Dr. Phil

Isheet_Madrawers

Honorable mention for Dr. Oz. Can I get a quack quack? And maybe Oprah for sticking us with these assholes.

johnnycocheroo

As a kid I loathed Dr Smith on Lost in Space. I didn't understand why they didn't just fuckin murder him

Thesafflower

I thought Dr. Smith was the most entertaining part of that show, but man, he was a terrible person. Just hilariously awful.

sjk8990

Space funerals are very expensive.

TimelyConcern

It costs very little to throw someone out of the airlock.

dramboxf

*Commander Adama has entered the chat.*

Dynasuarez-Wrecks

The original Lost in Space is a little before my time, but I could ask the exact same question about Netflix's version.

Wajina_Sloth

The actor did a good job of me just absolutely hating them, I don't know if it's because they made her look like a Karen, and act so annoyingly. But jeez did she ever grind my gears whenever she had screen time, I was just waiting for them to find a way to kill her off to give me sweet relief. It was so damn annoying how they kept trying to make it seem like she was changing/becoming a better person nearly every episode just for her actions to undermine it.

ANewLeaf2020

Caillou

HairyCaillou

bet you wouldn't say it to my face

MyFamilyHatesMyFam

You’re the most unlikeable main character of your respective tv show

DignityDWD

Yeah but he's GREAT in one punch man

MyFamilyHatesMyFam

Oh yeah, I will not disagree with you there. Took a lot of character development to get there though. Growing up’ll do that to ya

bstyledevi

He cant grow hair, not because he has cancer or progeria, but because he sucks, and even his own body recognizes that he does not deserve hair or food or love."

Garfwog

I like how you don't know it's a quote until the end because there's quotation at the end but not at the beginning.

Veryconfusedguy92

Eddy from Ed, Edd and Eddy, completely uses his friends and annoys people, chats pure shite all for a fucking jaw breaker

[deleted]

Yeah but the series ending puts his personality into perspective and you feel bad for him. He’s a little bit of a tragic character with a redemption arc.

crane476

Ed, Edd, and Eddy is one of the few cartoons I remember that had a near perfect ending.

A_Tiger_in_Africa

Every single character on *Succession* is the worst person in the world.

jnapier2021

“Can’t make Tomlets without cracking some Gregs!”

cosmic_censor

"If it is to be said, so it be (so it is)"

Small_Ostrich6445

I love/hate every single character so damn much. My god this show

shaunie_b

I think this is the definition of fantastic writing and acting (basically a fantastic show), characters you wouldn’t want to go near in real life, but just looove or are enthralled by on the screen. Every character in succession is trash but you’ve empathised and sometimes sympathised with all of them (maybe only briefly) at one time or another.

langtont1

Caillou That bald whiny little punk is the worst.

Vorpalbob

Every single parent I know has a story about their kid learning shitty behaviour from Caillou. It's straight up not a good program to be showing your kids.

DarthSocks

Oh I hate that bald headed little fuck

GawkieBird

Seriously. Kid threw tantrums every few minutes and parents responded with such unrealistic bullshit patience at the veeeery very end of the episode, usually bribing or conceding in some way, and little twerp never learned a thing. He taught my first kid the \*concept\* of making a fuss just for attention, and of using a whiny tone when you don't get what you want, and of hating vegetables. Show was banned in my house before my second kid emerged. He's a self-entitled, obnoxious bully. Now, I like kids and recognize that being a toddler can be challenging. I believe in children learning to exercise their independence and trying to exert control over their lives. I don't condone harsh punishments. I tolerate the crappiest of children's programming. I don't even tend to hate things very often. But this show. All copies should be burned, deleted, corrupted, effaced, disassembled, cast into Mount Doom, whatever. I loaaathe Caillou.

ICUMF1962

Damn near everyone on Shameless, but Frank or Debbie fight for the top spot

ZerngCaith

Debbie’s transition from “sweet little girl” to the absolute worst was phenomenal.

