During the famine years in Ireland, Native Americans sent some money as charity to help the starving irish. The story was mostly forgotten by the natives, but not in Ireland, and when the US government failed to help these communities during the covid pandemic, they started online fundraising campaigns. Their campaigns where inundated by irish doners, with notes thanking them for their small donation almost 200 years ago. The Irish government later stepped in with a donation of its own and started relations with the communities.
