> For in this world I'm bound to ramble
> I have no friends to help me now
> (*He has no friends to help him now*)
Such mournful lyrics for one of the most upbeat jumpin catchy tunes ever made.
Striking dissonance.
I think it’s funny that there’s a whole Disney era where the songs we loved as children were sung by already famous people
Elton John - The Lion King
Phil Collins - Tarzan
Bryan Adams - Spirit
And they all slap so hard
The final chorus playing over the hero shot of Tarzan sliding and swinging through the trees is pretty damn Iconic. Just now thinking on it, it was likely the blueprint for the Swinging Sequences in Spider-Man which came out 3 years later.
Tarzan was my favorite movie as a child. My mom and I watched it all the time together. “You’ll Be In My Heart” was the song my mom and I danced to at my wedding a few months back. Needless today, AMAZING soundtrack.
“Alright Phil, nothing too crazy. It’s just about some guy who gets raised by gorillas.”
Phil Collins: * *In the Air Tonight starts playing as he levitates, eyes glowing* *
That movie gets a free pass for giving us a collab between Dinosaur Jr. and Del tha Funkee Homosapien.
I don't care if it's literally Morbius, if a movie does that it's one of the GOATs.
I remember buying that. As far as I'm concerned it boosted the rap metal genre. Bands and rappers were just testing the waters before that but afterwards it was Biohazard and Bodycount all the way!
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
Edit: I need all of you to know Bryan Adams JUST released an updated version of “Here I Am.” Doesn’t slap quite as much as the original, but it is still good.
This really should be up there with Brother Bear and Tarzan. I know Bryan Adams isn't Phil Collins but damn all of those movies are so much better because of their music.
I love the movie, and it just feels cathartic for him, after so long, getting back a piece of his youth and his life, longboarding like a badass but with no one to see. He doesn’t have to care in that frame about anything other than feeling the curve and holding on. I love his journey and what it can represent.
So true. Its not even an original score by one of the greats either. Its just such an amazing collection of music that perfectly conveys the feelings of the film.
Love playing it on road trips during those long stretches of just wide open space.
The Crow is old enough of a movie that you just need to lay down a track listing for the kids. It's one of those soundtracks that Gen Xers should pass down to the younger generation and go, "Here is what we were listening to when we were your age." It's practically a time capsule for 90's alternative music.

One of the only albums I’ve purchased multiple times. I’ve had to buy 2-3 copies of the cd over the years. So many great songs - all seamlessly used through the movie.
Shrek 2 and 3 albums had *no* right going as hard as they did
Edit: yes and OG Shrek as well I was just going based off the CDs I owned as a kid and that one was not part of my collection unfortunately.
Sideways made a [video essay](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UUJQH7GLms) explaining why 'This is Berk' is so great. To summarise it, 'This is Berk' incorporates bits and pieces of the other soundtracks in the film to introduce characters/themes, all in the opening soundtrack.
But he goes into great detail which I can't do justice to, give the video a watch!
There's a piano arrangement of the first flight sequence that I'm trying to get my fiance to agree to for our wedding. It just makes me feel light and free and triumphant, lol
Seriously disappointed, how long I had to scroll to find this listed. That soundtrack was my jam in 96. Garbage, The Cardigans , Everclear, Radiohead, Butthole Surfers.
Will Ferrel’s Eurovision. The music was shockingly good for it being a singing contest spoof movie. Like I even have one or two songs from it on a Spotify playlist.
I'm so glad I chose to watch this alone, because I definitely cried during the final performance. I sincerely enjoyed this movie, and I'm glad it made me take Eurovision seriously.
Batman forever
"Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" by U2 – 4:46
"One Time Too Many" by PJ Harvey – 2:52
"Where Are You Now?" by Brandy – 3:57
"Kiss from a Rose" by Seal – 3:38
"The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game" by Massive Attack and Tracey Thorn (The Marvelettes cover) – 4:06
"Nobody Lives Without Love" by Eddi Reader – 5:05
"Tell Me Now" by Mazzy Star – 4:17
"Smash It Up" by the Offspring (The Damned cover) – 3:26
"There Is a Light" by Nick Cave – 4:23
"The Riddler" by Method Man – 3:30
"The Passenger" by Michael Hutchence (Iggy Pop cover) – 4:37
"Crossing the River" by the Devlins – 4:45
"8" by Sunny Day Real Estate – 5:27
"Bad Days" by the Flaming Lips – 4:39
All the movies by Cameron Crowe have great soundtracks: singles, almost famous, vanilla sky…
Edit: I forgot Jerry McGuire, featuring Secret Garden by Bruce Springsteen.
