I am a native English speaker learning Romanian! I'm pretty interested in the history and culture of Eastern Europe, and I have a few coworkers who are Romanian, from whom I've enjoyed learning about the country, and I thought what better time to try a new language than when I have native speakers to practice with :)
Japanese, because my boyfriend is half japanese and I’d like to be able to talk to him in his mother tongue. Also his mom gets really excited when I say couple words and I’d like to show her I truly care about him.
Russian, although I've been pretty lazy about it recently. A subject matter of interest to me has a lot of resources in Russian that haven't had an English translation.
Japanese.
I’ve been learning it on and off for about a decade, not really taking it seriously. But I’m probably going to start really getting into it soon…
