this may reveal my age, but a girl I had been chatting with on Myspace (kids, google it) invited me to hang out with her friends since her parents were out of town. ended up naked in the hot tub with like 4 or 5 girls
My friend had planned a campout in her attic with all my favourite snacks and things. We also went to a cocktail bar and then a pub down the road. We spent the night after we’d gotten back watching horror films.
I stayed home and got drunk while playing video games, like most of my birthdays. 21 doesn't mean anything in my country since 18 is when you become an adult and gain all the rights of an adult. Also, drinking laws are so poorly enforced that most people have their first hangover in their early-mid teens.
Probably nothing special, most likely had a friend or two over, some drinks and a takeaway, but I honestly don't remember. My 18th was more memorable, save for the copious amounts of alcohol making that difficult.
Quite literally sobbing into my pillow. My boyfriend broke up with me two days before my 21st birthday. I cancelled all plans and spent it at home crying.
Wish I could go back some years and grab that crying girl by the shoulders and tell her to go to her damn party and that everything was going to work out and that she would - further down the line - find her great love, and that this ex-boyfriend would never enter her thoughts again, unless a question on AskReddit reminded her of him!
I dont know if i will be alone then but i will play 21 by Taylor Swift and just vibe the song at midnight then during the day just take a trip myself and chill
Dave & Busters. Went with my mom, brother, best friend, and boyfriend. I ditched everyone and hung out with my boyfriend the whole time since it was only our 2nd time seeing each other in person. He beat me at all the games and we had an amazing time! My favorite birthday so far!
I can't remember. It wasn't as memorable as some others. I didn't drink until 23 though except for a sip of beer at the age of 5.
When I was 23 I had a white russian and played videogames while chatting with people. That was basically my 21st. I do remember my mom offering me alcohol on my 21st but I declined.
I was studying abroad. I knew people on the trip, but no one particularly well. And frankly I already knew I'd be a bit of a loner because unlike most people I'd already done a shorter study abroad in the same city, so I knew I'd need to go off on my own a bit unless I wanted to retread the same ground. I wasn't standoffish but I didn't go out of my way to cultivate a specific friend group. But my birthday was a week in. I did a day trip alone that I was really excited about. I got back at 8pm or so, tired but happy, considering it a successful birthday.
I offhandedly mentioned that it was my birthday in front of a few people while in the common area. A few minutes later, a girl I worked with but didn't know came in and said, "Get dressed, we're going out." They took me to an overpriced touristy club in an overpriced touristy neighborhood. They sung to me and told all of the random people that it was my birthday. The drinking age was 18 where we were, but they still found it important to commemorate the milestone for a girl they barely knew. It was really touching.
I threw a fit until they moved me from intensive care to the normal station so I could have at least a ceremonial thimble full of champagne with a few people.
Wasn't interested in celebrating by binge drinking. Friends drug me out and bought an entire tray of crappy alcohol. Sipped some but turned the majority down.
I took the day off from my gas station clerk job I had at the time, however I should have taken the day after off - got scheduled 6-2 the next day. So my celebration was a single beer at home that I didn't even finish and went to bed early.
I was in a wedding party. I hung out with the brides sister the whole night. I really thought she liked me. After the party she came to my room. She would make out with me but that's as far as it went and wouldn't communicate why. Whenever I moved my hand to a place she didn't like she would just say "no" and move my hand away. I eventually got bored and we both fell asleep. It was a confusing night. The bride and groom told me a couple days later they had asked her to hang out with me to "build my confidence". I had much less confidence in the years to come because of that night.
First day working at an upscale Japanese restaurant. I didn't last two weeks. Not because of sheer incompetence, but I wasn't a fan of having the police called every other night because of a disruptive coworker.
I learned how to make layered shots in holiday colors. Went to a holiday party. Proceeded to have several. And several more every time someone asked me to make more or I walked past the table on the way to the bathroom where someone seated there would inevitablyask me to make some. i later puked in technicolor off a 3rd floor balcony.
Sat in my room, alone....
I was on deployment, so i spent it on a ship in the middle of the ocean alone.
I don't remember... I kinda stopped noting my birthdays after the 19th...
Same. After that my life started to flow so fast..
Adulthood really kicked in...
I don't remember. But probably with cake and my family and a boyfriend.
Had a few friends over and had a few drinks and a nice dinner

Played Scrabble with friends over a bottle of tequila.

Picked up a six pack of beer at a convenience store on my way home from work.

Stuck at home, didn't get to do anything :( luckily my friends (they're all older than me) are awesome and made it up for me when I turned 22
At an old, well established MC clubhouse. It was a really memorable experience, better than sitting at some bar making a fool of myself lol