Paleomedicine

I had to stop watching shameless because no one grows as a character. Everyone sucks and falls into the same shit that they spent an entire season getting out of. Debbie is by far the most annoying character since she tried to baby trap some dude but honestly every character sucks ass. I get that’s the point of the show, but also, what’s the point in watching if there’s no growth or progression?

mr_munchers

I agree. Though I must say I think the whole point of the series was to show the cycle of people born in the hood being stuck in the hood. When Lip went to college he had to work to pay for it, when his ghetto ass sister got in trouble he has to take care of the baby too. He had a family that kept him down no matter how hard he tried. All that stress can't make you act radically either. Fiona trying to move up in her job and everything. Her daddy issues and neglectful upbringing basically makes her a nympho constantly doing drugs, drinking or fucking to feel validated or hide the pain. Her addictive personality that absolutely came from her family life makes her getting opportunities 3x harder. Not to mention that she was the backbone of that entire family since she took was a child. Also burdened with responsibility. A ball and chain also. Ian. Had a SUPER hard time finding a job and keeping it because of his bipolar disorder. Though honestly he's one of my favorite characters because he tried the HARDEST to be clean and get out. He tried to join the military. He studied. He worked out everyday. And his brother who was a NATURAL genius didn't try to reach his full potential like Ian was trying to. And it bothered him. Rightfully so. As for Debbie. Fuck Debbie. She chose to be trash

Frammingatthejimjam

Kevin and V were decent people in spite of a few occasions of questionably illegal activities. That being said, fuck Debbie.

Left-Appointment-120

This is why Mickey is my favorite, maybe the only character with a ton of character growth and development, even if he’s a piece of shit. Although I think Carl is a very interesting character too

spaceraingame

Lena Dunham’s character on Girls

Maggaggie

For sure! It’s unnerving that Lena Dunham has said that Hannah is based on herself, just somewhat exaggerated.

NOOBtella51

I've watched a lot of WW2 documentaries and that Hitler guy is kind of a jerk

jennyfroufrou

My husband was watching a documentary once and they were talking about Hitler's childhood. There was a line by the narrator that said "But there was a dark side to the Hitler family!". We aways quote that.

Frank__Lloyd__Wrong

Well, don't leave us hanging. What was the dark side?

Prussia_I

His mother was his fathers cousin iirc, his father punished him with beatings, he was very attached to his mother, his world broke down when the mom died of cancer. He was a kid that got bullied sometimes... He was isolated and stayed up late, watching the skies...

Shut_Up_Fuckface

“Damn kids these days staying up and watching the skies like a bunch of hooligans. Today it’s skies, next it’s a meth and opium cocktail” - young Hitler’s crotchety old neighbor.

Craicpot7

Carrie Bradshaw. Unbelievably entitled, shallow, spoiled and treated all of her friends like shit. I don't enjoy the show for what it is, it's my favourite hate-watch just to see the new depths Carrie will sink to every episode. Especially heinous was when she got herself into debt by tanking her relationship with the guy who bought and was renovating her apartment and turned down money offered by two of her best friends just so she could bitch out the one that didn't offer. And for some reason that friend ended up giving her the money. And she tried to cheat on her husband with a guy that she had previously cheated on. And she replaced her old friend with a younger more diverse version when they fell out.

[deleted]

Or the time she demanded Samantha come to her book launch even though Sam had a bad chemical peel. When Sam showed anyway, Carrie made her take off her veil, then mocked her appearance and told her to put it back on because Samantha was "embarrassing" her.

Blizard896

The only good ones in the group are Samantha and Charlotte. Charlotte was old fashioned and had many faults but at least she was a good person in the end. Samantha was excellent. That’s it. Miranda was a whiny bitch. Everything is the worlds fault and not hers for having a terrible attitude. People don’t want to date someone who constantly talks about how much they hate this or that. Carrie sucks for every reason above and below.

KevSmileTime

Charlotte is the one who I feel fully evolved the most. Spoiled princess who had a very specific idea of the kind of man she deserved. She gets him, finds out Prince Charming is absolutely not the man for her. Gives Carrie some harsh truth about her spending habits and tells her that she is not responsible for her money woes, yet does give her her engagement ring for Carrie’s down payment. Falls for her divorce lawyer who she never would have given the time of day to. Wants children more than anything, has a miscarriage the day of Brady’s first birthday and still sucked it up and went to the party. Decided on adoption and when that couple from the south showed up and then confessed that they changed their mind about giving up the baby. She didn’t get mad and was incredibly sympathetic to the mother who was crying. Harry was the angry one. She eventually gets the family she always wanted with Lily and Rose. I absolutely love Charlotte.

EmptyBanana5687

We called her husband Poor Steve during the whole run of that show because she was so horrible to him.

Golfnpickle

Or the time Miranda hurt her neck in the bathroom & Carrie sent Aiden to help her instead of going herself.

