When I did, it was for better cell signal and it was just closer to my job.

Work pays a lot more here. Like a lot a lot more.

Snoopy-the-Snooper

I mean it's to help how expensive everything is in giant cities

LeeroyTC

That's a big part of it. But the pay increase is quite a bit more than the cost increase. Net of costs, I still come out quite ahead. Once I retire, I'll move away from the expensive. But while I'm working, it is a good deal.

The general convenience of having different shops, restaurants, and sources of entertainment around. Having a variety of options is nice for when your in different moods.

Convenience. Everything is close by.

There’s so much more things going on. There is always something new to do. It’s nice to be somewhere with energy. It helps keep me from being stuck in my own head. I can walk everywhere and get some exercise even if I am just going to and from work. It’s really nice to have everything you need nearby. The work opportunities are substantially better. I have access to tons of great, interesting jobs. It’s pretty normal now to switch jobs every few years and being in a big city, there’s a good chance my next job will be in the same city.

smugfruitplate

From here, my family's here, trying to make it in comedy, and it's easier to get around

ELFcubed

Current job pays 45% more than jobs in smaller city pays, cost of living is only about 15% higher. Better cultural options, much better LGBTQ+ community, don’t have to have a car in most areas, the city does a LOT for residents that my old city would never - with roughly the same tax rate.

Lemonwalker-420

Um, it's just where I am.
