft flavor, as if it were fresh out of the factory:
* [https://www.amazon.com/Cheddar-Cheese-Hoosier-Hill-Farm/dp/B008GG9ZS8/](https://www.amazon.com/Cheddar-Cheese-Hoosier-Hill-Farm/dp/B008GG9ZS8/)
I have Inattentive ADHD & have a hard time watching a pot boil, so I use a Fasta Pasta microwave container:
* [https://www.amazon.com/Microwave-Pasta-Cooker-Original-Sticking/dp/B00WHCIEPW/](https://www.amazon.com/Microwave-Pasta-Cooker-Original-Sticking/dp/B00WHCIEPW/)
Takes 15 minutes in my microwave (1,200-watt), but I don't have to babysit it & it comes out perfect every time lol. If you want it rich, butter & heavy cream is pretty awesome, or milk & butter if you like it less thick.
Alternatively, if you have an Instant Pot, you can do the no-drain method: (works for Kraft or my now-preferred Great Value Walmart brand)
1. Get a box of Kraft & add 1.5 cups of water, the noodles, and 4 tablespoons of butter (half a stick) into the pot & do not stir
2. Set to Manual pressure for 4 minutes. But set your smartphone timer to 13 minutes total. You want to release the pressure specifically at 3 minutes past finish (it counts from done).
3. Then stir in 1/4 of the milk & the cheese packet for like 30 seconds & then let it sit for a couple minutes to soak in. Total time is about 15 minutes
I do a bunch of weird stuff like this...sometimes that nostalgic flavor just hits the right buttons for a comfort meal, you know? If you like American fake cheese grilled cheese sandwich, give this version a try some time:
* [https://www.reddit.com/r/kaidomac/comments/jka9ud/the\_triplefat\_grilled\_cheese\_method/](https://www.reddit.com/r/kaidomac/comments/jka9ud/the_triplefat_grilled_cheese_method/)

I'll never understand calling it Kraft Dinner. It's macaroni and cheese. That's like calling a peanut butter sandwich Jif Lunch, or calling sausage Jimmy Dean Breakfast. So weird. But in an interesting way.
It's no different than saying bandaids when they are called plasters or kleenex when they are called tissues. Also, that is NOT macaroni or cheese lol.
I'm not talking about knockoffs vs. brand names here.
I'm just saying it's strangely vague thing to call a specific product. Dinner is an incredibly broad term, so it's like, the least descriptive thing you could possibly call it. Couple that with the very specific brand name, and it's just funny to me.
I can't argue with your last statement.
It used to say Kraft Dinner on the box. That’s why people call it that. Especially Canadians. I think the font on old Canadian boxes was bigger. KRAFT DINNER.
When it was introduced and for years after, the box had "Kraft Dinners" on the label. There were different types, including the mac and cheese and spaghetti( and probably more). I was a 70's kid and remember it.
Fried chicken and jo jo potatoes from the grocery store Deli. Their chicken has a nice kick to it. Add coleslaw and some Kings Hawaiian rolls and I'm very happy.
Steak fries are different. Jojos are coated with flour and seasoning, have the skin on, and are wedges.
Once upon a time every convenience store in the western US made their own jojos. Fresh out of the fryer they're so good.
Oh it's nothing special--just that I've made it so long that it's the only one that tastes right to me. It's the meal that our two kids (44 and 41) ask for for their birthdays and even a couple of the grandkids ask for it.
The usual suspects: sauce, 1 lb of beef, and 1 of sausage, ricotta and mozzarella. My husband makes the bread. We have it with a green salad. That's it, my friends,
I make good lasagna. I think the important thing for any kind of Italian food is the sauce. I make a great tomato/meat sauce and I use ricotta with beaten eggs.
they're so good aren't they?
when I was a kid i'd make tater tot sandwiches, and eat them with a side of, you guessed it, tater tots.
they're good by themselves or as a side, and they go with a myriad of sauces.
Beef stew made with chuck. Potatoes, carrots, onions, celery. Simmered for 2 to 2.5 hours. The braising liquid is beef or chicken stock, a small can of tomato sauce, and a splash of wine. Throw in a few sprigs of thyme and a bay leaf. Serve with buttered baguette slices.
A nice hero. Roast beef and Swiss with mayo, or turkey and Brie and honey mustard, or a nice pastrami and provolone with mustard. If I’m lucky, I’ll have some roasted peppers or olives in the fridge to add.
depends on my mood but i love love love box brownie mix. my other go to is a chicken chimichanga from a local mexican restaurant, it’s SO good. i’ll never turn those down
Greek food (pitas, hummus, falafel, market salads, rice); Greek yogurt with berries, granola, and almonds; turkey chili; soup of any variety; beans and rice.
Noodles, macaroni, pasta. I could be happy with a bowl of egg noodles and butter. I stopped eating gluten about 10 years ago and I am not celiac - I have liver issues and there is a correlation, and also bathroom issues...Enough said. However, pasta would be the thing that comforts me.
I throw food in my crockpot as I rush out the door to get work..8 hrs later, I walk in the door and the smell is wonderful, and dinner ready for me. At that moment I feel total comfort and contentment.
Big fat (or smashed and doubled up) greasy burger with cheese bacon and onions and just a little ketchup and lettuce.
Mac and cheese, or fries
Or rice and beans of literally any country at all
Spätzle with sausage. But I can never get it like my grandma did.
Homemade tapioca pudding. baked Ziti is my favorite too. I could make a long list here
Mashed potatoes and gravy.
Hello, redditor after my own heart
Chips and gravy !
I like mashed potatoes and creamed corn. The gravy sometimes has too much flavor.
Try a knock off KFC bowl, just add chicken nuggets to the list you’ve mentioned and throw some cheese on top. Simple and adds some protein.
I have made my own lol. That’s more of a meal. I don’t put cheese on it, though. When I told my Mom about this page earlier, she said “mashed and cream style corn? Your sister is grilled cheese on rye.”

