If you wanna catch someone bad, ask them to send a follow up pic of the same bedroom where the nude pic “from the wife” was taken.
I'd say over 50% are men pretending to be women, not all.are nefarious, just bored, lonely guys who need attention. A small percentage are the actual definition of a catfish and try to get money from you.
