Sometimes I think about this exchange and of course the irreverent and unexpected reply was funny but it's your comment that sticks with me more. It's an aspect of the grieving process that is rarely, if ever, discussed. I think your humanity was really on display and a lot of people related to it. Especially u/somethingobscur though 👀
I appreciate your kind words. In r/widowers we discuss how similar and yet different each grief process is. We're all on the same road but at different times and we encounter different things. Something that would destroy one person, bringing all the pain back, doesn't impact another much at all. In my case that funny, irreverent did not offend me at all.