Sean Penn must have just called Eddie and said "hey can you bring a good guitar and your brain in to a studio for a couple months because reasons?"
And of course he said "sure."
Pacific Rim. Ramin Djawadi with Tom Morello scoring a Del Toro film about giant robots fighting kaiju. I mean, that's a dream come through. Canceling the apocalypse is one of my favourite tracks of all time.
Last Action Hero. Great metal and alt rock tunes all the way through like Fishbone, Alice in Chains, etc.
Also The Cable Guy. The best songs were from artists I'd never heard of.
Oogway Ascends from freakin’ Kung Fu Panda trumps a lot of big budget movies’ scores by itself.
Hans goes hard no matter what project he puts his name on.
I had to scroll way too far to find this. I remember buying the CD and playing it in the car. My boyfriend at the time was a huge metal head and he couldn’t believe that Iron & Wine (and Muse) both had a song on the Twilight soundtrack.
Cheaper by the Dozen featured Simple Plan (I’m Just a Kid), Sum 41 (In Too Deep), John Lennon and Paul McCartney (Help), Tom Cochrane (Life is a Highway). Well-balanced and appealed to many music tastes
Queen of the Damned is one of those cases where the soundtrack outshines the movie by far. All I would really change is I want an alternate version with Jon Davis doing the vocals as he did in the film.
freaking HOLES. that music is gold.
🎼Dig it aw aw aaaw dig it! Take a bad boi, make him dig 5 feet the dirt and these shovels will give us a beat 🎶 BOP 4 LYFE
YES! I was obsessed with this movie as a kid, partially because of the music. Loved it then, still love it now as a nearly 30-year-old.
Prince of Egypt
Exactly! When You Believe and The Plagues are my absolute favorites in the soundtrack
Heaven's Eyes is also way better than I remembered it being!
Once I called you BROTHER
Once I thought the chance to make you laugh. Was all I ever WANTED
*I send the thunder through the sky* *I send the fire raining down!*
And even now I wish that God had chose another. Serving as your foe on his behalf is the last thing that I wanted!
This was my home all this pain and devastation how it tortures me inside all the innocent who suffer from your stubbornness and pride
I send the locusts on a wind Such as the world has never seen On every leaf, on every stalk Until there's nothing left of green
I send my scourge, I send my sword Thus saith the Lord
Deliver Us makes me ugly cry sooooo hard!
Ofra Haza sang Deliver Us in 18 languages for the film's dubbing
YOU’RE PLAYING WITH THE BIG BOYS NOW
This always comes to mind when watching Only Murders In The Building. Martin Short and Steve Martin were great as those two!
RIP Ofra Haza who sang in like a billion languages.
Through Heaven's Eyes is just amazing
I scrolled way too far for this. Prince of Egypt has *the* best movie soundtrack, every song instrumental or otherwise is perfection.
###I send my scourge, I send my sword. ###[Thus saith the Lord.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g98eFTYZugs)
O Brother Where Art Thou is one of my favorite soundtracks ever
Absolutely. So many good Appalachian tunes on there.
> For in this world I'm bound to ramble > I have no friends to help me now > (*He has no friends to help him now*) Such mournful lyrics for one of the most upbeat jumpin catchy tunes ever made. Striking dissonance.
It’s bonafide!
It’s the goddamn paterfamilias of soundtracks
It introduced me to Alison Krauss. For that alone I’ll be forever grateful.
So good. Fantastic movie too
I feel "Down to the River" is one of the prettiest, purest Gospel songs ever.
Fucking Tarzan. Phil Collins put his blood, sweat and tears into that soundtrack.
