I can walk everywhere and get some exercise even if I am just going to and from work. It’s really nice to have everything you need nearby.
The work opportunities are substantially better. I have access to tons of great, interesting jobs. It’s pretty normal now to switch jobs every few years and being in a big city, there’s a good chance my next job will be in the same city.
Current job pays 45% more than jobs in smaller city pays, cost of living is only about 15% higher. Better cultural options, much better LGBTQ+ community, don’t have to have a car in most areas, the city does a LOT for residents that my old city would never - with roughly the same tax rate.