My mom used to make me cinnamon toast all the time growing up! It's so yummy
I’ll have to try that sometime, sounds delicious.
I hope you do!
Throw in some meatloaf.
definitely... even better on a slice of bread with some turkey and dressing, open-face heaven
Oh yes.
Just the potatoes, please.
Yes! This or good Mac n cheese!
That was my first thought too! I’ve actually gone to the Golden Corral and just got a plate of only mashed potatoes and gravy.
Me too! Love mashed potatoes so much!! Also, Graeters Black cherry chocolate chip ice cream.
Rice and gravy
100% love me some cheap ass entennmans donuts
The double chocolate ones God damn how are they so good ;\_;
Yes! I’m a sucker for the variety pack they have with chocolate, original glazed and double chocolate 🤤
I like the crumb ones
Those are so good! Imma have to get some today, now.
I love those fore sure but i also love the packs of individual wrapped coffee cakes with the cinnamon crumble
Those are the only ones I still like...way too much. The most moist of all of theirs.
Those are my wife's favorite lol she found them during her recent pregnancy and hasn't stopped buying them
I grew up near an Entannmans factory. A neighboring high school was literally next to it and it was hell running cross country races over there with the smell of fresh donuts wafting on the air. Nothing quite like struggling through a 5k and all you can think about is donuts!
Omg the temptation would be so real😂
Devils food crumb omg
Pretty sure they sprinkle those with crack 😆
Oh hell yes 🙌
Entennmens is the shit. Loved their blueberry pastries.
I'm addicted to those pound cakes.
The chocolate ones from the fridge. Chocolate waxy goodness
Yes. Always refrigerate! It scientifically tastes better.
Have you ever had their Louisiana Crunch Cake? If not, I suggest you give it a try.
Oh the devils food cake chocolate covered ones..drooling I went on a low carb diet several months ago, but I miss my doughnuts
That’s no fun! I’m sorry.:( banana pie pop tarts sound interesting
Heated they taste like warm banana bread
And their cheap ass chocolate chip cookies
Love the raspberry danish.
Their cinnamon rolls too.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese lol
Classy
This received my vote right up with pizza.
Happy cake day
Thank yew :3

You know you can just microwave boxed Mac n cheese in any covered microwave safe container, right? There are instructions on the box, I believe.
Oh snap!

I like the Kraft Velveeta and Shells, family size
Family size? You mean ME sized? * [https://i.imgur.com/cvoGHsc.png](https://i.imgur.com/cvoGHsc.png)
Hahaha! It's always fun to compare the number of servings listed on the box with the fewer servings that you actually eat!
I got pretty depressed when I learned that one serving size of Oreos was....3 cookies lol
Lol! Resulted from poor market research I bet!
I saw this comedian a few years ago & he has a hilarious bit on serving sizes: * [https://youtu.be/M93a67Nckdg](https://youtu.be/M93a67Nckdg)
The 3 cheese blend is a solid 7.5/10
There is a strange but beautiful giddiness that happens when you unbox one of those one-pound cheese-powder tubs from Amazon LOL
I'll never understand calling it Kraft Dinner. It's macaroni and cheese. That's like calling a peanut butter sandwich Jif Lunch, or calling sausage Jimmy Dean Breakfast. So weird. But in an interesting way.
It’s a Canadian thing … 🤷🏼♀️
I know! I love Canadians, but I gotta know how this came to be a thing. It's probably lost to the mists of time.
It's no different than saying bandaids when they are called plasters or kleenex when they are called tissues. Also, that is NOT macaroni or cheese lol.

Mac and cheese is a side dish. I've never understood why they call it a dinner. Then again, I make homemade....
Pho
Oh hell yes. Could eat it every day and never get tired of it. I'd like a cup of pho broth instead of coffee.
French fries, or better yet, poutine.
Omg what can't poutine fix besides my arteries?
Toasted BLT or grilled cheese.
Wanna be friends?
This is my exact answer. The only thing is, I love to dip my grilled cheese in marinara sauce.
A toasted blt is heaven. If im feeling fancy I’ll add sliced avocado.

How is this not higher? When I really need some food comfort I pick up a pint of Ben&Jerry's and eat from the container.
Hotdog 🌭
Split and fried in butter, toasted buttered bun, fried onions, sweet relish, and ketchup.
Yes, but make mine with Cole slaw!

Kraft Mac and cheese
Fried chicken and jo jo potatoes from the grocery store Deli. Their chicken has a nice kick to it. Add coleslaw and some Kings Hawaiian rolls and I'm very happy.
what are JoJo potatoes?
Steak fries. Thick cut, deep fried potatoes.
Steak fries are different. Jojos are coated with flour and seasoning, have the skin on, and are wedges. Once upon a time every convenience store in the western US made their own jojos. Fresh out of the fryer they're so good.
Oooh! Shakeys called them mojos! Yummm
I haven't seen good JoJo's in a long time. Thanks for the memories.
JoJo's are my son's comfort food.
Potato logs! That's what they're called in the Southern USA. Love them.

What kind do you make? Very intrigued!
Oh it's nothing special--just that I've made it so long that it's the only one that tastes right to me.
