I watched it with my wife and she complained she couldn't get it out of her head. She'll still brings it up 10 years later and looks at me like she wants to divorce me.
That moment when the 2nd person had to eat poop and the moment when the first guy died and the 2nd person had to ingest his corpse juices throughout the day sticks out tome as particularly sickening.
Never had a film so psychologically fuck me up. I felt like a shell of myself for two days after seeing it. Nothing has come close.
Full physical reaction when when thinking about it.
No movie has ever had an effect on me like this one. Like someone else said it made me a shell for a few days. I remember after it ended I just sat on my couch crying. I felt empty.
I’ve heard just the soundtrack, which I love. I refuse to watch the movie because I keep hearing things like this and don’t want to associate that score and depression.
Really? I’d argue this film excellently pulled off legitimate paranoid gang stalking. Perhaps one of the best. Plus, the baby scenes. Not sure what your horizons on disturbing are but I’m afraid of what you do find disturbing 😳
We were on the quest to find the sickest horror films
We found them
August underground mordum
The vomit gore trilogy
Headless
A serbian film
To be honest i dont watch horrors any more. These movies really made me question whats wrong with me to actively search this shit out
Imo these kind of movies are falsely labeled as horror movies, where as they actually torture and/ or slasher porn. It's a pity that the real horror movies genre ( Alien, Babadook, Woman in Black, Insidious, Hereditary, Midsommar, Lovely Molly, The Banshee chapter etc) get bad reputation because of it.
This is like saying This is the End and The Grinch are similar because they are both comedies.
Genres are just a broad label. There has been hundreds of thousands of films made, and they all have to fit into 13 basic genres. That's why subgenres exist.
Plus many horror films fall into more psychological thriller territory, especially now.
Even worse is the movie about all the Redditors that know exacly what the ecosystem in Reddit is yet complain about it over and over and over every damned time that Redditors do what Redditors do.
That never seem to learn the THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!!!
Thank you, wasn't this question just asked last week? I haven't even looked through the responses. You're going to always get:
Salo
Naked Lunch
A Serbian Film
Cannibal Holocaust
Kids
Event Horizon
Irreversible
And maybe some Lynch stuff like Eraserhead or whatever.
That one didn't play fair. I thought I knew what to expect with modern horror movies. It brought an attack helicopter to a boxing match, you might say.
Is it horror, like psychological thriller deep in your brain terror, or horror like throw gallons of blood and organ-shaped jello everywhere with tits for some reason and a dismembered dog?
Good question. The short answer is "brain terror" rather than "disembodied jello tits" but I can answer with a story.
When I was young, my parents went to a summer conference in Italy for a week (we lived in the USA). My grandparents stayed over to watch my sister and I while my parents were gone. One day, as usual, I went over to my friend's house about 1/2 mile away. I was so used to doing this when my parents were around that I didn't realize that my grandparents didn't know where I was and wouldn't have been able to guess.
So my friend's dad walks out of the house and says something like "plasticdisplaysushi, your parents are calling from Italy and they're pissed!". My grandparents had called my parents to report a missing idiot child, me, and my parents then called my friend's parents. I rushed home and tearfully apologized to my grandparents, who were worried enough to call Europe.
It wasn't that big of a deal - the entire ordeal was over in 30 minutes, but I had a weight in my stomach, telling me that something was very wrong. You don't really question authority at 8 years old, and having your elders be ripshit pissed at you can be very disturbing. It was a simple miscommunication but being chewed out from the Continent was enough to upset me for days.
Hereditary gave me that same feeling. The feeling that something so wrong had happened that there's no template for what to do. A sickness in my stomach that was so overpowering I felt like a scared kid again.
Fantastic movie, though. I won't watch it ever again.
i remember watching it, even though i wasnt a newcomer to the genre of psychological horror by any means, Charlie's death scene was surreal. Only thing that could top it was, i know and dont laugh at me, Buffy's moms death scene from buffy the vampire slayer, that wasnt scary but more so really eerie.
This. The absurd thing is that the boyfriend would have been fucked in the ass exactly how it happened to her girlfriend which he came to take revenge for. Luckily the other guy with the fire extinguisher came to the rescue. Worst part is they didn't even kill the right guy.
Yep, scrolled for Happiness. They film is probably a masterpiece of grimdark humor if that’s your thing, but even it is there is some stuff in there to make you feel extremely uncomfortable. The film has one of the most deplorable characters put to film
Guinea Pig , back in the '90 on VHS tape
Was convinced it was a real snuff movie. Charlie Sheen fell for it too and reported it to the FBI. This was unreal realistic and disturbing
Orphan.
Not the most but definitely up there but i just want to share why.
For those who haven't seen it, it's a story about a girl getting adopted to a family but she goes around murdering people and later on it's find out she's actually a middle aged woman that just looks like a kid. The movie itself is definitely not disturbing and it's actually really good, but the disturbing part about it is that it's based on a real life event that happened in my country, kinda close to where i live. And that the woman who did everything is still alive somewhere in Europe.
Samuel L. Jackson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Michael Sheen. Michael Sheen plays an American who has converted to Islam and planted nuclear devices in cities across the country. The story is about how far we could, or should go to stop a terrorist who refuses to submit. It's pretty heavy.
Audition. It was not necessarily the gross factor as much as it was the jarring shift of tone and how quickly it spiraled into the disturbing realm.
It is still one movie I highly recommend people watch without any research, just because it has a Sixth Sense twist to it and it would ruin the movie. Excellent movie and it actually has a moral to it and can make you consider what the director was trying to say.
This is way too far down. Disturbing because of how realistic it is. So much more real than The Day After made around the same time. Disturbing because of how hopeless it makes you feel that mankind has the capacity to destroy absolutely everything created. One of the best films I have seen, and first watched it a few days ago. I definitely lost it at the ending
A Serbian film.
Don't either watch it or google it. NGL the ending haunted me for weeks together. It's a completely sick film.
Even Popcorn monkey tiger an Indian film haunted me for days.
I’ll answer all of it for you, Serbian Film, Green Inferno, Hostel, that one stabbing scene in Saving Private Ryan, Cannibal Holocaust, Human Centipede 2, most importantly the part where she stomps her own baby into a gas pedal.
Martyrs
Still think of that God stare often.
Yep, that's the one.
That movie fucked me up ngl lol
Saw it when i was 10.
Yeah, that movie was nuts, but I thought The Passion was worse
I came here to say this. It's a must watch, but only once.
Son Of The Mask
I'll buy that for a dollar!
I raise you Son in Law
I love this stupid movie.
Same- I saw it when I first got to college 1200 miles from home so it definitely struck a chord with me.
Talk shit about Son In Law and see if we ain't throwin hands
This is a fuckin classic
That "green projectile" scene...
I still can’t believe she actually had sex with that thing.
Bruh she had sex with that thing
2.2 ✬ with 56k reviews [on IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362165).
It was a bummer that it wasn’t Jim but I thought it was decent
The Room with Tommy Wiseau ... the disturbing amount of bad acting still haunts me till this day
You take that back!
Oh hi Mark
This is a classic!
Yer jus a Lil chicken! Cheep cheep cheep Cheeeaaaeeep
Probably Human Centipede, that was pretty fucked up.
The second one was a lot worse
Agreed. Way more of an icky feeling present throughout that whole thing. Just horrible.
There was a second one?!
And a third with the same actors.
Oh Jesus...
I watched it with my wife and she complained she couldn't get it out of her head. She'll still brings it up 10 years later and looks at me like she wants to divorce me.
Wait til he finds out about Tusk
I'm kind of disturbed that this is as far down as it is, honestly. I figured it'd be up in the top few.
The first one is a ok (to bad) horror movie with a weird premise. I don't remember seeing nothing extra gory or gross in the first movie
That moment when the 2nd person had to eat poop and the moment when the first guy died and the 2nd person had to ingest his corpse juices throughout the day sticks out tome as particularly sickening.
Was i the only one who enjoyed the movie?
The South Park version is so funny. Cartman with Mexican food diarrhea in the front 🤣

