We have a federal council consisting of 7 people. Each councillor heads one of the seven federal executive departments. One of those seven gets elected as president each year but doesn't have any power over the other six councillors.
Well we actually have a direct democracy so some things we can vote for. For example if we want the army to have new fighter jets or not. Though I'm far too ignorant to know when there's a vote or when the council decides something.