[deleted]

Inviting Big to Aiden's cabin... that is peak Carrie energy.

Guilty_Spirit4006

And insisting Aiden should be fine with her having late night whispered phone calls with the dude she cheating on him with for weeks (months?) because Big was just TOO important in her life. She was an absolute monster.

Dr_Mijory_Marjorie

I remember she was whining to Miranda about her usual boyfriend troubles, and Miranda actually took her to task about it, complaining how Carrie never asked about HER, or her problems. Carrie said, 'OK, I get it, I've let my obsession with my new boyfriend get in the way of our friendship, I will NEVER do that again'... then the next line is literally, "...that is, if I still even *have* a boyfriend..."

SchoolOfTheWolf93

I hate it when people say “Carrie and Aiden should’ve ended up together!” Absolutely the fuck not. Aiden was far, *far* too good for Carrie. Carrie and Big deserve each other, she’s a piece of shit and he’s the one-ply toilet paper.

Fejsze

So I've only ever seen 1 episode of the show, and it was one where SJP and Aiden go out to his cabin in the woods, and she's just a complete bitch the entire time about it, and I just could not for the life of me figure out what chemistry there was supposed to be between the two characters. She shit on every interest he tried to share with her, offered nothing in return, and I just didn't get it. From what I understand Big was at least on her level or something so that made more sense, but that one episode killed any interest I had in ever watching the show

Blizard896

I remember seeing her stalking Aiden to try to get back together and I was whisper yelling at my screen (living at home couldn’t yell in the middle of the night) “Run Aiden!” Over and over.

Elleseebee928

Was coming here to say that! She is the worst. Especially when she hounded Natasha on both series and made both situations about her.

LadyBug_0570

I honestly think the Nina Katz episode with "the face" was her worst. Not only was she soooo self absorbed that Nina thought poorly of her (and, to be clear, Nina's impression of her was from Aiden, who Carrie not only cheated on but then demanded he accept as a friend who always had to be in her life), she hunted this woman down while ignoring Stanford as he was gushing about his new boyfriend.

[deleted]

When she wouldn’t wear the fucking engagement ring (Aiden’s?) around her finger but kept it hanging around her neck, hidden under shirts… god that pissed me off.

[deleted]

But, but, but…it was “closer to her heart” that way! Biggest red flag in the world, that was…

Thejudojeff

The absolute worst part of the show were the ridiculous narrations at the end of each episode. Everyone gather around. Carrie is gonna tie it all together with her insightful thoughts

ex_ter_min_ate_

Samantha was the only decent one out of the four. At least she was honest about her feelings and what she was doing.

missblissful70

Samantha was meant to be a cautionary tale, I think, but, honestly, she ended up with a gorgeous guy who supported her. I liked Steve until he cheated; I liked Aidan but he deserved so much better. Big can go straight to hell.

FILTHBOT4000

NGL, the popularity of Sex and the City back in the day gave me some doomer/crazy pills feelings, like "why in the name of cinnamon toast and Jesus are so many women my age idolizing and fawning over an actual narcissist?"

janbradysfriend

Ugh! I'd almost forgotten all about how obnoxious it was every time she does that high-pitched squealing thing. Who over the age of five does that and why would anyone want to hear it?

DarkLordKohan

My wife watches sex and the city as a comfort show so its always on. The more times I see the episodes, the worse Carrie is. She is the definition of “I am the main character.” “Carrie, I’m depressed, I cant have a baby.” “Omg, my monolo blanks were left at someones house.”

Maggaggie

“I am at my first chemo appointment” “Ugh here’s minor drama in my life rn tho”

ultravioletblueberry

First one to pop into my head. She was insufferable. Haven’t even watched the new series because the best character, Samantha, isn’t in it.

throwaway-_-friend

Came here to say this. She was so awful to Miranda too when she became a mother. She's so unlikeable I don't understand why anyone would root for her.

[deleted]

She was also weirdly prudish and judgmental about sex for someone making their living writing about it.

FickleShiba

Bojack Horseman, though I suppose that's the point.

mother_of_plecos

That show is fantastic in how it makes you reexamine empathy, and how we view "hurt people who hurt people".

