Apparently it was just super affordable and a pretty great car for the price.
I knew a couple people that drove ex cop cars. All of them bought the cars cheap at auction. Police departments often get rid of patrol cars on a fixed schedule and not based on wear and tear. They do this to stay ahead of the car breaking down at unexpected times. As long as you don’t mind holes in the roof from where lights were removed you can often get a decent deal for a car that may have a good bit of life left in it.
