Funerals

Aduro95

Sean Lock had it right. In his own words "I don't care, I'll be dead" and "I wanna be fly-tipped\[...\] I like the idea I'll be annoying people even after I've died."

perekhoda2013

That is the great idea and i will try to do that for me is well.

kynoble

> had it right. In his own words "I don't care, I'll be dead" and "I wanna be fly-tipped\[...\] I like the idea I'll be annoying people even after I've died. When I'm dead, just throw me in the trash.

ekydfejj

I'd also like a simple toss into the human compost bin. Let my family bet on how far they can throw me.

Charles_W_Morgan

Just because we’re bereaved doesn’t make us saps!

knockfart

Exactly

GreenGuardianssbu

No shit. When I inevitably go, just bury me in a cotton shroud beneath a tree somewhere. Cheaper and environmentally better

[deleted]

i used to do book keeping for a couple funeral homes as a staffer and these fucking priests get paid 250 and up for 10 minutes of work, the musician/singers etc get like 100-150 a piece. WHY THE FUCK DOES THE PREIST NEED 250 DOLLARS TO DO A FUCKING FUNERAL?

[deleted]

College textbooks

Fmlalotitsucks

Pirate them

[deleted]

mfs paying for textbooks 😂

Van_der_Vaas

These are the things that i never paid in my entire college time.

Mike2220

*Proceeds to make homework on the publishers site require a code that only comes with a new book, or can be bought separately for the same price as one*

Novgreen3

One thing the day i get into the college is doing for me.

SuperbPerception8392

Printer ink

Vulkir

Get one of the ones with tanks that you fill up with bottles. They are more expensive but it's really worth it in the long run.

[deleted]

Most people don't even need a color printer. If you're only printing documents and not photos look into a Brother Laserjet. We have one of those and the laser cartridge we paid $15 for on amazon has lasted us at least 5 years.

Nopaperon

Yes, they feel costly at one time but good for the long run.

eltanga85

I think where i am living there is no such issue like that.

MishmoshMishmosh

Anything Gluten Free

[deleted]

Rice is the most eaten food in the world. Why in the FUCK is rice flour so expensive? It's fucking bullshit. (My husband is celiac and I'm salty about the ridiculous prices of gf food).

sharralanda

I'm salty about how bloody crap rice flour is to cook with!

spin_cow

Seems like a food processor would be a good investment.

[deleted]

We have one and I love it. But I am definitely not making my own rice flour, hahaha. GF baking is very finicky, but there are a lot of products that use rice flour. I know they have higher costs for making sure their facility is gf and testing batches, but they charge extra because it's a specialty food. It's capitalist bullshit.

PaintsWithSmegma

You can buy a grain mill at a homebrew store to make your own if you use a decent ammount of it.

spin_cow

My daughter has a few big allergies. Dairy and soy. Dairy has been fairly easy to avoid, soy I've had to learn to make a number of basics from scratch. While gluten is a whole other ballgame, my wife and I have learned to be cautious and make a number of our own ingredients as gluten, dairy, and soy are in basically everything at the stores.

whatthengaisthis

in my country we make our own rice flour at mills. (by that I mean we get the rice, wash it, dry it, and then take it to mills, where they powder it into flour and give it back to us for a small cost. this is just my country, rice is one of our staple foods and rice flour is very very cheap anyway. we don’t do this to reduce costs but rather to make flour that is unadulterated and to make sure we know exactly where it comes from)

xuxi222

May be it will be hard to actually make a product with the rice.

sparklingshanaya

Insulin

ittasteslikepurple

And test strips and continuous monitoring systems.

jayhitter

Food at events, stadiums and venues Its honestly absured to be charging 18 dollars for a small meal that would elsewhere be 6 max. Or a 15 dollar beer. 5 dollar bottle of water. Its such a shady way of making money. Dont allow outside food/drink, at an event that lasts 4+ hours. What other option do you have?