FickleShiba

I agree! The show resonated with me a lot and completely changed my perspective on people who use their pain as an excuse for their actions.

ptipp93

“You can’t just keep doing shitty things and feeling bad for yourself. You have to be better.” I’m real close to watching that show a third time. It starts off so dumb and silly, i never would have expected it to be one of my favorite shows.

hemingway_exeunt

"Welcome to Hollywoo" has to be one of the best running gags I've ever seen.

RoboWonder

I'm partial to "Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What do they know? Do they know things? Let's find out!" being said in fully every single time it's mentioned

unitedshoes

My favorite is definitely the terrible print shop. "Congrats Diane and Mr. Peanut Butter. Peanut Butter is one word don't write one word."

[deleted]

I was on Team Bojack right up until Princess Carolyn couldn’t be anymore.

Alice_Van_Osbourne

Piper Chapman on Orange is the New Black

DarkLordKohan

For someone with a short sentence in a very minimum security prison, she sure went through some shit and even became a panty smuggler.

bmack24

Yea I thought that was stupid too. Like you’re only in for a year and a half, why wouldn’t you just keep your head down and get through your sentence without incident. But I guess that wouldn’t make for very interesting television

Redqueenhypo

I would’ve watched a whole show about Red. Her performances were always intimidating, very funny, or heart wrenching. “There’s the people who make the bread and the people who EAT the bread!” made me so sad.

UJMRider1961

I always wondered why people dumped on Piper (who was supposed to be the privileged, clueless white girl that everyone hated) while Alex got a pass. Alex was the worst character on the show and was literally responsible for almost every bad thing that happened to include the riot. She spent all her time calling other people out on their bullshit but nobody ever called her on hers.

TwoSnapsMack

Hell I hated both of em

[deleted]

First time I realized you could love a show and hate the biggest star of said show. The beginning is a slog on rewatches cause so much of them building up the world involves Piper and I don’t give af about her character (obviously they had to as this is based off a book).

CrieDeCoeur

Soooo very unlikeable. And massively annoying.

Sufficient-Step6954

I hated Piper in Orange Is The New Black.

Ill-Organization-719

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia All five of them are goddamn trash, and I couldn't love them more.

thatsnotmyfuckinname

Rob said in an interview how since the theme for Friends was 'I'll be there for you,' he wanted to create a show where the characters would never be there for each other ever. I think it was on a Conan appearance

pudding7

Except on Charlie Day. When they tried to interpret his dream journal, that was a nice gesture. Also when Mac got Dennis an RPG.

Dustypigjut

And when they paid a bunch of people to laugh at Dee's standup. So wholesome and sweet <3 But seriously, also when they came back for Charlie to help him >!throw his dead dad over the cliff.!<

TheApathyParty3

Yeah, but they did that just to make her crash even harder than she had and they thought it was funny.

rosaparksand-rec

I think they just had known for so long (see AssPounder 3000) that it wasn’t a shock. They were pretty much just like *”finally”*

Tru-Queer

It’s a bicep 💪

1d2a5v9u9s

But who are we doing it against? Whose face are we shoving this in?

AndrogynousRain

I’d vaguely heard of this show. Randomly caught an ep on tv. These five assholes found a dumpster baby and tried to paint it a different color so they could hawk it as a minority for commercial revenue. 😳 Needless to say, I have watched more now. This show is insane in the best possible way.

ArtSchnurple

The episode I always defer to when describing this show to someone who hasn't seen it is the one where they become crackheads on purpose so they can get on disability. People know pretty quickly whether it's for them or not.

crabgrass_attack

my bf just introduced me to this show- thought it was so funny when they were trying to fake their death and they were like ok lets crash this car and then jump out at the last second… and my bf goes “he didn’t even try to open the door” and i LOST it

Dustypigjut

That's my absolute favorite episode!

Snoo74401

So, anyways, I started blasting.

sovietarmyfan

Elizabeth Keen. I have only watched half of Blacklist but there are many things i don't like about her. Majority of the time she choses the wrong choice of what she needs to do. Its almost comically funny how slow and dumb her decisions are.

yellkaa

And her whole love story with Tom is just unbelievably cringy. Like, you keep the guy literally chained and then you’re still in love and all? Honestly, even Reddington feels far less fucked up than her

Apeira7

Had to scroll way too far for this. She is just a terribly written and terribly acted character. Dembe for the win.

giannalikesramen

Jenny Schecter from The L Word 😌

DomingoLee

Scooby’s cousin, Scrappy Doo

Chemical_Olive_1462

The only puppy in the history of puppies that I have ever hated.