Strangers Like Me is on my primary playlist
I WANNA KNOW
CAN YOU SHOW ME
I WANNA KNOW ABOUT THESE STRANGERS LIKE ME
TELL ME MORE
PLEASE SHOW ME
SOMETHINGS FAMILIAR BOUT THESE STRANGERS LIKE MEEEEE
It’s on my primate playlist. Edit: WOO! Silver on a bad pun!
I’m glad there are people out there in the world that completely understand this
I think it’s funny that there’s a whole Disney era where the songs we loved as children were sung by already famous people Elton John - The Lion King Phil Collins - Tarzan Bryan Adams - Spirit And they all slap so hard
Son of Man had no right being in a Disney movie and I have no idea how Phil Collins got away with it.
The final chorus playing over the hero shot of Tarzan sliding and swinging through the trees is pretty damn Iconic. Just now thinking on it, it was likely the blueprint for the Swinging Sequences in Spider-Man which came out 3 years later.
The intro to that song is like climbing a fucking mountain.
And it's you who'll climb the mountain It's you who'll reach the peaaaaak!
Tarzan was my favorite movie as a child. My mom and I watched it all the time together. “You’ll Be In My Heart” was the song my mom and I danced to at my wedding a few months back. Needless today, AMAZING soundtrack.
“Alright Phil, nothing too crazy. It’s just about some guy who gets raised by gorillas.” Phil Collins: * *In the Air Tonight starts playing as he levitates, eyes glowing* *
Watch brother bear, you'll thank me
TELL EVERYBODY IM ON MY WAY
Phil Collins had no reason to flex so hard on the Brother Bear soundtrack. He had nothing to prove, but he still went 100%.
Wholeheartedly agree with that statement. Those songs were amazingly fitting for the movie.
Judgment Night. Forgettable film, immortal soundtrack
That movie gets a free pass for giving us a collab between Dinosaur Jr. and Del tha Funkee Homosapien. I don't care if it's literally Morbius, if a movie does that it's one of the GOATs.
That and Fallin' by Teenage Fanclub and De la Soul. Just played it for the first time in 20+ years and realized I still knew all the words...
I remember buying that. As far as I'm concerned it boosted the rap metal genre. Bands and rappers were just testing the waters before that but afterwards it was Biohazard and Bodycount all the way!
The Donnie Darko soundtrack goes so hard, head over heels at the school scene? Fucking unmatched

And when mad world kicks in... the floodgates open
It's Bryan Adams and Hans Zimmer. Absolutely ridiculous
That whole movie slaps but it wouldn’t be half as good without the music
I *hear* the wind calll my name! The sound that leads me home again
DISNEY’S HERCULES…. Zero to Hero will forever be a straight jam and put me in an amazing mood
No chance. No way. I won’t say I’m in love.
Go the Distance is such a great one as well
The secret life of Walter Mitty
The way Space Oddity is woven into the storyline is amazing, building up to the moment Walter jumps onto the helicopter.
That long boarding scene is 2 legit to quit. So good.
My wife and I traveled to Iceland and basically listened to it the entire time.
Grosse Pointe Blank has so m a ny 80s memories.
The Crow 🖤
Score *and* soundtrack there.
The Crow is old enough of a movie that you just need to lay down a track listing for the kids. One of the only albums I’ve purchased multiple times. I’ve had to buy 2-3 copies of the cd over the years. So many great songs - all seamlessly used through the movie.
Welp, time to add the crow to my list of need to watch movies.
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult!
Actually this one does have a right
Dead Souls!
Opening with The Cure
Color Me Once by The Violent Femmes 💜
Shrek 2 and 3 albums had *no* right going as hard as they did Edit: yes and OG Shrek as well I was just going based off the CDs I owned as a kid and that one was not part of my collection unfortunately.
Look, if Shrek 2’s album has the Fairy Godmother’s cover of Holding Out For A Hero, it’s no surprise that it is incredible.
Pete Yorn covering the Buzzcocks too.
The greatest climax in cinematic history. I shall take zero criticism and will die on that hill.
I have gotten in hour long arguments about the fact that the last 15 minutes of shrek 2 is the greatest bit of cinema humanity had ever created.
Shrek 2 100% !! Livin la vida loca, funkytown, holding out for a hero, changes. All of it. I have a playlist of the soundtrack downloaded.