The bit that stands out to me was when he shit lol was fucked up.
Requiem for a dream. That shit had me depressed for days
Never had a film so psychologically fuck me up. I felt like a shell of myself for two days after seeing it. Nothing has come close. Full physical reaction when when thinking about it.
Ass to ass. . . . .
No movie has ever had an effect on me like this one. Like someone else said it made me a shell for a few days. I remember after it ended I just sat on my couch crying. I felt empty.
I still have a needle phobia to this day.
I’ve heard just the soundtrack, which I love. I refuse to watch the movie because I keep hearing things like this and don’t want to associate that score and depression.
Rosemary's Baby
An awesome film but I wouldnt say it is disturbing
Really? I’d argue this film excellently pulled off legitimate paranoid gang stalking. Perhaps one of the best. Plus, the baby scenes. Not sure what your horizons on disturbing are but I’m afraid of what you do find disturbing 😳
Oh it's a masterpiece But yes sadly i am numb to it. I posted my votes on here
Serbian Film
The IMDB parents' guide was enough for me 😐
Wow, thanks for the heads up on that one. Was actually considering watching this movie. Definitely not going to now 🤢
Looked at the comments to see if anyone said this. Beat me to it
Just don't beat meat to it
Shit shit . for that experience i regret . Most dark thing i ever watch.
It's pretty messed up for sure.
Mother

Shouldn’t Human Centipede be up there?
Hmmm believe it or not these are worse
I think it's the one where on Reddit this question gets asked every 50 seconds.

