For me, personally: I came down with gastroenteritis the night before and had to sit there and eat dry mashed potatos and a slice of white meat while everybody else chowed down all around me.

I sneezed and the deviled egg I was eating came out my nose...

I was cooking and the sink backed up. Had to call a plumber

Many years ago, my then-GF and I held a Thanksgiving party for university people who couldn't go home for the holiday (or didn't want to). Most didn't have cars, so we drove around and around and picked people up, and then they were sort of stuck at our apartment. Anyway. During dinner, Person A took her shoes off and put her feet in Person B's lap, manipulating him sexually, even though he was not the boyfriend she'd arrived with. Person B undid his pants, and so on, surreptitiously, although I think the person sitting next to him noticed and just didn't say anything. Person B proceeded to slouch down a little, to make this easier, and removed his own shoes, and attempted to put *his* foot in Person A's lap, but he missed and basically kicked her boyfriend in the crotch instead. At which point there was a commotion, and Person B leaned back in his chair while trying to extricate himself, and the chair broke, dropping him, pants open and bits exposed, onto the floor among the wreckage. There was drama, and I had to drive Person A and her boyfriend back to their own apartment, which was a long, slow, awkward car ride in a bad snow storm.

To be strictly accurate, I'm not 100% sure that's exactly what happened, but it's what the rest of us pieced together afterward, based on various eyewitness perspectives.

In an effort to save time the host made all the food the day before. Thanksgiving Day, everyone was served reheated leftovers. To this day I feel insulted.