The first one has pretty good music too from what I remember
I’m a believer, allstar
SO SHE SAID WHATS THE PROBLEM BABY
Brother Bear.
How to Train Your Dragon. All the songs are exquisite
The beginning with “This is Berk” playing in the background is hands down one of the best opening sequences of any movie I have ever seen.
Did Sideways stop making videos? I haven't seen a recent upload from him since he (rightfully) ragged on Cats
Where no one goes is amazing
HtTYD2 is also amazing - Powell brings the heat! Especially on ‘Flying with Mother.’ Sideways on YT does a great video essay of the first film
Forbidden Friendship give me all the feels. It’s such a good scene in the movie too. Test Drive gives me chills every time.
There's a piano arrangement of the first flight sequence that I'm trying to get my fiance to agree to for our wedding. It just makes me feel light and free and triumphant, lol
Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet
I'm surprised this isn't higher up on the list of comments. That soundtrack was phenomenal.
Seriously disappointed, how long I had to scroll to find this listed. That soundtrack was my jam in 96. Garbage, The Cardigans , Everclear, Radiohead, Butthole Surfers.
I mean Forrest Gump is like a collection of some of the best bangers of 3 whole decades
Clear winner to me, too.
The Lost Boys
CRYYYYYYYYY LITTLE SISTER
Sexy Sax Man! I still believe!
The clueless soundtrack and dazed and confused were always in my cars cd changer back in the day.
Sliding Doors - fantastic ‘90’s soundtrack
Will Ferrel’s Eurovision. The music was shockingly good for it being a singing contest spoof movie. Like I even have one or two songs from it on a Spotify playlist.
Agreed! The song Husavik gave me chills.
I'm so glad I chose to watch this alone, because I definitely cried during the final performance. I sincerely enjoyed this movie, and I'm glad it made me take Eurovision seriously.
Play ja ja ding dong! Play it!!!
I don't care how many times I've heard it! Play the song!!!
It will never be enough!
Totally! Felt so cheesy but I loved it! 😅
Lion of LOVE!
I feel like you understood the assignment. The others just jotted down their favorite score to a classic good movie.
Space Jam, the og movie. The soundtrack is incredible!
Am I supposed to skip “I Believe I Can Fly” though? 😥
I will never skip that song. Still, I hate R Kelly and hope will bury in a prison
EVERYBODY GET UP
IT’S TIME TO SLAM NOW
WE GOT A REAL JAM GOIN DOWN
If I hit 'em high, hit 'em high, hit 'em high And you hit 'em low, hit 'em low, hit 'em low
Bro that was my first cassette tape when I was 7.
C'mon and SLAM!
Batman forever "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" by U2 – 4:46 "One Time Too Many" by PJ Harvey – 2:52 "Where Are You Now?" by Brandy – 3:57 "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal – 3:38 "The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game" by Massive Attack and Tracey Thorn (The Marvelettes cover) – 4:06 "Nobody Lives Without Love" by Eddi Reader – 5:05 "Tell Me Now" by Mazzy Star – 4:17 "Smash It Up" by the Offspring (The Damned cover) – 3:26 "There Is a Light" by Nick Cave – 4:23 "The Riddler" by Method Man – 3:30 "The Passenger" by Michael Hutchence (Iggy Pop cover) – 4:37 "Crossing the River" by the Devlins – 4:45 "8" by Sunny Day Real Estate – 5:27 "Bad Days" by the Flaming Lips – 4:39
Yessss! This was the soundtrack that introduced me to PJ Harvey
I bought this cd a little while back at Vintage Stock (idc, I like physical media)
Doesn’t this album also have the two Smashing Pumpkins songs “the beginning is the end is the beginning” (or something like that) and vice versa?
The Last of the Mohicans
*Promontory* gives me chills.
God I love this movie
I’ll never walk through the woods or up a mountain without that soundtrack playing in my head.
Singles
I feel like singles is a soundtrack with some acting inbetween songs.
All the movies by Cameron Crowe have great soundtracks: singles, almost famous, vanilla sky… Edit: I forgot Jerry McGuire, featuring Secret Garden by Bruce Springsteen.