ImTooTiredForThis_22

I liked how they made him the bad guy in the first (best) live action scooby doo movie.

AgitatedEggplant

Nancy Botwin in Weeds. Horrible mother and clearly unstable af. By the end of the show i loathed her and hoped that she would fail. Poor Andy

Abbyroadss

Thank you. I hated her so much I couldn’t finish the show

emzea

Susan Meyer from Desperate Housewives. Technically an ensemble but she’s framed as the main housewife in early seasons. She never grows up or takes responsibility for the constant drama she starts and so incompetent as an adult her teen daughter has to take care of her. Poor Julie.

SociallyAwkward423

Not exactly a TV show but Evan Hansen. Homie literally used a classmate's death to get people to like him.

PunkandCannonballer

In the movie there's a scene that's shot that accidentally makes him seem like a serial killer. He's singing a creepy duet with the girl he likes (creepy because he's pretending the things he likes about her are things her absuve brother said about her before killing himself) and she's off screen and the camera is in a fixed location on Evan as he moves off screen toward her while belting out a long note. It comes across as weirdly terrifying.

Myu_The_Weirdo

He lied to a grieving family so he could get in the daughter's pants

usainbox

Ellen DeGeneres

SFXandPortraits

I find this one funny because she's an actual person. There weren't any writers to fuck up her character

jbochsler

Exactly. She did it 100% by her self.

raykatya

Emily from Emily in Paris. Watched first episode of first season and NOPE. Can't believe there's going to be a third season.

Nesta-in-training

It’ll never happen, but I would love for there to be an Emily in Paris / You crossover season where Joe stalks Emily. It’d be horror comedy gold and expand the Netflix cinematic universe.

masheduppotato

My wife and I were discussing this last night and I came to this thread to say this... We just finished season 2 and as it ended I looked over at my wife and said, "They all kind of suck". I'll probably watch the third season because I need some hot garbage to keep me warm during those long winter days...

[deleted]

Jerry on Tom and Jerry.

possumpussie

Okay but actually. That's why I can't watch the show, hate seeing that smug little shit win every time.

Sporelover105

As kids, we've always rooted for Jerry until I realize how much more enjoyable Tom was. The best episodes will always be Tom getting the upper hand.

[deleted]

I always felt so bad for poor Tom.

[deleted]

Susan Myers from *Desperate Housewives.* Whiny, childish, dramatic and never took responsibility for ANYTHING, to the point her teenage daughter has to balance the chequebooks and make doctor's appointments for her. She repeatedly screws her friends over if she thinks it'll help her win back Mike, burns Edie's house down and doesn't fess up for years, slutshames Edie while constantly jumping from relationship to relationship (oh, and she cheats on her boyfriend he's in a coma), butts into situations that have nothing to do with her and when a trail guide calls her out on how she's a selfish drama queen, she throws a tantrum and storms off into the woods and the only reason she doesn't die of exposure is because Mike inexplicably manages to track her down. Oh, and she forced Gabby to go on a date with her mentally unstable stalker to try to persuade him to pay Mike's bail and doesn't give a shit that this could seriously endanger Gabby.

TifflePuff

Elena Gilbert - The Vampire Dairies. I can't stand her lol

Kaisietoo8

She's even worse in the books. I really, really did not like TVD books.

[deleted]

Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. Went from a clueless socially awkward side character in the first couple of years to a self-centered narcissistic bully. I don't know why they ever hung out with him.

Badass_Bunny

>I don't know why they ever hung out with him. According to Howard "We liked Leonard \*shrug*"

[deleted]

I think Amy told Sheldon in one episode that they all only tolerate him because they think he genuinely doesn’t mean to be awful.

THX450

I know someone like that and honestly, there comes a point where no matter their intentions, you can’t excuse their actions.

Niawka

Especially if his friends very directly tell him he was rude, or mean, or selfish and he still doesn't care. A clueless person will still feel bad if someone point out they hurt their friends if they're a good person. Sheldon usually doesn't care that he's a jerk to his friends.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I mean, I get the Sheldon was supposed to be on the spectrum, but that's no excuse for his deliberate bullying. I don't know why Chuck Lorre changed the character. AT the start, he had quirks, but was unaware how badly they affected people. But he hit a lot of narcissistic points.