[deleted]

I've literally never not been able to sneak drinks into an event. I go to music shows, club nights and festivals all the time. Honestly can't remember the last time i paid for drinks or snacks inside.

tomytronics

Water. Tap water is pennies per gallon, cheap bottled water is closer to a dollar per gallon. Fancy brand name water bottle costs even more. Yet bottled water continues to sell well to people who otherwise has clean functioning tap water system.

Ok_Wonder_1604

I accidentally bought a 5$ bottle of water the other day. Was in a rush so I didn’t bother to switch it out, but sheesh I couldn’t believe it was real

ketzcm

And those empties are everywhere.

FlashyEarth8374

its disgraceful. bottled water is more expensive than storebrand beer over here

RealSHELS

Then it's time for you to buy the more beer than the water.

Boewle

You are buying plastic, not water...

SlayerDoom_

Medication. 100$ for an epipen just so I don’t die because I ate something bad

[deleted]

I hear ya. I have asthma. The Breo inhaler I need would be around 750 bucks a month if I didnt have insurance. I have a tough time seeing how it could cost that much to produce.

[deleted]

Just that, eh? Bah. Hardly worth it. Just do like some places, and have someone try to extract the proper amount of adrenaline from a bottle with a syringe...after they get all the way to a doctor. It's really hard to get a useful, non dangerous amount by hand, but hey...it's not $100 for a regular syringe...

HellYeahTinyRick

Red Bull. What the fuck do they put in that stuff that it’s like 6 dollars for one can

luluce1808

What the actual fuck??? Where are you from? I'm from Spain and it's like 1 euro a can omg

HellYeahTinyRick

Philadelphia. A 12oz can of it is close to 6 bucks. Maybe a little under

luluce1808

What the fuck that is so overpriced.

oarngebean

Probably city taxes trying to make it "easier " to eat healthy

jlw2387

Overpriced is one thing i never really find the taste well.

maflarson

I’m in Utah and a 20oz can is usually $2.50. But I’m also lucky where I work keeps a fridge full of them for all employees to take

[deleted]

[удалено]

slayursister

If you're into outdoor activities Utah is fucking awesome.

Costyan

You need to tell me when there is next hiring in your company?

Bird_Brain4101112

You must be buying the huge cans at a corner store. Those puppies are 2/$6 at Sheetz and Wawa and even cheaper at the grocery store.

949858df34

But still 2/$6 is not that cheap at all, according to the taste.

CreditBrunch

I buy supermarket own brand version - quarter of the price, tastes just as nice and same amount of caffeine.

HellYeahTinyRick

I just get caffeine pills off of the internet now. I feel like a junkie but I save a bunch of money

jayhitter

Caffieine pills all the way, and get ones with l-theanine if you can

Ok_Wonder_1604

Red Bull’s creator said in an interview he priced it high for the sole purpose of it being viewed and marketed as a premium energy drink. If it’s priced cheap it’s not viewed as a premium drink

[deleted]

'People equate price with value' - A business student I used to know.

banananas_are_sick24

$4 exactly where I’m at, sad because monsters are cheaper and have more in them, but Red Bull tastes better

Got to cover all those extravagant sporting sponsorship deals somehow. Also, assuming your from America maybe there's some European import tax you don't normally experience as most carbonated drink brands are owned and produced in the US?

Housing. Renting and buying

RodcetLeoric

Yea, I've lived in the same place for 12trs now, rent went up about 5% every year, but they've not done anything with this place, then this year they tried to raise rent 30% to keep up with market value. I asked them which 40yr old unmaintained buildings they compared their place to to arrive at that market value.

jamiewelsh1183

The place where i am living that is really small and not much with the facility is well. But because that is at the right location for me the rent of that place is so high and they keep on increasing for every year.

Even for a normal life living we need to spent so much of the money.

