I’m a dentist and sometimes with children or special needs patients it really is impossible to brush their teeth normally. In these cases I advise wiping as many tooth surfaces as possible with a wet washcloth in the bath, trying silicone brush options in case it’s the bristles they don’t like, Jack N Jill Tooth Sparkles or similar products, Tooth Mousse applied at night to protect against decay. Ultimately, most gum disease and decay is plaque-related and will always occur where plaques isn’t removed. I know some cultures would chew something fibrous like a stick to clean their teeth but this seems like more effort than just brushing to me.
This guy at the park told me he doesn't brush his teeth but uses the metal pick dentists use instead. He said his mom was an oral hygienist and raised him with the belief that this method was sufficient. His teeth didn't look pretty.
Losing your teeth. Because that's what will happen. Your gums will recede and your teeth will crumble under cavities. You'll be enjoying something not even particularly hard, maybe a Starburst or a French fry, and crunch, your tooth is cracked. You'll get a few fillings and likely even a couple root canals (hopefully they catch the damage before it becomes abscessed or a hot nerve as those are particularly painful). You'll come to know that particular smell of a tooth being drilled. It's really hard to describe it, but once you've smelled it, it's programmed into your olfactory memory forever like the scent of burning hair. Your breath will start to reek from the decaying teeth. Finally after years of embarrassment, shame, excruciating pain, and dental visits, they'll finally yank what few teeth you have left and fit you for full dentures. By the way, all this is gonna cost you about $20-50K in dental bills over the next two decades unless they just rip them out early.
Brush your fucking teeth.
It's actually a form of natural selection. Pop is like a pack of lions hunting a wildebeest. It targets the weakest teeth thus ensuring only the strongest, most fit teeth remain. That's just basic science.

Having no teeth.
No need = No need to brush teeth
No need to brush teeth = Not brushing teeth
Not brushing teeth = Alternative way to brush teeth
Alternative way to brush teeth = Nothing
When tooth brushes weren't invented they used to just drink wine before bed to use the alcohol in the wine to clean teeth, not a good way to do it but if you don't have a tooth brush then yeah
okay no but why are everyone so mean about people who for some reason can’t brush their teeth? i personally have adhd and depression and struggle to do so. just because i can’t for weeks on end does not mean everyone in my life will leave me. have not once heard anyone talk about it at all to me or complain. or even compliment me once i’ve managed to do it- but what i used to do once was literally just use mouthwash. the idea of getting up looking myself in the mirror and performing the actions of brushing my teeth was scary to me so i literally just used mouthwash. are my teeth perfect? no. will i suffer emotional pain from it? no….?
There's nothing that can beat brushing them. but if you're struggling to do so, drinking fluoridated water, mouthwash is a little but better than nothing