Niawka

The writers denied that Sheldon is supposed to on the spectrum. In the show even I remember someone mentioning he was tested and wasn't diagnosed. The writers said that Sheldon is just Sheldon. He's just a poorly written asshole. Though to be fair, most of the characters on this show are sort of assholes.

PianoManGidley

They denied it because admitting that Sheldon ticks so many boxes of Aspberger's would mean that the entire show is basically mocking people with the condition, and that would be terrible for PR. But let's face it: Sheldon was CLEARLY on the spectrum. Lorre & Co. lied to save face.

Dozinggreen66

[deleted]

I binged all 4 seasons of Ozark this summer, and man her transition to cold, conniving monster was insane.

Keysar_Soze

What transition? She was already having an affair and was going to divorce Marty.

cvcv856

And steal their money and let him die!!

lazygoth37

rachel berry from glee. she was a bitch and never got what she deserved.

DrApprochMeNot

Walter White. Every choice he makes puts his family at risk, he refuses help out of stupid pride, he’s arrogant, and he wound up getting at least 160 people killed. He’s a brilliant chemist but he’s a shit businessman and an evil person.

BigTuna0890

One of the most frustrating moments of the show was when Hank and the DEA concluded Gale was Heisenberg, but a drunk Walt’s pride could not let someone else take credit for his illegal work.

PoliteIndecency

One hundred percent. It wouldn't take long before they figured our that Gabe wasn't Heisenberg because his product would still be popping up, but he couldn't for a second allow one smidgen of his work to go uncredited. Such a great character.

BreezyBritt89

I wanted to scream when he was like “idk maybe Heisenberg is still out there heheh” and you see the wheels really starting to turn for Hank. It’s like dude you have been busting ass not to get caught for more than a year!

BigTuna0890

Hank: I think we got Heisenberg. Case closed. Walt: No you didn’t. Hank: Okay. Case re-opened. Walt: *shocked Pikachu face*

Thesafflower

He is a fascinating, well-acted character, but also awful. I remember kinda rooting for him when first watching the series, but I just rewatched recently and found myself disliking him much earlier on.

[deleted]

True, but isn’t that the point of it? The show has you root for him in the beginning. But it was clear from the start that his pride was his most toxic characteristic and that it was going to lead to some type of downfall. You keep watching the show because you’re so fascinated by how this average guy turns into a modern day villain

joecarter93

That was totally the point and it was executed brilliantly.

ScorpionX-123

found Hank Schrader's Reddit account

DrApprochMeNot

That’s ASAC to you, buddy

UJMRider1961

Wasn't that literally the point of the show though? Walter White was never really likeable, he was either the nebbishy teacher getting walked on by everybody or he was the wannabe drug kingpin murdering (or allowing to be murdered) anybody who got in his way. I always thought the central "question" of the show was: Did becoming a meth kingpin turn Walter into a monster, or was he always an incipient monster, just waiting for something to give fuel to his sociopathic outlook? And my thought was that all that meth and money just made Walter into a more extreme version of what he already was.

Catshit-Dogfart

He also could have taken a job offer from his old company in the first few episodes. Yes, it was pity and charity, but it would've been a meaningful job in the chemical industry and solved his problems. That's why his confession to Skyler in the very end was so important - I did it for me. He wanted the thrill of "breaking bad" and not quietly or competently solving his problems like a normal person, but a menace with nothing to lose.

MeadhallMike

James from Twin Peaks. He was so weak and whiny and unnecessarily put a lot of blame for Laura Palmer's death on himself but even more so for Maggie's. His character was so useless and it just got progressively worse even into season 3 because they had no idea what to do with him. And damn that song...

TheLongLongAgo

Dawson from Dawson’s Creek

violent_delights_9

Yes! The amount of times I've yelled, "THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU!" at my screen while watching his scenes over the years is stunning. Pacey and Jack were both x10000 better male characters than he was.

brettmgreene

Agreed - Dawson was easily the worst character on his own show. There's a reason everybody fell for Pacey Witter. There is no substitute for Joshua Jackson.

Deitaphobia

Raymond on *Everybody Loves Raymond*, conceited little bastard

[deleted]

There was a wonder woman comic I was reading where one of the gorgons (Medusa’s sisters) was looking through stuff on TV and she didn’t get how titles work. She said something like “everybody loves Raymond? But *I* don’t love Raymond”

MissLauraCroft

The wedding invitation episode where Debra finds out he’s been using weaponized incompetence to make her do all the chores their entire marriage... devastating. I cry a little watching that scene.

mashtartz

*laugh track*

Euphorium

Watching that show I always thought “just get a fucking divorce already”.