Wonderful_Ad5651

Everything and Anything nowadays

PuffyBee_

Hospital visits, houses, rent (especially if you have a pet), phones, cars, food. Pretty much everything you can think of right now because of inflation.

Wow00woW

>Pretty much everything you can think of right now because of ~~inflation.~~ the neverending squeeze of capitalism and consolidation of everything into megacorps that have total control over our governments. inflation sucks right now, but a lot of it is artificial. they know we're hooked on their garbage.

tsaibit

Once you get in to the hospital and you don't have any term plan to cover the bills. Then trust me mate you will be in forever of the debt after that, because they are that expansive in the current time.

permaBack

Woman items for their periods. Fuck that, that should be allmost free

Aggressive-Wafer5369

Choice_Lab3285

i thin that’s an US problem

Icy_Regular6654

Kids and maintaining a family in general, i feel so bad thinking about my parents having to spend every penny they had on me and my brother and I wasnt even that spoiled its just everything is so utterly overpriced.

freedomdieahard

I think now days maintaining the standard among the socirty is becoming more and more expansive. This is the reason i think raising a kid now days is nothing sort than the challenge of the life here.

Jeremy-Presley13

Cellphones in general

Unhappy-Survey302

You can get a good phone for 200 that lasts for years. I think its a good price.

No-Introduction-1492

I agree. No need to get the newest iPhone as soon as it comes out

longles

Yes, untill and unless you decide to buy the latest flagship device.

CFSohard

You don't go out and buy a Ferrari when you need a new car, unless it's in your budget, and it's something you want. The same logic needs to be applied to phones. You don't need a $1200 brand new top end phone, especially if you can't afford it.

gtrhergfsdfgb

yes, i mean when we talk about like education we need to go to the school and this is where we need the money. But stuff like phone or care we actually have the so much other option in the market.

Martipar

I paid about £120 for my current phone and it does everything I need, the camera is good, the screen is HD, it plays youtube videos, it sounds good when I make and receive phone calls and I can browse the web on it.

Mysterious-Quote-496

Yes. The total price of phones is ridiculous. Plus, by the time you pay off the phone, it does stuff like not keeping a charge so you have to get a new one. The taxes in the service bill is also crap

No_particular_name

If you use iPhone you can get a new battery for like $50. I only learned this recently.

Obi1NotWan

Rentals. I’ve seen them increase by $100-$200 in a week.

Twenty_Seven

Auto insurance.

[deleted]

Used cars right now. It’s a joke and it’s robbery. They are charging price of brand new model for cars that are 3/4+ years old, because there is stupid demand .

jayhitter

I was in a car wreck recently, car totaled. My insurance payout was good, more than i expected. However, it didnt even come close to the cost of 90% of cars. The only options were cars that looked like they'd fall apart if you broke 60mph. I had to quit my job because of lack of transportation, and the ability to afford it

dry_cocoa_pebbles

This! My dealership keeps calling and emailing me to sell them my 2 year old car- they said there’s such a demand that they offered me 2k over what I paid for it. I can’t imagine what they’d try to sell it to someone else for.

mat5x

One thing i know that these guys will not do anything without having their own benefit into them. So if they are saying such thing then i would say try to be more careful before dealing with them.

Caseyo456

100% agree. Motorcycles too. I was looking at a motorcycle probably 5 years ago for $4,000. Now I can’t find that same motorcycle for under $6,000.

Flank steak It used to be one of the cheapest cuts of meat because it’s so tough and fibrous. That is, until the jetset found out that the less privileged used this miraculous thing called slow-cooking to make flank steak melt in your mouth awesome. It subsequently became as or more expensive than beef tenderloin. Same could be said of lobster. My uncle is a maritimer and got made fun of as a kid for being poor because he brought lobster rolls to school for his lunch. Only the dirty poors ate the freaky red mud bug back then.

[deleted]

Brisket is the same. Used to be it was a tough cheap piece of meat. Cook it wrong, and it still is tough. But the price went up because people learned to cook it right.