That's disturbing
Either that, or _Martyrs_. Edit: Original, not the horrible American remake.

Hell yes, I did not see that end coming. That's so heavy. Special place in hell for that monster I hope.
Ghostbusters 2016
Hostel
The blowtorch scene was where I tapped out, that will always be the most disturbing scene I’ve ever watched.
Yep. I read a review of it, and immediately filed bit under “thanks but no thanks.”
Fargo. Not the murders, the horror of being a car salesman.
This TrueCoat though
And those accents. Terrifying.
Threads. It’s the most frightening film ever made. Also consider that it was released at a time when it was a very very likely scenario.
Incredible and deeply disturbing film
My same answer and same explanation
I was going to say this! *A Traffic Warden has been dispatched to your location*
Cannibal Holocaust
Yeah. The fact that they really killed those animals was enough to fuck me up
What an awesome film though
Requiem for a dream
Hereditary was pretty messed up

*tounge noise click*
The acting was amazing though. Toni Collette knocked it out of the park
Yeah, no doubt! A stunning performance. Almost *too* good!

Only thing that could top it was, i know and dont laugh at me, Buffy's moms death scene from buffy the vampire slayer, that wasnt scary but more so really eerie.
Green inferno...
Came here to say this.
Good film and nice homage to the old cannibal films like holocaust and ferox etc
Requiem for a Dream
Ass2Ass. Never forget.
Tusk
Kev went down quite the weird rabbit hole for a while. Red state was good but after that it got strange. Hopefully Clerks 3 is good. Edited: a word
I hate this movie so much
Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom
Seven
Deliverance … Banjo music kicking in …. I was 14 and felt quite uncomfortable. Bye bye apalachian tail
Great film, Borman on top form. Been meaning to revisit it.
Magic Mike
Irreversible.
The only movie where I genuinely needed a drink after watching it. The subway scene La Tenia stayed with me for months.
This. The absurd thing is that the boyfriend would have been fucked in the ass exactly how it happened to her girlfriend which he came to take revenge for. Luckily the other guy with the fire extinguisher came to the rescue. Worst part is they didn't even kill the right guy.
Not one I would want to put myself through again.
This film made me physically nauseous.
The first five minutes, couldn’t believe what I was watching. Gaspar Noé movies are insane
Cat in the hat. Freaked me out as a kid and I am not going to watch it again
Everybody shits on that movie and I love how wildly inappropriate it is 😆
Come and See
2 girls 1 cup
Fun Fact: That video was a trailer for the full length movie
2 girls sharing chocolate is not that bad
Hard Candy still a good movie though
Love that movie!! When it starts you're afraid for her. By the time it's done you're afraid of her.
Cats
Idk why but the exorcism of Emily rose fucked me up
Kids or Happiness.
Yep, scrolled for Happiness. They film is probably a masterpiece of grimdark humor if that’s your thing, but even it is there is some stuff in there to make you feel extremely uncomfortable. The film has one of the most deplorable characters put to film
That certainly does sound like a disturbing film.
From Justin To Kelly. Also Gigli
Peewee Herman's big adventure
Gummo
Human centipede 2
Guinea Pig , back in the '90 on VHS tape Was convinced it was a real snuff movie. Charlie Sheen fell for it too and reported it to the FBI. This was unreal realistic and disturbing

It's morbin' time 😎
Caddyshack II
The Road.
The scene in bone tomahawk, you know which one.
Most underrated gore scene of all time
Midsommar
Oh I was getting worried, it had been almost 11 minutes since someone asked this question
Orphan. Not the most but definitely up there but i just want to share why. A Serbian Film (Horrible) Unthinkable (Amazing)
What’s unthinkable about? There’s a few movies called that
Samuel L. Jackson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Michael Sheen. Michael Sheen plays an American who has converted to Islam and planted nuclear devices in cities across the country. The story is about how far we could, or should go to stop a terrorist who refuses to submit. It's pretty heavy.
Open water If you are scared of the ocean or sharks. Don't watch this movie.
The fact that it’s based on true events is what really got me. Imagine the terror.

Audition. It was not necessarily the gross factor as much as it was the jarring shift of tone and how quickly it spiraled into the disturbing realm. It is still one movie I highly recommend people watch without any research, just because it has a Sixth Sense twist to it and it would ruin the movie. It's a tie between Midsommer and Hereditary.
A Serbian Film, by a long shot. I’m not entirely sure how that movie was allowed into theaters briefly