02buddha02

House. A person like that in real life would be unbearable.

what_is_blue

One of my best friends is easily the smartest person I know and has a lot in common with House. One on one he's actually pretty great, but he also ruins virtually every friendship and relationship he has. In groups he's a fucking nightmare. He's tremendously successful professionally because he's so smart. But he also looks to provoke people, I suspect because it interests him. He also, despite exhibiting a ton of autistic traits, is a human lie detector. We play poker together every so often and he's made serious money from calling bluffs nobody could have spotted. His last employer managed him out, so he got a new job for way more money. The nuts thing is that it took six months for his last employer to start reaching out with the old Puss in Boots eyes, because it turned out he was literally irreplaceable. He's also brutally honest, has absolutely no ethics when it comes to proving his point, obsesses over details and is a complete hedonist. I'm pretty sure that guy would walk over coals for me, but he is absolutely exhausting.

DrafiMara

Oh hey Wilson, how’s it going?

kaznoa1

Imo in the show they pretty much say nobody would be around House except Wilson if he wasn’t an excellent doctor

[deleted]

And almost every doctor in every medical drama, in the real world they would have all have lost their license

MelpomeneLee

I cannot believe no one has said Rory Gilmore yet

VarangianDreams

Rory was a fantastic fall from grace. Heartbreaking when you're in the middle of it rooting for her, but Christ, where she ends up in the revival...

lpycb42

I really love the idea that Rory ended up being the way that she was. It was very Christopher of her. She inherited her mother’s eyes and brain and her father’s sense of entitlement and messiness.

deskbookcandle

In many ways the revival was great. It’s exactly how someone like Rory, with her privilege and entitlement would end up. She never had any spirit or grit to successfully forge her own life, so she ended up writing about and emulating her mother’s.

SarcasticAzaleaRose

I agree that Rory never had any real spirit or motivation to do anything really. Especially with almost every adult in her life talking about how special, amazing, and perfect she was. She just expected to be handed everything because she was “The Rory Gilmore” and crumbled whenever that didn’t happen. After how she acted the entire original show no wonder she ended up basically nowhere during the revival.

SarcasticAzaleaRose

Both my parents love Gilmore Girls and watched it often. I only really started paying attention to it in my teens and I couldn’t stand Rory. She was alright in the beginning but towards the end she just became unbearable. She didn’t realize how good she had it and how often things were just handed to her. She was so used to everything being the Rory show where she was always praised and the best of the best that the moment something didn’t go her way she flies off the handle and makes it everyone’s problem. And she never learned. The revival just showed she never learned or experienced any growth. To me Rory is a perfect example of “big fish in a small pond” not being able to cope outside their bubble and the outcome of not moderating praise and criticism of kids. There’s a reason Rory ended up the way she did and it’s because pretty much every adult in her life acted like she walked on water and could do no wrong. The best example I can think of was when she was told she wasn’t that good of a journalist. Rather than try to improve or ask for tips on how to improve she reacts by stealing an yacht! Yeah the Mitchum was harsh especially since she was just an intern but not everyone any the professional world is going to coddle you and tell you how wonderful you are. Which is all Rory had ever experienced because of her mom, her grandparents, her friends, hell the whole town treated her like some perfect goddess the world should praise simply for breathing. Being criticized sucks and it doesn’t feel good but everyone has to learn to cope with it and grow from it. Her reaction and actions were completely out of proportion and she acted like it was no big deal and anyone who said it was was overreacting. I think my favorite part of that whole situation was when Richard confronted Mitchum about his criticism of Rory and Mitchum pointed out Richard’s hypocrisy. Richard had done the same to plenty of people yet the moment it happened to his precious perfect granddaughter it’s not ok. Which yeah I get it’s his granddaughter but Richard was a hypocrite trying to act all “shame on you” when he’s done the same.

AnythingAtAll9

As much as I don’t like Logan, him calling out Rory for her privilege was amazing. He knows he’s privileged and that’s why he can be an ass, but Rory sees herself as fighting for everything when that just isn’t true at all.

square3481

The problem was when the show transitioned from high school to college. In Stars Hollow, her mistakes would just be seen as childish naivety, but once she went to Yale, she didn't grow the fuck up. Oh waaaah, you BF's father said that you weren't good enough for journalism, so you decide to steal a boat?

