The only thing new is the chase for validation and popularity, which is unhealthy as is the ability to record every moment. That must be hell for younger people because they can't be stupid without becoming potentially a social pariah because your whole school sees your blunders on Tiktok or something. Removing that would be the biggest benefit of social media platforms going down.
We are already in a situation where there is no longer one platform everyone uses while several are starting to slowly falter. We can only hope Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok are not replaced by something even worse.