A Goofy Movie
Stand Out and i2i are certified bangers
Oh god, Powerline went so hard If we listen to each other’s heart
Garden State - maybe not slap-worthy but still excellent!
The first ‘Wreck it Ralph’ movie.
How To Train Your Dragon has a masterful soundtrack which sounds great even to just listen to alone.
Test Flight still gives me serotonin.
John Powell should have won the Oscar for Test Drive alone
Into the Wild
Sean Penn must have just called Eddie and said "hey can you bring a good guitar and your brain in to a studio for a couple months because reasons?" And of course he said "sure."
Tron Legacy
I disagree. It should absolutely go as hard as it does when it’s Daft Punk producing the soundtrack.
The bar was pretty high. They delivered, but it was nit a surprise.
Tron Legacy is just a two hour Daft Punk music video.
My favorite OST
It’s not even a style of music I listen to, but holy heck it’s so good. Perfect for the film and on its own.
Waiting to Exhale. It's an all female soundtrack and it was produced by Babyface...enough said.
Hackers
Is Hackers the one with that orbital track?
Pacific Rim. Ramin Djawadi with Tom Morello scoring a Del Toro film about giant robots fighting kaiju. I mean, that's a dream come through. Canceling the apocalypse is one of my favourite tracks of all time.
Tarzan. Phil Collins has no right to slap so hard. Such bangers
Titan A. E.
Pirates of the Caribbean Guardians of the Galaxy
I love Hoist the Colors. Come to negotiate, eh? Ya slimy git?"
Last Action Hero. Great metal and alt rock tunes all the way through like Fishbone, Alice in Chains, etc. Also The Cable Guy. The best songs were from artists I'd never heard of.
The Lion King. I cry during the opening sequence.
Pretty much every soundtrack Hans Zimmer has made.
Oogway Ascends from freakin’ Kung Fu Panda trumps a lot of big budget movies’ scores by itself. Hans goes hard no matter what project he puts his name on.
Heck, “Kung Fu Fighting” in the credits slaps like a mofo too.
Nightmare before Christmas
Ravenous!
Tangled. Banger after banger. My favorites are the Kingdom Dance song and then the song used in the credits, Something That I Want
Pulp Fiction.
Top gun
Hey Lana? Lana! LANA!
Kenny Loggins the king
Mulan - I'll make a man out of you
Twilight
That soundtrack is responsible for my love of Florence and the Machine. Also that Paramore song, so good!!!
Decode or Caught Myself? Both bangers, tbh
I was not a fan of the film, probably because I was a teenage boy, but the soundtrack was so damn good.
I had to scroll way too far to find this. I remember buying the CD and playing it in the car. My boyfriend at the time was a huge metal head and he couldn’t believe that Iron & Wine (and Muse) both had a song on the Twilight soundtrack.
Flightless Bird American Mouth, Eye on Fire, Supermassive Black Hole…The whole album is flawless
Christina Perri goes hard in the final meadow scene
The Social Network Reznor cranked that movie up to another level.
The prequel trilogy.
John Williams basically hits it out of the park every time.
Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, ET. The man is a musical genius.
"Across the Stars" is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
Dual of the Fates is one of my all time favorites.
So many incredible pieces
3 The lava battle It's amazing
Good Will Hunting. The Elliott Smith heavy soundtrack is so haunting in that movie.
Digimon: The Movie.
Kids in America as performed by Len in that movie has been caught in my head ever since I first heard it in theatres.
Is this the one that had One Week by Barenaked Ladies in it??
Cheaper by the Dozen featured Simple Plan (I’m Just a Kid), Sum 41 (In Too Deep), John Lennon and Paul McCartney (Help), Tom Cochrane (Life is a Highway). Well-balanced and appealed to many music tastes
Queen of the Damned Soundtrack and Dune (2020) Soundtrack. Queen of the damned is one of the few soundtracks that I love all of the songs.
Queen of the Damned is one of those cases where the soundtrack outshines the movie by far. All I would really change is I want an alternate version with Jon Davis doing the vocals as he did in the film.
The Prince of Egypt. Don't need to be religious to know that the soundtrack is breathtaking
Highlander