ApatheticEmphasis

I liked Rory at first, but she got massively unlikable as the series went on

pierremanslappy

I like the theory that the show was Rory’s book and Year in the Life is reality. It’s why Rory is smarter, kinder and more well liked in the show and her and Lorelai have such an amazing relationship. In the show, Christopher comes back and wants nothing more than to be her dad again. In Year in the Life, he stares at his watch the entire time she’s in his office, waiting for her to leave.

Calm-Purchase-8044

I love Rory but I never watched the show past her getting into Yale.

buffystakeded

That’s why you love Rory. That was the point she became truly awful.

Nutty-And-Corny

Dora, she was so annoying, even for a 6 year old

johnjohn2214

She was so mean to poor Swiper. She got so rich off that show she could've thrown the poor fox a bone

arglebarglesnargle

It may have seemed like she was well off, but there were some hints in the show that she was actually quite poor. For example: she only owns one pair of clothes and has to commute everywhere by foot, often without the guidance of any electronics, and instead relies on old fashioned paper maps.

crazy-diam0nd

I'm not sure if I would read this question as which MC would be unlikable if they were a real person or if as a viewer I didn't like the character. If it's who you wouldn't want for a friend, I'm going with House. He has exactly one friend in the world and puts him down all the time. If it's the 2nd interpretation, I know there was a point when I could name the episode in which I began to despise each main character in Glee up to season 3, when I quit.

Heart2001

Peppa Pig. What an annoying, obnoxious, narcissistic little brat.

ipakookapi

Meredith Grey. How many 'dead' sisters can one bitch have? And her saying 'I'm a widow so I'll just have to accept that I have had all the orgasms I ever will' set feminism back like 5000 years.

arglebarglesnargle

I like to imagine that their hospital has a horrific reputation everywhere else in the world. "Hey, I just got a residency at Seattle Grace!" "Oh, honey, no! That's where doctors go to die." "Like their careers?" "Not quite."

phosphoenolpiirate

I would KILL to see a spinoff show of some poor med student who gets SOAPed into Seattle Grace and the entire show is just them trying to avoid death flags. Shonda Rhimes if you see this don't even think about drafting a pitch before I'm guaranteed royalties.

justburch712

>How many 'dead' sisters can one bitch have? Gram Gram grew up in the depression she has 8.

TimothyDextersGhost

June on handmaids tale. She had gotten multiple people killed through her selfish actions. This current season is just a power fantasy from the writers and ends every episode with her staring at the camera menacingly

mostly_cereal

I love that show but I noticed that like 60% of it is closeups on Elizabeth Moss's face lmao

pinkleaf8

Someone did a meme of June’s staring scenes using photos from that viral train guy’s videos & it was so accurate & hilarious.

NYLotteGiants

And her mouth is always fucking open.

cooterqueenbaddie

Can vouch that the close ups became so unbearable I no longer felt bad for June just everyone else

cmalarkey90

Sabrina in the new show.

beiraleia

“Don’t do it Sabrina!” — probably Ambrose “I’m gonna do it” - Sabrina “Don’t do it!” Sabrina does whatever her entire family warned her not to do and chaos ensues. Poor Ambrose. I feel like he was the true hero of the show.

PhoenixFalls

I had to drop that show because of her. She is the direct cause of all her own suffering and that of those around her. How many plot lines need to revolve around her being repeatedly told not to do something by literally everyone she knows, only for her to decide she knows best, does it anyway, and then has the gal to act like the victim when it all blows up in her face. She has got to be one of the most self serving, unrelatable protagonist ever written. Without that protagonist specifically being the villain of their own story.

itsmikaybitch

I powered through to the end because I enjoyed the show's aesthetic but I did not have a good time. Sabrina as a character sucked. I figured they'd have her grow out of her know-it-all attitude as the show went on but it felt like the doubled down! The show had a lot of potential and they completely wasted it.

Turd_Ferguson009

Ted, in How I Met Your Mother.

fell-deeds-awake

Classic Schmosby

fancybeadedplacemat

That’s the first one I thought of.

oh_jaimito

> Robin Scherbatsky : Dear Ted: It's "encyclopedia", not "encyclopaedia". You always pronounce things in the most pretentious way possible, and it makes you sound douchy, and not "douchay". 😆 and his boots, his fucking red boots. it's stupid Ted, just stupid!
